I just bought a 2023 z900 last week, and i love it! Its a blast to ride and has plenty of power in stock form. Plus its hard to beat the smoothness of an inline 4.
Got a Z900 for my son serving the Army in Europe. Sent it over after a flash, headers and air filter upgrade… It’s a monster on the Autobahn! Great review!
Just fit an aftermarket quickshifter on the Z900 and problem solved. There are plenty of videos with Guys on RUclips fitting aftermarket Quickshifters to Z900. Nice review but let's clear a couple of details....MT09 119HP, 68.58 ft lbs torque. So the MT09 (pre 2024 models) is close enough in overall power to keep up with the Z900. Why you ask? because the Z900, a wondeful bike, is a porker bike at 467.5lbs wet verses the MT09 at under 417 lbs wet, regardless whether Z900 "feels" light or not. Can't fool mother nature (physics). I test drove a Z900 bc I want it bad...back in 2021 - same color way - red and black, it's a wicked good look, I think. but....I'm an old guy, an old, old guy and it's footpegs are set fairly far back and something about the sitting geometry that stretched my inner thigh muscles something fierce. I was sore for a couple of days and that was just on a test ride. Didn't have that problem on the KTM890 or the MT09. Now let's talk about the 2024 MT09...re-styled, revamped suspension, frame, sitting and steering geometry, switch controls, new larger display with better layout and more intutiative menus, plus has quickshifter, cruise control as standard. All those missing on the new Z900 and Z900 still doesn't have a 6 way IMU to give you cornering e-controls. Engine remains the same spec wise for the 2024 MT09. It did however gain weight, it weighs in now at 425lbs wet so still way lighter than the Z900 ever thought about being. I still love that color scheme though...have to admit and I love Kawasaki bikes, owned 2 Kawasakies; a KZ650 (that'll ring your memory banks - 1976) and ZX10R (2006, fastest bike I ever had - other big bore bikes were 1981 GS1100EX(my fav of all) and a YZF1000) but I want a nice light sport naked now and will get one this summer or fall, probably fall. Deals should be had then. Either a new 790 Duke or a used 890 Duke.
Your a great source of info, you know your bikes - HEY Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻!! Thanks for being apart of the Channel!! Stay in Touch. Ride SAFE!!
@@QuickRipzz yeah, especially if I can find a good used 890 GT or R. But yeah, had all “multi’s” (I4s) bikes. Today’s twins are amazing engines, I think. Smaller, lighter and torquey, from the likes of KTM, Aprilia and few others, making high power output twins. And, the 2024 MT09s are getting expensive. Tho it is hard to beat the 2024 MT09 for all the “toys” it comes with, electronically and suspension. The new KTM990 proves that. It cost way more money. It might be a more focused performance bike but you pay for it at $12,500 USD vs $10,599 for the MT09 - all 2024 base models, course KTM only has base model now for the new 990. The new MT09SP looks to be $12,299 USD to give you a frame of reference which would probably be closer spec wise to the new 990 - suspension and brakes. Pricing for new liter bikes has gotten out of hand, it’s like dreaming about a McLaren or Porsche, lol.
@@QuickRipzzAs someone who has a GSX8S and had a MT09, I would get a duke any day over the MT09. Those 2 cylinder make crazy torque in the mid end. My next high powered bike will definitely be a BIG 2 cylinder naked. I just love the sound they make :) My GSX8S made me fall in love with 2 cylinders, especially once I got an exhaust, intake mod, and flash on it. :)
@JustaRider808 Brembo Brakes are TOP TIER BRAKES- Samething, with Ohlins - if it doesn't fit your budget, don't hurt yourself worrying about not getting them. Any more Questions I'm here for you! That just my TWO cents worth.

