@@blcritic yup. I failed to look far enough back in time. Forgot the series was out early enough to have been discussed in the midyear reports. Though it turns out the discussion I was thinking of was slightly earlier than those.
Referring to earlier comments, I can't ever feel that a bad BL series is "so bad it's good". Would that I could. Back in the days of the video rental stores like Blockbuster, etc., there would usually be something like a "Midnight Movie" section. The purpose was to provide you with a movie that was considered to be really bad but you might think it was good entertainment. I question what the hell is going on when some of these series are created, acted and recorded right in front of the eyes of the producers, etc., and do they really think they are creating magic?
hehe... tbh I have been through that.. when I first joined showbiz.. my Thai was weak and the lakorns were pure shits. Almost always I was like "What are they even thinking?" "Do they think the audience is that dumb?" and "Is this some money laundering scheme?"... Gosh I have come a long way.. from that to being excited when there is a slap scene and looking at the technical aspect of the scene rather than the comedy.
I knew that either "That's My Candy" or "Gen Y2" would take the top spot, but for you to make an exception and select them both for it's wonderful. I still feel bad for Kim and Copter. This wasn't a great year for them, in regards to BL productions.
@BL Critic Or their managers should, at least know that their talent deserves better scripts. It's not like they have to take anything and everything that is offered to them. ETA: It should also be a cautionary tale for other popular pairings: OhmFluke, BounPrem, etc. Luckily, with the current airing of "Between Us", it showcases how great those four performers are, when their is a well-written script, and good direction with the production.
Oh we have seen enough Ohm Fluke and Boun Prem for this year. About whether it is low self esteem or need for money? Umm I think even the managers do not look at the script... just the story summary is narrated and they make their actors sign it.. may be things will change in future.. but till now.. they do not look at the critical success.. they just want visibility of their actors for more endorsements.. and even shit series like Unforgotten Night or Cutie Pie had lots of views and fan following.

I knew Check Out and Unforgotten Night would be on this list. Check Out suffered from a vile director who wanted to market his businesses more than make a show.. Unforgotten Night tried and failed but I still enjoyed the attempt. I am still mad at myself for sitting all the way through Fahlanruk. I assumed Oh My Sunshine Night would make the list and it did not. I am surprised. I saw enough clips to avoid it.
Forgive yourself for enduring every episode of an execrable show. That demonstrates you live your life on hope and faith. "It will get better," you stubbornly tell yourself as you dial up episode 11 of 12, even though no scintilla of evidence amassed heretofore, nary a jot nor an iota, suggests any likelihood of recovery. Not even to the low bar of "halfway decent." But better to hope in vain than always to abandon hope by ditching every misfiring series early. I admire your perseverance. Go easy on yourself for this pecadillo. Still. Unforgotten Night? Better discretion, some perceptive selective judgment about where to place that hope and faith, seems indicated. 😙 Kidding. Any rumours about new production houses, executives in the industry who make decisions, genres that are going to be heavily favoured, new or unusual pairings, overseas investment, airing rights to series on other platforms than Netflix? I know a lot right LOL
The first step is to recognize you have a problem. I was struck at the number of production houses he cited for being serial offenders at producing garbage. It suggests they think they're doing just fine.
@@civivva4501 but but but! I cannot give up hope! What if it gets better, and i miss it? I mean it can't get worse, right? OK, so the answer to the second question is a resounding, "Yes, it can get worse. Should have listened to Civivva and quit after Ep. 3." But overall, you are absolutely right: if more of us dumped a bad series early, maybe producers would get a clue. I actually dropped Gen Y 2 after only one episode, and Unforgotten Night after two. But That's My Candy 🍬 I stuck with to the bitter end. ("Bitter" is not a description any type of candy should aspire to!) TMC was so awful I couldn't stop watching it. Yay! It's the most wonderful time of the year! The time Mr. Critic drops his shit list! 😄 There were some crappy K BLs, but I don't think any of them quite sank to the murky depths that the ones on this list managed. Thankfully, I chose wisely and didn't watch any of the ones in your top three. Of the ones I watched, Check Out is absolutely the worst. Zero redeeming qualities. I would probably move Fahlanruk up on the list if it weren't for the cute side couples. Fah and Sher are toxic assholes that deserve each other. Great video! I love it when you come in hot with the snarky takes.
They should give a warning before watching Fahlanruk. Something like"WARNING, DANGER, High TOXICITY, for your CONSIDERATION or BE AWARE of all those things😂🤣. Agree with the side couples
The phrase "sank to the murky depths" certainly cannot be applied to *Ocean Likes Me* as that series never rose off the murky seabed. In order to sink, one must first float after all. But I'll grant that was a shallow ocean. OLM was, for me, the nadir of K-BL, but it was more passable than these series.
