I didn't know I needed an ASMR ar build video but this was great! I have the same Magpie action block and I guess I need to read the instructions because I didn't realize you used the carrier with it lol. Couple suggestions for future builds: 1. when you use a wrench fitting on a torque wrench, you need to have it at a 90 degree angle to the handle to get accurate torque readings. I did like you did for years before finding out there is a correct way to do it. 2. Forward control designs makes a gas block jig that fits most low pro gas blocks like you used and can be held in a vice to make installing the roll pin easier. Also, Geissele makes special punches just for that job as well. Makes that job so much easier.
@@vietnamtactical make sure you use a torque extension calculator as it looks like you extended your length by around 4-6 inches. So you probably put 20-40% more torque on your fasteners just an fyi. Also oils or gun oils will lube your threads making your torque wrench output a lot more torque. Clean build :).

Something about the way this was filmed is so satisfying! If youre up for some advice from a stranger. Remember to keep any 1/2" drive adapter at 90 degrees when torqueing unless you are taking that extra length in consideration when calculating what torque setting to use. For example, in the vid, the added length of barrel nut wrench is causing the applied torque to be much higher unless you put the setting at a lower setting to compensate. the amount to decrease can be calculated pretty easily since you know the length of the torque wrench and the setting you want it to be set at. Also, those magpul bench blocks are good for lowers and muzzle devices, but they dont actualyl support the upper receiver so torqueing on a barrel nut goes from barrel nut to upper to barrel through the index pin. The midwest URR supports the upper much better.
The torque specs are so wide for a barrel nut it doesn't matter. If you're really that concerned just set your wrench for the lower edge and crank away. Also, the Bev Block is fine. The steel lugs interface with the barrel extension. The barrel nut shouldn't touch the index pin regardless of what block you use. If it does it's out of spec. The barrel nut is pressing the lip of the extension into the receiver and securing it in place. The only time you're putting ANY torque directly on the barrel is when you're tightening/indexing a muzzle device. People just need to calm down and think about shit for a second.
@@PoliticallyInsensitiveMy comment was about all adapters not specifically a barrel nut. Might want to take your own advice there. Yes, when using a bev block/geissele rod there is a COMPRESSIVE FORCE that is applied directly to the flange of the barrel extension. However the TORQUE is transferred from barrel nut to the upper receiver through the threads since there is significantly more surface area. This torque increases as the frictions increases. If the receiver is not supported, this torque goes directly through the index pin to the barrel extension then to your Bev block.
@@Justin-dp9tw I came here to say the same thing. He's holding the torque wrench wrong and should be at a 90 degree angle to the AR wrench. Yea and it does matter whether you're doing a barrel nut or anything, knowing how to use tools correctly matters.
I'd invest in a reaction rod, as it helps with proper clocking down to the proper TDI spec that sometimes the index pin itself doesn't always guarantee, as well as reduces the stress that in caused on the upper from torquing, as well as a gas block pin jig, so you can pin that gas block bro. Otherwise, nice build for you buddy!
Only thing id do different is to heat fit the barrel instead of beating it in. You get less chance of material loss and a tighter fit in the end when the receiver cools
Came to say the same thing. Must be 90°, if you keep it straight like that the lever arm changes and the torque applied is greater. You can still do it straight, you just need to do the calcs to set the proper torque.

