Here’s an A shift fire video if you would like to watch it. ruclips.net/video/EMAQGFQ3BGA/видео.html Just to answer a few frequently asked questions. 1. Broken Arrow Fire Department is a paid ISO Class 1 Department. 2. I don’t have any sort of go fund me information or any way to help the family. There was word that it’s a former firefighter. I can’t confirm or deny that. But y’all are great for wanting to help the family. 3. As for manpower, each engine and ladder have 3 personnel. Ladder 6 (the ladder on scene) had 2 riding, and one following in the brush truck. There were 3 engines and one ladder on scene. You can do the math. There were also 4 Firefighters between two ambulances that could help with fire attack.
The fact that they gave the fire air by cutting the garage door without any water ready to go is complete insanity and I've never had a minute of fire training.
@@adamkeye5197 EXactly, I'd love to hear whether the interior team requested horizontal ventilation of the garage door. If they did not, or command did not instruct those dueling teams of morons... It just doesn't make sense, from someone who had 5 years in fire service, and 20 years as a news photojournalist covering fires, i've been on well over 1k structure fires in my lifetime. This was like watching a benny hill skit. Fuck all out of SOP.
these firefighters are bound to have nuclei !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is why we always critique a fire incident ASAP. Starting out with the positive what we did right, and what we could've done better. For this fire I would start out with the positive Miraculously no one was injured or killed. Let's start out with full PPE with SCBA on before anyone gets near the the hot zone. Forcible entry in this case with heavy smoke puffing out the garage, you need a hoseline backup. Need to consider assigning a truck crew to vent group on the roof. Have interior group check for extension in the attic, if not done already. Keep in mind that heavy black smoke like that pumping out of the garage openning is fuel and it will eventually ignite into flames. It was good they went with a 2 1/2" hose, but too late in the game. Plus it looked as though the engineer was very slow in charging that line with water. More training is definitely needed with the stressing of full PPE including SCBAs, fireground operations, and use of saws.
As a fire service instructor for over 25 years it pains me to watch this video. I routinely discourage public criticism of fire ground tactics, however, I pray the leadership of this department uses this video as a n opportunity to evaluate fire ground operations from a personal safety perspective, the betterment if this department and the benefit to all of the citizens they may serve. There are so many serious errors demonstrated here not fault of the individuals you see here but a failure of leadership at the highest level. Please act now before it's too late! As for the home owner this video serves as evidence of negligence, duty owed, duty breeched, foreseeability, significant total loss property damage. Sorry brothers just had to comment.
I was giving them the benefit of the doubt & have so much respect for the firemen. But as a regular person watching this, I thought something is lacking in their actions. Thanks for confirming it, I thought I was expecting too much. I sure hope they got more training.
That Old dude is me. Joe Hamby, retired Tulsa Fire Department Captain. Over 400 thousand total loss. that pickup is in front of another car. that side of the garage is 40 feet long with a overhead door in the back. The fire started in the elect panel with the panel up side down, by Edison Electric contractor.
I just wish they would have been ready to go on air the minute they stepped out of the engine. Lots of time waisted there. Good as they made an interior attack first but I was afraid the outside crew was going to push it back down on them when they did get the garage door open.
@@wheelslip no need for the cutoff saw , those doors are basically trash and so thin that one push take's to take them down , and slow/not prepared firefighters , lots of wasted time and untrained personel
@@wheelslip some depts are going to the clean cab design which means bunker gear and air packs are in the truck cabinets and they don't Don them until arrival. This is to reduce carcinogen inhalation (they also decon and doff the gear and stow it back in the cabinets on the ride to quarters and then into the laundry after each fire). Supposedly, response times are faster by waiting to Don on scene, but I haven't seen that data to confirm. The big question I had at first was why they didn't take down the garage door immediately since it was where the most smoke was being emitted? Of course, I wasn't there to fully assess.....
The department i volunteered at would not allow this. We always had water on the fire within 45 seconds of being on scene. That includes making entry, VES. We would have most of the fire out before auto aid showed up. This is ridiculous.
Literally one of the best examples of what NOT TO DO on a garage fire..total garbage. Either complete lack of training or just zero experience. From total lack of coordination on the initial cutting of the doors to what seems like even a basic understanding of flow path. They legit 100% responsible for losing this structure.
How not to fight a fire. Nobody thought it would be a good idea to lay into a working fire? These guys, through lack of command, burned this home. I hope the insurance company saw this video.