@@RayBowdenRides thanks Ray, yes was basically meaning if you stopped at the lights then took off full throttle does the traction control prevent the wheel coming all the way up and throwing you off the back of the bike
@@Mike10001977yes. I tried to loop mine and the front wheel got up to around waist high before limiting, not cutting exactly, the throttle. It will usually power wheelie about 6 inches off the ground. It does not abruptly cut throttle like a lot of bikes. It will prevent it from going much higher, but it will still let you do it. I'm convinced that kawasaki purposely hires hooligans as engineers.
"Nowadays, there are 7 motorcycle manufacturers in Thailand with total capacity of production at 3 million units per year. They are Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, BMW, Triumph and Ducati." "Lower costs, high production quality and more efficient delivery to India, Africa and Europe are fast making Thailand not just an assembler, but also a top manufacturer of streetbikes."
Ray, if you could take a corner at 140 you would be world famous lol. I been thinking about it and I bet Kawasaki is thinking if you want a naked bike that is what the z900 is. If you want all the touring daddy bells and whistles then Kawasaki has the Ninja 1000sx for you. Just like my ladies I prefer my bikes Naked
Ooh your bad - and right, I would be world Famous if i could!!Thanks Carlos for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻, You made my day with that!! Stay in Touch !! Have a AWESOME weekend.
If you compare both bikes properly you can see why the 2024MT09 is more expensive. Like aluminum deltabox frame, 3rd gen QS, 6 axis IMU, cruise control, display connectivity and more. The Z900 is a bit old hat tech wise. Ignore the fanboyism and buy the one you like best and you will be very happy with either of these great bikes.
The new 2024 MT09 has a quick shifter up and down “auto bleeper” and cruise control. With updated switch gear and new display. It’s well worth the few hundred dollars price difference.
IMO Yamaha really flubbed the FZ when they changed the name and butchered the looks of the FZ1/MT10! I was sick when i saw the MT10 for the first time!
You're very wrong about the MT-09 quick shifter. It's very well documented as a quick shift up and down, and you can do both whether you're accelerating or decelerating. It's super smooth and nice (from what I've watched, haven't ridden one). But honestly, the biggest thing keeping me from getting a Z900 instead of an MT-09 is Z900 lacks cruise control, and they really need to update the styling. If they would have given the Z900 the same headlight styling that the new 2024 Z500 has and cruise control, I'd be sold. I don't care that much about quick shifters.
I agree that Mt-09 has more tech, but look at he ugly headlight 😞. The Z900 is has a beast look and is smooth to drive with good hp. Overall, way more sales of Z900 that MT-09.
Geez stop painting the silencer in matte black. It scratches so damn easy, can't be polished and looks dirty in 2 seconds. Still don't like the headlight but it's a fun bike to ride even though I think the rev limit is low. That said the MT09 will beat it in a dragrace due to the torque. And I have more fun on that. Don't give a rats about top speed. But everyone to their own.
Mt09 is ugh and feels like a dirt bike. Z900 is a better valve looks and feels like a sportbike. The z900 is well planted handles better. the mt09 is better for wheelies
Quit saying MT10 your trying to compare to an MT09. Also from 2021-2024 the Yamaha MT09 can quickshift up and down. Also its the MT07 that has a firing interval of 90 and 270 degrees. A triple cylinder fires every 120 degrees which yes is the same as a triumph triple.
Im sorry but you seem wrong on almost every point with the comparison with the 24 mt09, including the name 😂. The kawa might look better in someone’s opinion and cost a small amount less but seriously you should make some more reaserch. The mt09 is on a different level in my opinion.
The MT09 is not on another level. In a straight line the Z900 is quicker, its faster top end, it’s more aggressive ergonomics and slightly longer swingarm makes it more stable in the corners, in terms of full spec the Z900 SE has fully adjustable suspension/ ohlins rear shock just like the SP. The main advantage of the SP over the SE is radial mounted brakes…
@@sleeper.simulant7327you kinda forgot about the MT’s IMU, quickshifter, factory cruise control, more torque, lighter weight, radial mount brakes, made in Japan reliability and better resale. These are all on the base MT-09, not SP.
@@tg8150 actually the Z900 SE does have radial mounted Brembo’s and steel braided brake lines. The brake feel is supposedly very good. Although all reviewers like the stock z900’s brakes as well… I couldn’t care less about all those electronics for a road bike, more that can break/go wrong. If I wanted cruise control I’d have bought a touring bike. The IMU is unnecessary for anything shy of a super sport or anyone doing hardcore regular track days… The only thing I like is at least a quickshifter for upshifts for hard pulls, that’s a cheap upgrade on any bike. Those electronics don’t change the fact that for aggressive riding the Z900 is still the better bike, it’s easier to ride fast as it’s more predictable, stable, and the riding position is more commanding. The MT09 is a fun hoon bike… Also the MT09 does not have more torque, look at dyno charts for both bikes. The Z900 makes more torque everywhere. The MT09 “feels” torquier or snappier cause the throttle is wicked responsive and twitchy…
Bro, you were making crap up along the way. The MT09 is far superior tech wise, handles WAY better than the Z900, and is a hooligan bike for sure. I'm a Kawi guy, owned a zx1100 years ago, still own a ZXR1200R fully modded now that I bought new in 2005, owned a KZ1000A years ago, and will soon own an H2. Love Kawi bikes. But trying to shit on the MT-09 is just insane. I also own a 2017 Yamaha FZ-09 that I bought new and it's one hell of a good bike. That cross plane triple motor absolutely screams, can put it in a corner like is on rails, and good luck keeping the front tire on the ground when you lay into the throttle. You should really research before you do reviews of bike because saying MT10 all video long just made you look rediculous...Both the MT-09 and the Z900 are great bikes but they are way different in most every way possible. My FZ-09 fits me ways better than the Kawi Z900 did when I test road it so I bought the FZ-09...Between these 2 bikes it's riders choice really...Now mine is an honest review!
Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻, I just love Kawasaki's the value for dollar is undeniable to me - Yamaha is way over priced , but that's just me. Either way I read what the comments are and learn! Thanks for input! I really do appreciate it!
@@RayBowdenRides and also 5:07 mt09 does up and down and it has one of the best quick shifter. The MT09 2024 has also updated its quickshifteryou can donwshift without the need to clsoe the throttle how cool is that? Even better than the fancy italian ones. and a thought before you make a video about a comparison atleast try to ride both. your kidna bias because you only rode the a z900.
The FZ09/MT09 does not handle better than the Z900… the latest variant with the updated chassis and much better suspension after 2021 maybe similar, but definitely not the prior models. The Z900 feels FAR more stable, and is a little more confidence inspiring when riding really hard. The FZ09/MT09 (pre2021) gets squirrelly when ridden hard, the Z900 doesn’t… the Z900 you sit more in the pocket and leaned forward a bit more which is also nicer for riding hard… the stubby wheelbase on the FZ/MT09 doesn’t help with its twitchiness…
Made in Thailand 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️! Such a shame as the build quality will be horrible! Maybe not straight away but the bike will age extremely quickly as Thai build quality as we all know is terrible!! I bought one in Australia and found this out after buying and now refuse to ride it as I don’t want it to break down on my and leave me stranded and I have to pay to fix and tow truck. I will not buying another Kawasaki product ever again! After many years of buying JAPANESE made Kawasakis I will never be a customer again. Very Disappointed with this as they are not thinking of the customer at all and just thinking of their own pockets.
@@RayBowdenRides the lucky few. While the rest of us deal with electronic gremlins, premature metal oxidisation, premature engine paint flaking, struggling to hot start, exhaust header rust after 3000kms (never ridden in the rain and cleaned religiously). I can go on and on trust me. And I’m religious with servicing and it’s a 2021 model before you suggest age related
You can tell if they are made in Thailand straight away by the VIN if it’s starts with ML it’s Thai made junk, if starts with JK it’s Japanese which will be beautiful. Just so you can let people know or even do a video about this info to maybe put the wind up Kawasaki to let them know customers are noticing the drop in care for build quality and hopefully they will pull their head in and get back to their roots of making supremely built JAPANESE motorcycles. Cheers for the video just trying my best to let everyone know and raise awareness to customers wanting to purchase a z900 to make sure it’s made in JAPAN

