An 32 bhout hi tuff aircraft hai, bas old ho gaye hai... My father was technician in this aircraft in IAF.. Kuch baatein an 32 ki bhout hi zabardast hai.. Pin dropping, all weather use aur less Maintainance hai.. Aur russia uss samay ussr ne india ke liye hi yeh an 32 aircraft banye thye. ❤

Hope we reverse engineer these aircraft and make an indigenous transport aircraft. Relying on foreign transport aircraft completely might cause problems if so-called allied countries stop spare parts supply during war and would strangle us. Having indigenous transport aircraft would help to reduce dependency on imported transport aircraft upto a certain extent.
Very true... Russian aircrafts are always rugged and do not need super infrastructure... those European designs are with high maintenance and lavish airfields...

I was working with Airbus Defense and Space on this deal.. glad my team got successful negotiations to get this wonderful aircraft to our IAF since we have been studying Indian Air Force's requirements to fulfill the needs of multi role transport in smaller size and C295 perfectly fits.. now we are exploring avenues to present this aircraft for our Coast Guard for offshore patrol and Indian Navy for logistical support from Indian mainland to our naval base at Andaman and Nicobar.. let's see what happens..
Can india export it by TATA airbus JV to other country form of maritime / awacs/ grous servalance radar.

Versatile in terms of capabilities, can be best option to replace An-32, same platform can be used for Navy's propeller based maritime patrol with anti submarine capabilities as well. However, just in case if you are going by the looks 😉 C-27J Spartan looks better in similar twin prop category

C295 will replace An 32 from active duty. And An 32 will be used for the tasked with for now are being performed by HS748.
So it's an era of end for IAF transport history. HS 748 served IAF for quite a long time.
An 32 engines are faulty. Thats why IAF forced to purchase new aircraft. So there is high possibility that C295 may become standard by replacing An 32 completely.
And Do228 is being used for marine patrol craft by navy.

I don't know if you are watching the recent news as IAF and IAF Chief are solely focused on Tejas and AMCA. Yes it can take time but we will be more capable in future having our homegrown fighters in our fleet. + We are in talks to procure more 36 Rafale jets as well. + HAL is already working of Tejas MAX fighter jet. You are right that delays are there and we should have done all of this 1-2 decades ago but at that time there was no solid Political will and IAF and IN both were ignored.

Troop transprt, Cargo transport, AWACS platform, Maritime Patrol, SIGNIT, Aerial Refueller, Gunship etc....what more can you ask for from one aircraft....also now has winglets to save more fuel and has ability to land on rough runways as well which will prove beneficial along LAC for advanced landing grounds
Indian Air Force can also fullfill the requirements of AWACS and Mid Air Refuelling with the help of C-295. For these they don't have to buy other Aircrafts.

Such a misfortune that we still don't have our own cargo carrying transport aircraft even after being world's sixth biggest economy and 4th most powerful nation.
Both wings (airforce & army) need to learn from Navy how it promoted "indigenisation" and even after having smallest chunk of budget , managed resources efficiently
We need to reverse engineer An-32 or Il-38 aircraft and use it as a versatile platform (by reverse engineer I mean airframe and engines. We can make our avionics). Make An-32 into a 4-engine aircraft with it's upper wing design (don't know what the design is actually called) so that it doesn't look like it is copied :D, and then atleast place an order of minimum 20 aircraft for IAF. Then make ELINT, anti-submarine versions of it and if needed then AWACS version also (a radome can easily be mounted on it coz the smaller E-2 hawkeye has a radome with range of 550km+). These would make a strong base for indigenous transport aircraft and won't completely strangle us during war in case so-called allied nations refuse to send spare parts.

Hi Defence Matrix I have a question. Please try to answer it. For Small Lifting catagory, we are buying C295 to replace AVRO & AN32. For medium catagory we have Super Hercules, we can buy more of them as they are still in production. But what could be the replacement of Globe Master? As per my knowledge no country produce an aircraft of 60-80 ton carrying capacity. Globe Master's production had been shut and we need them in our airforce.
Those aircraft are going to stay in service for decades now, something will come up later.

Dude! 42.5 squadron is not a miracle number. It's just a number defined by parliament that IAF should/can use as fighters.

Indian army need an aircraft to carry light tank upto 25tonnes,should we not scrap plan to procure C295 and buy 45 Embraer KC-390 instead under Make in India also offering Brazil Tejas with tech transfer as Brazil wants to replace it's 80 F5 Tiger light attack fighters. What's your take on it?

How about try to enlarge bo228 to gain some experience in transport aircraft. TATA and Mahindra has aircraft manufacturing companies. With some help they can try to make a 20T class of turboprop plane. Also entire company of Embarar is on sale.

Wouldn't the C-27J spartan been a better option
For High and Hot yes, the C27J is rather over-engined for most jobs in order to provide enough grunt to manage short field and high altitude capability. It's a military performance focused plane, economy of operation and in-flight running costs are rather ignored in pursuit of pure capabilities. Fine if you have money to burn and budget to spare. Not so good when you have to make a little go a long way. It was developed originally for the Italians and their European Alps operations.
It's more effective for a nation with an eye on the costs to use the C295 for general duties and when better short field capability and high altitude operation is needed, send the C130 in.

It costs $2542 for each hour flown by the C27J
it costs $1750 for each hour flown by the C295
cheaper to run the C295, and for the hours flown, using the C295 + C130 mix means every 12 hours flown around low on the C295 you can fly an hour on the C130 to handle the high altitude jobs the C295 doesn't have the power to handle up in the mountains, all for the same money as the C27J alone.
Plus while India does have the Himalayas, the rest of the country isn't all that high and any jobs up there would likely be tasked to helicopters anyway since there's not a lot of airstrips or flat ground available in the Himalayas. It's not like Peru where the land climbs steeply from the Pacific coast up to a large flat Andean amazonian plateau to the east of the peaks.
Another missing point is high maintenance costs of those European design aircrafts.... another doubt, it's all weather performance and capabilities of use of unprepared airstrips .... Europeans have very less expouser for latest battlefields as compared to Americans or Russians or Indians ....
First India should Focus on refuler tanker 😓😓😓😓😓😓