What bunch of clowns! Imaging how frustrating it must be for the homeowner to stand there and watch this lot stroll around as if they are out for a walk in the park. The delay in getting water into the second garage just about sums up the ability of this crew. Disgraceful.
they might as well have finished their coffee before arriving. Pathetic fire fighting. This was like watching The Three Stooges without all the slapping and punching each other.
Absolute shambles? How? They did a fantastic job. Garage fires are a pain in the ass to get water on quickly compared to a regular structure. Yes, looks like there was a com issue trying to get the second line charged and that delayed them a bit. Other than that, they did a good job. Great teamwork, and they knocked it out. Let's break it down A: When arriving on scene, there no visible flames, only heavy smoke coming from the garage doors. This means it's in the garage. B: Only real way to access the garage to fight a fire there is the outside door. C: Once you own that up, that's fresh O2 and it's gonna just feed, that's exactly what it did. D: No they can't just open the doors, because now what if the fire is in the ceiling? Well you just put the door in the way! Wasting time closing it to cut it off anyway. E: Again, yes charging the second line seemed to have been delayed for some reason. You can see the hose crew several times trying to signal to have it charged. F: They had the first line charged fast, and went in to see what they could do from the inside while they created access from the outside. E: Fire was knocked out in what appears to be about 20 minutes. Based on the description and the little bit of chatter in the video, sounds like something exploded inside before they arrived, and there was a lot of combustible things that just fed the fire too. So again, how was this an "absolute shambles from start to finish" as you claim?
Broken Arrow must stand for Broken Fire department I hope they use this video as a training exercise, so many mistakes were made. ( Oh and when you get to fire move your ase's a bit quicker)
No doubt should be on air leaving the engine they lost as soon as they vented what was the interior attack crew doing? Its been long time ago for basic fundamentals but I recall for that type of fire fog fog fog stream am I all wet wet here. Kenneth Boren not my computer barrowed.
My Brother was a firefighter having since retired and moved to Australia where he now lives. Once he retired he became a tutor at Glasgow Airport, Scotland. He once told me he`s seen things no-one else should see. Firefighters the World over deserve our undying respect and should get it without asking. All heroes !
Quite agree aa firefighter front line in the UK I was really surprise at the lack and fire attack at the incident, but praise to ALL FIREFIGHTERS wherever they are 🤔🤔😐
@@georgegriffin9419 In the UK, within less than a minute you would have been inside with a high pressure hose reel and put the small fire out before it spread everywhere. Admittedly houses in the US are built like bonfires.
Seeing that first truck show up, relief! The house will be saved, minimal fire damage, smoke and water mostly confined to garage. Then the fire fighters exited the vehicles. Everything down hill from there. They should be rolling out crime scene tape, not fire scene.
He Is a retired Firefighter from Tulsa. A waaaaayyy more aggressive Dept. So this must of been extremely painful to watch. Should of just gave the old salt an SCBA and their turnout gear, we know they didn't need it. TFD=Good old boys, hard working, aggressive and under paid BAFD=Boys Club, overpaid, non-interior and overpaid. TFD is hiring BTW.
I am not an expert in fires and I see and recognize that the fire department has a very good team to work with...both personnel and tools. What I can see the most is the very little will and empathy to promptly attend to the fire. I get the impression that you are interested in the whole house being lost. There was no lack of water, there was a lack of will.
C certeza. Muita demora deixando o fogo se espalhar. Que está queimando. Quando chegaram era uma fumacinha saído da parte de cima da garagem. Agora n da pra ver nada de tanta fumaça.
I love the dueling cuts on the first garage door, absolutely no coordination between the two cutters. Horrible tactics and absolute dismal sense of urgency from anyone on this scene. Nice job causing more damage to the structure by venting the roof when there was literally NO SMOKE coming out of the vented ridge cap! I’m embarrassed for them…
@@corey97140 I suppose that’s a logical reason, however, as an IC myself I would never allow my crews to cut a roof open for overhaul, I send them in through the attic scuttles. I read a comment that this is a paid department, if this is true their training Division has failed their community.
@@davidrossman7925 definitely. It looks like a finished attic, so you should be able to pull ceiling and access that area. So your guess is as good as mine. 🤨 Definitely poor execution all the way around.
Do you know anything about fire fighting? Water flowing and inside in 2 minutes is excellent. If the fire had a serious head start there is nothing they can do to make up for that. They were very quick.
