    I think the reason why Kristina has been so successful on this lifestyle long term, is that she stresses the importance of eating greens and veggies. That is something that a lot of fruitarians overlook, and that's why a lot of people fall into troubles... Fruit is great for energy, but we need veggies for minerals! Love the energy of these videos ;)

    I've been mostly raw vegan for the pasts few weeks, and these are the things I noticed:
    Pros
    -The dark circles around my eyes disappeared
    -The scars on my face disappeared along with my acne
    -I started using the bathroom everyday
    -I had more energy and just generally felt great
    -Started sleeping better
    -This a great diet for healing; I noticed my skin healed faster and didn't leave a scar
    -I've actually *gained* weight, in a GOOD way though. I've been trying to gain weight, and the weight I gained went to all the right places to give me more of a figure instead of making me fat
    Cons
    -I started craving starchy, salty foods (potatos chips and fries) like crazy, and I did give in a few times
    --Libido skyrocketed-
    -This diet will break your pocket unless you are prepared with a food dehydrator (to dry and preserve your food) and have some way of getting your food at a discount

      If you feel good eating this way, maybe you can try making just one meal a day high in starch, like potatoes or rice? Look up raw till 4. I am not on this diet, but I have heard that many people feel good eating this way instead of fully raw (it's also cheaper)

      AshaaSpeaks You should look at her videos. She has a few on how she went through college as a raw vegan (and yes, she lived in a dorm with very little space). Either way i always recommend starting out partially raw. Most people fail diets if they don't start out slow. Plus starting out slow will help with your budget and space until you are out of college

      Denise Byrd When I first started, I craved salt also and caved a few times but I'm at a month now and haven't craved salt often. I will eat these things that are sort of like wheat thins but no animal products (I forget the name) and they stop the cravings (the only processed food I really eat). I also sleep sooo much better at night. As far as the price, I actually have saved more money and don't go to the market multiple times a week anymore. After I make a recipe, I always have plenty of ingredients such as greens left over to make something else. Produce is often on sale (i.e. buy one get one free). Also they are cheaper at farmers markets and at Trader Joes. Prices at these places are half the price of my local supermarket and when there is a sale, I buy in bulk. I don't eat fully raw (just usually for lunch and sometimes breakfast) so I am able to get legumes in bulk for cheap whether in cans or in a bag and the same with nuts. LOL at the part you crossed out about the libido.

      This comment is old, but I was wondering what foods did you eat on a raw diet that helped you gain weight. I'm underweight and I'm considering going raw for health benefits. However, I'm concerned I'll lose even more weight than I already have. Especially since I don't have the greatest appetite(I have a small appetite and poor digestion)

    Have you guys notice that RUclipsrs who talk about raw food vegan 80/10/10 diets usually live in tropics? Or somewhere damn warm? Where fruit and veg grows all year and all kinds of superfoods are there commonly available for low prices. Place and environment tends to change your habits and energy and lifestyle. I do believe raw vegan diet works, but not if you're European making €700/month when €350 goes to rent, enjoying life and friends, having family, travelling only once a year, all on budget. Not buying meat, dairy, alcohol, sweets, cigarettes, ready meals - saves money big time, but even without that it's often on the edge. Organic fruit and veg is just generally expensive (and it comes from ridiculous destinations), that's why people usually combine it with bread, spread, pasta, rice, yogurt, nuts, sauces. If individual is one to blame, this system is also a part of the problem. What Kristina has on that carpet I don't eat in a week. And trust me I want and sometimes do. But I can't go broke.

      You're absolutly right mirecek. Just loved to read your realistic comment. But you know, macrobiotics for example has a little bit different nutrition concept than raw vegan, but what's interesting to learn about that is that it concentrates a lot of ideas such as: consuming only what it's naturally produced on your geographical zone, consuming food of the season, etc... If you are really interested in the issue as me for example, you can search a little bit more and, most important, you must find your own truth about "what to eat"... Your questions are very important! But, for example.. I'm an european too. You can start by searching for EUROPEAN SOLUTIONS xD (sounds strange). I usually spend more money in organic food (I don't buy everything organic!!!! still not possible yet -.-), nuts, seeds... But the rest: the veggies and fruit, not spending so much! If you invest in variety...I don't eat everyday or everyweek raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, [another expensive one]berry... Alwzys try the store that sells cheaper all of this. It's hardworking :( but we must fight to change things a little bit... for us and for society.

      Basically xDDDD: I believe that in our own place we can find health in all that grows around. Find out what grows and lives in the place that you also live and take the same principles that you consider important to health.

For instance they approve diet drinks laced with aspartame and allow Monsanto to continue to operate and force the average American to consume GMO products. Just say nutritionists recommend!!! Meh, maybe not. For the hardcore, yeah it's a waste. But a lot of people watch K's vids because they are just curious to see what she's saying now, if she is still trying to push an unsustainable lifestyle (like spending 20 bucks a day on just YOU, which is almost impossible for most people, including me), Or is she making her "recipes" with the same damn ingredients every single time. Go ahead, take a look if you haven't. She is like the raw vegan version of a taco bell! Lastly, it's very interesting to know she is willing to get money from advertisers who blatantly push animal products that go against this life she is so devoted to. I think it's rather interesting.

