      Ben Weber Thanks for responding Ben. I enjoy watching firefighters do their job - and I DO NOT have any firefighting knowledge.
      WATER DOES seem to douse flames, and It's just frustrating to see flames raging away with no water being directed at that spot.

    • @benweber5186
      @benweber5186 5 лет назад

      Bill Collins ; from watching the video, I would imagine that man power was an issue to begin with, so you take care of the most pressing issues , which, in this case would be keeping the other two houses from catching on fire. As more units arrive, they finally have the manpower to start putting the main fire out as opposed to just containing it to the original structure (. #1 priority). There’s a LOT of bad firefighting videos out there, in my opinion, this is not one of them.

    • @123Puke
      @123Puke 5 лет назад +1

      Ben Weber Enjoyed and understood your answers. I’m just a retired old fart that enjoys fire videos. Guess I always wished I could have been a volunteer FF in my younger days, but my type of job didn’t make that possible.

      Also, if you look closely, there are wires down at the front of the structure. One appears to laying across the font, metal fence. That adds to complexity of the situation.

      I'm from The Netherlands and we have either forests or houses ;-). Why are houses of brick and concrete? Because of our rivers we have an ample supply of clay to make bricks.And with respect to houses becoming a total loss after a fire, on rare occasions. Yes, the contents of the house can be a total loss but the structure usually stays intact.

    Everybody have to run, the first moments are very important.

    • @benweber5186
      @benweber5186 5 лет назад +1

      Sjaak De Winter ; wrong. Being Deliberate and methodical , while gathering as much info as possible , in the first moments is very important. Running increases the chances of missing something important. And in this case, a fully involved house soon arrival, running would not change the outcome.

    • @steamandsmoke97
      @steamandsmoke97 5 лет назад

      Sure, run like the wind dude. Get yourself breathing so heavily that you'll drain a 45 minute tank in 10 minutes, trip over hose lines, and make a complete asshole of yourself on the fireground. Ever hear of size up? You have to come to grips with the situation at hand, yes, the first moments are important but running gets you no where. You need to know what the fire is doing, where it is, how fast it's moving, whether or not there is entrapment, where the fire can possibly go while you and/or your brothers are inside and having some idea of an escape route or point of egress, who you're teamed up with, and what your commanding officer is assigning you to do. All of these require being cool, calm, and collected. Yes you need to move with a purpose and act upon it swiftly, but you can't go flailing your arms and running around in circles either.

    • @adamlewandoski7144
      @adamlewandoski7144 5 лет назад

      Can always spot the keyboard fireman, hurry up run, I will save everyone and everything all by myself. Yes it is a burning structure but, first access the situation, is there people inside next whatever you might find out about the structure finally act. All the while the engines and ladders are being set up. Keep watching movies they will help to fuel your "expert observations" , not sure by the name if you are a man or woman, so I will say fellow human.

    • @aportman58
      @aportman58 4 года назад +1

      Running is no longer encouraged. Firefighters running number 1 expend excessive energy before ever even starting firefighting; running increases firefighter trips, falls, injuries; and has been proven that running doesn't speed up effective fire control and often actually has an opposite effect, slowing things down. Focused, purposeful, methodically organized movement is most effective on the fire-ground! Unless you've ever toted another 50 pounds on your body and expected to go into extremely hot structures to pull hose and fight fire you will never understand or get the need to manage exertion (respiratory, heart-rate, and exertion)!

    • @charlesrudish9147
      @charlesrudish9147 4 года назад

      Real firefighters are taught from the beginning to walk (with purpose). and not run. You have a lot of kit hanging off of your turnouts, which are heavy to begin with. Tripping and falling are an inherent problem to begin with, running makes it worse.

By the time you lot get sorted your knackered by carrying that around while running out hose so if your buddy is in need of help your to bloody worn out. Oh and the other thing .
