  • Canada’s dedicated search and rescue (SAR) crews regularly put their lives on the line, relying on aircraft to overcome the significant challenges presented by dangerous weather and terrain. ✈️
The requirements for Canadian SAR aircraft have been well-documented - from demanding mountain contour search, Arctic and North Atlantic storms, to extreme temperatures, icing and precipitation.
Airbus-built C295, which has been selected for the country’s Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue Program, is perfectly suited to these duties.
This video is an exclusive tour inside and outside the latest generation of this versatile aircraft that Canada just welcomed in their fleet.

The Canadian air force are already experienced problems with the aircraft, even before it officially enters service. There is a delay certifying the aircraft due to center of gravity issues as a result of modifications of the S &R version for Canada and problems with S&R paratroopers jumping from the back ramp. It seems when they tested it, paratrooper dummies were hitting the tail. The Canadian air force really wanted the C-27j is a superior aircraft. Far bigger cabin, more powerful engines, has an APU , flies faster and more robust design.

@@AirShark95 I agree with everything you said. Why the C-295 won over the C27 Spartan is because the C295 has Pratt & Whitney Canada engines and the C27 doesn't. If the govn't picked the C27 then people would be crying that they aren't supporting Canadian companies (P&WC) and with the C295 winning those same people say that the C27 is the better mission capable aircraft and bitch we didn't pick it. The obsession of Canadian politicians of hiring incompetent management has completely destroyed the aeronautical industry in our country, whether is for the benefit of other countries' industries or just plain stupidity is hard to tell. No one in the government has thought of hiring good enough management to bring the industry up without bailouts, which in the end goes to fill the pockets of those who make the bad decisions.

unbelievable performances of the landing gear!!! where did that come from??? do u mean to say the C295 has a sturdy landing gear??? anyway AIRBUS needs to reinforce the C295's front & rear landing gear & furthermore both the front & rear main (wheeled) landing gears needs to be longer & taller by 26%-30% at the very least, in the interest of better ground clearance & minimizing foreign object damage to the C295's fuselage under belly when operating from unpaved rough air strips!!! the C295 is a good well engineered medium-sized cargo aircraft, way better than the An-26!!!

If you're lost in the woods or stranded in a boat way out on one of the great lakes or far from shore in the Atlantic or Pacific regions, you're not going to care about the livery of the aircraft that has been sent to rescue you. You'll notice that the rescue aircraft is big, it's yellow and help is on the way.
