Hey Mau5 I was checking out the Timber Grow lights and noticed the numbers i.e.,ppf,ppfd of the Vero's are better then the Cxb3590.
However they are cheaper than the cxb's. Am I missing something? Why is that?

You should start your guides with how much it will cost. I watched part 1, and was getting super excited about building the light, then I heard the price. Heard the price tag of $1,300 and my excitement came to a screeching stop.

I want to supplement (not replace) my 600watt hps in a limited height 4x4 with 2 of those 90 watt kitts. Good idea you think? And after a while (when I am able to) put 4 more instead of the HPS. Or go 4 cxb3590 for +/-200 watts @1.4a and put 8 more in after a while. Would be great to know if more light in that way good or bad, I just cant put a 1000watt hps in, to low.

Unless you are running 50 w per COB or less , LUMINUS is King and Citizen is Queen.
It would be really awesome if you could design an air cooled DIY COB fixture and put the files out there so people could pay to have them made or make it themselves if they have access to the maker space. Something with a 4x3 row design that could handle about 600watts and cover a 4x4 or 5x5, with room for the pin heatsinks inside and 6 or 8 inch flanges for cooling.

what about proximity of the UVB? i use solarcure and they are strong like yours but to be effective they need to be close to plants 6 inches. how do you determine if the UVB is intense enough? thanks for the great vids. rik
So are the citizen LEDs you used comparable in performance to the CXB 3590's you've used prior?
Godsend! Im redesigning my light right now, based on this design. Your CAD files for this build have been EXTREMELY helpful. I wandered over to rollitup.com and found the spreadsheet by alesh, and digitized the SPD curves for some Vero 29's; the amount of knowledge on those threads is staggering! You and your peers over at rollitup.com are driving this DIY LED community, so thanks for the dedication!
Also, the file for the heatsink mounting bracket is no longer in your GrabCad account. Did you end up finding a manufacturer?
