When I got my 4080 at the beginning of the year, I ramped up the refresh rate to 90 Hz, just _because I could_. Now I got my Quest 3, I had to reduce the PD in ACC from 160 to 140 so the GPU would have enough headroom again. Your video made me think whether I really need 90 Hz. Turns out: No, 72 Hz is absolutely fine in both ACC and DR2. Instead I could boost the quality again - nice. Thanks mate!
You should also set the fov tangent to 0.8,0.8 for a frame boost, turn off ASW to make sure you aren't actually dropping to half the frames. It's also worth upping the encode resolution to 4128. Also in iracing you need to set the dynamic lod to match your fps target otherwise it won't kick in to maintain your frame rate. With the default 60 it'll never kick in until you drop a lot. @@thecasualracinggamer 0.8 is out of the viewing range for most people. And 0.3 in the helmet view only cuts out the black bars at the top and bottom anyway. Why let the GPU calculate black bars... Thanks for the awesome guide! My new Q3 is currently "out for delivery", so I'm trying to learn as much as I can while I not-so-patiently wait for it to arrive. Cheers!
Thanks bro, I also am running a 3080 and just unboxed a Quest 3 today! I have been running an HP Reverb G2 but it bit the dust finally. I noticed the track and stuff looks amazing but my dash of the Spec Racer Ford was a bit blurry on the 123 /456 lights on the side of the dash.. Going to try this out and hope for the best. Cheers!
Thanks for the post - I'm using Quest 3 with AMS2 and its amazing - As for your VR, would recommend BOBOVR Halo Strap and its super comfortable and you can sim race for hours with no pressure on your face
Yeah something I noticed with the PSVR2 and gran turismo was improved fov , my quest 2 and g2 felt like looking through diving masks when driving , no peripheral vision. The PSVR2 and quest 3 are 110 degrees and quest 2 is 89deg.
I bumped my resolution up to 5k, and the encode bit rate to 700, and my framerate dropped to 35 on an RTX 3060. Dropped it to 4k and 400, and it came back to 72fps and was pretty smooth.
I usually use Oculus for iRacing but just played around with OpenXR and noticed a difference in what is shown on screen. I'm about to post something about it on my community page.
What I've been missing while using Q2 or Reverb G2 was the ability to look aside, for example into the mirrors, and have a clear view. I always had to move my while head instead of just eyes, because outside of the sweet spot everything was blurry. I hope those new lenses fix that.
@@thecasualracinggamer just like real life if you look out of the corner of your eyes its not quite as sharp you will be happy . people are actually going back on reviews after they started using glasses and had said it was not much different from g2 q2 etc
I have a G2R2 and to me the Q3 has the better picture quality. It‘s sharp everywhere you look and that makes the feeling of really being there much more immersive.
@@nipdrops I had my eyes lasered a few years ago ;-) The darks are a bit darker on the R2G2, but I think that‘s something I can get used to or if you can change gama/contrast, you can change this. I‘ve just set the same settings as described here and omg Alyx looks breathtaking… smooth and sharp… For me the G2 was always my reference in quality, but the extremely narrow sweetspot was always bothering me.. not able to look around without to turn my head… and always fiddling with the headset and rubbing my eyes because of this blurry feeling after a while… that‘s completely gone now.. I‘m really impressed by the Q3.
How long are you getting battery life wise with the Quest plugged in? I struggle to even get 2 hours at the moment. I am looking at a power injected USB link cable.
I have a Quest 2 since launch and have been using VR for 6 years now and I never heard that you can go over 500 mbs in bitrate by only copy-pasting the value! Does this work with the Quest 2? Have you ever tried the Reverb G2? This is what I have now. Is the Quest 3 worth te upgrade from the G2?
Same specs rather better ryzen 7800 3d, 4080 super oc , and i cant get the oculus go past 150 bit rate , the heck am i doing Wrong, i use airlink but the router is right next to the headset and its hard wired to my computer tested things out getting 250 mbps and 250 mbps upload download speed too
You mentioned also having the PSVR2 - I also am using a PSVR2 for Gran Turismo , but am considering selling that setup for a Quest 3 and iRacing. Any opinions? Thanks.
If you are planning on getting a good PC, iRacing on the Quest 3 is great. There is really nothing bad I can say about it. iRacing is an amazing sim, and the Quest 3 at its price really can't be beat.
Loving the Quest 3 so far. Spent all yesterday trying to get Assetto Corsa working right.. Nightmare. I really hate PCVR troubleshooting, it's just no fun. Hoping to get iRacing working right today with far less trouble... I miss dirt ovals, haven't driven those for years. Used to love it so much.
Yeh pc vr should be much easier.even when i get things running great a windows or some other update messes things up again, thats why i use quest 3 in standalone more
@@robertmcmahon4549 I have it the same way. Assetto Corsa worked yesterday, but today it was right back to being an absolute mess… got iracing working, then my pc just straight up shut down.. my patience was gone at that point. Maybe I’ll give pcvr a whirl again in a few months… I bought the most standard components imaginable just to get high compatibility with everything, still a frequent nightmare.
