Me and my dad commute with a 2018 Camry hybrid Le and we beat that thing every day!!! Over 60k miles a year and we are currently at 190,000 miles! Since we drive her at like 85mph + all the time we get about 37mpg the only thing we have repaired is the steering shaft about 750$ besides that oil changes every 10k and new tires every 6k we’re thinking of changing the brakes soon like 200k miles
Thank you very much for sharing this info. It does transfer confidence to hybrid buyers. I've a Prius awd 2019 with 60k km in Canada, I'm planning to drive it to the ground. What's your plan?. Thank you again.
For all that’s wondering this car is rated at 46 mpg city and highway. I just bought this exact model and have about 400 miles on it and according to the display I’m getting around 44 mpg. (Normal mixed driving)
Would have thought it to be higher. I have a 21 Rav4 Hybrid and am getting the same around town (Warm Weather) and 41 on the highway. In cold weather in Iowa, it drops to between 30 at below 0 to 34 at the freezing mark.
I’ve had the car a while now and just crossed over 17,000 miles. Car has been flawless with no problems. I can drive it with a lead foot and still get over 40mpg and I’ve gotten 49mpg before when taking in easy. I was fortunate to buy this car right before all the shortages and price hikes and I actually got a few grand discount. I spend a little extra on non ethanol from a local oil company where I live and with that I didn’t pay attention to the skyrocketing gas prices because it gets such good fuel mileage. I believe it’s a 12 gallon tank and I get over 550 miles if I run it down on a trip. Overall one of the best car purchases for me ever and not even taking into account all the perks of the electric mode and how nice it looks. I get more compliments on it than any other car I’ve owned! 😂
I love my 2020 Camry Hybrid LE. Comfortable, fairly quick, roomy, and 46mpg in late winter weather. With Michigan potholes, I specifically chose to go with the LE trim for its 16” wheels and 65 aspect ratio tires.
@@nostradamus7648 My LE does have the Li-ion battery, and it's reportedly more efficient (in its preferred operating temp range) than the NiMH batteries. It's routinely getting 52mpg (no BS---that's doing two fill-ups at the same gas pump, and the math) at temps above 50F. 42K miles on the car.
The Sonata might be nicer today, but 10 years from purchase I can't imagine the Camry not winning out. Toyota has a great track record for reliability, including their hybrids and Hyundai recently had a problem that affected basically ALL their 4-cylinder GDI engines that causes them to fail after only a few years and sometimes catch on fire.
I test drove a camry awd and really wanted to love it even if I didn't necessarily need the awd, but I loved the way it handled and it had the necessary amount of power, but I couldn't get comfortable in the interior no matter how hard I tried. The interior is just way to overdesigned. No matter the trim the infotainment design impacts leg room in the front and I would constantly be hitting hard plastic and then the seats where just not that comfortable. My 2000 camry had a wonderful interior that made it just lovely to drive for 21 years. I would not say the same for this car personally, but different cars different people I guess!
I love that you can get excited about a car like this. This car is a grand slam for what it's _intended to be._ It's NOT a Porsche 911, it's a daily driver that looks awesome, will basically never break down, can actually be a little bit fun, and gets insane MPG.
I would love if you guys would explain that, especially for Toyota and Honda, “eCVT” doesn’t actually mean a CVT. The engine drives a generator that drives an electric motor that is connected to a planetary gear set that drives the wheels. There’s no belt or pulley so it drives more like a direct drive EV. They just use “e-CVT” as a marketing term and it confuses people.
I have Hybrid SE and I still love my car even after 2 years; that is the first ever in my life. It goes 0-60 in 7s range, so it's plenty fast for anyone. It's so roomy, easy to maintain, bluetooth links fast, nice interior/exterior, 42-44mpg mixed driving(I drive little faster than most people), CVT makes the ride so buttery, but also makes it go fast. A few downsides are the weak suspension/damping, and cabin noise. Everytime I go over a small pothole at +30mph, I can hear and feel the suspension jarring and losing its control. The level cabin noise does not matches its size and looks; it's farily quite, but it's definitely not its strength. Lastly, you cannot turn off the alarm for backseat seatbelts.
You never did get punished for getting a Toyota hybrid, it's actually the best drivetrain for most of Toyota cars, at least here in the EU. It's decently quick, extremely fuel efficient in town and it's a dead simple system so there's not much to break. Last-gen was very droney and visibly worse, but you can't go wrong with current gen.
The Camry Hybrid is one of the best hybrids out there, and like you said it’s not like a punishment because it’s not slow. It’s the same drivetrain as the RAV4 Hybrid. And if you get the LE trim it will get over 50MPG. Why bother with a Prius?
