      1996 Toyota 4Runner (stick) to a 2005 Toyota Celica GT (stick) to a 2015 lexus is250 (automatic) … once you go Toyota you never go back. I had a 2000 z28 when I was younger an it always had something wrong ( not saying big issues but it was a constant nuisance)

      To keep the fectory air filter
      You could just dust off the filter at a wendys parking lot by dropping it 3 times then the industrial sweeper machine cleans up all the dirt on the asphalt

      The 25s will be dropping soon and you might get lucky with the pricing on a 24. Since Toyota stuck with this body for 6 years a lot of dealer incentives could hit in the coming months to make room for the new Camry

    I do my own oil changes on my 2020 Silverado. The second oil change the dealer (where I bought the truck) forgot to tighten the oil filter and it was dripping in my driveway. I spotted it as I was honking up my travel trailer (6000 lbs) and getting ready to take off for 2 weeks of camping. I crawled under my truck and tightened it by hand. Since then I've done all my own oil changes and saved a bundle at the same time. I know the filter and the oil pan plug are tight because I did it. Love this channel.

    • @binhdangvn
      @binhdangvn 3 years ago +9

      That was what I did on my 2019 camry. First oil change was 1200miles, next was 5k miles. Then 5k miles until now. My car is 70k + miles without any issue. Still 30gpg on daily drive.

      2019 Camry 2.5L SE first and every subsequent oil change with 0W16 at 5,000 miles or 6 months with zero issues. 48 mpg hiway at 65mph 40mpg in town. Car runs smooth and quiet. With 8,000 miles per year this car will age out before I have oil related engine issues.

    • @binhdangvn
      @binhdangvn 3 years ago +3

      @IKnewMickey that is not bad with 2.5L. I thought that milage is for Hybrid car. Mine is XSE V6.

    • @IKnewMickey
      @IKnewMickey 3 years ago +1

      @binhdangvn the EPA rates hiway mpg differently than actually driving on a hiway. Check it out and you'll see why hiway mpg is easily beaten by almost all cars. For me, if I drive 100 miles on the hi way Without stopping I use about 2 gallons.

    If people took care of their cars like this from new, they would last a lot longer. I often see old guys here in Sweden (many previous Volvo mechanics) that drive old Volvo S60:s, S80:s, V70:s, etc that they bought new, and even though they are 15-20 years old and have high miles, they look absolutely perfect. I suspect that these are the types of people that treat their car's quite similarly to you. Good job!

    • @TheAnnoyingBoss
      @TheAnnoyingBoss 3 years ago +2

      @DylanL69 it depends who you run into. Some vehicles get taken care of because people don't have choice. They either pay for it or do not drive

    • @dafff08
      @dafff08 3 years ago

      @DylanL69 well, it depends on the country. if it has mandatory safety inspections the cars will be somewhat road worthy. however since everything in europe is double the price when it comes to cars (parts, fuel etc) people will neglect other things such as ac, electronics, visual stuff, rattles etc.

    AMD, thanks for another great video. My 2021 Camry Hybrid LE with 26K miles has been a great car. The car drives smooth and gets over 50 MPG. Just took a trip to the NC mountains and the Camry got 52.7 MPG on the the 250 mile trip. Ever now and then mine does have the buzz sound coming from under the dash. In 14 months of ownership, my oil has been changed 5 times. Zero reliability issues with the car. Looking forward to many more miles.

    I recently rented a base model hybrid Camry from my local Toyota dear and took it on a long road trip. I was surprised at how sporty it was. Both handling and power. I’ll say one thing about the OEM wiper blade refills. I have a Honda Accord and used to be one of those guys that would buy the $50 wiper blade replacements at the auto parts stores when it was time to replace my wipers. That was just crazy….the Honda & Toyota OEM refills cost like $11 to $14 dollars and they are the best wipers you can get. They are also super easy to replace.

    • @TheAnnoyingBoss
      @TheAnnoyingBoss 3 years ago

      Listen man it's nice to get the whole replacement once in a while if you ask me because the designs get better sometimes and the engineering changes. If components are plastic the longer you go maybe the more likely it is your super blade fly off in a storm. One guy told me it happened to him.

    • @chrissimmons9969
      @chrissimmons9969 3 years ago +1

      @TheAnnoyingBoss I can see that it's just that aftermarket wiper blade replacements have gotten so expensive. So far the OEM blades on my Accord have been great.