Just gonna say, day 3 of PCVR has been far more functional. My shoulders are sore from the dirt ovals, they are super fun. Totally forgotten how good the force feedback is in iRacing... It's so intuitive to slide around on those ovals with how good the wheel feels. The grooves in the dirt are so noticable. GT7's force feedback is servicable, but man.. Getting this level of force feedback in GT7 would be amazing.
Hey stumbled on your video and I am considering buying the Quest 3 but you said you need a powerful PC My system specs are: i9-11900K / 64GB RAM running at 2933MHz / RTX 3070ti - will this be sufficient to have a good experience?
I was using a great, extra long cable for years that I picked up from Amazon, but it's no longer sold as I just found out after my dog decided to eat my cable. 😄 I do have another cable that works that is shorter and heavier but will be looking for another long, light weight cable. Basically, the cable will either register correctly and work, or it won't. I don't believe some cables will work better than others and deliver any different quality if they register with the Oculus software as the correct required cable.
Ohhh lets me tell you the ping ping game feel so Real. I swear i almost try to jump on the table to get a smash. This quest 3 is next level stuff. On Ams2 or DR 2.0 its also unbelievable.
I was running it at 280 bitrate with link sharpening on standard. But also remember, the Quest 2 can run these same settings so it really comes down to what the Quest 3 lenses offer over the Quest 2. Also, a little larger FOV as well.
quick question: no motion sickness at 72fps? I'd love to get one of these, but I fear I'll feel sick like hell due to the "low" FPS there. Great video man!
Done and done. Its much better but still not perfect. When i run usb connection test it says my bandwith is 2,8g. Cable is plugged to usb 3.2 gen 2 port and its capable of 5g. I set bandwith to 800 in debugtool. Might be just bad cable?
Hey man I purchased this outright today largely because of everything you said in the video. But I do have a question, I’m afraid my laptop might not be powerful enough to smoothly run iracing. I have a Ryzen 7 5800h CPU & RTX 3060 GPU and 48 GB Ram. If there’s a bottleneck would it be my CPU or GPU??
I should clarify that I already use my laptop for everything and it works great for every game. But I’m wondering specifically about once I hook a Meta Quest 3 to it if Im still gonna get that same performance?
So not sure about Ryzen CPUs as I have always used Intel, but iRacing is pretty heavy on CPU, too. A 3060 laptop GPU is also going to be less powerful than if it was a desktop version of it. You probably won't be able to really take full advantage of what the headset can offer but you might be able to still enjoy it. You will need to play with the settings in order to see what your system can handle. I would definitely run it at 72Hz and then play with the resolution. Turn everything in iRacing down that has no effect on the race stuff itself. Then you can see if maybe you can boost the bitrate. The thing with the Quest 3 is, if you can not run it at a certain level, you will suffer from compression and also flickering if the resolution is too low.
@@thecasualracinggamer Thank you for the reply! I plan on building my own PC next year at some point so it’ll be a moot point then, just need my laptop to be able to hold up for 6-8 more months until I can give a it a break. I already run iracing with non-essential things all turned off anyway so that’s not really a problem for me. I just need the cars and road to look nice and everything else I don’t really care about. The FPS is honestly the biggest thing for me. Currently run iracing extremely smoothly at 100 FPS, should I be expecting a considerable/any drop in FPS with VR? I’m sorry if that’s a dumb question as I’m brand new to the VR scene lol
@brandongass80 FPS on flat screen is going to be way different than in VR as VR is way more demanding and needs to render the picture 2x. You set the fps in the Oculus app. If you run at 72Hz, it will give you the best chance to run smooth. Dropping just a couple frames in VR has a huge impact and feels way different than if you drop some frames on a flat screen. You want to get all your settings to the point where you can just run smooth without any dropped frames, which might come at the sacrifice of clarity and sharpness.
So should you prioritize using an anti aliasing mode like fxaa or smaa and lower msaa to compensate? Or should you prioritize keeping msaa samples as high as possible even if that means disabling the anti aliasing mode. Msaa 8x anti aliasing off vs msaa 4x anti aliasing fxaa for example
Do you select oculus or openxr when launching iracing session? I’ve noticed that if i select oculus, my fps drops in half. Its fine if i launch openxr.
Hello. I would like to ask for your advice. Would you recommend Pico4 or Quest3 for use with PCVR? We only use iRacing with a wired connection. MR functionality is not required. What we are looking for is good image quality and a large sweet spot.
