Same, it made me feel so very bad every time I hurt the precious beast, so I'd stall and ride it around the arena for a while

I love the tiny detail of how it shifts how it walks depending on if it's just walking vrs actively chasing you. It starts out just wandering like a gently after you but once it's aggro'd it quickens the pace and starts really stomping all over.

God this one was so irritating. I don't think I even did it the way you are intended. I used the larger jump you get from jumping off the horse to reach his backside and even then just barely.

Hahaha guys chill I discovered how to get on her fast on your first try. Go to the little hole on the other side of the map not the one that is closest and from there shoot arrows at her, after go inside to the opposite hole and slowly peak at her without being looked at. Trust me she will look into the hole then you can either go through the hole onto her string things on her side of the head or you can climb her back.

In the original Phaedra let out a high-pitch, pained squeal whenever Wanderer stabbed it. Now it's a more generic beastial roar :/
(8:57 and 9:25) I actually slightly prefer this specific roar sound-effect as it more vividly sounds painful to me, a little less alien than the original
One of the many reasons why the remake sucks
I actually like the “Generic beast roar” because I think it makes more sense given the lore. I understand the argument of it removing the uniqueness the original gave, but to me, given that these colossi are supposed to be almost ethereal representations of what’s basically a demon, I think it makes sense that they don’t really sound like animals given that that’s not really what they are. It almost makes them sound like living mountains rather than animals, which imo, adds a unique flavor that I personally haven’t really seen in a lot of monster media.
@@gottalight3574 I can understand why you’d think that, but I personally completely disagree. I’ll freely admit that I’m biased seeing as this remake was my introduction to the game, but after having seen footage from the original, my only real complaints are Wander’s face and the camera constantly trying to correct itself for no reason. Other than that, I enjoyed the ever living hell out of it. But I can completely understand why you didn’t.

I think the remake was an amazing and faithful adaptation
They changed the sounds it makes when striking it.
Late to the party, but the sounds it makes are horrifying. It truly sounds like it's screaming out in pain.
This one is horrible and I mean horrible it takes forever for him to bloody peek inside since his animation trigger is so specific
And when he does bloody get in the trigger he walks away

Phaedra is almost peaceful, I felt really bad for killing it 😥
All Phaedra was doing was meditating peacefully and then Wander came to kill them....

Only in the remake, because in the original ps2 game it was just trying to kill wander whenever you were in the map, in the remake it just ignores you, there are many gameplay differences from the remake, you can grab and land in places you couldn't in the original game
I love this boss battle for one sole reason... The music.
Weirdly enough, in my first fight with Phaedra I attacked from the front. It dangled its head in front of the tunnel where I was hiding, so I ran up and grabbed one of its dangly braids and climbed up to its head.
This Colossus always reminded me of a Brachiosaurus for some reason. It also reminded me of a horse, too.

The environment helps a lot with fighting the colossi so one can't help but think that they were all supposed to be killed. It really goes against what the shaman believed, doesn't it?
I like to think that the environment was used for the colossi's creators as a mean to protect themselves from them, without realizing it could be used to destroy them centuries later.
Or that Wander is just resourceful and is taking advantage of the environment in his own way.
@@Rztro1544 it could be either of those but even outside of the arenas the environment almost screams that your supposed to kill these beasts, even the beasts own designe says to do so. So to me it almost seems like this was set up as a right of passage or something to revive your loved ones. Honestly the whole thing feels set up for that.

How do you make the colossi to decieve like this one did? I didn't understood how
just beat this one for the first time today, its really funny to me that while a lot of ppl apparently struggled with it, this one was the easiest for me thus far and only took me a few minutes, while for the others i needed guides and 20+ minutes lol 😓. Really love the first phase theme and design though, its probably my favorite colossus so far.

This moron won't lower his back for me. No matter what. Even guides aren't helping. It just isn't doing what it's supposed to.
Worst boss in the game bar none. The amount of sheer WAITING and dealing with its stupidity has driven me nuts ever since I first played this on the PS2.
People got so frustrated with this boss; but this was my fastest boss during first playthrough.

This is easily my least favorite colossus of all of them. A shame considering that a giraffe colossus should be one of the easiest to design for. Just make a tall ass skinny neck that's tough to climb. Done.

SPOODERMAN init You're probably right. Regardless, my main point was simply that its an uninteresting colossus, and that there were better ways to execute its general idea. I think even some of the location based puzzle colossi they cut, like the hog you had to get stuck in a rock formation, were better.

This Colossus is based on a Horse, not a Giraffe, Llama or Alpaca.
I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be a horse. Their official name is Kirin, the japanese version of the chinese Qilin, a chimeric creature that, while completely unrelated, is nowadays associated with the western unicorn. The body type overall resembles a horse more than a giraffe or an alpaca as well, at least in my opinion.
When I'm still young I don't really understand the storyline because I'm not good with english that time. When I learned the story i feel bad for killing all colossus

Freaking Boromir didn't have as many arrows as I shot into this prick point black staring it in the face and practically screaming I'M HERE YOU TWATWAFFLE and yet I still can't get it "distracted". The game completely relies on game mechanics, and those mechanics (camera controls, game controls, *this*) are completely broken. I truly don't get why people like this game.

Easiest boss up to now
Phaedra pisses me off with it's mechanic. She can either sit down and look through the entryways to the grave where you want it, or she'll look while standing which helps no one. Her AI sucks (shocker). The only things that keep her from being the worst to me is her design, " The Opened Way", and another fight that is underwater that I can't stand.

Phaedra why are you the most curious of colossi
Gaius spends half her time on the platform above a lake and is more hostile to wander behind malus who just spends half of her boss fight trying to kill wander with her explosive projectiles from her hands
Hydrus is a water serpent and spends her time in a lake
While you just follow a butterfly or peek into the hobbit like holes
Phaedra: look the place I live in is a good place but there’s no animals to follow so I just walk around and follow butterflies and the occasional avion

Everybody is mad at Phaedra for not wanting to easly peak on Wander. But, honestly, i think is the perfect representation of a sheep, deer or some other small hervivore: not very inteligent, just want to be left alone with his own busines xD

@@mylespando5192 Phaedra is supposed to be a "pacific" boss. The challenge is get on top of it, not fighting it. Once you get that, the boss is basically done.

Oh god...wow, unpopular opinion, but I think the PS4 version actually looks like crap compared to the original. Idk man, something just isn't right here.
Emilio Valdovinos it may just be the camera issues, I remember them being much less of a problem...plus I really don't like Wander's plastic face. It was excusable back in 2005 but this is 2018!
Buuut I may have been too quick to judge cause I just saw the Avion fight and that floored me.
But all in all I just prefer the more...dull color scheme of the original, made the world seem much more ominous to me, hyped up each fight in my head
@@adrianroque6990 I also love incredibly bad textures, a boring world, bad controls that are slightly better here, and having to press R1+triangle to grab stuff. Man the original looked like a perfect amazing title compared to a from a grounds up remake where everything is remade and new stuff added to make the world more alive.