It is most definitely a good car for people who don't care about cars. I have a 2020 Camry Hybrid LE with 31K miles and am constantly telling people to not buy one. It is an awful driving experience, other cars in the price range are still fun and maneuverable and the Camry is a drag to drive. I enjoy the 45-57 mpg per trip and the styling of the car, but that is about it for the exciting parts of the car. Toyota knows of two major issues with the car with no current fixes (according to the three nearest service departments to me in SoCal): the first is the seat belt buckle sensors freaking out (someone can take off their seatbelt and it wont notice, or it can freak out saying someone is unbuckled but nobody is), it requires a full computer swap so the current Toyota fix is to turn off the safety notifications (as someone with small kids this did not fly well with me); the push to start feature on the hybrids is known to be wonky. According to the service department, the cause of the issue was needing to swap the aux battery (at 8K miles). I am on battery number three from Toyota and still occasionally have a car that won't turn on with no pattern due to weather or previous driving, then the next time you try it starts right up. I decided to purchase the car due to Toyota's reputation for low maintenance, but I have yet to experience that.
This “cvt” is not a CVT, eCVT it means electric continuously variable transmission because if you drive in ev and then push pedal to the metal the transmission need to engage in any speed that it needs, but is a 6 speed planetary gear transmission, that’s why is so reliable.
This car is only for those who don't care about performance but just wants to save gas lol. Before I purchased my Camry XSE V6, I was leaning towards a hybrid Camry. It was to the extreme to either side: hybrid or all out V6. As someone who officially owns a 2021 Camry XSE now, it's a great car. Especially if you can get the XSE V6 version because the performance makes this car so fun to drive. I recently added a Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust system and OMG, it really brings out the V6 sportiness of this car. Oh and by the way, the quad tip should be single tip because the outer tip on both sides of the exhaust system is fake. Go up to next time in person and look at the outer tips. They are literally welded on to the other tip with no openings. It's purely non functional and for looks only. I was quite disappointed when I found out which led me to the entire exhaust change out. And for the better because I'm getting a lot of compliments saying my cars sounds like a Lotus, or a GT-R even. Not bad right? But anyways...... Honda Accords are excellent cars too but they took a different approach. They did away with their V6 option and opted for a turbo charged inline 4cy motor. Very responsive by the way, but I chose the Camry for its legendary reputation status. I mean, Camry holds the record for best selling mid size sedan for a reason right? Plus, the Camry looks so damn aggressive and sexy!!! I like the rework and the mild alteration for the 2021 version. The Accord has a classic and conservative type look to them. Mercedes like, but that's not me. Again, it comes down to personal preference as far as looks goes. I mainly got it because it was affordable for the performance you're getting. I mean 301 HP and 267 ft-lb of torque??? What moderately priced car today even has that!?!?
I love the few seconds of silence followed by facial expressions after launching a car. That tells me more of what you think about the car's launch than your words do. 😂
Just bought a '23 XLE Hybrid. The lane keep assist really does cause the car to bounce around inside the lines a lot (at times). The radar cruise works VERY well though. It seems like it even senses the brake lights of the car in front of you too as it slows down a bit more aggressively with cruise on.
Im surprised you called this comfortable since I have tried the basic LE hybrid for a drive test and it was so stiff that made me change my mind about considering this car. I think the XSE has better seats.
@@dwade3202 if you use the car for commuting, electric is great, but for longer ranges you also have the ICE engine. Also, 302 hp and 1000km+ range isn't exactly bad.
@@dwade3202 When the full battery power runs out it operates like a typical hybrid. My son-in-law has a Prius Prime and commutes 25 miles one way to work. Electric gets him to work and hybrid gets him home and he plugs in. This combo equals 100+mpg. You don't have to fill up with gas very often.
Guys, when you are reviewing a hybrid car, fuel economy is a mayor issue, and you didn't talk about it at all. If there is a power trade-off against compared with the V6 or even the 4 cyl, fuel saving should compensate for it, and I'm not sure about that after this video. Good and entertaining reviewing nonetheless.

@@TheStraightPipes OK 👌now we need a Footwear Fashion Show to prove who has the worst taste lol 😝! Call it Heel and Toe 👍
lmao i do the same
Had a Camry Hybrid LE rental, I was actually surprised. I also beat the crap out of it!
really appreciate the extra effort in the video editing
Thank You Almighty God I will buy one for myself
your editors are on something else... super good
Just bought a '23 XLE Hybrid. The lane keep assist really does cause the car to bounce around inside the lines a lot (at times). The radar cruise works VERY well though. It seems like it even senses the brake lights of the car in front of you too as it slows down a bit more aggressively with cruise on.
An actually attainable, normal, non-niche car I see every day! YES! MORE OF THIS! MORE REGULAR CARS! MORE BORING, BLAND, APPLIANCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Need more views though
@@TheStraightPipes I'll give ya 3
Love this car - am considering replacing my 2012 Prius with this.
Im surprised you called this comfortable since I have tried the basic LE hybrid for a drive test and it was so stiff that made me change my mind about considering this car. I think the XSE has better seats.
They need to make a Camry phev, with the RAV4 prime drivetrain. Would be great
Why would you ever want a plug in hybrid ? So you can fill up both gas and electricity ? Too much work man, its either or, not both
@@dwade3202 if you use the car for commuting, electric is great, but for longer ranges you also have the ICE engine. Also, 302 hp and 1000km+ range isn't exactly bad.
