sugar is sugar, fruits have lots of fiber so they are absorbed slower but thats about it.

    • @mirandamage
      @mirandamage 5 лет назад +7

No. The sugar is the same. The difference is that fruit has fibre and micronutrients that make it healthy. Juice is no better than soda because all of the healthy parts of the fruit have been stripped and you're left with the sugar

I think that's a beautiful diet, but I'd much rather replace some of that fruit for veggies, especially the salad! Wouldn't it be just as healthy to have the greens, topped with green beans, cherry tomatoes, sliced carrots, snap peas...anything but all that fruit?! I just think I'd get sick of the sweetness constantly. And I assume my glycemic index would be off the charts?! Why do so many raw vegans choose nothing but fruit and skip the veggies? SO confused about this.

Take the meat, cheese, milk and other grocery items off your grocery list and you'll be paying about the same amount for the veggies and fruits when you get to the check out. I did that today and was surprised that even with the price of a juicer added, it didn't wreck my budget. :) So, in the long run, it isn't really expensive at all.

jesus.. How does she pack all that in? even with no meat, if I ate 7 bananas at once I'd be sick. I tried eating 2 once because they looked like they were getting ripe and I wanted to puke. I couldn't eat half of what she says she eats in a day and I'm a 185 pound bear.

lol... what does eating vegan have to do with morality?...lol... I never said I wanted to be vegan, I just ate a delicious pork burrito from tacos mexico around the corner.. I'm not interested in being vegan... All I said was I don't see how anyone can eat 7 bananas in one sitting because after 2, I'd already be sick of banana and if I forced down 3 or 4 I'd be close to vomiting. If you can eat a half dozen in one sitting on a daily basis like this chick says she does, power to ya! I was just making a comment that I thought some other people might share and with 9 likes, at least a few people agreed...

    HI Kristina,
I noticed that on this particular day meal you eat mostly fruit and a small amount of salad greens. Where to you get all your nutrients from aside from fruit such as proteins or vitamins from animals products such as organ meats and healthy fats? Do you take any supplements? Also, how do you keep your blood sugar levels in tact which such a high fruit diet?

  • @theguyfromwalgreens

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I'm new to some of these videos about vegan lifestyles, meals, and whatnot. But it doesn't seem possible to eat that many veggies and fruit, and not explode or have to go to the bathroom all day. Let alone the cost of all raw produce.
Unless you're a millionaire, how in the world can anyone afford that much raw produce to eat on a daily basis?

    • @MiNilovesJoSe

The same money u spend on fast food and meat at the deli can equal to buying fruits and veggies, people spend 20-60 dollars at a restaurant when u can buy all that on produce...

Valeria Villa Keyword here is "sustainable". Your diet cannot be "sustained" if you depend on the presence of your local Whole Foods in order to stock your fridge. Also, coconuts and avocados, which are indisputably staples of a vegan/raw vegan diet due to their unique amino acid profiles and saturated fat content, do not grow in most regions of the world. How will vegans save the planet if most people in Africa, India, China, Japan, etc., do not have access to the resources or the stores to purchase these things, let alone access to land to even attempt to grow them?
The vegan diet is a luxury of upper middle/middle class white people. Please prove me wrong.

I had a green smoothie for breakfast today, and I crave more!! I heard going vegan can also help clear up acne, I'd love if you can talk about how going vegan can help with inner and outer beauty in one of your videos! I'm 16 and very inspired to go vegan by you, and i have really low self-esteem because im overweight for my height, and have a face covered with oily acne DX Btw, I'm SUPER glad that i've started this challenge!

Breakfast: banana, kiwi, & blackberry smoothie bowl topped with pom seeds and orange & grapefruit slices on the side. Lunch: a spinach, purple cabbage, mango, red pepper, & cucumber salad with a lemon and basil dressing. Dinner: Another huge salad, kale, spinach, zucchini, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, and a few slices of avocado.Compared to what you showed us in the video..I feel like my portions are a lot smaller but it's because it's all I can fit! Maybe my stomach is just smaller? I wish it wasn't because when I have cravings I can't even fit a fruit:P

Depends on where you live and your circumstances.
She's mentioned that she's part of a fruit and vegetable co-op, so eating this way is likely very affordable for her.
For instance, my neighbor has a persimmon tree whose branches hang in my yard, which means free persimmons I don't even have to water. I also have two orange trees, a strawberry patch, and a ton of other fruit and vegetable plants growing on my property... so eating healthy is super cheap for me - just go out in the yard and pick what's good today. If I don't want what we have that day, I also live near a ton of fruit groves, so finding plant based foods is pretty easy for me and quite cheap. We're not raw vegan, in fact, I'm the only vegan in the house, but I'm trying to get closer to it. All I really buy for the house is nuts, seeds, beans, oil, vinegar and rice. It's not perfect, but compared to the standard American diet I was eating a couple of years ago, it's leaps and bounds better, and the difference in my health is night and day.