Hi. Thanks for this. Ive recently bought a PC and a Quest 3 and will try your settings soon. At the moment I'm getting 90hz in the headset but suffering with occasional stutters in iRacing. Do you have any advice on how to eliminate them? Thanks
Hi again. Im on a Ryzen 7, 32gb ddr4 and a 4070. Ive tried changing the resolution/frame rate but still getting stutters. I'm now struggling to get the same clear crisp image I had earlier and getting 45fps. Do you know what the default settings are for the debug menu please? @@thecasualracinggamer
The bitrate default is 0, and the dynamic bitrate should be on default or auto. I'm not sure off the top of my head what it is. If you are seeing 45fps, it sounds like Asynchronous Warp is kicking in because it can not produce the frames you have set which is probably 90fps? ASW cuts the frames in half. I'm not sure about a Ryzen cpu. I have always used Intel. Are you hooked up to a USB 3.0 connection?
Yes I'm on USB 3. It was running perfect and looked amazing at 90hz other than the occasional sound drop. Not sure what Ive done. My debug settings are spacewarp off, dynamic bitrate default, encode bitrate 800. Im set at max resolution on the headset and 90hz. I@@thecasualracinggamer
The default encodd bitrate is zero. 800 is pushing it high. You can knock that diem of you are having issues. Try 700 or 500 even. Or set to zero and change Encode Dynamic Bitrate to default and you'll be back to stock settings, unless you touched other stuff.
Bitrate at 736 it's more than enought, it´s better to increase the Encode Resolution: 3808 , Sliced Encode: OFF, Encode codec: H264 , Sharpness: Disable. And if you use SteamVR, put at least 3312 on vertical res upsampling.
i have gtx 1080, would you recommand it? And i dont understand what you said if my pc is not powerful enough that i sohuld maybe use stand alone headset, what that means?
A 1080 would probably not be optimal to push the Quest 3 where it looks good at a high res and low compression. A dedicated PCVR headset is one that uses a display port connection and does not require as much power as a Quest headset needs.
Ok I’m new to pc and vr so I tried this and maybe my oven isn’t up to par or I did something wrong but I’ll tell you my specs and the problem I run into, I have a 13th gen i5-13400 2.50GHz with a Nvidia RTX 4060 and I have the quest 3 and I use the type C cable to connect them to my pc. I did everything in this video and when I go into iracing all my VR does is flicker around if I move my head at all, so I went from 700 to 400 in the debug settings still flickers went all the way down to 0 by 10’s hoping to find a sweet spot to no avail, I set it at 0 all the flickering goes away. The picture quality isn’t the best but isn’t the worst either I guess. So is it not enough pc or did I do something wrong. Like I said I’m new to both so I really don’t know what to expect but I figured it would be better than it is
Great video man! I really want to go VR but I see people struggling with a rtx 30 series. Should I even think about buying it considering I have a rtx 2080?
Would this sort of quality be out of the question for me with a Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon 7800XT 16GB and 32GB DDR5 6000mhz RAM? I believe AMD have typically been not as good with VR due to driver issues, not sure if this is still the case.
I use a third party, USB-A cable I bought years ago. Not sure if a USB-C cable will be better for keeping the headset charged when using it as opposed to slowly discharging while plugged in.
I only use a cable for sim racing. Unless you have a dedicated router just for your headset and test its stability for long sessions, you can possible run into problems. I personally like to be linked in.
i think biggest problem is this creates overhead encoding etc on the hardware why display-port would be superior for this but if they made it at least av1 this would help as well. Not sure how people use psvr2 on myn mura is so horrible that i cant use it. Edit: Looks like messing with it broke software on my quest 3 and it just gets stuck on loading screen to enter link mode no matter what i do ah well was going to return it anyway waiting on my bigscreen beyond.
Try restarting Oculus services from the degug tool, reboot your computer and the headset too. At one point before I even messed with any settings it had trouble connecting, but since that one time, no issues connecting since then.
i got one of the recommended kiwi cables and its rated at 2.2 gigs in the oculus test but anything over 220 mbs encoded starts to have issues 300 breaks up into mirror vision lag fest.490 godlike motherboard supposed to have top of the line thunderbolt and usb 3.2 i think it was ports. i also see occasional graphic issues running wired link cables vs airlink. 4090 10900k not sure why im seeing so much lower then everyone else
I tried to swap to the quest 2 again and the headroom performance going up alot. so the the quest 3 is much heavier to run on the gpu. i think if you are going to for more fps you will need a more powerfull gpu than 3080. but it works great.
Very interesting. Wonder how much performance boost you would get by dropping the resolution down a little but also how big a hit the picture quality would take by doing that.
What are your thoughts on revisiting ACC using the Quest 3 VR? Is it worth upgrading from Quest 2 or is ACC VR just a lost cause? Btw really enjoying your videos and hope to see more GT7 PSVR vids now that the servers are supposedly fixed
I tried for ages to get something playable in ACC on the quest 2 with my 3080 and ryzen 5600x and never managed to. When I got my quest 3 I revisited it and managed to get some thing that you can play but no comparison to iracing. Iracing looks amazing on the quest 3, ACC is just barely ok.
