This video failed to mention, you can only format drives under 32gb for Fat32. Otherwise, only ExFat will only appear as an option. To convert your big storage thumb drive into Fat32 > Go into Disk Management > Select your drive, right click over the volume and select "delete volume" > Right click over "unallocated space" and select "new simple volume" > Assign it a drive letter, next > Type any mb number that will equal less than 32 gb, next > And you should now have the option to format the small partition you've created into Fat32 for a bios update.
the fucking goat bruh, thought i was out of luck cause i decided to use a better thumb drive
Brilliant. Thank you for this. I only had a 64GB USB laying around and this saved me from having to go get a smaller one!
Thanks brother
Thank you for this. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong!
That’s a lie. Mine is 32gb and it works just fine. I’ve updated bios 5 different times with it.
Just wanna leave my thanks for saving my PC multiple times. I really appreciate it, man. Windows especially can be such a fickle OS, it is such a big help that you painstakingly walk us through these many, many processes. You have my gratitude.
ik, i feel like Britec is the only option, i feel like his vids are the easiest
Thank you so very much🤙 I tried enabling SAM but it took me a little while to realize it wasn't popping up in my BIOS simply because it was 3 years out of date. Followed this video, now I got SAM running with no issues!
Thank you. It's hard to believe the manufacturer doesn't care to publish an equivalent tutorial.
Best bios tutorial i found! very thorough and concise, thank you!
Save BIOS to a profile (Tool menu) before updating. Load from that profile after the update has completed. All settings are restored. There is no need to manually reinstate XMP and other settings.
Really helpful guide. Just updated my TUF b650 🎉
Thanx for the video. I guess this is similar for most motherboards these days though I'd rather see bios updates delivers as a .exe file or via an update process.
Thank you sooooooo much for saving my pc. I was upgrading from a ryzen 7 3700x to a ryzen 9 5900x and it wasn’t booting and I almost had a panic attack until I came across this video! ❤
Just what i needed, thanks for a great tutorial!
Dude thank you so much, very helpful video!
Isn't the bios renamer if you use Asus Flash back equivalent? I have flashed the bios on a Asus TUF Gaming X570 2 or 3 times and never used the bios renamer. I just pointed the EZ Flash util to the extracted BIOS file.
Thank you for your guide! Liked and subscribed
Well Brian I have tried downloading the new BIOS version from Asus but it did not give me the renamer tool and so when I try to flash the BIOS it comes up with a message to say that this is not a proper BIOS. Any ideas why I am not getting that renamer tool. The machine I am trying to flash the BIOS is an Asus Vivobook X712FA and I have tried the Asus BIOS flash wizard and also the USB stick method with no luck.
Yo thank you so much for this. Subbed
Thanks bro, useful video 😊
Thank you for this video. Super helpful and informative, real godsend for new pc owners!
Thankyou very much Brian, very clear step by step. Great 👍
Excellent video thank you!~
Thank you so much I really help full this video once again thank you so much
Thank you so much man!
OMG Thanks for your help, I was soo confused.
Great video, thank you
Big thanks Britec. I love u
Thank you so much!
When the pc boots after bios update the CPU voltage is 1.416v, is that still save? I thought the cap was set down to 1.3v
I dont have bitlocker enabled but is it recommended to back it up if I'm updating my asus bios?
Hello on my Asus Tuf z87 UEFI BIOS update/flashing issue- "Security Verification Failed" What can I do? Should I hold the bios flash button? This is a new build of older parts everything updated fine with the exception of the mobo.
I have an Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2. The latest bios version is in beta. I’ve looked up if I should update the bios to a beta version and most say I should only update to the latest full build. Is this what I should do?
thank you.... it worked 🖤
I did put the correct file for my bios and used the rename tool in the Rog usb drive that came with mobo which is already was formatted to fat32 and 32gb it have also the mobo driver utility inside it am I good to go with it? Can I use this usb drive to flash new bios?
thanks for the guide
I cant download the bios version i need from the asus site even the UK version which people on reddit said to use instead still did not work for me. please help
thank you brother
amazing vid for b650plus owners
Thanks brother
If like me you are doing a new build with secondhand motherboard and bitlocker is warrning you not to update bios, turn off fTMP save and reboot and you won't get that warning.
My new ASUS laptop updates the BIOS through Windows Update, but this method here is what I'm used to. It's always stressful making sure nothing is going to go wrong and the whole thing is bricked.
I'm pretty sure most modern (or not cheap) ASUS mobos have dual-bios so even if one gets corrupted, there is a backup on top of bios flash
@@normified nice. Thank you for this information. I was stressing out
i have one question . after bios need i update firmware ?
Can you use exfat? I am not getting optiom for fat32... please help...
