That goal was the prime example of what comes round goes round, you cheat and you will pay. To be honest the true hero of that moment was the whole team, first the goal keeper making an amazing double save then the rest of the players with an amazing counter attack, and Deeney with that wonder shot lol, just brilliant.
Went to business meeting a week after that goal went in and they showed the footage as an example of team work and to never give up..!! And as a Crystal Palace/football fan I jumped up with a YEAH..!! I was not the only one..! It will go down in history as one of the greatest goals ever scored..!! 🙄
the amazing thing about that goal is it happened not two weeks after Marcelo Trotta missed a penalty for Brentford to deny them promotion against Doncaster and Doncaster went down the other end to win the title with Coppinger (not nearly as goosebumpy but the same theme). Was amazing to see two goals scored after penalty misses in two crucial games within a couple of weeks of each other
I just took the Watford job on Football Manager…. Every time I score I shout “Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnneyyyyyy” 😂 one of/if not the most memorable moment in English Football Ever 👏🏻🙌🏻
It will be hard for me to find a favourite Watford that gave me better memories than Troy Deeney. Can only thank him for being 1 of the greatest servants to Watford in the club's history. He almost won the FA Cup for Watford in 2016 & 2019, obviously we didn't win 🏆but for a club like Watford to be in with a chance of winning major silverware is a great moment for English Football. Kevin Phillips, who scored the extra time penalty against Watford in the final has managed South Shields for the last 2 season and got them promoted this year. We( Warrington town) stopped them getting promoted through the playoffs last year away on penalties and then lost the playoff final against Scarborough away. Tomorrow we have another playoff final at home to bamber bridge so🤞 for that. 🟡🔵🟡🔵
