i thought it was part of her illusion technique? it seems as though you wouldn't be able to stand on illusions but her illusion attack in the second phase can hit you, so i don't see why she cant stand on illusory wires
I always thought she jumped onto her thrown daggers she suspended in the air with her weird magic shenanigans, but yeah, that wouldn't make much sense as it has nothing to do with illusion, still sounds cool though.

I love how in this fight, Lady Butterfly is still teaching Wolf even though she betrayed him She tells him never to doubt himself or he will lose, meaning he can't be scared or hesitate to fight a friend and let his feelings get in the way or he will lose She kicks away his sword and deflects almost every attack, but if wolf doesn't relent her guard eventually breaks. She's teaching him to keep trying When he beats her, she praises him for how strong he's gotten
She realises Owl only tasked her with dispatching Wolf so he could tie up loose ends, Owl doesn't love her as she loves him. "You'll die if you doubt yourself, boy", she turns the event into a final lesson
His game was playing in his favor. in my game, everyone fucking time, she automatically spawned her illusions at the start of phase 2. By the end of the Match, she spawned 4 times like the Pussy cunt she is. Meanwhile this guys game only spawns once smh
For me, this fight, although I haven’t beaten it, really is one of the best examples of how Sekiro stands out from DS but is still amazing. The combat is much more time based and you really have to focus on attacking rather than always playing defense. Plus the music is bloody incredible.
I’m shocked by how well they cast Lady Butterfly’s English VA. It almost sounds as if the Japanese VA knew how to speak English all along and just redid the scene in another language.

This is absolutely one of my favorites boss fights ever, so epic, i love small and fast bosses, that's why lady butterfly, sis friede are lady maria are among my favorites
I still can't believe the absurd quantity of adrenaline Lady butterfly made me take that day...couldn't speak, just breathed, listened, watched, reacted, on and on and on... My most honorable flex ever is beating her 1st try, no matter how harder bosses exist elsewhere, this boss will always be it.
Holy crap, this is the smoothest fight I have ever seen! How many times did it take for you to kill her? I noticed you're aiming for deathblows which is what a patient person would do.
If you notice, he has 3 charges on his Healing Gourd, which means he's progressed further down the other path the game allows you to travel. Smart move. I decided to fight her first instead of exploring the other trail. Man, I must have died at least 20 to 30 times to her. Finally managed to beat her half an hour ago and honestly need to lie down for a bit. This game is blowing my mind.
He did in the first try because if it were any of the tries other than the first one the cutscene wouldn’t have played! But clearly he has already defeated lady butterfly previously seeing that he knows all her moves and knew the exact spot where she would spawn in the second phase!
Can we talk about how this badass grandma is able to parry a Katana only using her feet? And on the same note, being able to crack the floor with her stomp
I love the way this fight works. The first phase of the fight hammers in, once and for all, that you have to break the enemies poise (fine, posture) in order to defeat them, while the second phase makes sure you're doing the opposite of what Dark Souls taught you and start attacking relentlessly, simply by having her regenerate. Add to that that her attacks are far more lenient compared to most of From's bosses (even tutorial bosses) by virtue of most doing little damage, while the more dangerous ones are easily telegraphed (not just by the "unblockable" symbol), and you have a tutorial boss that puts the pressure on you, but doesn't overdo it (Gundyr and Gascoigne may have been a bit too much there. Admittedly, I completely missed the music box so I was forced to get through the whole fight with his undivided attention). Perfect metaphor for Sekiro, Dark Souls and Bloodborne, all in the form of old Lady Butterfly: Be relentless, exploit every mistake, every opening, but be ready to have every mistake of your own be your downfall. Never thought Dark Souls is hard per se (it has bullshit moments, yes, Smelter Demon is forever burned in my mind...). It is simply merciless. On *both* sides of the coin.
Gundyr is piss easy though. And I wouldn't call this boss tutorial, if you do the main quest and kill Gyobu, the Bull and maybe Genichiro you'll have a bunch of HP and dmg upgrades that make this fight very easy.
I was supper aggressive in the second phase to not make the illusions trigger so I had to get a shit ton of parry’s to live and some how came on top without a second revive

just beat this boss early today, it was a really, really, REALLY fun fight, even tho I died more than 10 time, the fight was truly like dancing, you attack her 3-4 time and then get ready to deflect 2-3 of her attack, very harsh for the first boss but it was really fun too
Just a quick tip, if you don’t have snapping seed to counter her illusions, what I did was I just ran around until the illusions turned into those white butterfly thingies, dodge all that and you should avoid most of the damage
Fun Fact: First, Lady butterfly actually had only one phase Phase 2 would've been owl They removed this idea because owl was too hard, even for the most expert game testers They made owl a secret fight as a "Throwback" and gave lady butter fly actual butterflies

Fun Fact ~ for the first phase you can just literally spam the Nightjar Slash. If done right(spam away!) She won't even get a chance to attack leaving you with much more health for the 2nd. Doesn't work that good on second phase. She does sometimes tends to break out of it, but just start the spam again
Why wouldn’t it work for phase 2? IIRC the only new moves she gets are her illusion based attacks, but if you keep her pressured she’ll never have the chance to use them.

