Today, Boston fire department responded to a fire where two 3 decker occupied buildings were fully involved in the rear or the C side of the buildings. Within one minute, the battalion chief ordered a third alarm. Trapped residents were successfully evacuated in just over three minutes. The fire was reported to be knocked down in just about 25 minutes where overhauling operations commenced. The all out was sounded in a little over an hour while companies were making up. This is Boston fire department and why it has such a great reputation. I know the way it fights fires with over 30 years in observing them personally. From what I observed in this video, Newark FD needs to be restaffed with qualified chiefs and undergo retraining of its officers and members. This was a very poor performance of leadership and so-called professional firefighting.
Good camera angle at the first half minute: we see the effect of flammable material on the outside of the house to the right (exposure 4, I guess), probably some sort of plastic used as waterproof cover. What does this remind us of? Yes, the Grenfell Tower disaster in London some 4 years ago: styrofoam on the outside of the highrise had caught fire, causing the whole structure to burn like a torch. Fire seems to have started in that barbecue restaurant in the middle. Forgotten to turn off that deep fryer, probably!

It took 3:30 minutes to get the first deck gun fired up from the beginning of this video. That doesn’t actually tell us how long from when the engine first arrived on scene which not shown in this video. On the other hand, in a similar fire in Boston it took 1.15 minutes from when Engine 56 first arrived on scene for the pump operator to get water onto the fire with his deck gun. Excellent teamwork. He uses tank water first while other members set up hydrant and keeps the water flowing without interruption. Record timing. Kudos BFD. This is common with Boston Fire. I’ve witnessed it dozens of times. 👎Newark Fire Department needs a replacement of this battalion chief or deputy chief and retraining of its firefighters. Absolutely no excuse for such a delay in getting water onto the fire. This is not a volunteer department located in the boonies that rely on tank water supplied by trucks. I’ve even seen such departments get water faster on a fire utilizing the engine’s tank water.
I don't know if it is just me, or whether there is an underlying reason not known to me, but in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany etc water is pumped a lot sooner on to the fire than in the US. In the UK a small line or two are put into action immediately on arrival whilst the main lines are setup. There also doesn't seem to be the urgency to fight the fire. If you YT several fire fighting videos from Netherlands, you will see what I mean. Does anyone have any insight into this?
Great Job by the PD, the battalion and the civilian autos blocking out the scene so additional resources could not be brought into the front of the fire building, ex. a tower ladder or additional ladder truck
I know east coast radio communication is different than the Midwest, why does dispatch talk so much. Why doesn't command talk to everyone on scene, then if he needs something, he talks to dispatch.
WOW. Ever heard of the deck gun, boys? Armchair quarterback I know, but WAY too long using that deck gun. Empty your tank if you need to before positive water. It will buy you time even if the fire doesn’t go out.

@@ted1091 Listen to the FULL audio of the incident... Then take note of all the lines going into the structure... Take special note of all the rescues being made in the rear... As well as the active search and evacuation... Then admit how much of a fool you are making of yourself
I guess the fire crews forgot to grab a hand line and hook it up and start spraying water on the fire on the roof. That could have slowed down at least the exterior fire while the hydrants were being hooked up. The deck guns are great but you can start putting water on the Fire with a hand line with one person while other crews are doing other tasks.
3 minutes to get water, from the start of the video. Big red hoses, a lot of water from the city, and then you see the deck gun with the same pressure of your house hose. It's pretty embarrassing having those big trucks, big V8 engine, a lot of lights and then nothing. Probably a lot of the power is needed for the alternators to keep all those lights on. In Europe, we have truck half the size of those US, and not only they are smaller, but they have internal tank for water and foam!

Exactly how long did it take...?
Provide the proof of each time frame...
@SuperMarketSimGuy64
You clearly aren't a firefighter
@SuperMarketSimGuy64
Your own words prove you've never worked a fire in your life
@SuperMarketSimGuy64
The more you type... the more you prove you have never been a firefighter... no matter how many times you 👍 your own comments 🤣
Before they put water on the fire dont the firefighters have to go in and see if there anyone in the building beore they put water on the fire @SuperMarketSimGuy64

