Haven't had a chance to run the spear LT yet, but i absolutely love my 10.3 URG-i. Hands down my favorite rig in my collection. Geissele just makes nice shit man.
Shoot Get the griffin mk2, it has the exact ambi controls of the adm but without the cool cuts for half the price, 200 to 219 I’m seeing, I’m pretty sure they are built on adm blanks but that might be a rumor lol
Excellent video. I always enjoy the blunt honesty and sticking with your convictions. I own the Spear LT as well and I love it for its purpose. It definitely is a heavier rifle on the front end which is why I added a full tube stock on the back end to counterweight where I could for a more balanced rifle. I'll be doing a video on my Spear setup in a few weeks. I also run the DD RIS II SOCOM upper on my Geissele Super Duty and it is a noticeable difference between Piston and tuned DI systems. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, and I agree with you that it's up to the end user's preference and enjoyment of their 2A rights. Keep up the excellent work, brother.
As someone who owns a 11.5 Spear LT and a 11.5 BCM MK2, I have to agree with this video. The Spear only handles gas in the face better. I still love my spear LT, but I would not have bought it had I been able to shoot one. The Spear LT recoil impulse is different, not less but different. I just love the look of it so much.
I own both of those as well, and as much as I love the spear Lt, my 11.5 BCM MK2 is my go to, I run a geissele on my BCM with an H3 buffer and it’s wild, love that thing.
Bro I put so much money into my spear lt and hardly ever shoot it, I think I can admit to buyers remorse because I use my mk18 and play with it daily…like it literally just sits in the closet
The fact that sig uses torx + (IP profile) to do basic maintenance infuriates me to no end. I literally saved a note on my phone to send to friends that ask me how I like the spear lol. Let’s just say I don’t have a ton of positive things to say.
@@RangeDayBro you asked for it lol Friend: How do you like it? “To be honest it's a love hate relationship. And I wouldn't intend to give it to a friend unless they were fully committed to be running this. It's an engineering marvel for sure. A piston system that doesn't use a buffer spring, but uses a recoil spring as part of the bolt carrier assembly is pretty neat. The ability to change out a barrel easily is very impressive. It cycles very well as a piston gun when suppressed. And aesthetically it's a great design. Have very minimal failures when running it as well. Spider-Man’s grandpa once said, “With great power comes great responsibility”, and Sig fails to deliver on this consistently, because of the manufactures inflated ego. The Sig Spear comes with Sigs toxic execution of quality control. I'm convinced that Sig doesn't have real quality inspectors/engineers on their production lines. Instead they rely on their customers to tell them how flawed there products can be once they are out in the field. Then they make a recall and modify the product when the second generation comes out..P320 cough cough… For over 2k, I had to retorque the hand guard screws and the barrel mount. You could physically press the muzzle brake and the barrel/handguard would shift. Sig also uses torx + IP profile hardware, which is incredibly silly for a firearm when doing routine maintenance. For over 2K, Sig shouldn’t have to require its customers to repair there quality fuck up. Also, Imagine being in a SHTF scenario with your Sig spear and you forget your Wiha torx + set. In the Spear manual, Sig calls for a “Torx” screw to retighten the hand guard screws, however they failed to define that it’s actually a Torx Plus instead. That’s score one for the technical writing team. God help you when you strip out of the Torx + heads as well, I was the idiot that did that already. The "minimalist" butt stock is hot garbage. It's non adjustable and uncomfortable. Yes it folds, but there so much more to be desired in its design. It also makes the rifle very front heavy, especially for a piston gun. And its weight is not balanced when you start mounting accessories. A first world problem, but still it’s kind of annoying. I changed the stock to a Midwest folder, that was another 200 bucks. Owners have complained about magazine over insertion but I haven’t luckily dealt with that, however for over 2K the trigger assembly is very mid. I’ve felt better trigger breaks/resets from the PSA Sabres than this… again first world problem. I had to replace the charging handle for a 100 dollar plus Radian Raptor to reduce gas to the face when suppressed. If I had to do it all over again I probably wouldn't get it. I feel like Sig rushed through the manufacturing process in my opinion. It has the capability of being a very well made firearm tho. I just think Sig needs to go back to the drawing board.
I built out a clone correct 14.5 URGI with a colt receiver and a DD barrel and it's actually one of my favorite rifles. Most of my other rifles have criterion barrels and are tuned way more, but the URGI just works for some reason. It's a little gassy (what do you expect from a DD barrel) but it's one of my favorite guns to shoot. I really, really, really want a Spear LT though. I wanna get a 16" and chop it down to 14.5. But honestly, this vid kinda makes me want the 11.5 now And awesome shout out to D. Wilson - that dude fucks 100% agree with you on the ambi controls - the most important part of an ambi lower is the ambi bolt catch. My favorite is the ADM4 but the new griffin Mk2 is pretty much the same thing and costs half as much. I have one of them and it's really almost identical to my ADM4s
In 2018 I had a bunch of money fall into my lap so I bought 2 Virtus. They’re really good guns, and the .300 blk almost brings enough to the table to justify its costs. But 5.56 gun does not. Its my daily driver and I like it, but it’s just as gassy as an AR and it doesn’t run any better in moon dust or in sub zero temps. I will say this though… It likes M855 a lot. It just passed 9k rounds and it still shoots 5 round groups into a 2 inch hole at 100m.
question... why you chose a g45 magnifier on a 11.5? i have a g43 on my spear lt.. what's the benefit ? and do you find it more practical over the g43.
A lot of it is personal preference. I’ve never had or used the G33 or 43 so I can’t speak to them specifically but I had the vortex micro 3x and I’m always going to choose higher magnification if I can. Yes you get a smaller FOV but I’ve never been in a situation where I wish I had a lower magnification. IMO for PID and shooting further I want more mag not less.
I dont have any issues with any of my 300blk guns or ammo especislly my reloads, and its not expensive anymore and not sure why people keep repeating this old news.
Even if both were same price, urgi all day
The spear is so overrated
@@UndertheTreesPNW Not to mention it's problems

