I disagree. Just as someone is or isn’t a hall of famer, some people in the HOF deserve to be inner circle members. Ted Williams, Ruth, etc are freaks among freaks, if that makes sense. Making it to the MLB doesn’t mean that you should be treated the same as Juan Soto or Kershaw, who are more distinguished than the average player in the MLB. In both cases, however, ANYONE who makes it to the MLB or HOF deserves massive respect, just some more than others.

Metrics suggest it's Ripken. Jeter was probably the better overall hitter but Ripken was the better overall shortstop. Both are rightfully in the Hall of Fame so it really doesn't matter to me personally.

Everybody hated A-Rod despite his skills. I watch baseball from 1987 to now so I saw Jeter's entire run. He was one of the mythical figures of that time. Sometimes sports is just about larger that life stories.