    Thanks Kristina. You are truly an inspirational guide. I just started eating fully raw. It's been about a month. And yes Daneen, or for the others. I can eat about 10-12 bananas, 2-3 apples, and berries and salad and whatever else in one sitting. And it gets easier because it is all you eat. And it is very easy. I can actually eat about 2-3 heads of collards and kale and maybe about 10-12 tomatoes and whatever else I want to eat in one sitting. And the results are amazing. I am still losing weight. You do have to eat enough. I totally believe you Kristina. I am still hungry after some of my meals. UMMMM... Eat up.

    I think it's really important to mention that everyone's body systems are very different. I've been fully raw for four years now and am a dancer, zumba instructor, and marathon runner. Sorry but eating that many cherries, although easy to do and delicious as well, have me doubled over in some serious pain in the restroom very similar to taking a harsh laxative..even after being used to eating them every day. Cudos to you for being able to handle that. Lol. I like my fruit but love my veggies, raw or slightly steamed.

    • @whitelighthealer7901
      @whitelighthealer7901 6 лет назад +1

      If cherries , or any fruit for that matter, doubles you over, it's not the fruit...it's what's on the fruit, eg. toxic sprays. Clean your fruit and vegetables with a vinegar and water bath, or a 3% H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) and distilled water solution. Then enjoy your food without pain :-)

    so cool that you did this education and could incorporate rawfood in it. :) Where did you study (which college/university)? And I think I have had that problem, I eat to little, but it´s hard to find enough food on 100% raw, or it´s to expensive... so I eat vegan but not fully raw. I have succesfully starting to eat much more carbohydrates and much less fat. but the dietist I see now, says I should eat an ordinary vegan diet, i.e. more fat and protein :P so hard to keep on track without support... :(

    • @nellatt3538
      @nellatt3538 11 лет назад

      I totally agree with you Lina, support is very important when doing something like that. And the same problem with 100% raw, it's getting expensive as I need to eat a lot now to get all the calories I need.. :/

    • @DansaMigVild
      @DansaMigVild 11 лет назад

      Nell Att true it´s not a cheap lifestyle, but there ARE ways to eat cheaper. for example, here apples and carrots arecheap so I buy alot of them. Also berries can be cheap sometimes. And I´m gonna grow more myself this year! although I must wait til the snow is gone :P like may /june. You can also eat "raw til 4"which means raw for breakfast and lunch, but vegan high carb for dinner. (rice, potatoes, pasta etc. with tomatosauce or such) hugs!! :)

    How is it possible to eat all that fruit without having problems with your sugar levels? Fruit is very high in sugars, especially something like a banana... and that much fruit! My mother is a diabetic and her nutritionist, who specializes in diabetic diets, recommends limiting this type of fruit intake... what do you do for protein??? do you have any references to scientific papers or studies showing this type of diet is healthy or balanced, or safe? I don't mean to sound rude at all, I am just genuinely curious how this works... It would be interesting to try...

      The sugars in fruit are different to the sugars in cakes, cookies etc. A person with diabetes can eat fruit. The body breaks these sugars down easily because it has less molecules. Fructose, glucose, lactose, look their diferences up.

    800 calories in a meal? Um, how about no. Doesn't matter where your calories come from, if you eat more than you burn, you gain weight. 800 calories is 2 full meals for normal people.

    • @emilyrose5282
      @emilyrose5282 10 лет назад

      Actually many people who go on the fully raw diet actually see weight loss no matter how many calories they eat (many eat over 3500 calories a day and are still sticks). It's counter intuitive and seems illogical but it occurs.
      Kristina is eating enough for her. Like she said, she runs 7-8 miles a day which means she should be consuming at least 2500 calories a day. 800 is not unusual. I need about 2400 calories a day because I workout about 60 minutes a day plus perform a lot of walking.

      In another video she says that she spent 100/ week or was it every 2 weeks? while starting a fully raw diet; while in college...cheaper fruits bought in bulk can provide you an alternative, according to what you are willing to spend on your grocery budget. A heathier vegan diet can be done on a low budget or high budget...depending on which fruits/ vegetables, you choose...more exotic and not in bulk(more expensive)...less exotic and more common fruits/ vegetables bought in bulk(minimize grocery expenses). Your health is one of the most important things to take care of because your body needs to last you an entire lifetime, but it can be done; while minimizing grocery expense, largely by making the choice to buy common low cost fruits and vegetables, in bulk. There are co-ops, farmers markets, and even some, if not all, grocery stores will sell bulk by the caseload, at a discount. I would try typing into the RUclips search bar: fully raw organic diet on a budget, to get more ideas.

    Alright... this was incredibly helpful. I started eating raw about a month ago and I've been experiencing AMAZING benefits. But I've been STARVING and I've been eating way too many nuts because I don't know what else to do. But watching this just made me realize that I need to eat WAY more fruits and veggies. Thank you!