Unforgotten night was not that bad 😕 I give it a 5 and an extra 1 point for effort 😏 which brings it to 6 🙁 but I agree fahlanruk' was a disappointment 😞 I actually enjoyed the first 2 episodes but after that it went downhill very fast 😏
I thought Checkout would be no. 1 but GenY2 is ok too. I had totally forgotten the tuxedo. 2moons 2 ambassador could be on no 4 easily. There is no way it will be redeemed in later episodes. Good job, Mr. BLC.

Stay tuned for the NEXT list. I have no certain inside information, but I think he may have separated "Disappointments" from "trainwrecks." CP wasn't a steaming pile of....wasted celluloid. It just never realized the potential it had.
Alternate titles for this video: Roll Call of Infamy 2022 or Hall of Shame 2022 or Shitshows of 2022: Trainwrecks Division. Vulgarity aside, I like the latter because it's a pun. "Shitshow" is an actual English (compound) word but these series are shit shows. So that the title "Shitshows of 2022" and the title "Shit Shows of 2022" actually convey different meanings. In choosing one or the other, nuance is required. 😎 but without, of course, sacrificing the sense of the other meaning.
Need help parsing the nuances of American profanities? For our friends who are not native English speakers, here is a primer. A relatively recent addition to the lexicon arising from the vernacular, "shitshow" may be unfamiliar to some native English speakers, too, if they happen to live somewhere where this charming neologism has yet to enter local usage. To describe a thing as a "shitshow" conveys the idea that the thing failed to go according to plan, was badly organized, or degenerated into chaos. It is much closer to the metaphor of the trainwreck as Mr Critic means it here. The term may thus be applied to any organized endeavor and not just TV shows. By contrast, to describe a TV series as a "shit show" is just a vulgar way of saying a particular show was very very bad. In other words, inclusion on this list indicates a series is likely both a shit show (bad TV) and also a shitshow (poorly made). Hence, the pun.
When I wrote this post, I'd completely forgotten that Mr Critic actually says "shit shows" in the narration. [@ 0:30] I believe he intended the two word variant, not the compound word. Either way, the two logos for K-BL series shown onscreen qualify as shitshows and shit shows.
BLC Buddy--thanks again for your info and for opening up your channel almost like the old chatrooms. Since you are in the biz, I am curious about actors and tattoos. I like ink but I wouldn't want to see it on every character. Even the hideous wings on Boun in Between Us suit him (not that he isn't lovely.) Are actors asked not to get tatted up or told if they have or get tattoos they will be covered with makeup? Is there a discrimination, do you think, if an actor shows up inked to an audition? I have often thought of this and wondered. I know you are really busy but I'd appreciate your thoughts at some point.
Tattoos are still frowned upon. Having said that minor tattoos like Meen's lucifer sign or Jeff's is still okay.. but in Thailand they do big tribal tattoos and they are not considered good for showbiz. There's one on the lead actor from What Zabb man.. and it is very difficult to conceal... it requires a lot of concealer ( and make up time) unless the scene demands him having such. Though most normal lakorn audition do not require actors to go topless like BL auditions, still those Lakorn actors also need to be gym fit with toned body nowadays. Hence, actors are advised to be lean, and just put temp ones like Perth in My Engineer or Boun in UWMA or Between US
@@blcritic You went all out in your response and thanks for your time. I've said I like a creative tattoo but there are limits. Here in anything goes California I am seeing more ink on the neck and the back of the hands. I think there will be regrets. I know more now about the industry and I am a curious guy.

I am only liking 2moons 3 the ambassador from your list and for the rest i agree for checkout and unforgettable love and some i have not bothered to even check them. I would like to add coffee melody and oh my sunshine night to the list as well.
It was a shame because a lot of the series started off with good plots then went downhill fast. Unforgettable, it was the mis cast. Watching them kiss was painful. Kim character was a big no! Check out had more chemistry but the script was horrible! One series was too toxic they should’ve been together at the end. What saved the year were the good series and I’ll admit there were winners.
I was laughing the whole time😂😂😂.You captured everything perfectly and you really can use the right words😉😂👏👍.Agree with the mental therapy, cuz I started to watch all of these series, but finished only Fahlanruk and The Tuxedo. In most of these series I really started to lack the chemistry between main leads, it was tooooo muuuuuuch Copter and Kimmon this year and now I think I have an allergy on Copter´s smirk or whatever he does do with his mounth in every series🤦♀...