I'm an avid ACC player and just upgraded from a Quest 2 to a Quest 3. CPU: 5800X3D, GPU: 4080 FE. I use the Link settings mentioned in this video, also I set the FOV Tangent Multiplier to 0.85/0.70. PD in ACC is set to 160% and DLSS activated. Things run and look amazing, while the GPU is at about 80% load. Oh, and generally the upgrade to the Quest 3 is a treat. The edge to edge clarity of the pancake lenses makes quite a difference.
I’ve been messing with ACC and the Q3 with a 4070ti. It is decent, but still not at a level which I would use, other than messing about on. The blurring in the distance is still noticeable unfortunately, which is a shame because I actually got ACC to look better than iracing. I feel even with a 4090 I wouldn’t be happy with ACC, since the game just doesn’t look good past a car length or 2
Great video. Haven't had a VR headset before. Can my i5 12400 + 7800xt PC run the quest 3 on iracing and AMS2? My motherboard doesnt have type c ports, but I do have usb 3.2 gen 2 (10Gbps) ports. Will I be able to run the Quest 3 with a USB A - C 10Gbps cable instead of the fiberoptic quest link cable? Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately, I have never tried a G2, so maybe others can advise. The G2 can deliver on a lesser powerful PC though, so your equipment should be taken into consideration, too. The G2 is known to have a small sweet spot, though, while the Q3 has pancake lenses for almost edge to edge clarity. Also, the Quest 3 offers great stand-alone VR and mixed reality. So it comes down to what your looking for from your headset.
@@thecasualracinggamer thank you for the answer anyway. I'm leaning more towards quest 3 because I also want good tracking for other games and G2 can struggle with that. I'm also planning to upgrade my PC. Do you think there is any big difference if I go with the newest GPU with av1 or are older gen okay as well? Planning for 7800xt or 6900xt.
2024 and the scene in the back still looks like a nintendo 64, i bought the quest 3 got the 4080 and payed 550 euro and 100 euro for the kable, and still nog happy with it.
I guess it depends on the car and how the game handles them. In the Porsche, if I move my head a little closer to the dash, the yellow text gets very clear but another car, like the open wheel I have all text is sharp.
I was using a long extended cable I bought years ago off Amazon, but my dog decided to recently eat it. Doesn't look like that one is sold anymore. I do have a shorter cable that was also from years ago but I'll probably order something similar to the extended length one and just try my luck with one of them.

I would think it would, but only taking a guess. I always say order from somewhere with a good return policy in case it doesn't give you what you want.

Just got this yesterday and I am struggling with a compatible link cable, now I order the original one. What settings do you guys suggest for rtx 4090 w amd 7950x?
@@thecasualracinggamer So I found a cable that does 2.4gbps and now it works well. I have to say that with my normal settings I was on 200fps on a monitor and I don't get a stable 90fps in VR. I had to tune down a few things. Your bitrate trick is really amazing, thanks for that. I wonder what else could be done to improve even more :)
@AndreaTrocino Monitor fps and VR fps are going to be way different as VR is way more demanding and pushing the picture 2x. If you cannot run a stable 90Hz, definitely drop down to 80Hz and try it out. Any dropped frames in VR is so noticeable and distracting. For me, in VR, I want the best-looking experience that will run smooth at whatever frame rate that is.
Yes followed everything and other Web page too. Is it suppose to look like on a screen? Cause all my other game look really good. Just the racing game look all like crap. Blurry. Projectcar 2 and 3. Acc too
ACC is just not good in VR but iRacing should look really clear and sharp. Are you going through Steam or iRacing app? Are you sure you raised the resolution in the Oculus app to max? What bitrate are you set at and did you turn off the dynamic bitrate setting?
Personally not enjoying the Q3 with iracing, although a much better sweet spot, the picture is worse than my Pico 3 and the headset is equally as uncomfortable to wear. Can’t get rid of the weird shimmer/wavy lines on trees and railing etc no matter what settings in game or in Nvidia control panel I use. That’s with a 4070ti as well!
Usually, the shimmering is from to low a resolution. Do you have it turned all the way up in the Oculus app? Do you have your bitrate turned up? I wouldn't mess with the Nvidia control panel. Are you running through Steam or through the app?
@@thecasualracinggamer I set the bitrate to 900 in debug tool and was running it at 80hz setting from the oculus PC app. Ran it via oculus mode from the iracing UI then. Do you not have any shimmering/wavy effects on trees or railings in particular? I’m convinced it’s not the headset but don’t want to spend another 2 days investigating whether it is or not 🤔
Did you turn off dynamic bitrate in the debug tool? Also the Hz won't matter. You need to move the slider to the highest resolution for whichever frame setting you choose. Make sure you uncheck use recommended settings in the Oculs app where you choose the Hz. Also make sure you are changing the bitrate in the debug tool in the correct column. There are a few things that say bitrate.
If you didn't bump up the resolution slider, that will definitely be your issue with the shimmering. It would be running at a lower resolution and causing that issue.
