    I would definitely recommend set up FOV tangent multiplier to horizontal 0.8 vertical 0.8 in oculus debug tool. You need to do it after every start of pc. Set those numbers, file in top corner and restart as administrator, than connect quest with pc (important to do it in this order) It will give you performance boost idk, about 10-20 percent. And it's barely noticeable in view trought the quest.

      Good Work, for the Tanget Muliplier you can use the Oculus Tray Tool, you can Patch the Debug Tool after Start with Windows Automaticly the Settings, for the Debug Tool and you can make Render Profils for the Games and Patch at Starting the Game.

    Love the videos! I'm running an Ryzen 9 5900x/32GB Ram/RTX 3090. I use the typical desktop connection from the Oculus link/Air link menu(not Virtual Desktop). I did notice that my headset looks better in the Open XR than the Oculus setting for iracing(just my opinion). Open VR had too much lag and wasn't fluid. I used the same settings as yours for graphics. Now when I moved to Air Link it had issues. Mass screen tearing and the controllers would take 5-10 seconds to register a movement just on the desktop. The issue was fixed as soon as I changed the Bit rate from 500 to zero in the Oculus debug tool. Everything was back to normal after the change. I play at 5408x2736 @ 120Hz and mine shows a 1.9x. Air link works pretty good as long as your Wifi is fast and has a strong signal. I also do not use a dedicated router for my Oculus. With the Oculus running I seen 92% headroom. With Open VR I was seeing 94-97%. Latency was about the same though using Air link on the Oculus choice caused some micro-stutters as the Open XR never had issues. I plan on using a link cable when racing(the new cable with a power adapter connected inline on Amazon looks really good!). Not sure what caused the micro-stutters as I have minimal programs running the background.
    One question though. Do you use the standard Oculus desktop or Virtual desktop? And if Virtual desktop is it really that much better? Keep the videos and racing coming!

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  Год назад +1

      So I don't use Air Link or Virtual Desktop. I use a Link Cable. Yes, if you use Air Link your bitrate must be set to 0 in the debug tool for it to work properly. The bitrate when using Air Link gets set in Airlink. I think the max bitrate in Airlink is 200 and while it looks good, it doesn't run well for me. Air Link gives more a lot more compression since for it to run smooth I have it set to a range up to 100mbs. So you can see when drops lower as the compression gets worse.
      I did try Virtual Desktop with iRacing but I had to go through the iRacing Steam app to use it and was just really laggy and wobbly. Acted the same as when I tried using OpenVR with the link cable through the iRacing app so not sure how people are using Virtual Desktop with iRacing and having good results.

    The Oculus API is deprecated and no longer being updated by Meta. OpenXR is the standard for them going forward. It also gives you access to the OpenXR Toolkit which can give a performance increase. I don't think the CPU is actually being used that much, OpenXR reserves as much available CPU as it can for immediate use as needed so I think iRacing believes it's blowing up your CPU.

    I've only ever tried the oculus quest 2 (borrowed from a friend) so far, and I have to say it just looks like you're looking thru a screen door. I do want to race in VR as I have discovered the overall experience for me is more immersive/better, so I'll see if these changes work for me, but I've just heard bad reviews about this headset as far as sim racing goes and hear that others are significantly better. Of course I'm sure cost is an issue for some, and is for me too, but I'd rather save up for a good headset than spend money on the oculus if I can't get the graphics to work any better. Has anyone experienced any better headsets they would recommend over the oculus?

    I have a Quest 2 and my PC still has the stock GTX 1060 6gb graphics card. I followed this video and did settings more aligned with my graphics card, and the Quest 2 no longer stutters and freezes. It’s still not optimal as the iRacing FPS graphic shows an average of 35 with a peak of around 55 (with other cars on track). Once on the pace lap it dipped down to 12 and froze for a slight moment, but it came back.
    Graphics are still kinda blurry and super pixelated down the track, I’m just happy the freezing is mostly gone

      Once you put the headset on and have your cable plugged in, through the headset, choose to connect you your computer. Then, when it is connected, you will see the menu bar come up. Choose the one that says desktop. Then, everything you do will be in VR through the headset.
      As for the power issue, it's being said that the Q3 is power-hungry, but supposedly, the next update will have an option to choose more power or better battery. I think for PCVR, choosing better battery and having the headset lower its GPU/CPU power, it should not affect PCVR quality. Let's hope and see.

      @@thecasualracinggamer yes, I mean in the mirror it doesn't seem to be that bad but if I record iRacing itself the video then look awful like massively pixelated, and if I record the oculus mirror it looks better but as if the image lacks a bit of definition...
      But inside the headset it looks nice!

    Look at that motion to proton latency. For a simulation you should be looking for less latency, decrease graphics and increase that refresh rate to 90 hz, latency will go down a lot.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  Год назад

      The latency is effected by me using OBS to record the video while playing at the same time.

    This is probably a dumb question but I am new… How did you get the new UI to show up in your goggles… I’m not talking about the VR experience I’ve got that… I’m talking about DUI before I join a race… In your video, it appeared you could see it from within the goggles that would make it easy so I wouldn’t have to take them on and off.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  Год назад

      That's strange as the headset doesn't do 60fps native unless it is using Oculus reprojection and you have your headset set to 120Hz so it's doing 60 with black frames in between. If that is the case, change your headset to 72Hz or even 80Hz. It will struggle at 120Hz native at these settings.

    The multiplier has zero difference on different systems. It is simply your headsets resolution multiplied by Xx so a 1.2x multiplier is your headset resolution multiplied by 1.2. Your Refresh rate has nothing to do with resolution.