I was looking for this exact comment to comment on. My 9 year old son was asking why were they doing this and that. I told him, “son this a department that doesn’t fight fires on a regular and will get someone hurt or killed. No Monday morning QB here for those that think so, 24yrs in a busy city and a Training Captain for my platoon. Why would you wrap your attack lines with velcro? Why not flake from your shoulder. Why the non-chalant attitude in getting masked up to save life and property? Not gonna comment about the garage door, too easy. Why open the roof AFTER the bulk of the fire has been knocked down? Just a few questions for the critique portion. I would defer inspections for a month and do nothing but live fire training at their million dollar facility. Jus sayin.
@@juanrivera1143 I am a civilian looking at getting into the fire service so I could be wrong here, but it seems a bit stupid that some of these dudes are pulling the garage door down without being on air. I would think they would be at a very high risk for inhaling cancer causing particles.
@@dylananderson4722 First I would hope that you find a department to give you the opportunity to fulfill your dream bud. It is a GREAT job!!! Your Exactly right on those members not on air. Cancer in the fire service is at an all-time high due to the products of combustion in the newer materials AND common sense mistakes like this. You will move up the ranks quickly if you don’t do anything that you saw on this video. Good luck on your fu Ute endeavors Dylan.
@@juanrivera1143 retired here , but what are you thoughts on the effectiveness of a piercing nozzle through the garage door to buy some time while stretching --- talking a about a quick one man operation (we had a piercing nozzle with a 100 ft in a bundle in a compartment ) so pretty quick deployment. Wasted effort vs results ?
I'm not eager to bash my brothers and sisters in the fire service but this video genuinely is difficult for me to watch. The actions in this video consistently went against everything I've been taught as a fireman, as well as showing very little understanding of fire dynamics. I hope they take the opportunity to learn from this and move forward in a positive direction.
Why the hell would it take so long to get hoses started upon arrival. These firefighters looked like they were in no hurry and the time delay caused that fire to spread much more than was necessary. This department should be investigated....
Why are you giving the fire an unobstructed access to more air? You can clearly see that every time they open it up, the smoke intensifies. They did it not only once, but two times! Here is the kicker....on the first cut, one firefighter starts a triangular but while the other starts a straight line vertical cut on the other side! Not sure what the logic was with this. I am not an expert but this seems to fall short of professional firefighting.
Would agree with previous comments, clearly, the lack of oxygen was holding back the fire, so surely before cutting open the garage door you would make sure that water was charged and available at the hose before proceeding.?
@@frankbudelman7113 yep --the main purpose of a tepee cut is to spread the load on a bearing wall , sadly a lot of the fire service have no actual knowledge of the whys
Yes, it's very sad to note the non-chalance as well as the non-professionalist of the firefighters. 😤 But we all have to agree on this one, that we have to applause 👏 the way this house was built and the fantastic fireproof construction of the garage ceiling and walls. Without that, it's for sure this beautiful home will be good for demolition.
@@jimlahey5733 Do you spray water at a fire scene? I don't think the opposite of lethargic is run. It means get the lead out, pick up the pace, hustle, quick step, double time. However, Sootlickers always have an excuse for protecting the thin red line.
@@jimlahey5733 no you don't run at a fire scene but you also don't walk like you have no shits to give about this person's property. And I am a firefighter.
I think the guys that came to my fire could give these guys a crawl for their money and the Chief at my fire actually got caught standing in a loop of hose and when they pulled the hose he went down. I always thought firefighters rushed . They rush like a herd of turtles. I will blame that on the suits and if its hot I can imagine you can energy drain quickly The guys I had had no training , they used the building later for training .
That is unacceptable that they cut open the garage and didn't have one dame fire hose ready. What a damn joke. I hate to be that guy but this is the absolute worst attempt at putting out a fire I've ever seen.
@@mikehanratty4300 I did watch the video. The door was opened at 8:18 and water was put on the fire at 8:25. Having a charged line is worthless if there isn't wet stuff coming out of the nozzle. He then sprays for 14 seconds and stops the water. He leaves and goes to the other side of the garage and sprays for 4 seconds before turning off the water again. If YOU watched the video you will see that in the 2 minutes AFTER the door is removed water is applied for about 30 seconds. Then why remove the second door before a line is ready. I seem to remember something about heat, combustibles and AIR making a fire grow in intensity.