Awesome. Thanks
I updated the BIOS by NTFS format
this considered normal?
Was a success. Thank you
tnx !!!
How about something like this for HP. The BIOS does NOT let you update certain INTEL chips. Because of this it will NOT upgrade to windows !!. It is I7 and it has everything that is required BUT bios stops blocks upgrading somehow. Also I have an INTEL chip updater and IT will not upgrade certain chips.
can i still do this even if I've been using my PC for a couple of months?
hvala brate!
thanks for making a tutorial better than asus did
How to I disable the bit-locker stuff, is it in bios?
Hey hey hey thx for the video, get a like from my side clear simple without too much dandy talk. Thank you so much!
So i got the message for bios is updating do not shut of the system, was like that for about 20 seconds. Now the screen is black and my yellow dram light is on.
The most stressful 5 minutes ever! But thanks for the in-depth tutorial
i restarted my pc on accident after the update was complete, i let it sit for a few mins on a blank screen and now the bios won’t come up..any tips?
thanks mate
Followed this guide but the pc never restarted after its update. I tried to turn the pc on using the case button and it did nothing (no lights or fans spinning). I eventually got it to turn back on after I turned the power supply off and on. Bios is updated now just scared the hell out of me.
Thank you
I downloaded ROG-MAXIMUS-XIII-HERO-ASUS-2203-1 bios update so will see if this does it
is it stable?
I'm scared to brick my board if power goes out.
Thanks ❤
Just bricked my PC dope
Anyone know how to fix a d6? Iv done everything i heard it can be bio issue but idk
Thanks, are you building or have built a new system ???
Yes
is this the same process with linux?
After following all the steps, I get "The selected file is not a valid BIOS file!" . Not a clue what to do now? Contacted Asus but no reply whatsoever, can't seem to find anyone else having this issue...
My brother ended up naming his file xxxx.CAP.CAP by accident. make sure that didnt happen to you as well.
Thanks
It should be mentioned, that if you have Bitlocker enabled and you don't know your Bitlocker recovery key and you update your BIOS, all your files are lost so just double check before you update, that Bitlocker is disabled
im confused you say you drag it to usb flash drive twice, did you mean drag it to an empty folder then to usb?
sorry little scared, I havnt updated bios sense I build the pc
Tq Brian. I've felt I need to do this for many of my computers but always feel scared to do so.
Me too. I have always heard if things are ok there is no reason to update the bios. Then I worry that if I did and all goes well does the bios reboot in a fresh state and or will I have to go in and change everything around to the way it was set up. Plus, I figure how will I know what was or needs to be changed.
@@NealHartsChannel The 'if it works, leave it' principle is another factor why I didn't do it. But with modern OS's and peripherals on slightly older hardware I am eternally curious as to whether they could be speeded up with a BIOS upgrade. Plus the old BIOS may somehow be flawed - which is probably why an update was made.
Mine shows a screen that is black but my monitor is on after the bios update 😅😅😅😭😭😭😭
Same dude
@@chaseo4557 any luck?
Did you ever manage to fix this issue?
Will this work if you try to put a 14gen processor on an Asus 13gen MB? Its basically the bios to recognize a new processor. Though does it work on a new build from the start?
I wonder, do I need the exacted folder on the USB, I only have the renamed file. That’s all I moved over to the USB. I will get the motherboard in a few days. So the only file that’s in the USB is the renamed file, basically B650EF.cap or something like that
thanks
Caution! Read the information given about the new UEFI BIOS. If you fail to follow any recommendations given, a successful POST and launch of Windows may not occur.
Wish I would of read this my pc went blue screen after this idk what to do
@@grimmshadyyyare you good?
yeah I have BSOD now so I am going to try and redo the bios flash and if it still BSOD I will reload windows :(
It wrote me "sucsesfull bios update" and from that time, my pc running, but I have blackscreen. Any idea what now? I have white - VGA and Green - Bios light at motherbord. (B550)
My pc wont boot and just freezes after this. Any tips? Please Im desperate 😭
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME AFTER CLICK YES UPDATE BIOS IT GOT RESTARTED THEN GOT NO DISPLAY mouse and keyboard 😭😭😭
Be sure you have the name of your motherboard completely correct or you’ll get the message “selected bios is not a proper bios.” For my case, I forgot the “WIFI” and “II” in mine, i.e. “ASUS ROG B550-F WIFI II”
When I try to press enter it doesn’t work
Thank you so much for your help.