After seeing a few videos about settings for pcvr on q3, I am torn between link cable at 72hz or virtual desktop at 120hz with asw (is that the acronym for frame warping?), with vd at 120hz the pc only needs to produce 60fps so actually easier for the gpu. I have a 7900xtx so can use av1 but not sure about compression vs link cable with bit rate hack. Exciting times for vr again.
I have to disable ASW in Oculus Debug Tool on racing sims otherwise I notice drops and motion blur. MSFS 2020 I force 45 ASW enabled. Tempted to try VD to see the difference.
@@JamieP_77 yeah I think you should, it was noted that with asw you need a high framerate to make it work (much like nvidia frame creation), so at 60fps it should be less noticeable. You select 120fps and asw in virtual desktop, just not sure if a 3000 series gpu can do this as av1 isn't available
I am not sure how well ASW looks in addition to what others wrote. I believe you can activate ASW for link as well but not sure how good it actually looks though. GT7 uses it on PS5 with PSVR2 and you get double images when moving your head around.
@@thecasualracinggamer if you play at 90fps then with asw you'll effectively get 45fps, I just hoped with 120fps (effectively getting 60fps) it might be better. My sim rig is in storage for a move so annoyingly I can't test yet.

Are you saying VD looks and runs better than using a link cable with pumped up settings? Are you using a dedicated router for VR? I believe to get iRacing to work via VD, you need to run it through Steam, right? I don't play iRacing through Steam.
@thecasualracinggamer I've not played I racing so I don't no, half life altx looks unreal with everything on max 90fps every box ticked, f123 did play better with link cable, so maybe it's down to each game and how it's been optimized, I did use f123 with your settings and all the in game vr on ultra and it played well, not as clear as alyx game that's the best one so far, some pc oculus games look stunning as well
Setting your Quest settings should already help with compression and clarity. You would need to then play with your AC settings based on your system. I haven't gotten into AC settings as it's not a game I play as often as others.

I have a 13900k and a 4090. Night time / rain races in AC are still a little too much for this hardware. I have to turn down some settings to not drop frames. I'm both CPU and GPU limited at different sections when the frames drop (looking at the openxr toolkit FPS display in-game). My problems with the quest 2: Panel gaps (trunk edges to the body) look really weird at night, its like a white reflection Some fences look strange (chain link looks really bad sometimes) Are those two issues better on the quest 3? I have tried changing so many settings, I just cannot get the night time reflections on the rear ends of cars to look better. Wondering if the new lenses / higher res would make this better?
I have not gotten to deep into AMS2 and the Quest 3 for testing out all the different scenrios. I know rain, night time and reflections are always power hogs and can look bad at times. I feel the same about shadows.

If you play AMS2.....you can switch to Helmet View and cut the Fov to 0.8 and 0.3. 50% Performance Boost! This is the real Gamechanger 😅
LOL. But then you lose the all extra FOV the Quest 3 brings over the Quest 2.
@@thecasualracinggamer
0.8 is out of the viewing range for most people. And 0.3 in the helmet view only cuts out the black bars at the top and bottom anyway. Why let the GPU calculate black bars... But you can now set the SuperSampling to 2! You can try this out live in the Oculus Link home screen without reconnecting. Set the first line (debug tool) from 0 to 2 and pay attention to the grid. Game changer...
Googl3 F1 helm to see the 0.3 in real life
@zerolight9420 could you run by me the settings I need to put in for the tool debug on the quest 2? My frames and pictures is terrible, yet I’m running a 3060 I don’t think that should be a bottle neck yk 😅 anyways help would be cool
I got my quest 3 and use your guide for ACC. Wow man! Best racing sim experience! Thanks for the guide.
I find the link sharpening set to Normal provides a sharper overall image. The Quality setting makes everything look softer.
Thanks for the awesome guide! My new Q3 is currently "out for delivery", so I'm trying to learn as much as I can while I not-so-patiently wait for it to arrive. Cheers!
Hope you enjoy it.
for anyone else whos' computer dumb you have to click on the encode bitrate (mbps) box after you copy and then press control v (windows 11)
Bro you aren’t alone. I was getting so mad and frustrated. Thank you for posting this!!! Cheers 🍻
Thanks!
I just came across your channel as I am waiting for my wheel to be delivered and I love it! Your videos are great, keep it up!
Thanks a lot. What wheel you getting?
Yeah something I noticed with the PSVR2 and gran turismo was improved fov , my quest 2 and g2 felt like looking through diving masks when driving , no peripheral vision.
The PSVR2 and quest 3 are 110 degrees and quest 2 is 89deg.
1:54 If right click does not work use ctrl-C to copy and CTRL-V to paste. Edit: time code...
Thanks. Should have mentioned that.