Holy crap! The key to extinguishing a fire is to hit it fast. These guys were not ready and were doing air packs on the lawn, and notice the f.f. assembling the hose on the lawn. He did not even have a nozzle on the hose! Every first in truck should be set up for fast attack. I.e. firefighters get ready in the truck while proceeding to the fire scene. Each truck has a short line and a long line prepared in the rack to pull, fake out, and charge. The driver operates the pump and charges the preselected lines. Ross, Training Captain, PGVFD. In Broken Arrows coverage area, the homeowner who expects to minimize fire damage better have garden hoses ready to go on each side of his homes, and really loud fire detectors with an outside siren!
Yep, being on damage control in the Navy, you wait until the lines are in place .1 foam, 1 water and. 3rd is a "fogger line " to keep the front line guys cooled down ...ship fuel burns freak'n hot
@@richardyork9495 I am not exactly sure what you are talking about? Both garage doors were closed, the fire department cut them with k12 saws and were not prepared with hose lines. What are you referring to?
Good footage. Hope the home owners moved out of that fire district! Pathetic response. Clearly disorganized with no one in charge. I found the problem! 3 Chrysler vehicles.
Not knocking this fire department, but this just shows that practicing to fight a fire should never happen on scene. Be it a vehicle accident, or other type of incident. Definitely something to learn from here is venting, and making sure you have lines charged ready to go when you need it most. This fire wasn’t a practice run at your local burn building used for training. This house could of had a lot less damage if you move quickly, safely yes but diligently. Timing is everything, and some of the tactics used like taking the garage door as a whole, perhaps if you can get to the release you could of maybe pushed the garage door up. Kind of like going to a vehicle accident always try before you pry.
@@kevinjones6577 Venting a fire will only increase it's intensity by feeding it more oxygen. The reason the house wasn't fully engulfed is because it remained sealed until they had to gain entry. Having a line charged prior to knowing what your exact attack angle is going to be is also never a good idea, You would need about 6 guys to wrangle a charged line into position vs. 3 for an uncharged one. You wouldn't think so, but there's a tremendous amount of pressure built up in those things!
That is a good thing to think of. Of course the person I need to ask about "of" and "have" is not here. Of all the things to think of....I don't think either is wrong. Kevin Jones are you in TX ? Lol that's my husband's brothers name. Don't forget that a horse is a horse of course of course.🐴
I've seen some pretty bad operations in my 40 years as a firefighter, both career and volunteer and served from Probie to Chief of the Department and this scene would rate in the top 10 of clusterfucks I've seen! And I'll admit that I've caused a few clusterfucks myself, but did learn valuable lessons from them and used my mistakes to teach others what not to do.
Having read pretty much all the comments and having done damage control/ fire fighting in the Navy as well as being a volunteer fireman ..I agree there was a lot of things that should have been done that were not 🤔 1st being the garage door .
I see 9 min with water on it that is not to bad from arrival to cutting the door down and getting water on it in 9 min and did it safely with nobody getting hurt yes that is AMAZING
@@RLTtizMEa firefighter wouldn’t have gone in the front door. They would have taken the line to the fire where it belongs which is in the garage. There’s a self closing fire rated door between the garage and the house protecting the interior. Open up the garage and put the fire out. That’s what a firefighter would do. This was an absolute mess.
Painful to watch the lack of training, the lack of sense of urgency and the lack of sensitivity to the damage that someone's physical integrity or someone else's property was suffering. It is unfortunate that our life has to be entrusted to "teams" like this.
The lack of urgency was because the fire fighter new their where no lives in danger. At that point it becomes contain and put the fire out No need to risk more lives the house was a total loss befor the first truck Arrived
@@robertusa1234nice try!!! These people let the house burn when in fact, if they had attacked the fire correctly, it could have quickly been put out!!! Seriously, how the hell can anyone stick up for that kind of incompetence??!?? Wtf!?!
In the first 3 minutes of this video , all I can think is that " they sure are taking their sweet time about confronting this fire and putting any real of water down!"
Responded to a fire much like this one, years ago. Everything worked in our favor. Hydrant was located just 3 houses down. Combination department and had several extra personnel at the station at receipt of alarm. Attacked fire from inside out, with immediate effective positive ventilation. Fire auto ventilated out a garage door, as aluminum panels fell away as we were attacking. Garage very crowded, as most are. That was probably the 2nd hottest fire I had been in. We quickly realized the door between living area & garage was open. Firefighter quickly entered & closed door, as we were pulling lines, and setting up for attack. Got a knock down on it, but one of the vehicles had lit up, which is a HUGE amount of BTU`s in a confined space.