Just a heads up, the way you are using the torque wrench is wrong. The wrench needs to be perpendicular to the armorers tool when you torque, or you will actually get a larger torque value than desired as a result of the longer effective lever length. This is unless you calculated what you should set ur wrench to beforehand. Otherwise great build!
Jesus, I piddled with that pivot pin for hours, until I finally broke down and ordered a tool overnight from Amazon. And you just made that shit look so easy!
That was my thoughts. The words Aero Precision and high end don't work in the same sentence. I would have used a Geissele or at least a BCM M4. Who knows. Maybe Aero was the only thing in FDE at the time of the build. Looks nice though.
If you can show me the specific differences between aero and Geisselle uppers then I’ll switch to expensive. Hell they probably come from the same factory with a different stamped name on it, mil-spec is mil-spec. If you’ve built ar’s before then you know the parts that actually matter are the barrel, bolt carrier and trigger just as long as you go aluminum and not poly
@DBHC_PRO You can get thermal fit uppers from BCM blems for 50.00 doll hairs all day long. Good tolerances tight barrel fitment and dry film lubricant internals. If you have never tried any other upper, I could see why you would say that. Vltor murs are excellent noticeable quality differences just in feel and function.
@DBHC_PRO So LMT, KAC, Noveske, LWRC, LaRue Match Grade, Geissele Super Duty, Daniel Defense, BCM all have the same upper receivers? It's just the name stamped on them that sets them apart? Might as well run all Palmetto State Armory gear if that's the case.
I spoke to a representative of a lower end brand and a higher end brand recently, they both said their uppers and lowers come from the same super factory. The same receivers you find for $150-500 you can find for $80-100 made by the exact same guys lol. Sure some are made in house, but this goes for the majority.
not sure if youre taking this into account or not, but any time you use a torque extension at any angle OTHER that 90 degrees, you must do a torque calculation. Otherwise, the incorrect torque is being applied.
@@vietnamtactical Well, youre applying more torque than what your wrench is set at. Im an aircraft mechanic and use torque wrenches daily. When you put your armorers wrench on there at that angle, youre extending the torque lever.
@@CiviTac fair enough, you can google this information as well and see im correct. I'm sure it's worked fine because for this situation "tight is tight". I just figured if he cared enough to use a torque wrench he'd care to know his output torque is incorrect when used in that fashion.
I see where youre coming from. Fields that have to do with torque definitely more important to get it exactly right. Fortunately guns have quite a bit of leniency. Pistol red dots I 100% need to have the exact torque or it will snap the screws haha
Great video, a little lost by the "Gucci" Aero upper on a mostly Geissele build. $G upper would've made more sense and not cost alot more than the aero.
@@CallsignAvenger91 I was completely oblivious to geissele making stripped uppers. Luckily he likes the diff shades of FDE. I consider the parts that matter is what makes a weapon gucci haha
@@vietnamtactical No judgement here, I have an Aero lower as my SBR lower which has a PWS Mk109 upper with OCL Polo-30 on it. Gucci doesn't matter as long as it works, lol.

@@mb9w I saw nothing on this rifle other than top tier parts with the exception of the AERO forward assist which doesn’t really matter. One could argue the ratcheting castle nut is sub par but that’s widely debated by the staked castle nut nazis
I hate to say it. But I think you used the torque wrench wrong. Torque wrench should be at 90 degrees when attached to the armorers wrench. You basically added 5-10 lbs to the torque value. Now granted. It'll still shoot just fine.
@@michaeldeka9495 Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it does indeed change the torque load applied at the nut. Will it matter? Probably not when using just a barrel nut wrench, but when you have 8-10 inches of added length with an armorer’s wrench, it could be enough to matter.
Awesome build, just a couple tips from master armorer if you care, when using an armorers tool and a torque wrench always have the armorers tool at 90 degrees to the torque wrench for the most accurate reading, you may also want to consider using Rocksett instead of Loctitie on muzzle devices and other high heat applications. Love the build though bro, I am a sucker for 50 shades of fde builds!
You're suppose to heat up the receiver mainly around the barrel nut threads and the barrel will slide right in. Torch near it for like 15-30 seconds and that'll do the job.
He is a home assembler. Not an armorer. Why do you think he didn’t press the gas block or stake the castle nut. Had to use a small hammer to push on accessories. He probably didn’t show that he had to remove the safely to get the tigger in. Dude don’t use your leather wallet hammer of an A15. Lol
From a European Perspektive it is really irritating seeing a normal person building a gun from scratch. Like building a costom computer. I mean These things are conceived to kill… Blows my mind how big the industrie seems to be, and that guns are part of normsl people life. I would never like to life in sunch a Environment.
Computers are used to start wars, guns are used to fight them. It depends on how you look at it. From what it looks like you have an evil mindset. Guns are tools, you say they’re used to kill I say they’re used for the preservation of life. Just because one person uses it for evil does not mean the majority do the same, it’s actually far from it. Not sure what media they be showing you in Europe but thats more dangerous than any gun I know.

Put a vx-5 on it. 1k scope, and a nomad TI suppressor, 1,300 with tax stamp. Got about 4k in that rifle….Haven’t shot it yet. I hunt in my back yard almost everyday. I build a lot of AR’s for people. Most want super-over the top stuff that makes the rifle heavy and super-useless. All my personal AR’s are very light mostly 16” and most have scopes, few have red dots/eotech. You remind me of many of my friends 25yrs ago. Super-tactical thinking and super-suck at hunting…or hitting anything.
All parts can be bought for much less. It’s funny watching people spend so much to literally get the same thing. So much over-priced crap. He spent 1k on this rifle and I could have drilled out a 80 lower, build the whole gun, 3.5lb trigger and everything! For about half that. And the gun will shoot 1” MOA in a 16” barrel. @vietac Nice build. When doing castle nut and barrel nuts consider putting your torque wrench 90 degree to the tool you are using. You currently have it in line with the tool which extends the leverage of the wrench and throws off the torque number.

