- Sorry about the mic quality, I need to get a new mic :(
Hey guys! This is probably my best video in the history of my channel, I spent hours upon hours researching and editing, and I lost my save twice (thanks Resolve). I had to redo the entire second half, then when I went back somehow the entire first quarter of the video got deleted, so I had to redo that too. It was painful, and I worked really hard to get this video out today. Sorry that it's shorter than the rest of my videos, I just tried to keep it concise because I don't want to make them drag on as I did with some of my others.
Anyway, this is a video on Flow State, and how it can be incorporated into Geometry Dash. I first take a look at what flow state is, then list off the benefits and finally look at the steps you can take to achieve it. I have had this idea for a long time, but I just have been mulling over. Now that I finally got around to it, I really hope you guys enjoy it! I honestly think it’s my best video and I tried to make it of the highest quality possible.
By the way, thanks for the support on my videos as of late, you guys are awesome :)
Enjoy!

Tizetre LOL i love this comment
but for a serious answer: i doubt he was in flow state lol he just got ridiculously lucky

I just realized I’m in flow state almost every time I play cello. Sick
you've probably been in it in multiple other things too you just don't known it
There were a few times I achieved this 'ultra instinct' like technique but didn't know how :/
Yo. Cello gang
Anything in particular you do that triggers it
@@Aozii not really it just kinda happens. Once I know a piece and can play it well it happens naturally
Flow state was a game changer for me. Watched the video today and changed my mindset completely. Tried playing my new hardest demon Wavebreaker off stream instead of on stream like I've done for the past week. I got so much more consistensy it was crazy. Truly appreciate you for making this vid. I'm beating it any day now, so close.
np man, i’m glad it’s working out for you! good luck!

His point still holds true.

Thank you for this video. I had failed at 95 3 times on Supersonic, and I beat it 20 minutes after watching this! This really helped me to focus while playing.
glad it helped you :)
Thank you so much I'm pretty sure this helped me beat nine circles! :D
no problem man! i’m so glad i could help you, and gg on NC :)
Thanks! :D
Another good tip is to excersise before playing the level you want to beat. During exercise, your body releases chemicals that make you feel happy in the sense making it easier to achieve your goals in GeometryDash

About the end part, "hard" and "engaging" i'd say are 2 things that sort of correlate to eachother and you need the sweet spot for challenge and for engagement
yes sir
@@norkbork you called me?
Also listening to music while playing helps me more than distracts... idk how that works but it does
that’s something interesting to consider, for me that does not work at all haha
by the way, i got the notification for your other comment and i saw what it said i just can’t seem to find it on this video, so i’ll just respond here-
thanks so much! it means a lot to hear that and i’m really glad you enjoyed :)
norkbork nice 👍 would you want a playlist?
RedRaine a playlist for what?
norkbork for focus on games I guess. It’s the one I listen to while gaming
I remember when I was grinding Acropolis for several hours, not knowing how much time it actually took and without realizing i was far and not remembering how i got that far until i was at the last wave woW
I always enter the flow state when I get far
that’s probably for the best haha
but if you can manage to get into it when you aren’t, you’ll get far a lot more often!
I get nervous when I get far, and that's how I messed up at the end part of nine circles (which is almost free imo) since I was literally about to faint
@@djl9452 i felt that.
Now that I really think about it, when I beat all of my major achievements I was in a flow state. It happened when I beat Subsonic, Bloodbath, Aftermath, and almost every extreme I've done. The only levels where I wasn't in this state were a couple levels that weren't my hardest demon at the time of completing.
that makes sense!
7:53 got goose bumps when the nostalgia kicked in . Very good video you deserve 1million views at least :)
pokémon gang
and thank you!
TYSM!! I watched this video and applied your tips and not joking, after 1 week of absolutely zero progress on Cataclysm, I beat it in 15 minutes. I can't thank you enough and this video is monumental.
BASED
Bruh, whenever I play a level for like 30 mins and get really concentrated, I dont even know whats happening, I can't even focus on whats going on on the screen, and I don't even know what I'm doing. All I know is that I'm clicking my mouse and playing a level, almost like im not even controlling it
i would guess that it is flow state!
Yeah and then you beat it and you're like "How did I do that I didn't even think about the clicks it just happened..."
