Hi @HandymanSavage thx for this nice explaining Video. I saw on my Bios i got the version 2006 it was from the Year 2022 lol. And i was searching how to update the Bios on exactly this Motherboard. Thx alot good Job 💪
Thanks bro, much appreciated! Would you know where I can find the list of compatible AMD processors? I've got a Ryzen 5 atm, and wanted to see if I can upgrade to a R7 or R9 to boost the performance of gaming/streaming. Cheers! 😄
For those struggling with soild light nake sure its the right motherboard bios. Or use a different flash drive. I did mine with ine that didnt let me do fat32 option i than switch to one that did. And it worked
Guys if the light stays green it is because its not the right version. For me it was (B550 not B550M) so it did not work but with the right version it did.
I just did this but my build day still says 2023 and online it says the update was 2024 but on the bios version is says 3405 which is the same one that it says online
@@Grimberian72 Depends on the Motherboard, if it comes with a USB Bios Flash back port and has a "button" as shown in the video then yes, you can probably do it without a CPU but you gota research for your own to be certain about it.
Hello friend. Can you help me? I managed to update my BIOS the way you taught in the video the second time I tried, because on the first attempt I hadn't noticed that the pendrive was in ExFAT format instead of FAT32. In the case of the first attempt, can you tell me if there is any possibility that I have damaged the hardware on my motherboard or did it just ignore the pendrive? And if I don't want to abuse your good will too much, have you updated the BIOS of this board to the latest version (3607) or can you tell me if it is stable?
If the PC boots up ok then i doubt you've damaged anything, ExFat/fat32 is just the format of the drive, it will either read it or won't. I've only updated to the version in this video, I haven't had the need to update to anything newer yet.... i tend to go with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra :-)
@@HandymanSavage You're right. I updated the BIOS because I saw that there was a vulnerability fix in this latest version, but I think I had a slight performance drop. I have to see this straight. Thanks for the answers! Success for the channel!
Do you leave the flash drive plugged in while performing the startup? Do you cycle the power after the green LED finishes its flashing? I followed all steps and the LED signified that it took the update but I am still stuck with an instantaneous yellow DRAM light upon startup. Thanks.
I heard that it was bad to jump BIOS versions and that you have to update the BIOS one by one in order of release. I recently bought an ASUS B550 Mobo and it's BIOS is 8 versions behind the most recent, will it be safe for me to update straight to the latest one like you did?
Where did you hear that? Usually Bios manufacturers display the latest firmware, not previous versions. They want everyone on the latest one to ensure everyone has the latest security fixes etc. The latest firmware will have all the fixes from previous releases, so go with the latest version of the firmware advertised.
I can verify this. Not sure if it’s happened to anyone else but I had bought a mobo that was 11 versions out of date. It would not allow me to jump to the newest version, when I booted it would go back to the bios screen. I had to download basically one by one, sometimes I could skip, super tedious but it worked out in the end
Well I updated bios and you didn’t say not to unplug usb when it’s done flashing and now it kinda did some weird shit and it says my pin is no longer available a press set up pin to get it again and it doesn’t even work and I can’t even login to my own pc atm
To quote a saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. If there is a specific reason you need to update the BIOS then do it, otherwise it's worth checking the release notes on the fixes. It's not uncommon for new BIOS versions to also introduce new issues, so it's all about weighing up the Pro's and Con's. I've updated BIOS firmware to fix compatibility issues with devices, so it's down to what your reason is to update.
@@HandymanSavage I updated my BIOS without a specific reason, just to ensure it was up to date. Like I said since 2020 the last time i updated my bios , I didn't encounter any issues, but I'll keep your advice in mind for future
I had an issue with renaming it too but it ended up being my settings to only download from Microsoft store . once I changed it to allow other app/file to be installed but warn me first . i went back to the renamer clicked and clicked on install from other source Instead of Microsoft and went back to the rename it worked . make sure you right click and extract all on the zip file and click on the same file name without the zipper on the folder . hope this helps some.
You most likely downloaded the wrong BIOS file. I did the same thing where I downloaded the B550 Gaming Bios, but should have downloaded the B550 Gaming WIFI BIOS. It worked after getting the correct file downloaded and added to the usb
For those with fully assembled computers that have been working already, your computer needs to be OFF for these steps to work. Either he missed that part in the video, or I missed it. Good luck!
Bruh I followed to a tea, everything exactly the same, got the right bios, held the button, then light stays solid and nothing on display. Then I figured I downloaded the wrong one. Nope. Exactly the right one. Now I’m stuck
then you probably got the wrong bios update. I was trying to fix it for like 1 hour. turned out the mainboard has a (wifi) in the end of the name which is important for the bios update
I don t know if you fixed it, but today I got the same problem. Be very careful when you download the bios to be for your motherboard model. For me, the problem was that I was not paying attention and downloaded the bios for b550 f gaming wifi and I have b550 gaming wifi II
The light stayed green for me and i had the correct bios file. What fixed it for me was putting the 2 files on my usb stick without putting it in a folder

hehe, appreciate the feedback, besides the voice, did the video help you update the mobo?

Is it possible to update the bios without CPU? The CPU I want to put (AMD Ryzen 7 5700X) requires the update
did you find out if you can? i might have the same problem if i am not careful