Fire personnel can make all kinds of excuses on their response, but videos shows horrible urgency on attacking efforts. Fire was still controllable, but no one was the least bit visibility worried !
That was absolutely the proper approach. Always consider there is a car on fire in a garage or heavy fuel load. Ventilation is a must and direct application of water. Looks like these guys were over sold on CAFS abilities and neglected backup lines as well as urgency.
A FF for 42 years was a little confused why it took so long to at least have three handlines in service. At about 13 mins they deploy 2.5" smoothbore but tool almost 2 mins to get it charged. The garage door provided some frustration. The FF on the ladder pushing line into second floor is a beast. Was interior initially and ready to stay engaged ! Most importantly I hope everyone was safe!
I love all fire fighters and appreciate their dedication. . Watching this video and counting over 3 minutes until water was utlized? The Germans have the Striker 4×4, w made by Oshkosh. The Striker 4×4 offers “innovative fire suppression. The moment the Striker fire truck arrives it can dispense fire suppressants without having to get out of the vehicle. Im agreeng with the other comments. The lack of urgency is absolutely heartbreaking for these homeowners to watch. This was painful to watch. Old dude with the garden hose took down more flames than ladder company 6 and 8 combined. Shocked at what I saw. What I can see the most is the very little will and empathy to promptly attend to the fire
Hope the FD will use this video as a training aid and not take it too personal. A lot of Monday morning QBing going on but to the casual viewer, this seems to be the worst example of firefighting. I am still pondering why one firefighter was cutting a Christmas tree out of the door while the other was cutting a square opening. Did not see much real communication going on at the start of this and even several occasions looks as though ego's or I am better then you mentalities in play. Hope the homeowners come out okay at the end of the day.
Cutting a triangle is quicker to get open and get water on the fire and keeping the door stable. Cutting a rectangle is for complete removal of the door but takes longer, and its more dangerous holding the saw over your head. You could also do one vertical cut top to bottom to simulate a swing door but you must cut it completely or it won't work.
More Monday morning quarterbacking here, but I've never seen a more lethargic initial attack in my entire life, and I spent twenty years in a combination paid/volunteer department. Giving credit where it's due though, they did save the structure...oh, it was brick wasn't it. I have no doubt that Broken Arrow is a good department, but their initial attack just looked lazy.
Never seen a more lethargic attack? Really? This is the normal way the union guys everywhere do it, it's rare to see any of them move any faster. I have many friends that do this in Miami and they take extreme pride in how slowly they get to a fire, they tell all the new guys to slow it down, the fire will be there when we get there, it's not going away, take your time. I hate that shit, I've lost a house to fire and the station was less than a mile away but they took so much time to get there and then they do this walk around slowly crap, putting on there gear like they could never put the gear on before the get to the fire, they wait to make sure it's a really big fire before they get suited up. I know plenty do great work, we all know that, but for the most part, they are way to slow to get to the fire and start putting water on it. I've been around small volunteer firefighters that do a much better job at moving at a pace like they really want to save the building and the stuff in it and next to it. Probably because in small towns, everyone knows them so if they do good, they will be thanked forever and if they are slow like in the big cities, they will know that too. You can watch 100 or more videos on youtube and you won't see 10 where the firefighters look like they give a shit about saving buildings from burning. Go ahead and look, it's all the same. These guys don't even keep their saws in good working order. They should always start on the second pull, I have many of those saws and mine all start, second pull. It's not like they don't have tons of time in a week to check out the equipment. I think in some sick way, a few guys don't want to put out a good fire too soon, they like the big ones.
i agree, and ventilation is supposed to go hand in hand with suppression, NOT after the fire is knocked down. vent above the garage with interior attack and the right side exposure would not have been at risk.
It looks like the left saw was still spinning when he pit it down after the second garage door was cut, and they were just casually walking around...woof.
The fire thanks you for giving it so much of what it needed! Between propping the front door open and removing the garage doors you might as well have put a fan on it too. Yikes!
