Tbf, neither of them look like they would have even a breadcrumb of mutual experience to draw from in order to involve themselves in this conversation with Deeney lol
Hardly. He was a footballer at the time and continued after. Not much of a turn around needed. All he had to do was stop kicking students in the head on the floor and carry on with his well paid life.
Great podcast, we’ve all made mistakes in life some worse than others. He’s done his time learnt his lesson and he’s moved on and has managed to make a great career for himself. Big respect to him seems a really nice down to earth guy.
Hardly difficult. Footballer then kicks someone in the head in a violent attack. Then continues to be a footballer. Not much of a turn around required. Just stopped being a violent thug.
I work with lots of different football teams installing gym equipment and training facilities. I have met many many pro footballers and troy Deeney was one of the nicest players iv met. Came up shook my hand and asked how I was. Most players don't even look at you. It's like there not even in the same room as you. Big up Deeney, and I'm a leicester fan lol
Big respect for Troy, as a Leicester supporter I have always still liked him, even after that goal ! My dad passed away from oesophageal cancer back in 2017, he was diagnosed in the December and gone by march. He was already stage four when they caught it. So I know how aggressive it is… that’s a lot to deal with in a short space of time. Much respect to Troy for his honesty and being vulnerable as a man.
As a Watford fan I remember Troy being sentenced and really thought that would be last we saw of him as he wasnt tearing it up on the pitch too much, although being played somewhat out of position. However when he came back I remember at least 50% of the fan base not wanting him due to our family image, but many of us were of the opinion that that image must include some kind of forgiveness and that we should give him a chance. He took is second opportunity so well and remains a full WFC hero to so many people of all ages and not just for the football but for everything he stands for. We miss him terribly.
Mental the pressure and pain a lot footballers are under and the real life situations they living through and expected to perform no matter what and be perfect the money people think solves all these issues.
Was on the same plane has Troy last year just before Xmas on the way to Barcelona, Came across a decent bloke, didn’t mind having a photo and a chat 👊🏽🇬🇧
little pointer guys can you process the audio in the same way as for Spotify please. It's too loud and then too quiet on the clips, makes it more uncomfortable to watch. Cracking content though!
It's strange how whenever I hear politicians or activists talking about prisoner, they often talk about how they are a product of their environment and how we should sympathize with them. Yet, all the prisoners I've heard talking about their time, own up to their mistakes and do not blame the system for their situation, but only themselves.
@Ross Neil I completely do and am of the opinion that we really do need to tackle the route of the issue and not just impose harder and harder measures and put more people in prisons. I wasn't really making any statement here, just an observation.
What makes Troy stand out is when Watford captain he kept the younger players grounded about issues that could affect their career. Same with older squad players who were not always on side with team ethic in a persuasive way to stop dressing room problems. It helps when Troy does not worship money and remembers how he and him family went without.
Fu*k me winson green K wing, brings back memories used to work in the kitchens there, it’s a shit hole but better then the new side of the jail at least k wing had partly openable windows the new side only has vents.
For those who don’t know the story behind this, it would have helped if the viewer was told what Deeney was jailed for! 😳 And yes, I know people could look it up, but that’s not the point! 😮
If you plead guilty at the earliest opportunity you CAN be given up to a third off - eg judge was going to give you a year, but gives you 8 months. It’s not a guarantee that you get the reduction, and a third off is the maximum.
One thing the British criminal justice system definitely teaches you (if you have a brain) is how to make sure you don't get caught or convicted again once you've been to prison the first time.
Troy went down for beating “school students” 😅 I’m not saying he’s right but we all know what school kids are like nowadays. Even those Chavy 12 year olds need a slap because the parents clearly haven’t 😂
He’s just a guy that made some bad decisions and learnt from them what’s your point and you clearly commented without even watching the video because he said he went to prison in Birmingham at the very start
Do not do the crime you wont do the time , burried my dad didn't need serv a jail sentance . Did the basic well ran for 90s mins each week was nothing special is nothing special .