Holy shit ... first YT video that captured my full attention, precise narration and some next-level information. I forgot that this channel only had 132 subs, your content is amazing
the only useful things for GD in here is:
1. Eliminate distractions
2. make a plan of action/break the level into portions.
Really nice video 😊
i also noticed that if your on a dry rug and you just can't do good i find that getting up and just walking around for just a little bit help get back into a flow state
Almost a year later... I've never experienced flow state in geometry dash, I'm always trying to remember what the next transition is.
Really well researched video! Nice dude.
thanks
After listening to the description of flow state, I've realised I've been in it before and now I understand what it is now. Great video¡
I was actually in a heavy flow state last night. I started playing Cataclysm doing casual runs like 63-100, 51-100, 39-100 then I kept going back until I got 24-100 for the second time while playing cata. Unfortunately I had school in the morning but the focus I had in that little session was incredible.
Thanks for the advice! Im going to jump from the nightmare to cataclysm now
Royal Tek yeah... not sure if it’s quite that efficient lmao
Great video that applies to almost everything! I have been in flow state in all sorts of aspects of life, and now i really understand what it is. Amazing video :)
physical self consciousness is a problem for me in gd sometimes. Like i’ll just suddenly become uncomfortable and start itching everywhere
flow state doesn’t help my nervousness when i get far in a level though
yeah, it’s more for just being able to focus outside of attempts and stay motivated :(
This is an amazing video, in my video on Sharp Minor you can clearly see me going into this Flow State as in the beginning of the level I tell myself I can beat it and then I completely stopped thinking about anything except the level all the way to the ending part and beat it right then and there. It's crazy to think I achieved such a feat without even knowing what it is and relating to all the points in this video definitely made it a hundred times more interesting.
yeah! when i found out about flow i compared all my actions to when i beat big boom as my hardest, and the parallels in my behavior were crazy!
I love your music choices!
norkbork: make sure you don't have your phone nearby when you're playing geometry dash
me, a mobile player:
So a skill jump like poltergeist to Concaved Memories
maybe a little smaller, but it’s up to you; you know yourself best, so you know what length of a skill jump will be manageable for you and will keep you motivated
Norkbork: dont have any phones or discord
Mobile players: *why did you do this to us?*
im not a mobile player lmao i play on mobile but pc is my thing
i prefer calling people while playing gd since somehow it helps me concentrate lol :)
This video really helped me, and I don't even play GD.
Is there a strategy to not get tired easily while playing gd, I play like 10 min of a hard level and I get so tired
I didn't realize at the time but using flow was how I beat clubstep
Can overconfidence/overestimating yourself (high CPU usage in brain to consciously laser focus) mess that up too? I tried to make inputs consciously so they would be more absolute, but apparently, someone said it's overthinking for a perfectionist, and cause lag spike stutters. I got so used to it for a couple years now that I just blame luck or the level not matching my standards, even on a Medium or Hard Demon. Can autism factor that too? Or I just want to be different from everyone else or humans in general?
So I have been in flow state in subway surfers so I know how it feels
I cant beat Toe 2
I gave up today
But nice content🔥🔥
oh so that feeling i get sometimes actually has a name then?
Wow this isn’t just gd this will help with lacrosse for me and my team thanks a bunch!
your videos are amazing and really helpful, i hope you get the recognition you deserve soon :)
thanks, i think i already have lol, 1k subs is plenty enough for me
I don't know if you're still responding to questions, but after watching this video for the first time i kept thinking about flow while playing, and I just wanted to know, does thinking about flow while you're playing make it harder to actually get into flow state?
interesting question! what i found when i was researching is that no, it doesn’t actually hinder your ability to get into it. like i said in the video, it’s “hackable”, meaning you can mindfully take steps to get into it, and if you prepare properly it shouldn’t matter if you’re thinking about it or not :p
Thanks for telling me
thanks, this helped me beat future funk!
5:52
I noticed lag can screw that up to a degree.
8:54
I feel like I'm excessive and forceful to this one, especially to my brother. That's how much of a perfectionist I am.
9:38
Not lag-friendly levels can make me mad like 80% of the time because of same inputs different results.