Raw is worse than cooked food. Cooking food helps your body brake down the plant material and unlocks nutrients otherwise unavailable to the body. But She looks pretty good, and every diet works for someone.

    • @losergriefersonsl
      @losergriefersonsl 10 лет назад +8

DaCamponTwee That's actually not true about cooking. Cooking actually breaks down the enzymes in fruits and veggies and makes them lose nutrients. Canned cooked green beans have way less nutritional value than fully raw green beans.

Eleanor Moxley Belladonna Wexhome Actually, It depends on what you're cooking. For example, tomatoes become more bioavailable to the human body when cooked then when eaten raw. Same goes for starchy foods such as tubers (potatoes, yams, etc.) and squashes. Eating certain foods, such as sweet potatoes, raw are actually harmful to the human body. You can find plenty of studies on this topic.

Why do you beleive we need more than 90g of sugar a day? She ends up consuming like 2500 calories a day. The majority of people don't run 6-8 miles in one day. This is not a universal diet and people think they can just eat all of this sugar and all of these calories and be healthy but really they are going to gain weight and be prone to disease. The average American should not have more than 90g a day. Good for her to be able to burn all of that off.

    • @nadinebradley2895

I am vegan too. Obviously you're going to lose more weight while eating veggies, fruits and low fat carbs than you would a processed diet. Its actually 1500 for women and 2000 for men. The majority of your plate should contain vegetables, fruit is great but it shouldnt monopalize a diet. A low calorie diet is extremely healthy if it is not below 1200

+Raluca Adina Buta you probably have low stomach acid levels and were getting too much insoluble fiber in your diet (unfortunately, my favorite veggies are mostly filled with insoluble fiber). I usually get pain and nausea after my smoothies and salads. I am trying to remedy it with probiotics and herbal teas right now. I am not fully raw (kind of unintentionally raw 'til 4, actually, but completely accidental. I have absolutely nothing against cooked food).

Mango Madi First of all, picking and choosing anecdotes to back your case is not how science is conducted. Secondly, let's assume that her high sugar diet is optimal for people with hypoglycemia... If a diet is good for people with hypoglycemia, does that mean that it is good for everyone? No, it doesn't. A common treatment for hypoglycemia is the consumption of sugary beverages, such as coca cola. Does this mean that coca cola is good for everyone? No, it doesn't.
Please talk to a physician before following in Kristina's footsteps.

      Mariana L
"You lost credibility when you said she doesn't get enough complex carbs lol, fruits ARE complex carbs."
The carbohydrates in fruits are NOT complex carbohydrates. As I implied previously, they ARE simple carbohydrates. The sugar in fruit = simple carbohydrates.
      "She's fine on sugar intake."
Yes, she is indeed fine on simple carbohydrate intake. That is self-evident, and I never claimed otherwise.
"The sugar contained in the fruits are broken down by the fiber in the flesh."
Fiber doesn't break down anything; however, it does lower the glycemic index of fruits.
"and there's protein in all kinds of vegetables..."
I never claimed that one cannot get adequate protein on a vegetarian diet; I merely stated that the diet shown in the video does not seem to supply an optimal amount of protein.
"...she's eating them raw too so she's getting them in their most natural form...."
Firstly, you committed a logical fallacy called the appeal to nature (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_nature) Natural does not always mean good.
Secondly, why is cooking unnatural? And, what is wrong with cooking?
Thirdly, all of the scientific research that I have read on the matter shows that cooking sometimes decreases the number of nutrients available for absorption, and, other times, increases the number of nutrients available for absorption. The research has shown that the healthiest preparation method depends on the vegetable and the type of nutrients that we wish to maximize.
I'm not sure why you didn't check your facts before making these claims... Whenever I make a claim, I generally check the Internet to make sure I'm not mistaken.

Far TOO much fructose (natural sugars within the fruit), the only reason this isn't having an impact on her is due to her burning off that sugar with her running. If she had more green's, beans basically more vegetables this would be MUCH healthier. I personally think this is rather dangerous, that much sugar can lead to many health problems for instance diabetes/hypoglycaemia and a myriad of other problems. There's no denying she has some AMAZING recipes on her channel, but this is NOT a healthy diet and viewers NEED to be aware of this.