😃If you look closely in Bls the main leads always have some kind of 'smirk'. Is it a signature style? I don't know . There is rarely a well rounded performance e.g Nanon in Bad Buddy.
@@zahrabjinu I think we have a different definition of smirk. I do look closely personally. If it's an issue of confidence then that is a specific and different kind of smirk. I think of a smirk as conveying "pish" "as if" "you wish" and the like. Now that word has been beaten to death!
If typing lol is allowed to express my feeling towards your video this time, my comment would be filled with lol lol lol lol lol lol 😄 Your sarcasm is more sharpened as time goes by that I find it amusing to listen to. I’m kind of ashamed I watched some shows in this list because of the actors’ good looks. But I dropped most of them midway except The Tuxedo that I watched it throughout. Yeah, I have sinned. Mercy me !
You shouldn't have to stand alone on that island. I, too, low-key enjoyed the silliness that was The Tuxedo. My trainwrecks list will excuse The Tuxedo from the roll call of infamy.
Fahlanruk yeah true the level of toxicity in that series I got the second hand embarrassment through the whole series the kisses were horrible. secret crush on you, coffee melody and cutie pie should be in this list I feel like the only thing that saved cutie pie were the scenes in the bedroom and the kitchen counter there was nothing in it just a rich brat trying to get the attention of his crush that's all the fandom just overhyped it🙄 that's my opinion though and I laughed so hard the whole of this video your funny 😂
I couldn't agree with you more, I dropped Coffee Melody because I fell asleep and even though it had MASSIVE hype Cutie Pie sucked! (there I finally got it off my chest 😅) There was another massively hyped one hat I felt didn't live up to it's hype, but I won't mention the name because I don't want to be bombed with hate, but if people really assessed how poorly the story was written, especially the side couples, the chaotic and unrealistic end of a certain mafia based BL they would know what I mean.
I still can't believe that they took that one guy from 2moons 2 and put him something like coffee melody....The series it's self was so-so but I mean come on! What a waste of talent!! The poor guy had so make up on I'm surprised his face didn't fall off. For me personally, my current least liked series is AiLongNai. I mean, just why? What's the bloody point? Nearly every single actor just looked like they really didn't want to be there and the only couple getting my attention doesn't even exist! Some of my favourite series though were big dragon (season 2 here we come 🙌), the boun/Prem one, and Choko milkshake ( last ep today)
MDL changed Choco Milk Shake from 10 eps to 11 and still lists it as "airing." So I don't know if next week's will be a BTS thing, or more of a special ep, or is a true additional episode, but ep 10 certainly felt like the ending they planned from the start, didn't it?
Speaking of train wrecks, War of Y, I was ready to give up on that series but have to say the last story is not bad. First and Toru were the couple that shined in Y Destiny the previous series and have to give them credit they shine here as well. The story of the previous/on the side/secret girlfriend of one member of a popular ship is not new to bl, kinda like how they have been handeling the story, like the girl. But kinda feel they will screw it up in the last epidode. Having New playing New the director is kinda strangely interesting. Glad they will put that series to bed next week.
War of Y can be counted in the category of disappointments... they had such solid storylines.. had they only worked on better screenplay and direction!
@@inconceivabledark thanks. Normally your meaning would be clear, but in this case Mr Critic asked us to list our "favorite trainwrecks" so ambiguity crept in.
I've seen 1 ep of Unforgivable Nights, 2 of Work from Home and 2 2 Moons:Ambassador (which made the first two look like acting showcases!) The stinkers really were smelly but there was a lot of product this year! The rest of the top 10 I'll take your word for:)
Hahaha YES, but how could we not have a Boun Prem series, Even Sun OMG, another couple that needs to retire. Coffee Melody everytime I watched it I gagged. Hard Love Mission, What If, Till the World Ends, OMG how did all these series get made.
I am watching Between us .i thought the rework would be as great as The one done on Love Mechanics but its not. Boun Prem had more chemistry in UWMA.This one is slow paced boring and i prefer other characters like A, Bee & Sea ,the brother Waan & his game player friend.Dean,Pharm,Manow are so unnecessary to the show that its visible. The worst aspect is this show was about Boun Prem storyline and unfortunately there is no story on the development of their relationship. Its slow paced and Boun has this permanent indifferent face from last 4 eps and I don’t find Prem and his love affair with Lays interesting. After waiting for this show i find it so lacklustre.Or is it just me ?
