It amazes me how often you see crews wearing scba standing in the smoke and gasses and not having their mask on! Also there seems to be a hell of a lot of cables going to those houses and where do the appliances park?
Hello tornadocjaser66, great video shots in all angles. Just wondering if you recorded a near miss, it looked like two FF were coming out from underneath the basement window? This is a good training footage to use in smoke signals and egress and in many other aspects. Great recording job!
Paterson FD is superb, they are operating in a really tough environment. I do some home inspections in Paterson, that place is full of 1890s - 1920s construction. Balloon frame, ridiculously tight exposures, and 100 year old knob & tube wiring everywhere.
When a room fire is that severe, I wonder if it would help to have a line in the attic to put water down the wall from the attic above the fire room to stop the fire in the wall from spreading up? Happens so often in balloon frame houses. When was balloon frame construction stopped? In my city of mikwaukee, many of those too...
This was chaos from the start of the video. Sometimes fire just doesn’t want to go out, we’ve all been there. Strong work Patterson, you guys seem legit.
Awesome Knock down on a fire that was not gonna be easy 2 knock down and great job on the camera Tornado chaser one of the best iv seen yet Keep it up well done..
Around the beginning it sounds like there was an evacuation ringdown, with all the horns blowing at once. I'm guessing there was an inside attack in progress that got pulled early.
Much better than the other channels coverage of this fire! Kudos, my friend, KUDOS! This looked like a tough one and the Paterson FD did a wonderful job! 🚒 🐯
+KB91710 - Are you a FF, sir? Or are you another loudmouthed armchair wanna be? Who are you calling a "civilian? Worship the uniform? I'll have you know that after academy training, I spent the next nearly 20 years serving my community as a FF before retiring! If you ARE a FF, then you, sir, are an insult to the rest of our brothers across this fair nation! 🚒 🐯
BearPaw, JB is a sour old man, who was a volunteer for 10 years in the 1960's and 70's. He hates firefighters. We are lazy, stupid, uncaring and inept. Nothing that any department does is the 'right way'. He likes to use the number 95%....as in 95% of firefighters are stupid, etc. He says that the fire service does not attract intelligent people. And on and on. I have tangled with him for the last time. Don't waste your time with him. He isn't worth it. Cheers from Texas, 29 years service, retired. And thank you for your service.
Anthony Carter I'm a civilian, but i believe those are like personal locator beacons. If a FF doesn't move for a while, those things start screaming so his brothers can locate him. Everybody, please! Don't be hating on me, I am just a civie trying to answer a question.
They are like miniature alarms that activate to show (or I guess 'sound') where a fallen firefighter might be. In this case it looks like the firefighter hasn't turned it off.
The whistle sound you're hearing is from coming from the fire fighters air tanks (SCBA) It's actually an emergency alarm to locate downed fire fighters. When a fire fighter stands still for a certain amount of time the alarm sounds and that's what you're hearing at the scene of this fire.
I was thinking the same thing... I know little to nothing about fire fighting outside of working Forrest and Brush fires, but I said to myself... Damn this fires aggressive! @Tornadochaser... like he said great footage... I love watching your videos... You know how to hold a camera steady... And you dont wonder off filming clouds, or birds like to many people like to do....lol
tough tough tough..that whole structure was already crawling with fire in the walls before the first engine arrived... plaster and lath, balloon construction, every stud cavity is a fire-tube. get a knock on a room but still surrounded by fire.. save exposures surround and drown!
Another great catch Chaser. I see you didn't want to miss a second of the action as you ran down the block filming on the run. These Paterson fire fighters worked their butts off in order to hold this to a second alarm with no extension to the exposures.
Pour family any news on the residence of the house please tell me nobody was injured 🤕 hope everyone made it out alive, firefighters save lives and we need more people like them guys, great recording well done!
It's an ominous sign when you arrive on scene and the evacuation tones are dropping great video thanks for sharing this
Are they using the Tower Ladder for Air Recon, or fight the fire!!
Good job superheroes plz wear ur BA stay safe great vid 👍
Thanks
Not a good idea being on that platform without breathing apparatus
wow..that fire was waterproof...
That dramatic action in the first minute ... was that an evac from a basement search/rescue attempt? Cutting it close, whatever it was!
This reminds me of the nursery story about 3 little pigs 🐖. Why build a wood 🪵 house 🏠 and wrap it in plastic???
What are the tags hanging off the rear of the officers helmet for ?
This is like 2 blocks from where I grew up
It looks like this was one stubborn fire, any ideas on what caused it and was the home occupied?
Why are all these fire videos always in New York and New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We never see any out west
Thank you Paterson N J Fire
dam that is one stubborn fire I suspect balloon construction with how fast it got to the attic
Jay Smith Very common in the north east. Second line should go to the attic, if possible.
Was a beautiful house...
It amazes me how often you see crews wearing scba standing in the smoke and gasses and not having their mask on!
Also there seems to be a hell of a lot of cables going to those houses and where do the appliances park?
Nach 10 Sekunden "Wasser Halt", um Wasser zu sparen und dem Feuer wieder eine Change zu geben
Took a long time for water placement, but i do understand safety comes first for my brothers. Surround and drown!!!
why is there a thin ass stream of water going on the house
Excellent work Tornadochaser66 ,excellent work indeed
Thank you Robert

