- The excitement of planning your first Disney trip is quite literally overwhelming sometimes and with ALL of the things you need to plan ahead of time it can be pretty daunting. So to avoid having a miserable time at the most magical place on Earth I've come up with my top 10 things to avoid doing to give you a better chance at having that life changing vacation that you're dreaming of. Your family deserves a place in this world to escape the anxiety and stress that comes with being an adult so hopefully my advice in this video will encourage you to connect with your inner child and make this trip one of the most memorable vacations with the ones you love the most!

I pack less stuff and spend part of my resort day doing laundry. I take a book and sit in a one of the lounge areas in the corridor and read while waiting for the laundry. Set an alarm or countdown timer on your phone, so you don't monopolize one of the limited washers. The hotel has machines with detergent, but they may not have a brand you can use. So bring detergent sheets in a zip baggie. They do not weigh anything, you can use only the amount you need for your load size, they do not have dyes and they can be unscented. It is a relaxing day and you can accomplish something. As a bonus, your bags are not so heavy that you need assistance to get them to your room or around the airport.
I actually love #9! People talk so much about Its Tough to be a Bug and how awful it is. My whole family LOVED it! We didn’t wait in a long line, it was air conditioned, it was immersive, it gave us adults a great mid-day break! Not to mention how great the queue is! I actually highly recommend it for a large family in the middle of a hot summer day!
Tough to be a bug catches a lot of grief…I think kids either love it or hate it. I actually love it too. But when deciding what to do first at AK in the mornings I’d never pick it. I agree with you completely though that it’s perfect for a mid day break! Maybe after lunch at flametree bbq or something 😋
Another fantastic video. What i learned under this new genie+ system is making restaurant reservations is not worth it if you want to get the most out of your time. Not having a food reservation messing with your ability to be flexible is gold. Much easier to just eat/snack as you go now. But if you just have eat at a particular place then it is what it is lol. Under the old system you had your fast passes in advance and you could schedule restaurants around those.
Good points! I see what you mean about difficulty planning around the genie + system. Its set up so you have to do one ride after another instead of, say, choosing your afternoon rides in advance. It all depends on how you like to "do Disney" too. We are like you most of the time and just snack here and there so we have more ride flexibility. I will so though, that in the heat of the summer it is NICE to have that sit down restaurant in the middle of the day to soak in some AC. When I'm that hot I'm not usually moving very quickly through the park to maximize rides anyways lol I'll get there when I get there 😂
❤ Love that you reminded people to put down the phones. It’s amazing how much more you and your kiddos enjoy your time. You get to experience Disney in a whole new way when you see it through their eyes.

Great video for newbies....we are oldtimers from when Disney wasnt a madhouse and you didnt need to walk with a phone in your hand.....so when we go its whatever happens will be good....i plan on Epcot and Magic Kingdom....if too crowded as its been then we just leave....walk on boardwalk....hotel hop....nap.....eat....go to Downtown .....Disney can be very stressful as u said if too overly planned,....just do what you can and enjoy what u did,,,,,always next trip to get to where u might of missed.....😄
Bingo! This is the level of Disney world I love. I don't remember my first visit ( I was 3 back then) but I do remember Tims first visit and Storys first visit. Seeing everything through them is magic within itself. I wanted to show them every corner of every park and take a million pictures. But now that we have reached a point where we can reminisce and pick/choose favorites its so much more enjoyable for all of us. Its not a race to do the most anymore. We notice the details now and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

It was from ShopDisney online but from like 3 years ago 😫 It has coordinating PJ shorts with pink Mickey ice cream bars all over it🩷

And with his memory going as it is we plan to do every bit to nor only make memories but also to have various things to bring home for those memories. Aw thanks friends! Aside from the memory maker photo package there are a few things that come to mind that you might like. In Magic Kingdom you could pick out a Christmas ornament in the Christmas shop. They will hand customize it for you in the store with whatever you like (last name, nickname, year or anniversary etc) In Epcot (near the Mexico pavilion) you can get affordable rings and have them hand carved. There’s also the pick-a-pearl experience over in the Japan pavilion. Choose your oyster, take the pearl and set it in a necklace or ring. I think all of the parks have a Pandora shop but each of them have exclusive Disney charms that people love to collect. Another one is Disney art…there are several throughout the parks but they have countless prints from different Disney movies and scenes. I have purchased several and had them framed here’s at home. Those are just things off the top of my head but if you go onto MDE and filter the maps for ‘shops’ you can scroll through different merchandise locations and see if there’s anything else you might like 😊

Seriously! I see Story smile at things and my heart just melts completely. People would always say “she’s so young she won’t remember” but sometimes it’s for the moms and dads to remember too 🥹 Sheesh! Having these feelings is one thing but vocalizing them really choked me up! 😂
Agreed, we’re told all the time about our kids being too young but the bonding and magic we see at this age is irreplaceable and will forever be my most cherished memories. When I was telling J about your video I started choking up too! Hits ya’ outta left field.
The baby centers have deodorant as well. Ya know, for those oops, I forgot an armpit moment. Can't tell anyone why I know this, I just know this. Lol
🤣🤣🤣 literal life savers! That’s something you DEFINITELY don’t want to avoid in the summer…especially in those long lines lol I should have added natural deodorant to the list. Leave that at home. Disney requires ALL the aluminum antiperspirant!
