      PS: I just finished a mau5 5 cob light for 575.00 for parts and fixture the fixture is the killer as far as price goes...but ay what can I say little bit of money, but look at the end product. better light 1/2 the power bill and much deeper penetration!

    @growmau5 Have you seen the citizen CLU058 claiming 10% efficiency over the CXB3590? running up to 364w at 5.75a per cob?

  • @avidlerner5158
    @avidlerner5158 7 лет назад

    nice setup. did you see the meanwell LDD-1500 1.5a :O. I like the use of LDD bucky drivers to run cobs, had not thought of that. A SE450-48 would run at least 8 3590's with 8-LDD1500 at 50w and dimmable all at 5v pwm signal. sweet.

  • @1planters
    @1planters 7 лет назад

    Hey Mau my friend. Most of what you say is Greek to me but I am up and running with 18-3590's @ 3500k /W 6 COBS per driver and frame and a single potentiometer for everything. So much for my being cutting edge. I blinked...
    I do have a question if I may? What is your GOAL with this build? What are your expectations? Increased production, better product or a shortened overall start to finish?

    hi Growmau5, very nice job ! This Canpoy 12UV is really awesome !
    but, to decrease the price ( 'cause its to expansive for most people) could we use vero29 series Cob instead of Citizen CLU048 & Cree Cxb3590?
    we can easly find this products into www.digikey.com.
    And, in Europe (i'm french) it is hard to find all the pieces to do this grow light pannel without paying fees. do you know europeen providers?
    thanks for answer and thanks for sharring your knowledge

    Hello growmau5
    Very impressed with your diy videos, you really make it look so easy even I believe I might be able to build one. Just kidding so out of my diy league haha
    Anyway I have been doing proper research on how to grow for months now reading all the main grow forums watching every video online dude grows show etc etc and now I'm about to start my first ever grow
    What do you think of quantum boards as a first light? Are they any good and really that easy to assemble?
    Will you post a diy quantum board video in the near future for us diy handicapped people?
    For 4x4 tent what would be your light recommendation for a well red beginner? Hps or led ?
    Budget would be around 1k dollar tops for light but cheaper the better. This light should be good enough for a few years I don't want to buy something I would regret on my second grow, if you know what I mean that's why I'm asking you for professional advice
    Sorry for the wall of text
    I hope you can help me out on this one.
    Keep up the fantastic work
    You really are one of the backbones of the led community
    God bless

    Growmau5, when dimming the drivers from the mau5-x kit using a stormX with 0-10v adapter and an SSR; are the yellow, gray and purple leads from the drivers unused? Ive scowered through all your videos and am still uncertain. Thanks,Eric B. (the one that didnt win the light)

    Hey GrowMau, I heard on the Roundtable you like the Orange, and Tangie...Try DNA Genetic's Sour Tangie, Dude if I was close to you I'd give ya some, you want the full Tangie Flavor, this strain, well at least the Pheno's I got are pure tangie, its been in my garden for like 5 years now. Give it a try I promise if the pheno's turn out anything like mine did, you'll never search for another Tangie cross again, its a keeper for sure.

    how do I know if I need constant current or voltage? I'm want to build a light with 12 cxb3590 and wanted to run them off 2 hlg-320h-c1400b. I want to be able to dim them. if I dim with this driver will the leds just switch off as soon as I turn them down as the driver runs at 229v full power?

  • @mik_88

    Hey growmau5 have you seen the "quantum dot nano rods, coated in a silicon compound"?????????? They are higher in heat tolerance, then normal quantum dot nano rods. Is this tech going somewhere for garden lighting? I found only one video on RUclips. South Carolina university made the new technique that only takes a day to produce. Any thoughts? I'm by no means smart hahaha I can google though......thanks google.

  • @DongleMcspoogleheim
    @DongleMcspoogleheim 7 лет назад

    Sick build man! Question though, with those switches that bypass the controller. I see you have 110v wired directly into the switches from the wall, that's a shitload of amperage to flow through some smaller looking switches. I'm not as familiar with AC wiring as I am with DC; but when wiring any switches into a car, or anything else DC, that said switch will regulate something that pulls a lot of amperage requires a relay or you'll just burn the fuck out of the switch given there being too much resistance. I'm just curious if that isn't much of an issue when regulating AC, and why?
    Your hard ass work is greatly appreciated man! Keep that shit up!

    @growmau5 sorry for this late reaction-question:
    as the meanwell driver will only dim down to 10% and i personally want to dim down to off..
    going to buy a SSR Relais ( a 3-30v like you mention in this video)
    as the ssr relais operates between 3-30v
    does that means that the driver will shut down at 3v (30% brightness??)
    and i imagine its possible to hook up a potentiometer from rapidled in series between the dimleads of the driver and the 3-30v input of the relais?

    growmau5, you at one point used a single 3500k for both veg and flower and got pretty good results. Is this still something you would endorse for a budget minded person who can't afford to get multiple color lights? Love your work by the way and would love to win this light.

    Question: How do you think should sunset and sunrise dimming function interact with the far red on and off time? Example should the light dimm to zero and then the far red leds turn on or should far red leds turn on on 50% of dimming and stay lit until 0%? also what length of sunset and far red do you think is best? Thanks in advance

      While it was a damn near perfect run, I did make a huge mistake on pheno selection. I had 4 phenos, one had a stalk nearly twice as big as any of the rest, I thought clearly it was going to be best yielding, had good smell....
      Fucker came in dead last yield, by a good margin! :( Going to attempt to reveg the winner, while i find some clones to run in meantime, sucks cause i have been vegging four monster stalk ED afflicted plants for month and a half.

      growmau5 Do you have a video that explains how to use a single AC input for multiple led drivers?

      You can hook up several drivers to the same power cord. Be it a cannibalized 15 amp high draw power cord from a hardware store or even a normal old PC power cord. Use the WAGO connectors for simplicity. Just make sure the total power you draw doesn't exceed the limitations of the power cord.
