This sounds amazing and I’d like to try it however in my further research I came across a couple of articles that mentioned this supplement can worsen Hashimoto’s symptoms due to inhibiting or blocking the uptake of thyroid hormones within the cell. Is this true? If so, I’m a little confused why it would be recommended....

Hi there are some contraindications for this supplement: People with peripheral vascular disease, high blood pressure, liver disease due to alcoholism (cirrhosis), diabetes, kidney disease, or a history of seizures should not take Acetyl L-Carnitine.
Like with all supplements, please consult your practitioner before supplementing and especially if you are taking these medications: AZT, doxorubicin, isotretinoin (Accutane), valproic acid (Depakote), or blood thinning medications.

To be sure, is Hashimoto's disease the same as HYPERthyroidism? My mom was diagnosed with HYPERthyroidism quite a few years ago, she did the radiation treatment which flipped it over to hypothyroidism. A couple of months ago she got a severe case of Covid and thankfully she's doing much better, but now the doctor has told her that it threw her thyroid medication off and now she has HYPERthyroidism again. She's dealing with prolonged symptoms, including brain fog, muscle aches, loss of appetite, insomnia and the works. I came across L-Carnitine as a solution for muscle ache due to Covid but I'm unsure how that may play out specifically for HYPERthyroidism. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

@@stayraw123 The biggest gained benefit is feeling energized - I no longer feel out of breath when lifting or doing strenuous exercise and feel I can trust my body when I call upon it when doing laborious tasks. I take synthroid in the early morning on an empty stomach and take the vitamins around 5 pm. I don't feel as though the Carnitine is interacting with it so keep them that far separated. Dr. Eric Berg is where I learned about Carnitine.

Iam no doctor (disclaimer), but did some research. My conclusion and personal advise/input below.
ALCAR may not be safe; (below 12 points)
    1. When you have epilepsy
    2. Associated with higher risk of prevalent coronary artery disease
    3. Bipolar disease (in people with bipolar disorder).
    Futhermore
    4. Lower blood sugar and higher triglycerides (in people with diabetes).
    5. Trouble sleeping (best to take a bit in the morning when you come out of bed).
    6. Higher blood pressure.
    7. Headaches.
    8. When you got clogged veins and have problems with hart arteries.
    9. Seizures...
    10. Neuropathy.
    11. Hypothyroidism.
    12. Diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting
Taking to much- and take to much every day.. gives the higher risks. The less you take the more safe it will be! You could use maybe 100 mg (open a capsule with 500 mg and take out the powder) take a fifth of it now and then on days when you have a lot to do. Don’t exaggerate with 500 mg or even 1000mg daily etc etc! Keep days maybe weeks months that you do not use it. Natural it comes in verry little quantities from, for example red meat. So logic to keep it small. Not to exaggerate. And if possible do not take at all.. is my opinion. When I feel down I normally take a good walk in nature 2x a day. A nice dog can make wonders to. And I make songs to help other people. That gives a lot of energy to! But not every case is the same I know. I don’t want to judge you!
I made a song for depressed people. Goes about an accapella group that goes around in the city. And they visit people that are depressed or sick and then they sing this song for them at home or in hospital to build them up. They are still seaking members. And they hope you will join them to sing with them for other people to! I hope my vision will make your day, and that it may carry you, give you hope inpsaration, energy and vision. Check out the song; Cleaning up my room from Martin Mill (acapella)

This is such bad advice. & no real expert should be citing ‘stuff they just googled’ as research. NO. People who need their T3 & T4 meds to have functional thyroid process should NOT take carnitine (or alcar) supps. Stop. Unfollow this bozo. So irresponsible. I had hashi’s and stage 3 thyroid cancer (thyroid removed) and for 20 yrs I’ve see top doctors at Stanford Hospital and Moffit Cancer Center. Follow real experts & doctors. Not bozo the clown here.
