Kids were holding signs in the windows begging the cops for help. The killers had been dead for over an hour. There had been no gunshots since. Cops still decided the kids pleading for help were some kind of trick and didn't go in for a while longer. Kids died from injuries that could have been treated. That's only a tiny part of what went wrong that day and I suggest looking into it.

What were you expecting when they changed their slogan from "protect and serve", to "all that matters is we go home at night"? They stopped even looking for crimes, and started busting up homes over victimless use of plants, and the whole system was behind it, and people STILL refused to look. Refused to care. And they do it every day. So the idea that some random person could carry a gun on school grounds where any kid could take it from them and have access to many other guns from many other idiot teachers… teachers are just people and most people are dumb is what I’m saying I guess. @@HeatherHolt I don’t personally believe that would make classrooms safer. It takes a lot of training to become proficient with a firearm and even more time on top of that to know how to handle close quarter combat with hostages. This is also training that has to be maintained, alongside the other training we already do yearly on education and child development. On top of all of that, while I firmly believe that I would do whatever it take to defend my students, I don’t know that I’ve ever been half so scared as the children and the teachers in that classroom were. I would be lying if I said I knew 100% that I could keep my cool, get my students to safety, and get a clear shot off on an intruder while being fired at.
I would also like to mention that, while I am not personally struggling with this right now, many teachers are feeling completely burnt out. Already teachers feel underfunded and unsupported, asking them to provide police services on top of providing an education and social, emotional, and behavioral services is just more than we can handle and more than we’re qualified to handle.
TLDR: I think it would hurt more people than it help, and I would be absolutely terrified of an elementary school student getting their hands on their classroom gun. lol Sorry for the TED talk!

That really clarifies what happened during the incident.
There will be a lot of finger-pointing between all the participants.
The whole incident is like a nightmare.
That whole community will be fighting about the incident for a long time.
Excellent explanation and analysis, very helpful.
    Thank you for the video.

The man using hand sanitizer was probably the doctor/nurse on site, if not he was a medic. If you watch the entire video you can tell. He was waiting close... but behind so he could treat injured immediately. You also see him and the paramedics 'staging the area' while for some incomprehensible reason the police waited to go into the room.
Both of the teachers were alive when they finally got into the room and passed on the way and in the ER. It's disgusting the level of incompetence the chief and many others displayed that day.

One of the teachers that died was the wife of an officer in the hall. The officer was on the phone with her as he was in the hall because she called to let him know she was shot and was dying. He was ready to encounter the gunman, but the other officers took his gun and escorted him out of the building. Arredondo knew there were people alive and suffering. They never tried the doors to see if they were unlocked. They never tried to enter the classroom despite officers with rifles and shields arriving.

Try to imagine Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry' character showing up on the Uvalde scene and seeing 19 cops hanging out in the hallway slathering hand sanitizer on their hands while a lone gunman is roaming around freely killing children. Then imagine someone trying to tell Harry he is not authorized to go in after the 'punk'. There is a reason why so many people loved that Dirty Harry character. One of them is that they fear the cops may be wind up being like these Uvalde 'bureaucratic' cops that stand around waiting for someone to tell them to do the right thing.
