  • In this video, I try to answer the BIG question about whether or not you should be eating cow’s milk dairy products if you have Hashimoto’s. I explain how dairy disrupts healthy gut bacteria balance, promotes inflammation, causes symptoms and can be very hard to give up (especially if you are already on a gluten free food plan!). I have some good tips on how to get used to non-dairy milks, what I like for breakfast and some other ideas to get you started on a dairy free plan.

    You can’t have lentils either. It’s frustrating looking for gluten-free pasta. Basically you can’t enjoy life. No ice cream, no nothing 🤣. It’s beyond frustrating. I gave up everything. High fat diet has worked for me and a lot of olive oil. Im glad I found this channel because you explained how there was a 2 3 day delay in stomach irritation. I’d eat cheese or ice cream and bam it hurt.
    I’d love to enjoy a beer or drink with friends, so if anyone reads this I have a question? What drinks can you have besides beer? That are gluten free or low gluten? I’d love to just have one or two with friends. Again, thanks for the information

    Thank you for this great video. I have to stop dairy because I’ve been feeling awful after consuming. However, nuts and specifically almonds are worse than dairy due to their extreme concentration of oxalates. Not sure what the oxalate levels are in hemp but as of now Hashimoto’s will not improve upon consumption of almonds in any form.

    I don’t have hashimotos but I think I have celiacs and I had been watching videos about celiacs before I gave up gluten and I gave up dairy at the same time. This has been a great video. Thank you. I will definitely try GT’s fermented coconut milk yogurt.

    Does this also include eggs? I don’t have problem being dairy free & gluten-free. What I have a problem with is what I can eat especially since I’m on a low oxalate diet. Therefore, I can’t go to the bathroom??

      I cannot say about your personal diet options, because you are not my client - we would need to do food intolerance testing to know what foods work best for your body. In this case, it's best for you to check in with your physician. thanks for watching!

    I wonder why it’s a 2 sided thing. When there is probiotics in yogurt and other nutrients. I don’t entirely believe in this. I had stopped having dairy and found myself having lower calcium and symptoms of osteoporosis. So there needs to be actual evidence backing this.

      If you are dairy intolerant, I suggest a Dairy Free probiotic supplement you can get from your local health food store. Also, try InnerEco - fermented young coconut water - my FAVORITE! Kombucha, sauerkraut and other fermented non-dairy foods are good sources of beneficial bacteria too! :)

    • @SaraHyattNutrition
      @SaraHyattNutrition  4 года назад +1

      Dairy products have been shown in research to affect gut bacteria. If you have gut issues, I would suggest a dairy free approach to see if things improve.

    Hey Sara, thank you so much for this. I have had hashimoto's since the birth of my 4th child about 15 years. I was wondering how you feel about nuts, seeds and peanut butter. I love nuts, seeds, nut butters and used to eat a lot daily. Last February, after reading Dr. Gundry's book on lectins and autoimmunity, I stopped all nuts/seeds/nut butters. I can't really say I noticed a difference, although my dose of Synthroid was reduce at my last Dr. appt and I noticed my hair getting thicker and growing faster (maybe due to not consuming all the phyto nutrients. So I am curious as to your thoughts. Also, you mentioned gluten free grain free granola. Do you make your own, or do you have a favorite brand? Thank you for sharing and have a great day!

    • @SaraHyattNutrition
      @SaraHyattNutrition  4 года назад +2

      Hi Melissa, nut intolerance is definitely very individual. If that food was causing inflammation for you and exacerbating your Hashimoto's, removing them is indeed a great way to help heal your body. Not everyone has the same response to high-lectin foods. I tolerate them just fine so they are a part of my food plan and I have a few recipes for grain free recipes over on my instagram channel. I love the Bubba's grain free vanilla bourbon granola - I have yet to make one on my own that I love more. Thanks so much for watching!