I bumped my resolution up to 5k, and the encode bit rate to 700, and my framerate dropped to 35 on an RTX 3060. Dropped it to 4k and 400, and it came back to 72fps and was pretty smooth.
its probably ASW or how its called, the shortcut the disable it is CRTL+ NUM1. it gives you the FPS back but i dont know for what cost
I currently use a HP reverb G2 V2 for iracing using OpenXR. With the Quest 3 are you using OpenVR?> SteamVR or something else?
Thanks.
Moving just your eyes, things are still clear in the Q3.
@@Naranek That's the opinion I've been looking for. Thanks. I think I have to make an order 😄. Do you use correction glasses?

The darks are a bit darker on the R2G2, but I think that‘s something I can get used to or if you can change gama/contrast, you can change this.
I‘ve just set the same settings as described here and omg Alyx looks breathtaking… smooth and sharp…
For me the G2 was always my reference in quality, but the extremely narrow sweetspot was always bothering me.. not able to look around without to turn my head… and always fiddling with the headset and rubbing my eyes because of this blurry feeling after a while… that‘s completely gone now.. I‘m really impressed by the Q3.
How long are you getting battery life wise with the Quest plugged in? I struggle to even get 2 hours at the moment. I am looking at a power injected USB link cable.
I have Quest Pro with 4090 and its a beast. One of the best pancake lenses ever.
I have never tried the G2 but only heard while the res is good, the sweetspot is small. You can use these settings for the Quest 2.
Same specs rather better ryzen 7800 3d, 4080 super oc , and i cant get the oculus go past 150 bit rate , the heck am i doing Wrong, i use airlink but the router is right next to the headset and its hard wired to my computer tested things out getting 250 mbps and 250 mbps upload download speed too
You can't change the bitrate in the debug tool if you are using Airlink. You need to do it in the Oculus Airlink settings menu.
Many thanks for your response. I will give it a try and report back! Happy racing!
I usually don't have any issues getting PCVR stuff working. It's more of just getting the best settings working.
Maybe I’ll give pcvr a whirl again in a few months…
I bought the most standard components imaginable just to get high compatibility with everything, still a frequent nightmare.
Hey stumbled on your video and I am considering buying the Quest 3 but you said you need a powerful PC
My system specs are:
i9-11900K / 64GB RAM running at 2933MHz / RTX 3070ti - will this be sufficient to have a good experience?
I think you can have a good experience with that setup.
@@thecasualracinggamer Thanks
Which cable do you suggest to connect Quest 3 to pc for PCVR?
Because we know quest 3 needs a good quality cable with lowest power drops.
My concern is adding latency. The video compression combined with 72Mhz will do that. I have a Quest 3 and a G2.
I'm not a good enough driver to worry about minor bumps in latency unless it's something substantial and noticeable without looking at a graph.
what is your opinion from quest 3 to Reverb g2? @woopass90
@@gaming-fuel6250 the pancake lenses are amazing
I have mine all the way up to 900 and in IRacing I don’t notice any latency with the link cable.
you should disable Mobile ASW
and change your encoding resolution width to 4128 for 1:1
👍
Since V23 oculus app upgrade it's not necessary anymore to modify manually "distortion curvature"' and "encode resolution width".
Hey ! Thanks for thé vidéo bro.

Happy New Year!
Are you using the official link cable from Oculus or would any other third party work?
3rd party cable I bought years ago off Amazon.
Ohhh lets me tell you the ping ping game feel so Real. I swear i almost try to jump on the table to get a smash. This quest 3 is next level stuff. On Ams2 or DR 2.0 its also unbelievable.
Man Grid Legends looks like Wow! next to the crap picture in Quest 2. I was Shocked! Quest 3 is worth the buy.
so in the previous video you were running default? and this way its much better?
I was running it at 280 bitrate with link sharpening on standard. But also remember, the Quest 2 can run these same settings so it really comes down to what the Quest 3 lenses offer over the Quest 2. Also, a little larger FOV as well.
quick question: no motion sickness at 72fps? I'd love to get one of these, but I fear I'll feel sick like hell due to the "low" FPS there. Great video man!
I have no issues with motion sickness in VR. Also, 72fps is the starting point where VR is acceptable. People can get motion sickness at 120fps.
Thank you, which cable do you use?
It was 3rd party cable I bought years ago off Amazon.
Done and done. Its much better but still not perfect. When i run usb connection test it says my bandwith is 2,8g. Cable is plugged to usb 3.2 gen 2 port and its capable of 5g. I set bandwith to 800 in debugtool. Might be just bad cable?
It's an Oculus thing. It can not use the whole bandwidth available, I believe, and maxes out there.
I don't really know the answer to this, but I did feature this comment in my newest video to demonstrate the struggles of PCVR sim racing.
@@thecasualracinggamer cool! Just watched it. Ended up just using 4x msaa since I have more headroom to up the resolution that way.
That‘s a great one… thank you for sharing…
Would you go with the same settings for a Pro?
Thanks and yes, the Pro can use the same settings.
Do you select oculus or openxr when launching iracing session? I’ve noticed that if i select oculus, my fps drops in half. Its fine if i launch openxr.