In the middle of going from 4011 to 6203. I am nervous
How do i do this if im stuck on the bios screen. Pc keeps opening in the bios screen. For 3 fucking days i cant get out of it
i do the same thing step by step but if i want to flash the bios file it says „Selected file is not a proper BIOS!“ and i just dont know what to do :(
Did you ever figure it out? I'm having the same issue :/
@@Lerium nah i just bought a new board with the Bios Flash feature
@@nicofloop6295 I figured it out! I was trying to update the BIOS with the wrong driver. I had to get the WIFI version! :D
@@Lerium Nice! at least one person made it xD
what would happen if my pc crashed during the bios update. Not due to a power outage but like a crash from a bluescreen. My pc often bluescreen and thats why i want to try updating the bios since its 5 years outdated. Will a bluescreen during the bios update destroy the motherboard?
Bluescreen meaning the BSOD of windows? The motherboard has it's own thing and can't get blue screened unless ur on the windows OS
@@rijkaard1579 Yesi meant BSOD. I often get IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL, SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION, NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM, KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE and more most connected to outdated or corrupted drivers. I gave up on updating the drivers because it does nothing in my case. I wanna try updating the BIOS but im scared of fucking up my motherboard. Any advice?
@@iammiry7525 Well I'm gonna start by saying I'm no PC Expert so don't take my opinion as a solid fact.
If it's only a windows issue then formatting and re-installing windows is a good option.
Anyways here's my experience from earlier today: I had to go for a motherboard BIOS update because almost every game was crashing on start-up suddenly such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Deep Rock Galactic.
I even had 3DMark Benchmarks failing or crashing my whole rig. I tried a GPU Driver removal and re-install, that didn't work so I was gonna format my PC, until I came upon an NVIDIA Forum post which suggested that the BIOS Settings are causing crashes. I didn't touch any settings but I did just update my windows with updates from a month ago.
I looked up Asus Bios update and to my surprise I found a Britec video, I watched it and done every step towards downloading the update.
I followed every step, the only "issue" I encountered was I had to press F1 instead of enter since that didn't work.
If you don't want to bios update then I guess formatting and re-installing windows can also be an option.
If you are out of options then I strongly suggest giving a Bios update a go, especially if you have an Intel CPU that's 13th or 14th gen. If you do go ahead and update your bios please wait patiently. At one point I had to wait for more than 10-20 seconds till I got picture back on my monitors.
@@iammiry7525 I understand your fear btw. I was shitting bricks through out the whole bios update
After 3:58 my screen went black and never turned on again how do I fix that
Yea…..
ever since i did this, my pc boots direclty to bios, cant get out.,
Me too
Any idea?
Why does my pc go into bios every time I start it?
ONG SAME
at 3:50 it said, update successfully,reset... it should have been DONE at this point, because it said so. but at 3:56 dont touch the computer at all, now misleading started. i never seen this kind of idiotic bios update to kill the computer. how many "dont touch the computer"s are there? since my pc is dead,. i only hoped that failsafe worked and repeated the process for 6 hours, no luck motherboard blinks a red and yellow light.
Asus has remove the "Renaming tool" I never found it in the D/loaded file
Just had this issue, I went back and download the bios version from website to desktop then opened from there and saw both.
It keeps telling me it’s not a proper bios
re- name the file....XXXX. CAP ( XXXX meaning manufacture as a file name for YOUR specific MB )
It won’t let me press enter :(
I pressed f1 and then it worked! Currently updating my windows and drivers to see if I can run games now 🤣
@@postedonmyiphonewhat made you press f1
@@postedonmyiphone Out of video memory problem? heh
@@-JavCold- I was getting the same problem earlier today. Suddenly after updating a month old windows and intel updates I started getting out of video memory, crashes on 3DMark Benchmarks, Full PC crashes mid benchmarks
these days its so much easier to do this
I agree
Keeps telling me it’s not a proper bios so I’m gonna find a different video after spending 2 hours failing with yours
👍👍👍
Wtf? Nothing but problems from these asus products. I’m following you verbatim and it’s not added the .cap at the end. I’m shitting my pants doing this as I speak I’ve been down one week cause my pc broke and now I’m resetting up. Can I rename it .CAP or is it invisibly “.CAP” oh boy, here we go.
Jesus please anyone reading this MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE WHICH OPTION OF MOTHERBOARD “WiFi” or no WiFi. Had a huge scare but just realized it was the wrong version of motherboard bios.
Bios is updating, and my balls are sweating😢
😘😘😘
My underwear is shivering
These videos never help they bios always looks 100% different none ever look like mine even after 20 hours of searching for videos I give up on these I'd rather just toss the new CPU no point if they don't just make the updates just one click
Why TF is tbis complicated as fk
Yeah YOU CANT DO THIS WITHOUT WINDOWS IT IS BS
SOOO CONFUSING
Don’t do this. It will brick your PC. No post windows or motherboard bios… pc is just turned on not doing anything.
