But luckily they survived and have become some of the most expensive types of movement on the market. Out of these more expensive watched... Ive never been keen on omega tbh... Something about the dial and the hands... I just don't like the style... So I'd probably start off my collection with a Rolex... Tudor apparently ate quite good watches........a company that does good quality rolex homage style watches with a much more reasonable price tag is a company called pagani..... You can get a well made timepiece for £90...or even $90....these watches include sapphire glass and also have a.. Automatic movement.... I might get myself one to see how I get on with it... I think they even do a Rolex daytona homage which is skelwtonised... Looks the bomb.... Sorry I'm waffling now... Enjoy your evening

I hate this bad advice. There is 0 reasons to collect watches if your collection ideology is to check off checkmarks like owning a g shock, owning a diver, owning a dress watch. I have a casioak and it sucks. It has poor legibility, especially since the LED doesn't light up the entire watch, it's thick and for large wrists, and setting it up is a nightmare. Every collection should have atleast one G shock though right guys???? I think every collection should stop being bloated with cheap quartz watches and misaligned seikos, you're just slowing yourself down from getting a watch you actually want.

I bought my A168 in Japan about 7 years ago. And yes, it was about $25. I was surprised how cheap it was, and I'm glad I bought in Japan before returning home, because I noticed more and more Casio's like the A168 or the Databanks being sold in stores. Problem is, they retail for $100 here. I don't know why the price is 4 times the amount, but they're all quite expensive here in Australia. Considering how good the watches are though, I don't blame anyone for paying 4 times the amount I did. Almost had mine 10 years and only thing I've had to replace on it is the slide clasp, which was easily replaceable. I love it.

Casio is such a great brand with a cool history and a very wide selection. My G-Shock takes serious beatings at my work, and it's nice to know that I never have to worry about breaking it. Usually most of these retro styled classic digital Casios with basic specs are way more expensive where I live, than in the US and other places. This A168 thankfully holds about the same price though.
It's so cool these models are still made, and let's just hope they will continue to make them for a long time. I've been thinking about getting the stelthier version of this with a negative display, the A168WEM. It's around $46 though.

Casio has been part of my collection since I was in high school. Some watches are all show and no go. Casios always deliver.
I’ve had one of these for years. Aside from the price tag, they are appealing in a 1980s sort of way. Like old school MTV and Max Headroom. I’m an 80s child so each time I strap this one on, I’m back in high school. Great review.

I’ve owned a Casio WV58A-1AV “world time” “wave captor” for over 15 years. It still sells for around $50 on amazon and has 4.5 stars over 2000 reviews. I recently replaced the strap, which had crumbled while I had it in storage (I didn’t know rubberized plastic straps could disintegrate with age - now I do!). I installed a new battery today and reset the time and date. I think the default year started at either 2001 or 2005. It is a very comfortable, sleek, practical design and has a good backlight. It’s a fantastic value - a cool watch. Also Liam Neeson wears one in “Non-Stop”!

I own a GWM5610 G-Shock and I use it as a everyday watch. What I love about my watch is that it has Multiband 6 and a solar powered battery. That something iv always hated about wearing a quartz watch is that once the battery dies you have to change which ruins the watches water resistance and most the battery's in some these watches last 2-5 years. Teddy I hope you get your hands on a G-shock with multiband 6 and solar powered capabilities. especially a G-shock square it's my favorite type of G-shock.

I've only ever rarely used the alarm hourly beep or the main alarm and only worn it occasionally since 1998 when I bought a new watch as my daily. So the light hasn't been used much. I still can't believe it's on the same battery. Hands down a great watch to use as a daily or use when you fancy a change and want that retro feeling. 10/10

My A158W is a beautiful little thing. I can imagine the slightly larger case with nicer backlight is even better. But I do love my little F91W in “chrome”. It’s tough, it’s cheap, and the WR rating is a lie. I can’t kill it. I think the “horrible” backlight is fine. Maybe I got lucky and got a bright one.
I haven’t found the bracelet to pull my arm hair, and I’m a hairy wog. It’s more comfortable than most of my Seiko and Citizen bracelets. Not bad when the watch costs less than the bracelet on these alone. Lol.
The only downside to them is that in Australia, they are jacked up in price to the point where it becomes challenging to justify the cost. But the second hand market isn’t too scarce.

Thank you for reviewing something like this. I get tired of the $25,000 watches. Given the current economic state of the world those are unattainable for probably 99% of your viewers. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a cool interesting watch. And I’m not talking about fashion stuff. I am very grateful that you’re not a watch snob . And just because others cover it doesn't really mean they're watch snobs. It just means people wanna watch that stuff and me too and that's fine. There's nothing wrong with creating or viewing content of more expensive watches and that's regardless of whether you're able to afford them. It's great that we have RUclips and we can even see those pieces which we might not be able to afford. And even if you can afford some of them it's great to be able to see so many of them, more than you can own. Brilliant to see a Teddy review on one of the most affordable modern classic brands. I've had many Casio watches over the years since the 1980's when I started work. I have no idea how many I had over that 40 year+ period but none of them ever failed due to a manufacturing fault. Most had resin bands that failed or got damaged during my misspent youth on a motorcycle. I still have some of my originals 'somewhere' after some house moves but I have re-purchased some over recent years and they do get wrist time. As a tool to tell the time you could argue why would you buy another watch as you say. A great point but the watch community is not head or logic driven but heart driven. That heart for me anyway applies to watches that are quartz digital, analog or mechanical regardless of the brand name on the dial. Great review Teddy.

I have this watch, but it’s in an all silver finish from Casio’s Vintage line and I have to say, it’s quite the watch. I’ve been collecting for four years now and honestly it’s a fun piece to wear. A watch that will get the job done from morning to night. A watch I don’t have to wind, set, and regulate now and again. Slap it on the wrist and you’re ready, this is what I enjoy from quartz movements. I also wear a Soviet digital watch along with this one, Elektronika 55. Got it for only .99 cents off eBay. Popped a new battery in and there you go. Keeps just as accurate time as my Casio but is filled with a lot of features. Time, day-date & year, alarm, stopwatch, and countdown timer. The backlight is also quite impressive too. Overall, the Casio is just an all around good beginners timepiece but also great for those that have been collecting for a long time. It doesn’t stop me from smiling now and again when I have mine on the wrist.
