      @@jouniairplanevideos Sorry but how on earth is the A330 MRTT in any way inferior to the KC-46? You really want that boondoggle clusterfuck KC-46? It doesn't work as designed, cannot fuel via it Boom and when it did it damaged receiving aircraft. It has crap in the wings and tanks, has fuel leaks from those tanks and is unsafe for passengers and freight. Its 3 years late and $4 Bn over budget and won't be IOC until 2023.
      I thought you Dutch were a bit smarter.
      At least the MRTT works every time and it carries more fuel (111 Te to 96 Te) so it can loiter in theatre longer. Serving in 7 Air Forces with 60 delivered. No failures.

    • @jouniairplanevideos
      @jouniairplanevideos 4 года назад +1

      @@1chish the problems are not a good sign, we all know. But the KC46 is an better design. Its based on the 767F. That plane is in production for years, and already designed to its maximum. That means the airframe is cheaper to build so more money could be used for more modern and extra systems aboard. That's why the problems costs more. They build an KC46 for around 200 milion dollars including the new stuff. But you already tell Boeings problems. So unfortunally its costs are going up.
      An 330 costs 250 milion dollars with less performance. Such as less range, less freight capacity and some older technics even its new. Last but not least: its version is the wrong one. The 330F had to be used not the person version. We could say both failed, but in there own way. Airbus design, Boeing has problems with destiny. Boeing must always be the one with problems.
      Boeing can't be blamed for everything, some errors are supplier problems. Examples are batteries, engines, crashes with pilot error or weather problems, even there own staff that doesn't work according to the rules.
      The Boeing pleague could be the name.

    Just my 2 cents, if they had installed a main deck cargo door like it is on the A330F, it could have been an all rounder. It could have carried cargoes for humanitarian missons.

    the A330-900 Neo as a MPA with multi role ASW & EWS capability would make it a formidable asset against any adversary!!! the A330-900 Neo LR multi role MPA will have more capabilities than just an in-flight refueling tanker aircraft!!! speaking of capabilities the cargo interior of the A330-900 Neo LR can be fitted with a sizeable but state-of-the-art rotary missile launcher that can be lowered & retracted through a weapons bay door in the floor!!! the rotary missile launcher will be positioned in the middle section of the A330-900 Neo LR vast cargo hold for better weight distribution throughout the aircraft!!! the rotary launcher will be able to accommodate a variety of missiles ranging from Exocet AM39 anti-ship missiles & AGM-88G HARM-ER anti-radiation guided missile to STORM Shadow Advanced LR land attack cruise missiles & Meteor BVR air-to-air missiles (for self defense)!!! even heavy weight air launched torpedoes for that matter!!! all the A330-900 Neo LR needs is a new AESA target acquisition radar in the front nose of the aircraft & a side scan radar with terrain following feature built into either side of the aft lower fuselage section!!! the front half of the A330-900 Neo LR interior will be occupied by 5 work stations (in a tandem configuration, one behind the other) with dedicated technical crew operating the ASW & EWS system!!! yes, the A330-900 Neo will have a robust immediate threat analysis & countermeasure system comprising of radar & missile warning receiver in addition to an abundance of chaff & flare countermeasures that will be fired from a countermeasure dispenser retrofitted to both sides the rear fuselage section!!! needless to say that the A330-900 Neo LR will have mid air refueling capability from a B707-320B in-flight refueling tanker aircraft or the A330-900 Neo MMRT through an extendable drogue in the front starboard side forward of the cockpit instead of the A330-900 Neo MMRT rear under fuselage backward extending fixed drogue!!! to cope with the additional weight the A330-900 Neo LR MPA might require reinforced longer (taller) front & rear wheeled landing gear!!!

    Its really shameful what Boeing did to you guys on Airbus air tanker deal got walked back after we lost the contract. It is such a move of cowardicevand greed by Boeing. I wouldn't mind having variety in our USAF with quality aircraft from Airbus from a steadfast ally. Boeing is afraid of competition and they're lazy. And you're hearing this come from a Boeing employee.

      Even if they were not delivered on time it is still better for the delivery and actually compared to the Boeing similar project “Pegasus” that is facing problems after problems...to me doesn’t matter as it is yet the best solution the KC-35 even with the CFM-56 are really thirsty ! 😉

    • @camf7522
      @camf7522 4 года назад +2

      Skytrotter .. agree that the MRTT is awesome. The USAF and US government made a big mistake changing their tender decision from Airbus to Boeing for their tanker replacement project.
      I just wanted to highlight that the claim of on time delivery of all MRTTs to customers was on time was not entirely true, due to development and delivery delays for the RAAF’s aircraft. On time delivery may now be the case.

    • @1chish
      @1chish 4 года назад

      Well all 14 of the RAF's MRTTs were delivered on time and all in place by 2016. Ordered about the same time as the KC-46 was gifted the USAF contract.
      I think the first 3 Aussie ones were a year late but the other 4 were delivered OK.

    about these highly skilled employees English skills...
    In Germany - for obvious reasons - we are driven to be part of a "rat-race" of who gets to have the most authentic (or imagined) english/US accent. Theres reasons to why other countries are still resting much more within their own native culture.
    As a general rule I'd say the Spanish would love to speak better English but were in the past lacking the educational framework (chicken/hen dilemma) but will be getting there (thanks to the abundance of EN streaming content these days).
    The French could be much better but are sticking to the most horrible accents for whatever reasons (linguistic pride, general pissed-off-ness?!).
    Then you got the smaller nations of Northern Europe and the Dutch who've since the beginning of TV had original EN content and are therefore at a natural advantage (same has been true with Romania where I've enountered much better EN skills even in small towns compared to the Czech Republic...).
    Finally lets take some time to reflect on the inherent privilege native EN speakers bring to the table and are mostly oblivious to.I am fully immersed in EN in my life and am ok with that. I'm also not predicting or advocating for China to develope any kind of soft power/cultural admiration of the likes the UK and US has gotten in the time since WWII. I DO feel like we're at a weird "shit-our-parents-aren't-gods:/" type moment though with Brexit and the US unravelling politically and societally infront of our eyes.

      You fail to take into account language similarity. Spaniards are insanely good at speaking french for instance (for those who do). French doesn't have a tonic accent so it makes it hard for us to understand that concept in other languages, Dutch and English sound alike, etc...

    • @techdefined9420

      You forget that spanish is one of the most widely spoken language together with chinese and english.(more then 550million speaker) Spanish is a IATA oficial language. There is less reason for spanish people to learn english then in other countries like Germany.

    • @vaska00762

      MRTT is an unusual conversion process. There have to be additional, new structural elements added to the A330 airframe which don't normally exist on a civilian A330 and there's also the issue of putting in addition wiring and hydraulic lines, complete with redundancies, which might involve complete rewiring of certain areas of the aircraft.
      Let's not forget that these aircraft are also being converted from civilian airliners to military transports/tankers and as such need new systems installed, such as an IFF, different transponders, military radio systems, and depending on the order, possible EMP shielding (effectively installing Faraday Cages around vital equipment).
      An A330 airliner isn't meant to be able to survive being under fire in a theatre of war. An A330 MRTT does, and as such it's a lengthy and complicated process. Some components even get completely replaced with military spec components. Remember, these A330s aren't going to be airliners looking to make routes profitable, they're going to be military aircraft with a focus on being able to successfully complete sorties close to, or maybe even within a Theatre of War.

It's ridiculous. Even if you have to disassemble and then re-assemble the entire aircraft, it's just too long. Yes, a lot of work has to be done, but they are not designing it, they are bolting on existing components.