    So impressed. I always did my own oil change starting with my '58 Ford. We used imperial quarts in those days. Nine used cars later, our first new car was a 2006 Impala. I had the GM dealership change the oil the first time...they overfilled it. Then I tried a local repair garage, they overfilled it. It's a pain it the ass to let half a litre of oil out. I'm 78 and back to doing my own oil changes.

Best vehicle I have ever owned. I'm now doing my research to replace my injectors (Diesel engine). I wished i lived near you in Chicago so i could bring my car to your shop for the injector replacement and a full inspection and service. I'm sure my baby would enjoy that. Keep well brother.

    I thought I was crazy to see the flashing (extra material) on the new bumpers too. Purchased new from dealer, front and rear bumper covers for my 9th gen corolla. The front had minimal flashing but the rears looked as bad as the front of this camry. Took the time to razor blade them off before paint. In the end, the fit and finish was actually better than the original bumpers.

    I had purchased a 2019 Camry XSE with the v6 brand new. While I liked the car and the appearance of it is pretty stunning I didn’t care for the build quality (rattles, creaks, etc) and the lack of features it provided for what I was paying. Seats ended up giving me more back pain than I previously had. I ended up trading it for a 2015 Lexus GS350. While I did go back a few years and took some loss I moved up substantially in build quality and comfort it provides. Overall they are both Toyotas and are super reliable!

    Bought my Carolla hybrid a few months ago and love it so far, 5K miles already and did a break in oil change at 1200, about to take it in for it's first dealership service. Can squeeze 60 to 70MPG out of it in the summer, and 48-50 in the winter.

      @Beekeeper8011 Depends if you need the bigger car or not. Also the corolla is more for low speed city driving hence the 53 city 46 highway mpg where the camry gets 51 city 53 highway.

    I just bought my Camry Hybrid LE last month and your video has been very helpful. Like you, I was a long-standing skeptic of hybrids. This year, I decided that if I go with one, it would have to be a brand that had been in the hybrid biz for awhile. Toyota and Honda were the two that rose to the top. I've had zero regrets over the purchase, so far. It's been smooth, efficient, and handles better than I expected. Getting low 50s for fuel economy has been almost three times what I had before.
    Exit question: Just to make sure, you're advice for a new car is to change the oil at the first 1000 miles and then every 5000/6 months, correct?

    Interesting to hear about this extra door on the cabin filter compartment. My Camry does not have that extra door that goes around the corner. So I thought it got lost at a service at the dealership. I asked for it at my dealership in the Netherlands but they did not have it on stock. They showed the explosion picture from the factory (with all the part numbers on it) and indeed it wasn't on the picture. The Camry's for Europe come from Japan and appearantly do not have this 2nd door although the slot for it is in the housing.

    Great video AMD! I recently discovered you through YAA. Got in a fun fender bender on my 2017 Corolla LE which wasn't bad at all, yet it was deemed a total loss with 249k miles. Seeing as it's been paid off for two years, I still saw it with more value in my hands than a chop shop; but I digress...
    I've fallen in love with the Camry Hybrid XSE and will hopefully get a 2023 in the next 4-6 months as inventory increases within the market along with more buying power to get a low loan allowance.
    I'm beyond excited to have found your channel alongside your experience with this vehicle. I can't wait to do my own work on the car as I slowly learn from your channel until I purchase it and through ownership. Keep up the great work; I'm sure I can speak for many of your followers that we're grateful for your expertise and positive attitude. Have a blessed day/week/month/year/life!!
    P.S.-- I've been wanting the red interior, but I too wonder if 33 is too old for it. I've seen some commentors say after going with black that the red looked more of an eye sore... The black does look very clean, but I'm still inclined to pull the trigger on red via special order. Still on the fence but I've got time to decide.

    My father was a mechanic/ body man for 50 before he passed away, and he sounded a lot like you....when it comes to finding
    faults with the build quality of cars. He passed away in the '80s when the term "quality control" hadn't been invented yet.
    I remember he bought a new Chrysler once, but before he bought the car, he had an estimate pad from our garage and he
    made an estimate on what it would cost to fix the problems on the car that came from the factory. Great videos
    and I give you A+ on your garage!

    • @RightLaneHog3151
      @RightLaneHog3151 3 years ago +1

      Since they stopped making the Valiant and original Dart, the words quality and Chrysler have never been found in the same sentence. Teaming up with Fiat and Peugeot has sunk them to a new level.

