@A A D I'm really baffled about the myth. It's all I had ever heard about AK's once I got heavily into guns. I had my first AR for about 9 years before I bought my AK, which I got for no other reason than just to have one. My AR is set up pretty simple, a good red dot, solid light, and a comfy vertical grip. I brought it along the first time I took the AK out, thinking I'll get bored not being able to hit anything and want to actually shoot. HA! I was popping cans at 100 to 125 with the crude irons like they were 10 feet in front of me. If you cant hit your target with an AK, it's probably the shooter, not the gun.

As a Russian, I can say with 100% certainty that Dima (full name: Dmitry) wasn’t actually angry. Russian language is just really loud, sharp, charged, and expressive, which is why it seems aggressive to any outsider of our culture even if it isn’t aggressive at all. It’s rather rare to actually see a Russian person being angry (we, as people, are rather patient & reserved), but when you do, you’ll hear the tone rise to the point of yelling on top of the lungs & see dishes flying, so to speak. It’s not pretty to see a Russian person angry & may probably make lots of people around us scared.

@@TheSilentpigs100 There are a few advantages to the AK platform, such as you can use a folding stock if you want a smaller weapon without getting an often more expensive bullpup (I want a consumer AUG dammit). I also hear it can take much lower quality ammo which is a benefit for those boogaloo boys.
Reliability wise, the dudes at InRangeTV seem to think the M4 is actually more reliable if you take care of it, which you should anyway, I'm sure most gun geeks on the internet now have seen Herrara's and InRange's mud test.
To be honest, if the AK platform was more availible in the US (I'm Australian so I don't bother so let's just say for argument, in the US), I'd probably pick up an AK just because it's cooler.

I served in the regular army of Russia from 2010 to 2011 and learned very important things!
    The first one!
1)Never point a weapon at a person even if it is not loaded!
2)If there is no need to shoot, then do not keep your finger on the trigger!
3)If you have a combat weapon in peacetime, make sure that it is on the safety!
4)Even if you have a weapon in wartime, see the rules above!

    • @rohesilmnelohe
      @rohesilmnelohe 2 года назад +17

We in Estonia have them in a bit different flavor.
      1) ALWAYS treat a weapon as it is loaded.
      2) Do not point it at anything or anyone you are not willing to shoot
      3) Finger stays off the trigger until you are about to shoot.
      4) Safety is off only when shooting. At all other times safety has to be engaged. (Refer to rule number one)
Step out of line with any of these and you very soon learn, through pain if necessary (excercising to your breaking point and then beyond), that these are essentially god-tier laws.

"The angry Russian that is shouting to my ears right now" - reminds me of an instructor I had in the 80s when I was in the Army learning Russian at DLI (Defense Language Institute). He was an old ex-submariner and his favorite technique of instruction was to stand behind you while you spoke. If you made a mistake, it was immediately corrected by him stomping his foot on the wooden floor (our classrooms were in WWII-era buildings) while yelling "NYET!" in your ear. Needless to say, we learned quickly.

Man I wish I had that in my college Russian class, learning Russian is so hard.
Fun fact, one of our professors is actually the guy who wrote the grammar textbook used by the DLI. Sadly he doesn't scream in our ears to motivate us, though I've heard stories about a now-retired professor who was a real-life angry babushka who'd make fun of kids for not doing things right, which according to my current professor who grew up in the USSR is very accurate to how Russian students were treated by their teachers.

4:04 the instructor says: "You are now responsible for a person, standing in front of you". The interpreter says:"You now depend on a person, standing behind you". A slight error in the translation, but the mindset the instructor is trying to put them in is somehow lost. It's like "it's your responsibility" in one case, calling for awareness and "you depend on someone", a passive message, that would make people think about people behind them, rather than focusing them on their muzzle control and safety. I guess a lot of stuff gets lost in translation like this

For example when you say " 60% of a body consist of the water", the correct translation to Slovak (my native Slavic language) is "Telo sa skláda zo 60% z vody"
"Vody" is genitive form of voda/water.
If you didn´t use genitive, but voda: "Telo sa skladá z voda zo 60%", everybody would understand anyway

I trained with Dima when him and Fred arrived to Las Vegas. I thought I knew my AKM, but I was absolutely wrong. It’s one thing to be shooting at a range to test out a gun, but it’s a new ball game with training courses and see what our rifles are capable of. Fatigue really kicked me around and the weight of the 7.62x39 adds up, while it’s not as bad with AKs in 5.56 & 5.45. Still, if Dima returns, I’ll gladly sign up again.