It's not that I don't get disheartened, I also get aggressive at my brain or the game itself for not behaving a certain way. Sometimes blaming on others.
been struggling on Nine Circles for a couple months, part of the issue I've been having was a lack of ability to focus due to school and stuff and being stressed.
I'm pretty sure I can beat it considering I have 82% on it, its just hard, making it harder especially considering how much I hate the level.
gogogogogogo you can do it
@@norkbork I did it :D
Thank you for these tips, however I can't do such progress in levels I'm trying to beat, and I'm slowly realizing that the amount of attempts I have in some levels is really bad
as much as skill jumps can be motivating, you don’t want to bite off more than you can chew! take manageable steps but not ones so big that you are trying to do the impossible
@@norkbork Thanks for that tip! I ended up beating Acropolis after 12k attempts! I feel kinda bad it took me a while, but I'm happy it's done after all
ur using calamity music from dm dokuro for the calamity mod on terraria i love oyu
yesss calamity soundtrack
calamity music is perfect
that first song is from calamity mod lol
Thanks now I know that I'm in flow state playing Cata
I beat windy landscape after watching this video and have started excelling in geometry dash I’ve done some pretty hard wave challenges
"Make sure you don't have your Phone..."
.........I'm a mobile player, soooooooooooo what do I do ?
Edit: Shoot, I realized this was already done.
Flow state in 1 sentence: You become super saiyan.
Ultra instinct
my experience, getting in the zone 'flow state' with jawbreaker
my first hard demon and hardest demon, took 5.1k attempts
if i can give one tip ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR OWN MUSIC
itll distract you and put you in flow satate
literally i got like 80 on jawbreaker without knowing what was going on, i was completely spaced out
I'm DEFINITELY NOT in my flow state when I feel my little pinky on my mouse and start feeling some discomfort
Needing to explain this, of course everyone takes different steps to achieving their flow state. Of course this isn't always going to happen because outside influence will always be a factor when you play Geometry Dash. To demonstrate, the best way I can focus and achieve this is when I'm talking to friends and when I'm listening to my own music, or basically any song that isn't the song for the level I'm playing. To say that yes, when I do this, time does pass by so fast for me. I usually don't realize it until I'm around the 75th attempt. I recommend not pushing the flow state every day, and take small breaks in between playing the level. Anyway, this is how it works for me, just thought I'd share.
Is a jump from easy demons to ICDX okay or I should jump to Fairydust or Nine Circles
Or just simply just slowly and slowly go until I beat my first hard demon then insane then extreme
Also my first skill jump was maybe a easy RobTop level to Fingerdash
1k atts baby
personally i think the best jump spike in term of difficulty is insane to extreme demon and playing Artifice it's an excellent level to pratice it test you on length, speed clicking, precise timing and others thing.
I remember when I got 98 on bloodbath. Contrary to knobbelboy I was getting far every attempt after it, even getting 96 that night while mom was calling me lol. I was tired so I went to bed but I beat it the next day
How to get better? Click so fu**king hard until your hands broke *i allways do this clicking the mouse too hard and makes me give up on any demon really fast i think i understand how Riot got a surgery for his hands cuz of this games it actually hurts alot.
Anyone else who realized while watching the video that they were trying to do that way of playing the game all the time?
Also about the discord thing, I personally like practicing levels in call, because that makes it easier for me to beat them after the call.
this is a really useful guide, thank you so much man
glad it was of use to you!
How the hell do I stop my hand from sweating it is the number 1 thing that messes me up when I get far
i’d say just wipe your hand off after every few attempts and keep it not sweaty i guess
While playing nine circles I was literally wiping sweat off my hand at each attempt
I came back to Sonic Wave and beat it in two days. I used your advice and got into flow so often that it took me only two days to beat it! This video is truly a hidden gem!
Norkbork is it possible to make a video on how to not get nervous when getting far in a level it kills me at 90% alot. Thanks if u do.
I'm flow state like, Everytime I get mad in fortnite I just destroy everyone lel, so I should pass my *A N G E R* to gd
4:30
defenitely not me who cant beat 3/4ths of the easy demons and is wanting to jump to icdx/QFP
Why does it feel like when I'm focused and in flow state I get far and all but always mess up at the end and then I beat the level while I'm casually playing and not focusing very hard x)
you can literally replace geometry dash with marathon running and the video still holds up. Its almost a universal principle.