I use Oculus, but you can use whatever works better for you.
Do I need to use a cable for this to work?
Yes, these settings are for when using a cable.
Hello.
I would like to ask for your advice.
Would you recommend Pico4 or Quest3 for use with PCVR?
We only use iRacing with a wired connection.
MR functionality is not required.
What we are looking for is good image quality and a large sweet spot.
I have never tried a Pico headset, so I can't really give a proper answer on that. Sorry.
Thanks for the reply.
I look forward to your future videos.
How did you both those sliders at the bottom? They vanished off mine
Hi. Thanks for this. Ive recently bought a PC and a Quest 3 and will try your settings soon. At the moment I'm getting 90hz in the headset but suffering with occasional stutters in iRacing. Do you have any advice on how to eliminate them? Thanks
What's your PC setup? Have you tried lowering to 72 or 80hz to see if that smoothes things out?
Unless something changed from the Q2 to Q3 with line sharpening, turning it off made the picture very blurry.
i have gtx 1080, would you recommand it?
I would say buy it from somewhere you can return it in case it's not up to the quality you want with a 2080. It's a great headset!
yeah, I guess I'll order it from Amazon
Let me know how it ends up if you order it.
Would this sort of quality be out of the question for me with a Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon 7800XT 16GB and 32GB DDR5 6000mhz RAM?
I believe AMD have typically been not as good with VR due to driver issues, not sure if this is still the case.
Sorry, I don't have any experience with VR and AMD. I have always used Intel and nVidia with VR.
Would I be able to run it with a 3060ti and 5800X and 32gb ram?
Can I ask, why do you have FXAA turned on? I saw some videos that it’s only for lower end PC’s? (I’m not computer literate)

Which cable should I buy for the Quest 3? I will only use the headset for iRacing.
I use a third party, USB-A cable I bought years ago. Not sure if a USB-C cable will be better for keeping the headset charged when using it as opposed to slowly discharging while plugged in.
Great video 👍 are you using link cable or air link. Be great to know what works best for sims.
I only use a cable for sim racing. Unless you have a dedicated router just for your headset and test its stability for long sessions, you can possible run into problems. I personally like to be linked in.
Works nicely in AM2 too. :)
Thanks for tips. But i still have a lot more flickering via Link compared to Virtual Desktop
Yup, go with what works best for your setup.
i think biggest problem is this creates overhead encoding etc on the hardware why display-port would be superior for this but if they made it at least av1 this would help as well.

What is you perfomance headroom ? i struggle a bit with very low on that. the picture seems fine, I have about the same setup as you rtx 3080 card .
I honestly don't look at that. I'll drive around and see how everything feels. If frames feel like they are dropping, I'll just start lowering stuff.
ok it feels great just the perfomance headroom that is really low:) lik me 5%
I tried to swap to the quest 2 again and the headroom performance going up alot. so the the quest 3 is much heavier to run on the gpu. i think if you are going to for more fps you will need a more powerfull gpu than 3080. but it works great.
Very interesting. Wonder how much performance boost you would get by dropping the resolution down a little but also how big a hit the picture quality would take by doing that.
how much performance boost do you get, i did go down on the oculus res but i did not notice any major difference in the game.
do you ever get these huge FPS drops? When i get these FPS drops i have to alt tab to another window and back and that seems to get the FPS back
I haven't. Sometimes, when I exit out, it will go weird and I need to just take the headset off and put it back on but no issues in game.
What are your thoughts on revisiting ACC using the Quest 3 VR? Is it worth upgrading from Quest 2 or is ACC VR just a lost cause? Btw really enjoying your videos and hope to see more GT7 PSVR vids now that the servers are supposedly fixed
I have no interest in revisiting ACC in
VR no matter what headset or computer I'm using. It's just a terrible implementation of VR.
I feel even with a 4090 I wouldn’t be happy with ACC, since the game just doesn’t look good past a car length or 2
just getting into iracing. i have the quest3. pc is being built right now with a 3060 and i9. is that enough?
You should be fine to run it, just maybe not at the best settings.
My cable is a USB-A hookup to my PC. I think most third party cables are.
How would you compare visual quality between Quest 3 and HP Reverb G2?
When it comes to VR, I would go with the best GPU you can afford. You can never have to much power.

@@AndreaTrocinodoes cable matter which one are you using? I’m using random Usbc to Usbc cable and test the speed and getting 300mbps to the headset
see but 72hz is supper choppy but in racing games its not that noticable! so 72hz is a good option
just get a pimax crystal light and all issues solved i returned the meta 3 its just not ready yet
the res i almost there but not enough of a jump
I dont kbow what im doing wrong but for me iracing look blurry and i got à 4090
Something ain't right than. You followed my settings? Do you have sharpening on in the iRacing settings?
@@thecasualracinggamer Cool, I’ll double check the debug settings and bump the resolution slider up as well to see if that makes a difference..
