God, the sound design is so amazing.
When I can hear his joints grind against each-other from pulling back and swinging the enormous club, really helps eventuate just how old the ancient colossus is, and their immense strength. Really impressive.
Same thought! They really amped up everything with the ps4 remastered version
less the music, i want to hear more of those sounds and not the music
@@hotman_pt_ I disagree completely! The music is the strongest part of the game! The remakes sound design is incredible but when you hear the open way playing as you finally learn how to scale the colossus is one of the best moments in gaming.

Some colossus attack you at first sight, some others just watch you without attacking you, untill you provoke them. My theory is that the more aggressive colossus have already battled humans before, thus why their first intent is to kill you, the more neutral ones, that only attack when provoked, have never fought humans before, thus why they show no intentions of harm, and only attack in self-defense

@@sullymcdaniel4901Phalanx, the flying serpent in the desert, never directly attacks the player. Most of the big walking ones don't attack unless provoked. The sand worm is the most aggressive by far, and the bull and lion are close seconds.

My first time playing, this was the colossus that got me hooked. There's something really cinematic about this one.

@@MrKastroni Ouch, that's the kind of attitude that makes games nowadays so shitty. Far from a poorly designed game, the game is designed around patience and critical thinking, something a lot of headstrong players ignore and then blame on "poor game design".
@@masterspicy5696 Nah he's right. Love this game and it's a classic but for a game that makes climbing one of its primary mechanics the climbing is trash. Your character constantly rubber bands, disappearing and reappearing in different places as the colossus moves, and the physics are really inconsistent, sometimes you can't grab what appears to be a perfectly straight ledge and other times you can stand on apparently nothing while it tries to shake you off.
00:31 That just has to be one of the coolest pieces of music ever created. Both themes are just perfect at conveying a feeling and atmosphere. What an accomplishment this game was.

On my native land there's a tradition where certain people wears furry masks that resemble animals... Most of them looks a lot like Gaius. I always looked at gaius as a giant version of these people.

Marcos Angel Medina Wander killed the colossus cuz Dormin was split to sixteen pieces and the pieces are in those colossus and why Wander want to free Dormin cuz Dormin promised him that if he got free he can save the princess I forgot the name 😂😂

Everything about this battle is perfection imo.
The character design, the battle strategy, the AI behaviour, and more importantly; the scale and atmosphere.
Gaius is actually shorter than Quadratus and Phaedra, but it looks absolutely towering because of clever composition and frame design.
The Arena Platform is a flat plane raised high above the ground. Which gives a nice separation of clutter, and emphasises the colossus itself. But my favourite part is the clever use of comparison.
During the waking up cutscene, the camera pans to very cleverly show the Shrine of Worship in the far distance, looking shorter and stubbier compared to Gaius.
This makes it look much taller than it is.
I have no doubt, they put much more brainstorming and effort into that character specifically. They definitely realised they had something special once the character design was done.
Gaius looked like he was just sun-tanning in the beginning 😂

Took me so long to beat him the first time, probably 30 minutes. I did figure out that he had to hit that one spot. This game makes me grip my controller harder than any other

I like watching this game more than playing it.
I didn't even knock the armour off. Came to a RUclips video to see why the game kept telling me to do that even though I was on the second weak spot. Ended up just walking up it's weapon, jumping to its stomach and finishing that one. From there I was able to jump to the next arm platform, climb up to his head, and kill him.

Am I the only one that finds it really irritating that he climbs all the way up holding the sword, instead of climbing with 2 hands and only drawing it when he needs it? I mean climbing a massive collossus is hard enough, but to do it with one hand?
i think it would make more sense if he only drew it when your holding square on the week point

I spent more times on the tedious jump to get to him and swim back and forth than the actual boss itself, which I beat in at least 10 minutes the first time I did it. Took me a f**king hour to make the goddamn jump.
Me too! I was with a friend and we both take turns on trying to make that jump. We spent literally an hour 🤣

nice touch trying to escape at the end.
Came there to find out he has the hit the pad to break his weak armor been years thanks.
Between jumping the gap and figuring out what to do to break the armor, this fight was a pain in the ass.
But if that takedown isn't satisfying

I think you have to pretty much be next to the metal thing that he hits for him to do that attack.
if you’re close to it he will perform a stomp attack, but if you’re far from range he will rather throw its arm

I figured out you had to climb on the sword but couldn't go further than jumping on the legs.
I did the achievement to kill him without breaking his arm guard. Was pretty annoying but possible

Playing this after playing Sekiro was a bad idea, I'm getting more frustated than I should, and maybe I'm just an idiot but how the hell is "his armor seems brittle" a hint to "make him hit this part of the ground", I really want to like this game but climbing and riding the horse can be a pain in the ass
Gias has a great fight even if you don't know what to do. Don't know how to break the wristband? You don't have to! The game even rewards you for this with an achievement on the Ps4 and 5 versions! Though, you won't be able to hear the best use of " The Opened Way" in this game by doing this, but " Awe of the Power" is also a great piece detailing the shock of fighting this titan. Great boss!

@Dick Kickem I get what you mean. I was playing bioshock and bioshock 2 for a while and then went on to bioshock infinite. The muscle memory doesn't help so I totally understand where you're coming from

No it isnt standard ps4 he uses pro to haave 60 fps i have regular ps4 and its running at 30fps on the begining its annoying but later u will not see a difference if u are playing long time
Not only did i not know how to break his wrist. Id stab his wrist to make him move his arm up and at peak height id jump to his waist then crawl to his back got a gold trophy ojt of it though