Thanks pal, i believe they bailed out the 1st floor window.
How sad......this house is totaled.
No working smoke alarms?
I think that's Satan's house
The fire that wouldn’t die! Great name for a movie.
At least in this case the houses are more that two feet apart and the chance of three of them burning is much less. Good job FD.
Fantastic job ! Thanks for this !
Thanks amigo!

That Would Piss Me Off ,You Think You Have The Fire Out Only For It To Spread To The Attic !!
what was the cause of the fire?
When a room fire is that severe, I wonder if it would help to have a line in the attic to put water down the wall from the attic above the fire room to stop the fire in the wall from spreading up? Happens so often in balloon frame houses. When was balloon frame construction stopped? In my city of mikwaukee, many of those too...
Good job on that one! Sometimes you just can't win for losing no matter how hard you try! I know it sucks but shit happens!!!
Take Care off your Fire members by heavy smoke conditons!Plaese
Geez ! what a fire even firefighter escorting to back road
Sad for occupants...but good fire.Good knock down on this ballonframe.
🚒🙏❤️💪
This was chaos from the start of the video. Sometimes fire just doesn’t want to go out, we’ve all been there. Strong work Patterson, you guys seem legit.
it's funny ! A fireman has the same name as that of my mother (her maiden name), a large Italian family disperse
Can be a cousin?
Eric from France
What is that whistle I keep hearing in all of these fire videos?
Awesome Knock down on a fire that was not gonna be easy 2 knock down and great job on the camera Tornado chaser one of the best iv seen yet Keep it up well done..
Yes they did a great job! And thank you pal!!
not 2 mention that fire was smoky dirty fire more smoke then fire
Nice to know that someone knows what a Mastersteam is for!
Ridiculous. Wow. That fire should have been knocked down and contained on the first floor.
That's a lot of power lines going to one house.
A strictly defensive knockdown
What does the horn blown by a fire engine not running convey?
Evacuate immediately!
Around the beginning it sounds like there was an evacuation ringdown, with all the horns blowing at once. I'm guessing there was an inside attack in progress that got pulled early.
If you watch carefully I believe you will see a fireman bail out B side corner window
Seems to me fire. Hot inside the kitchen
Jim kaine.. he has it. But not using it
Balloon framing? Looks like.
Paterson Fire Is One of The Greatest Fire Departments. Enough with the Monday morning Quarterbacks!!
Excellent video coverage....steady shots all the way! Nice!
Thanks!👍
Do you use a scanner or fire radio on the fireground?
Scanner Uniden BCD436hp
Very well done video ,can I use it on our fire school face book page NCIFTS non profit out of Vermont ??
Sure you can embed it on you FB Page! Please mention my RUclips channel tornadochaser66 Thanks!

great video, new to these , can someibe please advise on what the whistle sound is. Thank you.

Anthony Carter also, the cacophony (great word) of air horns is the "evacuate" signal. As in "Get your ass out NOW!!

Tough fire!
A Good Job !
That's one pissed off burn. Getting into the attic as quickly as it did, tough fire to knock down defensively. Nice clean footage.
Thanks!

It was great knockdown kudos to the Paterson,NY Fire Department for a job well done
NJ
tough tough tough..that whole structure was already crawling with fire in the walls before the first engine arrived... plaster and lath, balloon construction, every stud cavity is a fire-tube. get a knock on a room but still surrounded by fire.. save exposures surround and drown!
never stop spraying, don't talk too much....
Already in the attic, ran the walls b4 they ever turned a wheel to respond