I didnt even know you could change the dialogue to engrish! Honestly the Japanese is immensely more fitting, and makes every cut scene sound beautiful. I am happy that Japanese is the default setting.
Just spent the last 3 hours fighting her, finally beat her. I said fuck the posture bar, only dodged her attacks and focused on the health. This is the first boss in any souls game where I actually had to memorize every single attack in her moveset and remember how to avoid/deflect it and which ones were punishable.
After playing dozens of hours to Sekiro, I just came to find out, looking at the video, that you could stop the unblockable kick attack from Lady Butterfly with a shuriken 🤣🤣
This fight took me at least 2 hours to complete and I died more times than I could count. Honestly in my opinion(and maybe it’s because Sekiro is a new game), this boss was harder than anything before in soulsborne. Never before have I died so much to a boss.
Yea i definitely had to walk away and come back to it the next day. They went all super-edgelord-tryhard with this game. "Lets make so you have get 3 parries in a row for riposte, yea? Yes lord miyazaki. That sounds perfect."
sdmfbastard I had to give up, level up more and come back. When I came back I had level 3 attack power and 4 charges on my healing gourd. The only reason I beat butterfly was because I used the dodge, counterattack stunlock cheese on her
sd98 nah, I think I went straight to her as soon as Hinata estate was available. Got her on my first try on second play through through, it’s super easy now
it just feels sooo unnatural that the health bar of the boss' are not at the middle of the screen the whole time and are so small instead of being gigantic. Anyway nice fights are waiting for us, thanks!
Evade attacks are REALLY good for this one Dodge left- attack Dodge right - attack Rinse and repeat And dont let her get back up It hits her 80% of the time

You can also cheese her by just side stepping into a slice staggers her every time and you slice faster than her, then just dodge is she starts doing her flurry attack
I have a somewhat stupid question: After this cutscene does it always take you back to Dilapidated Temple? Because once I beat Lady Butterfly I immediately alt tabbed to tell my friend and I guess I kinda missed a cutscene? Just wanna confirm if this is the only thing that happens after the fight, making sure I didn't miss anything.
...So I just realized that Lady Butterfly's explanation, "You'll die if you doubt yourself," isn't as cryptic as I first thought: She's not saying those words to Wolf as much as she's saying them to herself. "If I doubt myself, if I don't gain immortality here and now, then I'm going to die, one way or another: Be it from old age, or due to being swept away by Owl's and the Ministry's plans for Ashina."
Bro I remember dying to her when she was like 1/20 hp, I was screaming my soul out but then i remembered i can revive and it was one of the best feelings of my life.
In the story this fight happened before Sekiro could resurrect, meaning canonically he beat her the first try. He's pretty badass.

Took me about 6-8 hours to beat her but it was the most amazing feeling. She was a lot tougher than the guardian ape for me.
I fought her late game (got the mortal blade and beat guardian ape) and I also found her to be oddly difficult

Fun Fact ~ for the first phase you can just literally spam the Nightjar Slash. If done right(spam away!) She won't even get a chance to attack leaving you with much more health for the 2nd. Doesn't work that good on second phase. She does sometimes tends to break out of it, but just start the spam again
Why wouldn’t it work for phase 2? IIRC the only new moves she gets are her illusion based attacks, but if you keep her pressured she’ll never have the chance to use them.

I didnt even know you could change the dialogue to engrish! Honestly the Japanese is immensely more fitting, and makes every cut scene sound beautiful. I am happy that Japanese is the default setting.
Just spent the last 3 hours fighting her, finally beat her. I said fuck the posture bar, only dodged her attacks and focused on the health. This is the first boss in any souls game where I actually had to memorize every single attack in her moveset and remember how to avoid/deflect it and which ones were punishable.
After playing dozens of hours to Sekiro, I just came to find out, looking at the video, that you could stop the unblockable kick attack from Lady Butterfly with a shuriken 🤣🤣

This fight took me at least 2 hours to complete and I died more times than I could count. Honestly in my opinion(and maybe it’s because Sekiro is a new game), this boss was harder than anything before in soulsborne. Never before have I died so much to a boss.

sdmfbastard I had to give up, level up more and come back. When I came back I had level 3 attack power and 4 charges on my healing gourd. The only reason I beat butterfly was because I used the dodge, counterattack stunlock cheese on her
@@sdmfbastard after a year of experience now the game feels as easy as the others, we only had to get used to it.
sd98 nah, I think I went straight to her as soon as Hinata estate was available. Got her on my first try on second play through through, it’s super easy now

You can also cheese her by just side stepping into a slice staggers her every time and you slice faster than her, then just dodge is she starts doing her flurry attack

Because once I beat Lady Butterfly I immediately alt tabbed to tell my friend and I guess I kinda missed a cutscene? Honestly she reminded me a lot of melania from elden ring. Of course melania was tougher in my opinion but both are amazing boss fights.
