So, we had purchased a 2020 regular Camry from them a few months before. Traded that one for what we owed on the car. Reduced our tax liability on the new car.
We purchased it for $28,124 plus TTL. There was a $1,750 rebate at the time. Total out the door was a little over $27,000. The original dealership they were trying to get our car from backed out on the trade. So, we ended up getting slightly more accessories than the one we found.

Kyle, you are correct. I purchased new, a 2020 Camry Hybrid and have averaged 52.7 MPG- U.S. total in driving over 22,000 miles since we bought it. I have driven on 3 separate road trips of more than 250 miles each, driving between 65 and 75 miles per hour and gotten over 60 MPG., the best was 63.1 MPG. Someone mentioned in a statement that Camry Hybrid Owner's take up to much time in the Left lane holding up traffic trying to get great gas mileage, some might, but that is total B.S. as the will get up over 100 MPH rather easily and cruise over 90 all day long.

    1. I much prefer the integrated screen in the dashboard as opposed to the stick up version. So the dashboard of '18,'19 and '20 looked better to me as I expect to see a map and not much else. 2. When the front door swings open, you have to have long NBA arms to reach the handle to close. 3. The shape of the front doors at the bottom can stab you in your calf muscle if you are not careful. 4. It may not be quick but the base LE fuel economy is outstanding and the 8 speed transmission is a good match and AWD if you get snow four or more months of the year. It is as mainstream as the LTD or the BelAir of the 1970's, only much better in many ways.

    • @joa8593

The main problem is those reviews lead to carmakers cutting actual quality to get bigger screens and soft materials in at the same price point. A lot of interior quality you can't see, like where felt is used to prevent rattles or what material is used to deaden the sheet metal and influencers have forced automakers to basically stop development there entirely.

I want the big screen for CarPlay, surround view camera for parking, connected routing that routes me around traffic/accidents, and radar cruise control with steering assist for those long highway drives. I want a phone app that doesn't just start the car and lock the doors. I also want climate controls, defrost, heated steering wheel, and seat heating/ventilation controls. And that's why I chose Hyundai over Toyota last year.
The Sonata SEL includes all of the above except the surround view camera for $25,800. You can't even get a push button start on a feature-stripped Camry unless you spend $1,500 more for the base hybrid or $4,200 more for the non-hybrid XLE trim. And unlike Toyota's 3yr/36k warranty, Hyundai includes a 10yr/100k drivetrain warranty. What you're looking for exists. It just isn't made by Toyota.

I’ve said it before and say it again: hybrids save you so much money in the long haul. Most people don’t really think about the long term costs that regular ICE cars require. If you look at the operating hour cost (like aviation does), internal combustion engines are SUPER expensive. For example, 100k miles at 20 mpg at current gas prices (100000/20) = 5000 gallons of fuel at $4.5 per gallon-> $22,500.00 just on gas over 100k miles (maybe 10 years). That’s almost the price of the car. At the same gas price, a hybrid getting 48 mpg would cost you $9,375.00.
Companies need to figure out how to make hybrids a little more fun to drive. And that CVT/eCVT sound is not appealing to most car enthusiasts like me. I would buy this car though.

@Gottes God "Have to be mindful of raining season"? What are you even talking about. I've forded a Prius through a foot and a half of water by making sure the ICE didn't kick on, and I regularly drive my Fusion Hybrid in torrential rain and deep snow.
There are also far more reliability issues that come with regular ICE cars. The only potential long-term concern would be the HV battery, but even then they're no more likely to fail than an automatic transmission. By the time it might fail; the amount of money you've saved in gas, oil, brakes, belts, etc far exceeds the cost of replacing the HV battery.
The rain thing really has me with a loss for words. That's the first time I've ever heard someone say that, and I have no clue what you mean. Do you think they'll electrocute you if you drive it in rain?

    • @MrTresto
      @MrTresto 3 года назад +1

Let's say that the regular is 30mpg and the hybrid is 50mpg. The price per mile (purely in gas) for an $3 gallon will therefore be 1/30 x 3 and 1/50 x 3, which makes it 10 cent vs 6 cent, or a difference of 4 cent per mile. Therefore, if you want to save, say, $5000, you're gonna need to do 5000 divided by 0.04 = 125 000 miles... At which point you'll be close to needing to change some batteries. Of course, if you are in town, you don't get 30 with the regular, more like 25, at which point your difference is not 4 cent but 6 cents, and your break even point on gas for $5000 becomes 83 333 miles ... This is ignoring potential cost to replace the batteries after 150 - 200K miles (or at least the fact that they become less efficient, nullifying some of the mileage advantages)
Bottom line, at this point, the hybrid is only worth it financially if you do a lot of city miles. Which is why the Prius (and the Camry Hybrid) are some favorites of uber drivers. If you do a lot of highway, the hybrid doesn't get significantly better mileage, and if you don't drive a ton anyway, it's not gonna cost a ton in gas anyway... Plug-in hybrids can be different, it depends on your electricity price too...

In many European countries cars are taxed by co2 emissions on purchase. That makes the Camry hybrid reasonably cheap. It is also the reason the hybrid is the only Camry you can buy. Apart from that fuel prices are so high that the variable costs are relatively low. That said almost every new car in Europe is a hybrid nowadays and that applies for Mercedes, Bmw and Audi as well.

    • @bigcrowfly

Considering the average buyer of a new car keeps it for 6-8 years (depending on the source) and a car with over 100,000 has little significant trade in value, a the Hybrid does not make financial sense, and is for most people just virtue signaling.

In all seriousness I have a question. I live in the Midwest and am probably going to buy a Camry. I drive 70 miles round trip to work everyday. What’s the best buy…
    1) Camry hybrid (FWD)
    2) Camry standard 4 cylinder
    3) Camry (AWD) 4 cylinder
Just need some advice. Also seeing the number of miles I put on the car am I going to run into battery issues in 5 years with the hybrid?
    Thanks

Mate you do mention how it drives and handles! Which one win, Camry or Accord?