That's because you can't see visible flames when there's that much smoke they didn't know where the fire was exactly.... If you notice they determined where the flames were coming from so they tore down that single garage door... They did it pretty much by the book
If you are going to take the garage doors TAKE THE DAMN GARAGE DOORS. Don't leave them hanging there for someone to get caught on or fall over or rip a handline
@@SHFDRescuemedic I was also amazed by this. And then the door just hangs there. One dude comes in to take it away. A second one thinks: yeah let’s take the door away! Oh wait that looks heavy, let’s pretend I didn’t see that and walk the other way again. Pffff really.. and where is the water when you open the door.. or why do they need to get dressed on the lawn still, before going in… let’s hope they change for the better, or at least get some command structure in place that works.. tell these poor folks what they need to do…
"The Keystone Fire Brigade"? As a "professional" fireman in London, England for many years, I can honestly say that this bunch are hopeless. Slow, slapdash and clueless. Thank goodness I'll never have to rely on this bunch to save me or my property.
In my local, I have seen firefighters have trained running and jogging all the times. If there are evaluation about their jobs, I am afraid they could get below 7 out of 10.
I don't know what you guys call it but in Sweden we use a high pressure cold cut. It would shoot through that garagedoor like nothing and the fire would be out in the matter of minutes.
Dude , they know the whole place has to be gutted the first few minutes on arrival, there’s no need to spaz out and rush things, it’s not like they’re going to save anything
You can see at 5:10 the fire is in the garage and is starting to be starved for oxygen, you can see how the smoke comes out, then is immediately sucked back in. Need to have at least 2 lines ready at the door, them either lift the door, it if it's stuck, have 2 guys with k12s at each end. They both make vertical cuts up, the center section falls down, opening the hole and have the 2 hose teams knock down the fire. Then check for extension and hot spots. Mop up and go home. Edit: at 5:45, whoever is in charge of maintenance, should be shot! That engine should have started in 2-3 pulls. I maintain our power units on our Hurst tools, and we've started them in 10 degree weather with no more than 3 pulls
perfect assessment..even more efficient, a decent sized hole saw bore through the middle of the door..less than 3 secs..you could have x2 bore holes cut twice the diameter of the hose in half the time it took them to even start that circ saw...that door alu is paper thin....astonishing...i genuinely thought it was a training video...sad ..this is the result of taking the vaccx probably..
My niece and her husband live in a newer home. It was struck by lightning. Caused a fire between the roof and ceiling. It went through the electrical system and ruined some but not all of their appliances. They heard the sound and felt the lightening hit. But at first did not realize it had actually hit their house. They both very young. It only took them about five minutes to realize their home had been hit by lightning, and they smelled smoke. But it took them a full fifteen to twenty minutes to understand their house was on fire , and then they called 911. And evacuated their animals and went outside. Very rapid fire department response. They broke a hole into the roof and were able to get the fire out pretty rapidly. Later they found a hole where the lightening hit the floor of upstairs spare bedroom, went through downstairs into living room and put a hole into the carpet. Right now they are living in a small travel trailer. They are supposed to be able to move back in their home by end of December. This happened in August. A real blessing no one was hurt and that the fire department reacted so quickly that their home was saved. They are building a new roof and support structure, ceiling in the one bedroom. And carpets that were water damaged and some smoke damage. They did an excellent job.
This goes to show that being a career fire fighter is no different from being volunteer, you have people that suck and people that are good on both sides
Every RUclips video you watch of American firefighters, they are slow, lazy and unprofessional. It seems that all of the US's EMS are this way, from cops to the ambulance. I guess in Europe, they all get 4 year degrees. In the USA, 6 months of training is considered good enough
Hate Monday morning and arm chair quarterbacks as much as the next guy but this was hard to watch. It would have been appropriate to play the Benny Hill theme song over this video.
I'm right there with you. From the outside looking in and not knowing what the crews faced on the interior, it seemed like a lot of time fiddle farting around. From this perspective, 4 minutes passed by without any signs of transition.

In all honesty aren’t they trying to NOT introduce carcinogens into their firehouse that’s why you see gigantic exhaust vacuums on the exhaust pipe so when they fire the apparatus up the exhaust goes through the vac line to a vent at the top of the firehouse and away from the building altogether reducing the possibility of a person contracting cancer

14 minutes to get a second line charged? poor tactics, opening up garage doors without charged lines ready, roof wasn't vented, nozzle man on the ladder..filling the second floor pool? The term 'Broken Arrow' means imminent destruction...
Where was the urgency from these firefighters, a total lack of organisation, the two cutting their way into the garage didn't know what the he'll they were doing, I watch a video of UK firefighters tackling a house fire today and the difference between them and the American firefighters was so professional and organised highly trained UK men.
Possibly we've forgotten already! They could be new recruits with lack of training after many people refused to take 'the thing in the arm' and were either sacked or resigned. It's been happening in all professions since!!!!! Can expect more disasters now and into the future. Just an opinion!