Makes sense. It'll put their v6 out of business...
@@DUNGSTA no don’t kill the v6. That engine is too nice.
The PHEV Camry would be too heavy
@@dwade3202 When the full battery power runs out it operates like a typical hybrid. My son-in-law has a Prius Prime and commutes 25 miles one way to work. Electric gets him to work and hybrid gets him home and he plugs in. This combo equals 100+mpg. You don't have to fill up with gas very often.
The red seats looks nice.
(Edit: Today's my birthday)
Happy Birthday
Happy birthday Jaden!
Are red interiors a thing again? I guess history does repeat itself. Atleast the carpet and roof liner aren't red as well
yeah but seats are red and the headliner isnt dark 🤢
@@granthemstreet3209 have to agree with u on that
Did they accidentally release this video early?
Our 2017 Lexus R 350 F Sport has Rioja red interior and we love it. The new red is brighter and I don't like it as much.
3:51 *looking down at crotch*
"even my wife looked at this and complained"
You guys are the best. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Wish this was the XSE AWD review :(
Your video editor was just plain having fun in this video. 😅
Yay my favorite car of all time.
I guess some people just want simplicity. Nice
Pretty awesome all around package! The new Camry's look awesome.
This camry looks soo gorgeous in person
Interior is stunning ❤️
Guys, when you are reviewing a hybrid car, fuel economy is a mayor issue, and you didn't talk about it at all. If there is a power trade-off against compared with the V6 or even the 4 cyl, fuel saving should compensate for it, and I'm not sure about that after this video.
Good and entertaining reviewing nonetheless.
I agree that should be touched
You never spoke to the most important reason you purchase a Hybrid….fuel consumption MPG?
I have a 2020 Camry Se and this is going to be my next upgrade
When the green and orange affect happened, I honestly thought I was becoming color blind lol
That red interior 🤤
The cardigan of the car world
I got routed here directly after watching an NHTSA test of a Toyota Camry LE at just 25 MPH. As much as I loved my 2006 Toyota, I'm sticking with public transportation!
I've been waiting for this!!
Did I miss the fuel mileage of the hybrid review?
They should really talk about fuel economy. It's really damn important!
@@pdd3 I just bought one and its rated at 46 mpg city and highway
@@ROMANS10VERSE9AND10 how is your fuel economy
@@ultragoldcoin8780 I just passed 5k and had it serviced yesterday. I can easily get 47 mpg if I drive easy but I usually drive heavy footed and get around 43mpg which I still think is amazing.
@@ROMANS10VERSE9AND10 make sure you check your battery fan filter btw, it gets dirty over time.
What a smooth transition 👌🏾 at 2:21
Watching your episode in CBC marketplace on your raptor and gti right now
Would be good if you guys mention road noise/cabin noise in your reviews.
Toyota’s interiors age so much faster than the competition haha
Hope in an Audi A series, or mercedes c class. Booty
awesome review as always, keep up the good work, we need more reviews of daily driver cars
Mossy Oak Crocs with the cameo appearance, nice! 100 percent agree on the Big Brother car tracking BS. Enough.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for you guys to review the Camry! But you should do the awd version xse
Where did all your winter gear go? Behind and under the front seats?
You launched like a rocket! When you show detailed video of the interiors like this it is great as good basis for many to decide about seat options... What say you: Hybrid SE with BSM vs entry point Hybrid XSE? thx
Would you say it’s more comfortable then the new accords?
Reliable 4 door sports sedan
Camrys have gotten badass. Who woulda thunk
I bought one exactly identical to this one 4 months ago and i couldn't handle the outdated interior so i got a sonata hybrid its wayyy better.
0:09 this is probably the most Canadian intro we've seen mostly because of the weather lol
Watch our huracan evo review
@@TheStraightPipes bet it was a lotta fun with the snow haha 😆
Should i buy a new camry hybrid xse or a 2 year old used Avalon which is not hybrid?
Would you guys be able to do a review on a 2021 dodge charger rt? I'm looking at buying one and I really like what you guys have to say about vehicles. Also keep up the great work guys!
I have the 2020 XSE v6. silver exterior w black roof and red interior. Absolutely love it
I personally don’t like the blacked out XSE wheels. I really don’t get why Toyota gets so much hate these days. Automotive journalists are so hard to please vs regular consumers.
@stephen stepanic and they get spoiled by fast cars
how does the fuel mileage stack up against the AWD drive model?, I mean I know it'll be better than then the AWD but by how much?
Test the Camry AWD next time you’re in a Camry. With Subaru having the ABYSMAL 11 inch screen it ruins thee recent legacys and outbacks and the Camry with AWD is said (by Toyota) to replace 15% of camry sales. Seems to be a solid addition to the Camry
2020 Camry is best selling sedan in the USA. Love it.
Not gonna lie, I like that car
Gotta love the Versatile! video title
Personally I am not interested in a Camry Hybrid, but a Straight Pipes review is always relevant to my interests
Reviewers: Camry is so slow
on slower cars
Reviewers: I don't care about speed.