    • @USNAVDC
      @USNAVDC 3 years ago

      @RightLaneHog3151 Actually, my dad thought Chryslers products went down hill about 1957 when the started using the torsion-bar front suspension. He hated that. He also hated when unibody construction was introduced. For years, ALL American cars had quality control problems which only got better when the foreign competition turned up the heat. I've had lots of cars and one of the smoothest I've ever driven was a 1955 Chrysler. One of the sweetest cars I've ever owned was a 1964 Lincoln Continental....4 door. I once drove that car 515 miles in 6 1/2 hours....and I had to stop once for gas.
      A 1962 Ford Thunderbird was fun too. A 1978 Chrysler Cordoba was probably the worse car I've ever had.....I bought it new and kept it for 30 years (it had 28,000 miles on it when I sold it) as a reminder....NEVER BUY another Chrysler product.

    • @USNAVDC
      @USNAVDC 3 years ago +1

      @RightLaneHog3151 ....by the way, my Dad passed away in 1981 and I still have his 1978 Monte Carlo....37,000 miles on it. General Motors and Ford quality control was pretty sorry too for a long time.

    My mom has a 2020 RAV4 XSE Hybrid that I occasionally drive and I agree with you. It's a great car, drives well, and is very comfortable to drive in. But one thing I've noted was the build quality (or lack thereof) of the exterior parts. The doors are super light so they swing open and close really easily, but that also translates to rattles every time you close the door. And being a 2020 model RAV4, there was a TSB issue with the side mirrors shaking at speed. We since had it repaired but the driver's side mirror still seems to be shaking a bit. The hood and fuel doors, like the main doors, are super light so it feels like I could easily bend them when I close them, especially the hood since you have to slam it down to properly close it or the latch doesn't engage properly. The wind noise is also very apparent when driving on the highway but that's something we kind of gotten used to.
    Despite all of that, I think the car overall is still a great car. I really like how smooth the transition from electric to gas is with the eCVT and we still get pretty good gas mileage for such a big car (36-37 MPG on average). I'm also glad that they decided to open up to supporting both Android Auto and Apple Carplay this generation. I know it was a hit and miss with many car manufacturers in the previous few generations, either supporting Android Auto or Apple Carplay, but not both.
    It's too bad that the AWD Corolla Hybrid didn't come out until this year, otherwise that would have been my pick for myself. lol Unfortunately, I had already gotten a new car last year. :(

      Last year the trade paper Automotive News reported Toyota's announcement that they would temporarily accept a lower quality of fit and finish from their suppliers. There is no way the plastic around the bumper would normally be acceptable but they made compromises to keep the assembly line moving. I commend AMD for honestly highlighting the faults on his car as many fans of Toyota would not want to hear it.

    Great show. Your oil change information is "spot on". I have traded vehicles because of rattles that couldn't be fixed. I am sure others have too. Rattles are not as frequent as they used to be, in my experience. I never go over 6 months on an oil regardless of the miles I put on. We can't go 10,000 miles between oil changes in North Dakota. It can get negative 30 below zero in the winter. Toyota dealer here says 10,000 mile changes are just fine. Thanks for telling it like it is.

    • @I_know_what_im_talking_about
      @I_know_what_im_talking_about 3 years ago +4

      And I’m sure the car will be “just fine” with those 10k Lube jobs. It won’t be spotless and running @ 100% when it has 150,000 miles on the clock but 95-90% performance is perfectly fine for most people who would rather save that $1,000 on maintenance and use it for something else 🤷🏻‍♂️
      That’s how the manufacturer looks at it.
      Besides, they want you to come back in 5 years and trade in your old car for a new model before the warranty expires.

      @I_know_what_im_talking_about Car Care Nut has a video on his channel of a 2015 Camry that always got the 10k mile oil changes and it started burning a 1 quart of oil every 1k miles at 120k miles. At 150k miles it started burning 2-3 quarts of oil every 1k miles. He had to replace the short block to fix the issue. ruclips.net/video/TJhFAwFv-O0/video.html

      @TheCobruhAlienat0r - you can’t bring up a model that has a defective engine design as an example.
      Any Toyota 2GR-FE V6 can easily go 10k miles on synthetic and be spotless @ 200k miles. I’ve seen it personally. Some engines are just easy on oil. 🤷🏻‍♂️