All i could think the entire video was......mmmmmmmmmmm, nice! Oh another part? Oh yeah, thats the good stuff right there. It was a treat to get to watch you work.
Pretty good, but if I just make some suggestions that will make it feel a world of difference: A JP silent capture recoil buffer, and an adjustable gas block. Fine tune it to his specific ammo and it'll feel like a real race gun.
Do I have an interest in firearms? No, Did I watch the entire video? Yes. It’s very cool to see the engineering of the rifle, and all the little spring thingies inside, super cool very interesting, if I was into airsoft like I used to when I was younger I’d do this as a hobby for airsoft it just seems cool Edit: Typo
1. Hopefully that barrel is dimpled for the gas block. 2. Hopefully you used thread locker on those gas block screws. 3. Optic should be held forward when tightened
I would recommend lapping the upper before attaching barrel. Also push sights forward when attatching on the rail because of possible movement from recoil. Nice build though!

@DBHC_PRO
So LMT, KAC, Noveske, LWRC, LaRue Match Grade, Geissele Super Duty, Daniel Defense, BCM all have the same upper receivers? It's just the name stamped on them that sets them apart? Might as well run all Palmetto State Armory gear if that's the case.
I spoke to a representative of a lower end brand and a higher end brand recently, they both said their uppers and lowers come from the same super factory. The same receivers you find for $150-500 you can find for $80-100 made by the exact same guys lol. Sure some are made in house, but this goes for the majority.
NOTHING like gun assembly asmr. Ahhhhh…
That was so relaxing to watch. Also I had no idea so many parts went into making some guns, very cool.
not sure if youre taking this into account or not, but any time you use a torque extension at any angle OTHER that 90 degrees, you must do a torque calculation. Otherwise, the incorrect torque is being applied.
Always works fine for me brotha
@@vietnamtactical Well, youre applying more torque than what your wrench is set at. Im an aircraft mechanic and use torque wrenches daily. When you put your armorers wrench on there at that angle, youre extending the torque lever.
@@FRITZ717 whether you’re right or not I’m not sure. However I do know dudes have been torquing down barrel nuts and castle nuts this way for decades
Bro I'm running an LMT BCG, in an Anderson upper on my LR-308 build lol.
Anderson is the lowest of the low@@coltonowens2742
Nothing absolutely wrong with Areo you fanboys just like to spend a lot of money on nothing!
Really interesting to watch. I live in England so we don’t really have the opportunity to do anything like this. Your friend has now got a very Gucci rifle 👍.
Can you guys have guns at all?
@@0-0-0-2 hand guns are totally band. We can have rifles but the laws are incredibly restrictive and strict.
I appreciate it👌👌
@@0-0-0-2 It's amazing how this world functions at all with so few of them actually being free. It is as if the word "free" has a different definition that what is in the dictionary.
@@0-0-0-2*Yes, but in reality, no. If you're met with any possible assailant, you're expected to die.
Solid mid tier build, good stuff.
yup exactly my thoughts not a high end but mid tier.
I honestly never expected that assembling a rifle would involve so much hammering lol
Pretty interesting to see how many pressure fitted parts there are, and it also makes me wonder how viable it is to replace those if they ever break somehow.
Half of his choices were top tier. The other half were buffoonery.
Thought out*
@@mb9w I saw nothing on this rifle other than top tier parts with the exception of the AERO forward assist which doesn’t really matter. One could argue the ratcheting castle nut is sub par but that’s widely debated by the staked castle nut nazis
Needed a jp silent capture spring
@@CiviTacwell bc you’re poor
@@CiviTac What's wrong with the aero fa? Why spend $$$ for something that works just as well. Aero stuff has never failed me.
I hate to say it. But I think you used the torque wrench wrong. Torque wrench should be at 90 degrees when attached to the armorers wrench. You basically added 5-10 lbs to the torque value. Now granted. It'll still shoot just fine.
That, cutting the cardboard tube open, and two handing the tiny screw for the flashlight had me wincing solid
Literally who gives a shit?
Wrong I use torque wrenches all the time and it does not change to torque value I’ve tried on a snap on torque calibration machine
@@adambrocious3751 agreed if you add an extension to that it will change the torque but for what he’s doing it won’t
Lol
3:52 I should call her...
😭😭
Definitely worth a subscribe. Thats an incredible build!
Appreciate it brotha!