Damn they're not standing there holding the hose for no reason. They gave the signal how many times to turn on the water. I guess the person at the truck was too fascinated by all of the buttons and levers to be paying attention. Other than that great video.
Apparatus placement, the pump operator should have turned the pump panel side of the apparatus toward the house. That way he can see all that was going on.

Just to answer a few frequently asked questions.

Oh, my God, I can't even finish watching this. This breaks my heart. Them guys are so slow I don't think they know what they are doing
Their firefighting skills are like something out of the three stooges.

An absolute shambles from start to finish my heart goes out to the home owners
If They Could Sue They Should
Absolute shambles? How? They did a fantastic job. Garage fires are a pain in the ass to get water on quickly compared to a regular structure. Yes, looks like there was a com issue trying to get the second line charged and that delayed them a bit. Other than that, they did a good job. Great teamwork, and they knocked it out.
Let's break it down
A: When arriving on scene, there no visible flames, only heavy smoke coming from the garage doors.
Looks like it was fine to me shut up

Fire was still controllable, but no one was the least bit visibility worried

The FF on the ladder pushing line into second floor is a beast. Was interior initially and ready to stay engaged !
Most importantly I hope everyone was safe!
Great video to show how not to fight a fire.
"Crews acted quickly to extinguish the fire and limit the spread to the rest of the house" Really? Great description of another video....
That part of the description was the fire departments official statement.
@@FireAlley
Well... They were wrong...
@@FireAlley But that's what they always say so you can never believe them. You have to think for yourself. Firefighting is not hard at all.
@@FireAlley i know, dont worry. Its just that they didnt do anything to stop the fire spread, so the comment isnt very happy
Are they talking about a crew that wasn't in the video?
Holy cow, what happens when something really serious happens? I hope they get this figured out and fixed
It’s known as “ all the gear but no idea”
And poorly trained, poorly commanded. This is a lets not do that again guys video I hope.
Look at the time on the video they literally took 3 minutes to go interior. No some jolly volley dept.
Wood framed, brick veneer.
Come on guys, let's move with a purpose for crying out loud.
From the time they arrive,to the time they enter home was 2:45 seconds….so your point is pretty lame…but your the professional 😂😂😂
A fire can be contained in 2 mins
@@richardyork9495 yeah and in 10.00 minutes they F:ed the whole house up... "Great job, guys! 😁👍"
If it was one of thier house Firefighters from 7 counties would be on scene.
@@raybarrebel4355 that wouldn't help 🤣
It looks like the left saw was still spinning when he pit it down after the second garage door was cut, and they were just casually walking around...woof.
The fire thanks you for giving it so much of what it needed! Between propping the front door open and removing the garage doors you might as well have put a fan on it too. Yikes!
Hahahhaah
Lol
I thought the same thing. Why open the garage doors. It's light fuel to the fire.
To put it the fire? Get the hose inside? "Oh yes, let's fight a fire by not opening ANY doors" 🙄
@@OkieOtaku Surely a small hole and shove the hose in ??
I remember watching this video before and thinking that fire department should be held accountable for that fire
Why were they not prepared with the second hose when the second garage door was cut down? Seems like they should have had that ready.
It was actually Hose #3 but you are correct in spotting this costly delay, expecially when visible flames are supposed to be priority ,
That's because you can't see visible flames when there's that much smoke they didn't know where the fire was exactly.... If you notice they determined where the flames were coming from so they tore down that single garage door... They did it pretty much by the book
Luck was on their side with this fire.
@@Pinkielover If you have heavy smoke coming from a closed door you better have a charged hose before you open it.
I'm sure what book did you read
Because are idiots!
That fire truck and engine are REALLY nice though…
They don't even look like they know what their doing so sad for homeowners
Fire behavior is a science, should be taught in all entry level firefighting courses. Read the smoke.
Amen to that
Exactly
Read the smoke indeed! Very dark, garage, plenty of unburned hydrocarbons in that plume, solid. Pucker factor waiting for it to flash!
Yes they do
I been a fire fighter for 47 years for Abbeville sc station 1 Abbeville county
If you are going to take the garage doors TAKE THE DAMN GARAGE DOORS. Don't leave them hanging there for someone to get caught on or fall over or rip a handline
I like the way the ff on the left is completing his cut on the main garage door and the guy cutting across the top kicks him, twice. Sad
It’s incredible how easy they take it. They should do more training....