ADM lower is king for ambidextrous controls. They are my go to lowers!
Man i need to bite the bullet and purchase one I hear nothing but amazing stuff about it and that it’s truly ambidextrous

Some of that hearing safe is also the down vent. Seen some videos of dB tests and the down vent was a significant reduction in and of itself. Cheers

SD cam pin is different has a ledge, doesn't come with any Buffer or spring

Put a little patch of female Velcro or felt on the inside if the OHC light cap, it'll help dampen that plasticky sound when you flip it
I remember when primary arms had geissele blem uppers for like 5-600 an they were selling very slow... an I just kept buying one a week!! 😂

LMT 12” MARS Upper with ADM lower >>> both of theses. Just my opinion lol. These are both sick ass guns.
A man of culture.
LMT SpecWar for the win.
New sub here. I love your channel bro. Keep it up
SD Mod1 comes with braided buffer spring and H2 buffer weight. I have the 16".
Question, do you run backup sites with your Eotech and magnifier?
My 14.5 urgi is awesome. Little gassy tho lol.
This ones gonna be good!!!
Have you used the huxwrx on either rifle? If so what are your thoughts?
URG-I, next question.
MCX is like Lamborghini with parts expensive and not as available as the AR-15 the AR-15 is the Honda.
Yeah I got the 14.5 URG-I, but I want a 11.5 URG-I as well!! Very biased towards those uppers.. they just perform man.
How many rounds do you have through the URGI?
Quad Rail Supremacy
I just like short stroke pistons but if CZ can price them rationally then why can't SIG?

LMT is king of the ambi lowers
I thought urgi had airborne handle and the superduty has the super charging handle
Noooooo Spear LT!!!!!!! Joking bud you do you. I do prefer the sig though.
Griffin MK2 is a FULLY ambi lower that’s half the price of ADM
And its forged with a flared magwell rather than billet
What’s the difference between a urg-i and a super duty
Barrel, gas block, markings on the rail and charging handle.
11.5 Supremacy!!!!!
Urgi is superior and it is pretty lame that sig doesn't put chrome lined barrels in the civilian spears like the military and LE versions
🤟🤟
Good videos, sub'd
It's just common sense. The geissele is cheaper and quality is same. The geissele and the system is just tried and true.