Where be the tower ladders??
Awesome footage! May God bless all the emergency personnel who put their lives at risk to save ours. I hope everyone got out ok and that they may be able to recover from this.
Not a SINGLE deck gun in operation!! Terrible decision making!!
Two were eventually deployed.
Well when nobody bothers to lay a supply line...
@@ffjsb A supply line was laid but not charged for about 10 minutes. Why, who knows.
They had to wait for Tony Soprano and Snooki to give the ‘ok’.
@@rexmayn3171 Ahhh, I knew something was afoot!! Thanks for sharing that!!
In other news to review.. the Hot Toddy had a hint of smoky flavor today.
Awesome catch man!! Thanks for putting it up and with the comms!!
Kommt mir es nur so vor , oder haben dieFeuerwehrehn in USA immer Probleme eine funktionierende Wasserversorgung aufzubauen?
Awesome coverage and awesome job by all responders. Hope everyone is ok...🤗🤗
2:21 thanks for reminding me that I'm impotent; and have an enlarged prostate....
They were rescuing people. Cant spray until they are out of the way. Other side was already spraying
❤😂😂❤❤😂😂😅😅😊😊😊😊its a service we can't live without right they deserve alot of credit tons of it let's honor and appreciate the paramedics and firemen and police who proudly serve us your service and time and efforts are deeply appreciated thanks great job great team work and great and sweet catches as usual still going strong great team efforts are deeply appreciated thanks let's stop and hope everyone is doing ok right stay safe and warm out there !! Joe
Look at how old these buildings are.
Jesus christ people....
Get out your Essentials book and look up "forward lay".🙄🙄🙄
🧐 jetzt gibts kein Liquor mehr zum trinken 😳
I know from experience and research, that by applying water to a fire , greatly increases the chances that the fire will not spread as fast or as far
most fire departments let the structure burn down before taking any action.
usually they take 2-1/2 hours to set up for a 15 minute operation.
I see you are quite bitter over the fact that you couldn't get a single FD to hire you 🤣
Respect aux pompiers pour leurs dévouement sauver les gens et les biens les héros
Any time you get a Fire in a Liquor Store you have More Fuel for the Fire to burn.
No. Just NO. VERY few liquors will actually burn well until you get up to 150 proof. And there aren't that many liquors of that proof.
Fire seems to have started in Latinos BBQ Restaurant (574 Broadway)
Two firefighters committed on adjacent roof and water hits the building (well i say hit) at 3.30 minutes!!!
Modern wirkende Feuerwehr! Aber kein Tanklöschfahrzeug, das verzögert die Löscharbeiten massiv!
This department needs a new chief.
What is it about SUVs and mobile phones in the USA today, from Australia NSW 2371?
Here in the UK all the emergency services radios operate on secure channels that ca t be listened into.
Great video Jeff stay safe brother...😮
This more than a 3 alarm it's definitely 4 that terrible 😢🙏🙏
Once they had those 2 deck monitors going, they took care of business!
Why didn't Newark utilize the other 2 Ladder trucks during this fire ?
It went from bad to worse because they tried fighting it from the ground.
saw it all the way from branch brook park
Dumping the deck gun??
It sure took long enough for them to start spraying water...
Is this the same narrator from the Magestirium RUclips channel?
Noooooo
either civilians could help pull hose or get the hell out of the way !!!!
Some are helping, some are filming …
WOW. Ever heard of the deck gun, boys? Armchair quarterback I know, but WAY too long using that deck gun. Empty your tank if you need to before positive water. It will buy you time even if the fire doesn’t go out.
Thanks for confirming you have no clue what you are yapping about
God forbid any of those trucks should have gotten a hose on the fire. What exactly do these guys do?
There was water on the fire before the video even started... and continued throughout
But good for you proving you haven't the faintest idea what you are even looking at
@@virgilhilts3924 no there wasn't. You're making that up.

Listen to the FULL audio of the incident...
Then take note of all the lines going into the structure...
Take special note of all the rescues being made in the rear...
As well as the active search and evacuation...
Then admit how much of a fool you are making of yourself
Why did those 2 firemen stay so long at the roof?
Someone Please find the power switch for the ladder truck! Why put firemen on the roof before the deck gun with water? Geez what a mess.
Okay fire service leaders..... in this day and age, when FF cancer is still a devastating problem, why do FF's walk into a wall of smoke with no air?
Did they ever find out what caused the fire?
Turn the fucking water on.
Don't wooden buidings burn really well.
I expect nothing less from drivers in New Jersey.
Holzhäuser?
3 minutes to get water, from the start of the video. Big red hoses, a lot of water from the city, and then you see the deck gun with the same pressure of your house hose. It's pretty embarrassing having those big trucks, big V8 engine, a lot of lights and then nothing. Probably a lot of the power is needed for the alternators to keep all those lights on. In Europe, we have truck half the size of those US, and not only they are smaller, but they have internal tank for water and foam!
New Jersey does not know how to fight fires, because they are scare to put water on the fire
Great Job Jeff AND Fantastic Coverage Stay Safe Bro
Newark Fire Department was on the money.
Is there a drought in Newark?
Looks as though the fire team spent. A few minuets in Tony’s.
Jeff, Great job on the narration!! Do also do "TheMajestirium1" platform in NYC??