In my local, I have seen firefighters have trained running and jogging all the times. If there are evaluation about their jobs, I am afraid they could get below 7 out of 10.
They make moar damage fhan The fire 🔥
Public servants some are good most not so good
I don't know what you guys call it but in Sweden we use a high pressure cold cut. It would shoot through that garagedoor like nothing and the fire would be out in the matter of minutes.
Dangerous handling of the saw as well. A guy without protective gear starting up a saw and then twice somebody gets almost hit by it.
Plus he drop started it
And upped the hazards with sharp metal left semi-removed! Right unacceptable IMHO
This fire department must have a share in a fire restoration business
Maybe. There's plenty of career firefighters with side businesses out there.
Dude , they know the whole place has to be gutted the first few minutes on arrival, there’s no need to spaz out and rush things, it’s not like they’re going to save anything
can't believe they're only using one hose! I guess if they don't put it out today they can put it out tomorrow!
🤣
Great video for "What not to do on a first in response." Too many safety and attack issues to list. Embarrassing for the department.
Actually in EVERY occupation
Every RUclips video you watch of American firefighters, they are slow, lazy and unprofessional. It seems that all of the US's EMS are this way, from cops to the ambulance. I guess in Europe, they all get 4 year degrees. In the USA, 6 months of training is considered good enough
@@chaosXP3RT what? All I heard was blah blah blah blah blah.

I'm right there with you. From the outside looking in and not knowing what the crews faced on the interior, it seemed like a lot of time fiddle farting around. From this perspective, 4 minutes passed by without any signs of transition.
Why do you hate MNCs if what they say makes sense? You don't believe a person is a professional just because they Joined Up, Dressed Up and Showed Up, do you?
@@brianwilson8119 No smoke coming out the front door and the fire clearly in the garage dictates, put water in the garage to stop the threat to the house and then go in. That garage was a pressurized fire bomb. What do you think would have happened when they opened the kitchen door into the garage?
@@JB91710 no I don't. There's more than one way to skin a cat but the things you say don't even make sense, especially if you actually had any real experience. @@WhiteNoise493 Now see? Like all the other ignorant children who respond to my firefighting evaluations, you couldn't tell me where and HOW I am wrong. The JOB of a fire department is to "Eliminate the threat quickly and safely while using the least amount of water." How did these guys accomplish that by ignoring the fire in the garage that was Threatening the house by going INSIDE the house (Not very safe) to supposedly fight the fire they just walked past?
Somebody please turn the water on!.
When the captains helmet fell off….😂😂😂 what a farcical display of firefighting. Guys cutting the garage door with no gloves on and no SCBA. I was waiting for the smoke to ignite and ruin their day. And yet fire unions are fighting to get cancer recognized as an occupational illness, when the firefighters themselves aren’t taking the most basic of precautions. Look at the state of the guys helmet working in the roof at the end, absolutely honking with soot etc. pathetic.
REALLY need to critique this one ! Working structure fire , you should think about picking up a hydrant on the way in.

Them firefighters definitely need to have more training on structural fires and work on it better than they do in the video
14 minutes to get a second line charged? poor tactics, opening up garage doors without charged lines ready, roof wasn't vented, nozzle man on the ladder..filling the second floor pool? The term 'Broken Arrow' means imminent destruction...

Just because your a ISO 1 doesn’t mean your a great fire department. Just means you have personal, training hours, equipment, water supply.
Didn’t see a great amount of water put on the fire in a timely manner don’t provide oxygen without a charged line
Exactly, ISO rating is 40% based on water supply, why didn't the engine bring it, and where the hell is it? Certainly not in that 60 psi 1 3/4 line!
Sadly, ISO is only a measure of Doing A JOB Consistently... Meaning They approach each fire the same way, wait til we see flames to throw water on it!
I agree with all the comments about so many things they did wrong and I feel sorry for the home owner who has to watch this circus ..
Where was the urgency from these firefighters, a total lack of organisation, the two cutting their way into the garage didn't know what the he'll they were doing, I watch a video of UK firefighters tackling a house fire today and the difference between them and the American firefighters was so professional and organised highly trained UK men.
Nobody gives a hoot about how great your UK firefighters, seriously.
If it could go wrong, it did. Training is a thing of beauty.
Possibly we've forgotten already!
They could be new recruits with lack of training after many people refused to take 'the thing in the arm' and were either sacked or resigned. It's been happening in all professions since!!!!!