@@zahrabjinu NO Zahra it is not just you. That being said, I have to admit I am one the few people that did not like UWMA, it seems, so was not looking forward to Between Us. Do not like the Boun Prem couple never understood why people liked them and really do not like the Ohum Fluke couple, I think each actor individually is good. I like both Ohum and Fluke as actors and feel bad to see them stuck in this never ending loop. I feel strongly that actors stuck in ships do not grow artisticly, they end up playing the same characters over and over again no matter what role it is. Maybe it is great for fan meets and cranking out promos but not for artistic growth. Just MY opinion, for those who love those ships to each his own as they say, enjoy.

@@blcritic "Money laundering scheme"! Ha--darkly funny as it gets! We have some cynics here and I am one and I love it.
well there is a lot of 'money washing' done through thai showbiz also.
Do you think that they think?
I knew that either "That's My Candy" or "Gen Y2" would take the top spot, but for you to make an exception and select them both for it's wonderful. I still feel bad for Kim and Copter. This wasn't a great year for them, in regards to BL productions.
Missed your insights on the previous video!
But shouldn't Kim and Cop at least look at the script before signing in the contract? I think they are not rookies just looking for a chance.
@@blcritic Yes. this makes me curious in this instance and a few others. Is it low self esteem? A desperate need for money?
Oh we have seen enough Ohm Fluke and Boun Prem for this year.
About whether it is low self esteem or need for money? Umm I think even the managers do not look at the script... just the story summary is narrated and they make their actors sign it.. may be things will change in future.. but till now.. they do not look at the critical success.. they just want visibility of their actors for more endorsements.. and even shit series like Unforgotten Night or Cutie Pie had lots of views and fan following.
I love the way your snark came through in this video. Several of these series I started watching (Falanruk, Metal (Physical) Therapy, Check Out, Unforgiven (Unforgotten) Night) but I just could not finish. I did fully watch The Tuxedo and wanted it to be better, but I am not going to put it on my personal year end worst list. I would love to see you do a 2022 non-Thai BL worst list. Happy Holidays!
hehe non. Thai ones would also be fun.. kbl will overwhelm the list. Happy Holidays David. My best wishes.
David, they say when you return from a vacation that you need a vacation. So how are you doing? I want to see that non-Thai BL worst list too. What is wrong with us!? (Or maybe wrong should be in quotes.)

@@pasguy1965 I haven't found anything new lately. I had never watched Kiss Me Again so I finished that series. I wasn't very interested in Tay New before and I thought maybe I should check it out. @@ronhilton9614 I am enjoying My Tooth Your Love, Between Us, and Oh My Assistant. Good Italian food on Christmas Day sounds amazing!
Oh My Sunshine Night deserves to be in this list 100%, I can confirm 👍
😙 Kidding. Couldn't resist the last dig, since I quit UN after the second episode. [Twists blade deeper.]
@@johnmaster3748 UN is an acquired taste. It had a telenovela vibe that entertained me. It was so bad that it was funny. I stand by my choice and will die on this hill. This is apropos since I've already been stabbed, convenient no? Thank you for the assist. ;)
I hung on for Ping and Tap in Fahlanruk as I thought they were kinda cute. The main couple was hard to watch. I dropped it then picked it up randomly again. I have really never dropped a series because I am not a quitter. LOL
@@deborahw2770 you are not the only one who hate-liked Unforgotten Night. If I'd known you also enjoyed it that much, I'd have toned down the sarcasm. The "already stabbed" rejoinder merits every superlative I can muster.
Actually Sunshine Night though made the initial worst 25, the Rain Phayu storyline made it fall on no. 12.. just behind even sun at 11.
As you have a beat on the Thai TV scene do you have any news of what sorts of changes might happen in the industry? Any rumours about new production houses, executives in the industry who make decisions, genres that are going to be heavily favoured, new or unusual pairings, overseas investment, airing rights to series on other platforms than Netflix? I know a lot right LOL
Ooh. I'm seconding this request. I'd love to hear your insight, Mr. Critic.
The first step is to recognize you have a problem. I was struck at the number of production houses he cited for being serial offenders at producing garbage. It suggests they think they're doing just fine.
@@johnmaster3748 Fine enough. I everyone stopped watching at episode 3 that would be a very strong message to do better.
@@johnmaster3748 I suppose that means someone is watching, even if it's a hate-watch.
@@civivva4501 but but but! I cannot give up hope! What if it gets better, and i miss it? I mean it can't get worse, right? Quitting after ep 3 is like switching off the TV when watching your favorite Sports Ball team just because the Other Guys scored first. Our players might come back, and what if I miss it?