My sim rig is in storage for a move so annoyingly I can't test yet.
when can we have our steering wheels/hands in the car? that will be next level
In asseto corsa you can use your hands, with the quest controllers and i think works with Hand Tracking too!
Why does mine not show me link sharpening as an option?
hi m8 thanks for video, I've tried to change encoder settings bitrate but i cannot get higher than 500mbps, ive opened word, typed in 700 saved it, opened again and copied the number 700, when i open oculus debug tool and try to right click in the bar that sais 0 it does nothing, there is no way to paste it, can you elaborate this final step, it does allow me to change to 500 manually, thanks m8
After you copy the number, do Control and "V" on your keyboard to paste it in the debug tool on that line.
@@thecasualracinggamer yes this works i did google it and managed to change, thanks for reply, im gonna try it out soon, :)
@@thecasualracinggamer i put my encoder on 900 as i have 3090 i found that virtual desktop is loads better than link cable at mo runs smooth as butter i did check some boxes in setting of vd that made it even better, one was making darks darker, half life alyx looks the best ive ever seen it, unreal how clear it is and smooth as butter will try a sim later, nice one m8
Are you saying VD looks and runs better than using a link cable with pumped up settings? Are you using a dedicated router for VR? I believe to get iRacing to work via VD, you need to run it through Steam, right? I don't play iRacing through Steam.
@thecasualracinggamer I've not played I racing so I don't no, half life altx looks unreal with everything on max 90fps every box ticked, f123 did play better with link cable, so maybe it's down to each game and how it's been optimized, I did use f123 with your settings and all the in game vr on ultra and it played well, not as clear as alyx game that's the best one so far, some pc oculus games look stunning as well
W video , can u do assetto corsa setting
Setting your Quest settings should already help with compression and clarity. You would need to then play with your AC settings based on your system. I haven't gotten into AC settings as it's not a game I play as often as others.
Can you do this with RTX4060 and Ryzen 5 5600?
You would have to play with it and see what settings work best for your setup.
Subbed!
Hey, i have quest 3 with 4070 super and i cant get the graphics set up. its so blurry. I had it decent, but then tinkered with it to make it better and made it worse and got stuck any suggestions.I'd pay you $100 to hop on a call and help me get it figured out. thx Swifty
Just go back to default settings if you think you messed something up.
Hello there, I’m on windows 11. When I switch the encode bitrate with control v, it does not save the 700 mod, tried control S to save and it reverts back to zero. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
Not sure. Are you able to type in 500? Are you sure you are doing it in the right spot?
Any idea how to fix the road being extremely bright
Hmmm, that's a first I've heard of that one.
I have a 13900k and a 4090. Night time / rain races in AC are still a little too much for this hardware. I have to turn down some settings to not drop frames. I'm both CPU and GPU limited at different sections when the frames drop (looking at the openxr toolkit FPS display in-game).
My problems with the quest 2:
Panel gaps (trunk edges to the body) look really weird at night, its like a white reflection
Some fences look strange (chain link looks really bad sometimes)
Are those two issues better on the quest 3?
I have tried changing so many settings, I just cannot get the night time reflections on the rear ends of cars to look better.
Wondering if the new lenses / higher res would make this better?
I have not gotten to deep into AMS2 and the Quest 3 for testing out all the different scenrios. I know rain, night time and reflections are always power hogs and can look bad at times. I feel the same about shadows.
You may have said this but what graphics card are you using? And with the link cable, what input delay are your working with?
I haven't tested the input delay, but I'm using an RTX 3080.
With a RTX 4060 and up will be better
How do you get your video centered while recording?
I'm using the oculus pro
What do you mean by centered?
You know how you can select the right or left eye to record. In this video, you look dead center
Oh, I record full screen using Oculus Mirror. I did a video on how to do it. When you are in mirror on your headset, click on the picture to bring up the menu with all different recording options.

@@thecasualracinggamer are you selecting left or right?
Thank you very much ! I got meta quest 3
I run 80 hz at maximum resolution and 500 bitrate (4070ti , i5 13600kf)
The interior looks amazing so crisp but i still find the place i am looking at while driving (ahead) still ahve some blur any tips how to fix it
Did you try raising the bitrate even higher, like 700, 800 or up to 940? You need to copy and paste any number above 500 in there. You won't be able to type it.
Actually i couldn't paste the 700 mbps in oculus debug tool as this latter doesn't allow me to paste !! Simply the right click isn't allowed on debug tool window
CTRL and V to paste it.
I have quest3 and when I tried this my headset went crazy. Black and white streaks everywhere and unusable. 4080 super ryzen 9 and high end other components. When I switch your settings back it works but looks the same lame quality as usual. Any suggestions? Thanks justin
me too, trying to figure it out myself
That's strange. You are using it wired, right?
@@thecasualracinggamer yeah using a rtx 4070 and a intel i7 laptop... maybe thats why? anything over 250 just starts stuttering and jittering 1-4 fps with black and white streaks
