This is one of the best videos of this kind I've seen. Besides the sheer destructive force of fire, the obstacles and frustrations that confront the firefighters are evident and plainly visible. Housing too close with multiple exposures, overhead wires which may or may not have been deactivated, automobiles obstructing the scene and impeding the progress of equipment. The quality of this video us outstanding and educational. Good job. God bless our Firefighters and our Police.

Tornadochaser66, Yours is the third video of this fire I have watched tonight and by far the best. You arrived during the early stages of this fire which shows Paterson's bravest going about their business in an extremely professional manner. This was a serious fire with multiple exposure problems but PFD got the job done. I'm guessing there were mutual aid departments working at this fire during it's later stages but PFD sure worked their butts off early on to save as much life and property as they possibly could. Would love to see the complete unedited version. Thanks for being there and taking the time to post it for all the world to see.

Another great video Matt. This reminds me of when I was a kid, most of our main street burned down from an arson fire. It made a big impression on me and thats why I spent 40 years in the Fire Service. Nice work Paterson Brothers.

Exposure problems is the understatement here. I can just hear property owners years ago saying, hey, I have 5 lots that are 40 feet wide. Let's build 5 big houses. Great video!

These firefighters are true heroes. I was born in NJ and lived in Westfield, North Arlington, and Rutherford as a child. These tightly-packed houses are generally the rule rather than the exception. The fact that more buildings didn't catch fire and burn to the ground shows the excellent work done by these brave men.

with row houses when one burns several others will as well. and being so close to one another it's almost hard NOT to have several or more go at once.. so sad they have been built so close but like in PA as well get more people to live there. but not safe for a fire at all. not sure if these were lived in or being remodeled or not. but so sad to see. :(

Very good footage of this fire and very clear radio traffic.
Those firefighters did a great job saving the majority of the block which could have burned down as a whole because the houses are that close together.
On the satellite view on Google maps which shows 2018 for the satellite photographs the houses which have been on fire seem to have new roofs on them, so even those houses were not completely destroyed, there were several houses under renovation already at the moment of the fire, like the big house on the corner, street view shows this house with rotten siding on the 2014 images.

All that close proximity housing and cars in the way is a fact of city life . People must live somewhere and there’s only so much space . It’s like living in Japan on the ring of fire with earthquake and tsunami risk , or in California where everyone talks about ‘The big one’ . Or in any of the places with tornadoes or with hurricanes. Life includes risk I suppose . If you live in a rural area The ambulance finally arrives and you’re dead already . But in the city hospitals are close ,and so are fire stations . You make your choices , no choice is without risk .

All these wooden buildings need to be ripped down ASAP. they're all death traps. Fire just rips right through them especially if it's windy, they're also built far too close to each other. personally I wouldn't thank you for one of those houses even if they were FREE. 😣😯😑