ASMR but for building rifles
The asmr I like. Awesome build! I hope your friend enjoys this beauty!
From a European Perspektive it is really irritating seeing a normal person building a gun from scratch. Like building a costom computer. I mean These things are conceived to kill…
Blows my mind how big the industrie seems to be, and that guns are part of normsl people life.

Shut it Gaylord. You are not man enough to understand true freedom.

Gucci = Over priced POS 😂😂
@@sethdavid2117 its actually better priced than you think a lot better. Tbf you probably hunt with a $500 bolt rifle so i suppose in your case it is overpriced
@ Na, my go-to is my Savage 99 lever gun, 20” made in 1968, chambered in .300 Savage. I just got a Tikka t3x roughtech ember and it was $1,400, just the gun.
Cant wait to see these guys run their guns and see how bad they run and how bad they shoot and never have a clue why. 😂
@@vietnamtacticalLook at the hunt vidz I have. Mostly all in my back yard on my land. 🇺🇸❤️
Correct, 100%.
Really nice looking rifle man, wish we could have these in Canada....
coming from building computers and keyboards, your editing makes me wanna start my own build now, great video!
You should totally get into it, its a good skill to have
beautiful gun. Not annoyingly tactical but not bare n boring. Good job man
love the video bro, my only pet peeve is all the dings and scratches you are putting in the build(yes i know it's kinda take a beating anyway)
I transitioned from corn to gun builds and my life has improved drastically
This video was by far the best AR building video I've ever watched on YT! ❤
Appreciate it brotha!

Amazing video. Actually love this type of untapped “asmr” 😂
Looks clean!
Super clean build dude, love your work. Keep it up bro!💪🏻
Appreciate it man!
That’s a dope ass build. You should drop a list of all the parts. Ps, maybe on the next build he can do it as you help him along bc there’s nothing like a rifle you built yourself. Great work brother
Thats a great idea. I might have my wife build my next AR👌
You did your friend well! I am sure that he loves it!
I can watch these kinda builds all day long.
@vietac Nice build. When doing castle nut and barrel nuts consider putting your torque wrench 90 degree to the tool you are using. You currently have it in line with the tool which extends the leverage of the wrench and throws off the torque number.
I’ve tried for ages to find a video back where a rifle is actually built. Wanted to use it as a reference to building my own, but had to google bits and pieces instead. Saved for the future, thanks!
Appreciate you brotha!
All i could think the entire video was......mmmmmmmmmmm, nice! Oh another part? Oh yeah, thats the good stuff right there. It was a treat to get to watch you work.
Glad you enjoyed the build!
man i love being an American! that AR tattoo is sick

Makes me want to start another build.great video!
I really enjoyed the snap cut build process. Man that was great, than you for all your hard work and a great viedeo.
Glad you liked it! It was a lot of fun making!
Pretty good, but if I just make some suggestions that will make it feel a world of difference: A JP silent capture recoil buffer, and an adjustable gas block. Fine tune it to his specific ammo and it'll feel like a real race gun.
Great job. Only suggestion is to add a set of roll pin punches to your tool kit.
Great and I do mean GREAT video sir.
Love the build.
Wish I had friends to do builds for 😢
I need this kind of friend 😂, Great video.

Do I have an interest in firearms? No, Did I watch the entire video? Yes. It’s very cool to see the engineering of the rifle, and all the little spring thingies inside, super cool very interesting, if I was into airsoft like I used to when I was younger I’d do this as a hobby for airsoft it just seems cool

So satisfying yet so precise, your dope asl man, fw that build. 💯🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, appreciate it!
@ question, what’s your pricing and the process of reaching out to you and all that for getting a custom gun?
1. Hopefully that barrel is dimpled for the gas block. 2. Hopefully you used thread locker on those gas block screws. 3. Optic should be held forward when tightened
Now this is what you call “call of duty building weapons experts.”
Love the build, only thing that tickles me is all the scratches you made.
There were none haha the brass can just be wiped off
YO! This is a beautiful build. I could definitely learn from you.
Thanks, appreciate it!👌
You should totally film more videos like these. This was awesome to watch
Im trying to get some out next year!
I would recommend lapping the upper before attaching barrel. Also push sights forward when attatching on the rail because of possible movement from recoil. Nice build though!
You don't need to lap the upper. That's fudd lore.
@@hxdaro Not required but is recommended if upper is coated.
