      Please please do something innovative for us high ceiling growers. I've got 12ft and besides my one attempt at a stacked grow like your old veg bathtub IDK what to do with it. Sidelight and suuuper tall trees?

    • @Th3_Gael
      @Th3_Gael 5 лет назад

      My tuppence on points to cover, maybe worth it, maybe not?
      Going in depth on the planning with explanations on your reasoning and how it could apply in other scenarios could help folk in the planning stages (like you do with cobs etc). Too many skip it or spend too long and don't account for the future!
      Optimisation of space while allowing walkways, possibly vertical stacking given your height?
      Even vert stacking mother, clone and veg spaces can free acres of room (it's what I do)
      Another point on vert stacking is that drying spaces don't need to be big and with a bit of thought can be in the same room allowing easier odor control if needed (and fits perfect with my own vertical stacking)
      Sealing and venting of the area, Inc prevention of moisture affecting your houses structure over the longer term, again something not often considered but costly if it affects you.
      And maybe thoughts on venting via an ozone generator etc for 'discrete' grows.
      Thoughts on lung rooms or closets as part of the ventilation, pros and cons here.
      Air inlet filtration to prevent creepy crawlies getting in, I use panel filters for cars. Cheap, easy to get and work a treat. A few scraps of wood (or anything really) can make a nice holder where the filters slide in from the top for easy cleaning and changing
      Separation of the space for different light cycles etc even if its not in your plan, a few minutes on blender or some such to show simple models will be plenty tbf
      Importance of time saving things like having a faucet and a drain available in the room as an example, a small potting area with tool storage and spares storage etc and how important this can be when shit hits the fan aswell as the time savings involved
      Throw in thoughts for upcycling or recycling things for use in the grow room as not everyone can go new for everything, a whole room gets costly quick lol
      If you're doing more automation perhaps that can be a follow up series or finisher to the series?
      Sound control, again for the discrete growers or people in the next room even, grow spaces can get loud if you let them.
      Option of having all high voltage wiring and drivers in their own dedicated space, perhaps external to the room and the pros/cons (although I reckon you're gonna do that anyway tbf)
      I'll edit if I think of more

    • @Th3_Gael
      @Th3_Gael 5 лет назад

      A note on lung rooms or closets I didn't include above (sorry been smoking 😁)
      Draw air in at chest to face height and you'll be able to see the filters for easy checking. The airs also warmer there helping to avoid condensation (sometimes).
      You can also preheat air entering the grow space or better draw it in from the house and its warm plus loaded with CO², the typical home has higher CO² levels than outdoors 😉
      We all love spending time with the girls man but I think highlighting the importance of time saving measures and energy saving measures is pretty important.
      More time we save more we can spend doing the shit we enjoy.
      Look forward to the rest of the series

      Hey buddy when. You set up your 110volt do a minimum of two runs one with a light switch or both this way when you go into film or do foliar sprays you can easily shut all the fans off without having to climb over anything I set this up in my new room at it has saved me alot of headaches

    I prefer to use white ACE silicon roofing coating as paint. Provides a sealed coat with UV reflectance and at less than 100$ for 5 gallons its cheaper than most paint i find. Wear respirator and tyvek though. Thanks again for saving me several thousands each year Sir!

    • @GrowMau5
      @GrowMau5  5 лет назад

      what a great suggestion, I actually bought a gallon of siliconized roof coating. My intention was to test it on a spare panel first. I ended up going with a standard latex enamel, but I will show & mention this in the next video on : Coatings. Cheers Holy Smokes & thanks for the great comment!

    • @GrowMau5
      @GrowMau5  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Steve, to be honest , it kinda pained me NOT to use hemp insulation for this grow. I probably could have found the budget for it at $2.40 a sqft for 2x6 R21. I went the lower cost route with this fiberglass at a little more than 1/2 the cost. It was the difference between $70 vs $120 for the hemp. I am planning a follow up video with viewer/commenter suggestions & I will be sure to mention this amazing suggestion . cheers and thanks for checking out the video!.

    Tip for folks on mold, bleach doesn't kill it. It just removes what you can see, use distilled white vinegar as it kills the mold and is cheap.
    The follow up with the mold product was a wise move Mr Mau5 👍
    As was the forward planning and too many folk either procrastinate too long on it or don't give it enough thought.

      @GrowMau5  5 лет назад +2

      Hey Ju, I think you are right on the money! I figure you want about 350-400w per square meter, and you nailed it perfectly. Since you have (9) COBs, a little pro tip is to wire it so that your four outside corner COBs can be run (or adjusted/dimmed) to be a little more powerful than the central cobs. This way, you avoid light (PAR) drop off at the edges. If you are in a tent, you probably don't need to worry about this idea. Reflectivity should take care making the lighting even. Anyways, good luck with the build and Muito obrigado!

    • @jufeione150
      @jufeione150 5 лет назад +1

      @@GrowMau5 Thanks for the tip , yes I'll be in a tent 3x3(80x80x1'80cm) , I divided them into three bars with three cob's in each , in a fixture of 73x73cm , on the sides with two clu048 (3500k)at the edges and the cxa2530(3000k) in the middle , and the central bar did the opposite, and both drivers are dimmable , I did the best I could with what was available here in Brazil, once again( eu que agradeço a você).

      Hey Nick, I remember, and I think LED + CMH is a really potent combo. The CMH has such a broad spectrum from UVA all the way to IR. BUT, for an elitist like me, a CMH's efficacy of 1.7-1.8 µmol/J just simply isn't good enough. Top notch LEDs are pushing 2.9-3.0 µmol/J, that's 40% more plant usable photons per watt!!! . For the grower on a budget, CMH all day. My passion is in LEDs. Cheers and thanks for swinging thru.

Beginner question, what is the best American made LED factory built light for a 4X4 tent right now for beginners? Are you going to do a slick LED build for a 4X4 tent in the near future? Thanks!

    Have you checked out nukeheads gamma lights?

      I have looked pretty deeply into those. I applaud them for building them here in the USA. I personally would not invest in one because of the chinese "driverless" light engines.
      The COB light engine is already mid-tier, that is compounded by the in-efficient "driver on board" cob chip. If you think they are cool, go for it, I'll bet the quality of the flowers will be good. I doubt you will break any yield records with that light. But take it with a grain of salt, I've not seen the light in person yet.

    Called 110/220. Licensed electrician is the only way. Not a good thing to screw w electrical if you dont know what you are doing. Dont do electrical on your own. There is rating on circuits you are not supposed to go above. I went to school for electrical, journeyman level now.
    Dont be stupid and burn down your place, hire an electrician to do it.
    When you go 220 it cuts amperage in half because more power is coming into the circuit.
    Maus should have coated all surfaces not just stud material.
    Lastly a CO2 room.. your killing earth!! (Absolutely kidding about that), we are at a co2 deficiency earth wide. But MUH GREENHOUSE GASSES..

    Running two HLG550s, 1/4hp chiller, and a small window AC, and miscellaneous equipment on a 220 and a 120...wish I could be more efficient. I have wet dreams of a mini split

      Rollitup.org was the MECCA for DIY led in the past. Censorship , favoritism, and unfair practices caused many to abandon the forum. But its still a great resource. Reddit is also pretty good, lots of smart people on there. r/Microgrowery

    I looked through RUclips for something like this series. And I didn't find much. If Gorilla tents were reasonably priced, I would just go that route. I have an extra full bathroom, that is just about perfect for now. But I do need a bigger area. So I have been brainstorming myself.
    I subbed up, and I'll be watching.