Im a player that doesnt like challenges or any really hard level. I have been stuck on easy demons and usually just give up on any harder thing i try. So none of these really helped me.
I'm disappointed that this only explains how to get better and faster, but not harder and stronger.
Amazing video dude! I'll keep this in mind. Can I link it in my guide on how to become better at the game? I want to help out the community as much as possible
Zephal of course :) and i’m glad you enjoyed it!
@@norkbork np man! I'd gladly enjoy collabing on a scripted video sometime if you're up to it!
Zephal mayb, hmu on discord (tag in vid desc)
I think i get the oppisite effect of time moving fast after complete a level i think that i toke me around 2k attmp but i find that its 900only
Great Video!
thank you!
I am also doing some research on flow state and muscle memory because i plan to make a mod that trains you to beat levels the most efficient way. I am currently testing this on myself by trying to beat tartarus and i got 33% and 52-100 today. Your video was very helpful with lots of valuable tips and information to implement. Thanks alot buddy.
gl bro
Another thing I tend to do is mute the game sound and music and listen to music such as the undertale and Deltarune osts
idk how to to enter flow state i always stay calm and concentrate but when i get out of concentrarion and i need to blink i suddenly die pls help
Make sure that ur phone or discord is anywhere in your present
Me who plays on phone with discord downloaded
But you said that flow is hackable if i try to get flow i will get banned
4:10 *r e q u i e m c u b e*
Everyone says that they'll do insane/exxtremes with this but I watched it because I got 91% on Verity (current hardest is Decode/Just Processing/Death Moon, can't decide) and I didn't progress at all in 3 weeks. (got to the ship/ufo dual 2 times in 3 weeks, both failed at the straight fly). Thank you for the tricks!
That's really good progress, cause I remember time I fell in love with this level, but can't even pass the first wave, it was so ridiculously hard for me. So, have you already beat it after 3 weeks?
This video is useless to me as I don’t play gd without calling someone
when i first got 50% on supersonic, i felt a lot of motivation and excitement within me, i when on to get 55% i couldnt get further because my mom took my pc :\.
I got 98,97,96, and 95 multiple times on that level that I couldn’t even count it but I beat the level
I was in the state of flow, but then you said itch, and i had a hives outbreak like wtf
an example of this is me flukeing 40% to 100% on fusion flare
so ultra instinct
This video feels like the hungrybox melee bubble for geometry dash..
Yooo is that the sunken seas from calamity mod?
reminder: game where you press a button in a certain timing
I don’t know why I do this or if anyone else does this. But when I get far in a level and try to focus I have an urge to close my eyes and it is a really bad urge and it kills me all the time from blinking to much.
hm, i can see why that’s tough to deal with. i cant say i ever experience that but i’d say just try focusing on the level and try not to think about it 😭
this channel is so underrated
Self-consciousness. I have too much of it help
this video helped me beat 3 demons in a day, heck yeah
This is how I beat Killbot the attempt after 92 and Requiem the attempt after 89.
Really helped a lot, I hope more people can find out about this :D
I have very interesting observation about flow state. Only now I realized why that happened. In short words: I beat both windy landscape and supersonic but with heart rate monitor. And in both cases I was so focused, that heart rate was just stuck on some number (WL - 103, Supersonic - 125), right after ~40% till end of the level. Similar thing I had with Acropolis, but seems like consciousness waked up on last wave, however I didn't died there. So, in all 3 cases heart rate from some point just stayed still on some number till the end of a level as well as I wasn't very nervous, I was just focused enough to be over it. So, windy landscape I fluked from 62% and on supersonic I have only one fail above 66% - 88%, next time I passed duals ended up in victory. I thought that my heart rate monitor wasn't working correctly, but now seems like everything fell into place.
Also that "space out" effect is so strange. I've realized that I beat supersonic only after ~5 minutes
Thanks for very good informational video
Gonna try to put this into motion while I beat deception dive. Speaking of skill jump I'm going from forsaken neon to dd, 19k attempts so far at 76%
I feel like a god now . I have no idea why this works but it does , it feels like I'm daydreaming when I enter flow state
glad it could help you :)
Good video, you need more subs
i like doing it even for a small audience haha