OK, so the answer to the second question is a resounding, "Yes, it can get worse. Should have listened to Civivva and quit after Ep. 3." But overall, you are absolutely right: if more of us dumped a bad series early, maybe producers would get a clue. I actually dropped Gen Y 2 after only one episode, and Unforgotten Night after two. But That's My Candy 🍬 I stuck with to the bitter end. ("Bitter" is not a description any type of candy should aspire to!) TMC was so awful I couldn't stop watching it. Probably won't care either.
Am I the only one who thought "Unforgotten Night" and "Check out" the series belonged to Top 3 at least...
Man the amount of my disappointment I had with them...lol
I so wanted to put them in top 3.. but the other were even more of a disaster.
You mentioned on the GMMTV 2023 line up video that there were 100 BL series set to air, can you do a video covering those non-Thai BL series?
I will do the upcoming ones on Jan.. but couldn't cover all of them. else I will just put pic of all the BLs announced for 2023.. I do not want to make a long video.
Yay! It's the most wonderful time of the year! The time Mr. Critic drops his shit list! 😄
There were some crappy K BLs, but I don't think any of them quite sank to the murky depths that the ones on this list managed.
True the worst K bls are nowhere as worst as Top 5 on this list by Mr BLC.
@@johnmaster3748 OLM was absolutely a bit of ship wreckage wedged into the ocean floor, but it still was better than Check Out.
hehe... true.. had it not for the 2 side couples.. (i do have a bit of soft spot) I'd have ranked it in top 3.

@@blcritic Good question you rascal!
@@johnmaster3748 This is so quintessentially you (in my mind), John. Thank you for the English lesson. :)
@@deborahw2770 nothing entertains me more than 1) wordplay, and 2) dressing up profanity with a veneer of academic jargon.
@@johnmaster3748 And you do both so well sir. And look out world, John is bringing on the puns.
I know more now about the industry and I am a curious guy.
hehe this happened with one of my friend.. he did one on the Neck(side) his name in Chinese letters.. and ran into him recently.. and he did laser but there is still a red patch. He was like those carefree Aussie rebel then.. but now he is a lawyer.
@@blcritic In the BL world, a red mark on your neck means you "got some" the night before!
Thank God I have watched only the tenth place, but somehow I am not doubting your list. However, I feel compelled to ask you to make another list with the worst non Thai BLs. Come on now, I think we have enough competitors to win the complete trainwreck award outside Thailand as well... They should be considered...
I think I should make one... that'd be fun.
I am only liking 2moons 3 the ambassador from your list and for the rest i agree for checkout and unforgettable love and some i have not bothered to even check them. I would like to add coffee melody and oh my sunshine night to the list as well.
Oh my sunshine night was saved from the list by Rain Phayu storyline..
Thank god... this year we got equally good ones and it helped ease the pain of these trainwrecks
🤣🤣
I sadistically enjoy seeing KimCopter bashed. I'd luckily almost forgotten them. "Smirk or whatever he does"---! Too spot-on funny.
😃If you look closely in Bls the main leads always have some kind of 'smirk'. Is it a signature style? I don't know . There is rarely a well rounded performance e.g Nanon in Bad Buddy.
hehe the only smirk I liked was Bright's on the first few episodes of 2gether.. after that no... hehe
@@zahrabjinu I think we have a different definition of smirk. I do look closely personally. If it's an issue of confidence then that is a specific and different kind of smirk. I think of a smirk as conveying "pish" "as if" "you wish" and the like. Now that word has been beaten to death!
If typing lol is allowed to express my feeling towards your video this time, my comment would be filled with lol lol lol lol lol lol 😄
Your sarcasm is more sharpened as time goes by that I find it amusing to listen to.
My trainwrecks list will excuse The Tuxedo from the roll call of infamy.
hehe.. glad you liked the video.. I too have sinned.. esp Tuxedo and Falhanruk i watched every week...
I so wanted to accommodate coffee melody, even sun and oh my sunshine night.. but there were just 10 places.. hehe
I also think ep 11 will be a nothing burger.. though I'd like to see them more.. the time is right to end.
I totally completely agree with the three in your thumbnail! Just, yikes. 😂

I like both Ohum and Fluke as actors and feel bad to see them stuck in this never ending loop. I feel strongly that actors stuck in ships do not grow artisticly, they end up playing the same characters over and over again no matter what role it is. It's true. Mr Critic shines brightest when something has peeved him, and he fires his double-barreled snark rifle. Meanwhile, for the benefit of anyone sympathizing with Mr Hilton about his "gloomy" weather day, allow me to observe he resides in San Diego, where local custom regards "partly cloudy" as the most dire of weather calamities, and sweet, innocent, inoffensive June is the month of the year they gripe most bitterly about foul weather.