    I think that some protein needs to be added. If you want raw protein you can always have sprouted legumes and grains. They are raw and give the body much needed nutrients. People on long term raw can have serious thyroid issues and protein deficiency. That being said, I want to go more raw, but will include raw nuts, seeds and sprouts.

    "Moderation is best" said Cleobulus Lindius. Yes, raw food is excellent for your diet but it must be only a PART of your diet. Consuming all kinds and varieties of foods with moderation is better. This way you will get the necessary energy for your life, provide yourself with everything that needs to be provided, you will not have cravings, you will have the luxury to choose and play with the tastes. If you can't hold yourself on the matter of food and the quantity is more important for for you than quality, then yes, vegan raw food is the perfect diet for you because the amounts of food are extremely large and you can eat constantly without any guilt. But it is not the best for yourself. Your blood sugar is going to be highest than the clouds, the phosphorus, protein and calcium is never going to be enough and it is exhausting to eat only cold food especially when you don't leave in tropical parts of earth! MODERATION guys! Eat everything, do your meditation, try to keep balance between between everything and then YES you are going to feel happy, be healthy and full.

    Vegan=Expensive. I would like to go vegan, i am currently a vegetarian, but the thing that worries me about the vegan diet is that food won't last long, fruits and veggies can become rotten if kept for a long time, i do shopping once a month, by the time i get to the next month i would've waisted so much food. I am reconsidering my options...

    • @tifharrison2152
      @tifharrison2152 10 лет назад +3

      You can always freeze a lot of it which will also preserve nutrients better than keeping it fresh. I also but a lot of frozen vegetables for the same reasons and I'm not worried about my food rotting before I can consume it :)

      Tiffani Montague thanks a lot, I just feel weird going fully raw, even my transition from eating all sorts of junk and animal products was hard to do, I can't imagine completely cutting out cooked meals. I love warm food. So I am actually thinking of doing the fully raw till 4 diet and then I can take it from there. However I am inlove with the idea of eating raw for the rest of my life...

    • @tifharrison2152
      @tifharrison2152 10 лет назад +1

      +Leoba Bono I completely agree! Raw till 4 sounds like the way to go. There is also the option to go raw part time. 6 Days a week you're raw or raw till 4 and the 7th day you could spoil yourself. You'll still cut down on the possibilities of many diseases but won't have to feel that you're being deprived :) Just a thought

I'm not sure about going full raw just yet but I'm here to learn. I've been an athlete my whole life but now trying to get in the modeling world and I want to be as healthy as possible. I do slip up at times but mainly live a healthy lifestyle. I want to be more educated on the topic so I can do better. I'm sooooo glad I found out about you and this movement through one of my favorite singers Chrisette Michele. She recommended you and I'm so glad she did! Keep up the great work! WOW-what a different way to look at food-actually what is for and how much you NEED to eat for your body to do the work it needs to do. It is more "I have" (abundance) to eat this amount of this food in order for my body to function instead of "I can only" (restrictive) have a certain amount of food. Eye opening! Thank you!

    Not sure why so many hateful comments. I find your videos inspiring. As a medical professional it's based on sound principles. I've never, ever seen anyone present to the office or hospital with high lipid levels, high blood pressure, or diabetes that eat a diet primarily consisting of fresh fruit and vegetables. Please people do some research with peer reviewed literature using sound principles and don't be so quick to believe that fruits need to be restricted because of sugar- there are many more factors that come into play here. KRISTINA I'm trying to go raw but not quite there yet- please continue to post videos for the new, transitioning subees.

    We had our intership trough school on Hungary, and me and my friend usually sat side by side in the morning on the couch either eating big bunch of bananas and/or drinking a very chunky smoothie (since we didn't have anything else to smash our fruit than a fork). I still do that sometimes. But usually I just go for a big batch of green smoothie. It refreshes me in the morning and keeps me full until lunch time rolls around. It's amazing what smoothies can do!

    Thank you for this video. New to the raw food diet, have been trying to find ways to make this logical, affordable, practical and just possible in my day-to-day.
    I find you to be inspiring, beautiful and informative. I also find that this diet is also much easier for those who live in areas that allow one to grow year round, or have access to an organic co-op or whole sale market.
    With that said, one can still eat healthy, and juice while still eating organic fish, whole grains and dairy

    I've really started to fall off the mostly raw wagon. I mean, I still eat very high carb, but so much of my intake has been cooked food like rice or potatoes, because either money has been tight, or I'll have fruit but it ends up not being enough for the day. But part of my issue is that I've been missing a whole meal! I'll wake up close to lunch time, so I'll eat a couple bananas for "breakfast" then go right into lunch. I end up having to eat twice as much for lunch and dinner which is crazy, then I end up bingeing higher calorie foods. But re-watching all of Kristina's videos has helped. I just hope I can get my money situation sorted out a bit more.

    I started going fullyraw just over a month ago and didn't have ANY cravings or "fall off" 80-10-10rv until today. Today I ate bread. I'm not beating myself up about it, I mean, it's one day, a little bread. Wish it wasn't in the house but I have a family. :-) But I was confused why this happened after a full month going strong. In watching this video I realized that I've gone small on my portions over the last week--especially at dinner time--and I'm sure that's why I had cravings. Thank you!