@user-gi4iu1st8x you too!
Ride SAFE!!
you'd get a Duke over the mt09?
I just love the sound they make :)
My GSX8S made me fall in love with 2 cylinders, especially once I got an exhaust, intake mod, and flash on it. :)
@HifeMan KTM makes a cool bike!! Thanks for being apart of the Channel 🙏🏻.

@@RayBowdenRides thanks Ray, yes was basically meaning if you stopped at the lights then took off full throttle does the traction control prevent the wheel coming all the way up and throwing you off the back of the bike
@Mike10001977 are you worried about looping it out? You shouldn't have a problem.
I'm convinced that kawasaki purposely hires hooligans as engineers.
good looking machine

If you compare both bikes properly you can see why the 2024MT09 is more expensive. Like aluminum deltabox frame, 3rd gen QS, 6 axis IMU, cruise control, display connectivity and more.
The Z900 is a bit old hat tech wise. Ignore the fanboyism and buy the one you like best and you will be very happy with either of these great bikes.

Blipper not Bleeper
IMO Yamaha really flubbed the FZ when they changed the name and butchered the looks of the FZ1/MT10! I was sick when i saw the MT10 for the first time!
Alot of people where turned off by the looks.
Yeah I agree. That’s why I bought a 2016 fz09 lol 😂 it looks way better. I couldn’t do the mt09
Roger that! Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻 my friend. Stay in Touch and Ride SAFE!
I agree that Mt-09 has more tech, but look at he ugly headlight 😞. The Z900 is has a beast look and is smooth to drive with good hp. Overall, way more sales of Z900 that MT-09.

If the tail section wasn't unreasonably high I would already have one , seriously it absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary.
Ok, Hey thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻. Thanks for being apart of the Channel.
Hey thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻, Thanks for being apart of the Channel!!
Mt09 is ugh and feels like a dirt bike. Z900 is a better valve looks and feels like a sportbike. The z900 is well planted handles better. the mt09 is better for wheelies
And that pretty much sums it up!! Thanks for Watching and Commenting Chris 🙏🏻.
Thanks William!! Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻. Thanks for being apart of the Channel!!
465lbs not 420lb
Although all reviewers like the stock z900’s brakes as well…
I couldn’t care less about all those electronics for a road bike, more that can break/go wrong. The MT09 is a fun hoon bike…
Also the MT09 does not have more torque, look at dyno charts for both bikes. The Z900 makes more torque everywhere. The MT09 “feels” torquier or snappier cause the throttle is wicked responsive and twitchy…
@@tg8150 also since when is the Z900 not made in Japan? They have an “A” VIN code (11th digit in) which means they are made in Japan…
@kmotopov thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻, I do love kawasaki's. MT-09 IS A GREAT BIKE.

Well there are people with 60,000 miles on a z900 that would disagree with you completely!
@@RayBowdenRides the lucky few. While the rest of us deal with electronic gremlins, premature metal oxidisation, premature engine paint flaking, struggling to hot start, exhaust header rust after 3000kms (never ridden in the rain and cleaned religiously).
