That’s amazing, i can’t wait to buy it! It pisses me off sooo much that the oem scoop is basically useless, with this system you can finally optimize the air inlet
I have never had an issue as i driven in complete heavy down pours of rain and snow and nothing has happened. Air filter sock is available to buy from K&N to stop rain and it keeps the filter cleaner for longer
Thanks for complement, commenting and watching. I did look into that but alot of the aftermarket finish and fitment was always questionable - I didn't fancy £150 flying off on a track day or high speeds
hi I have one of these for my N18 2011 cooper S. I have not installed yet......all I want to know.....if I install, will there be impact on the pop bangs in S mode? I love the pop bangs and read if more air going in then it could affect latter.
Hi, I do consider to replace my k & n filter with sort of these…. Is it possible to drive with the AEM induktion kit in the rain? Wouldnˋt it breath water and damage the engine?
Read a few horror stories on thr forums, with regards to the heat shield melting thr valve covers on some R56 minis. Have you seen any evidence of excess heat?
Nope never. Done 6 hours driving stints to track days and never had an issue. The issues have arrived when people removed the heatshield from the turbo then it melts everything
I've had this on my car since i took it to them to test fit before it was released to the public. If i recall, they revised the heat shield at one point and made the correction. My car is a 2008 and i've been the same owner since 2011. Still have the original valve cover that came with the car and haven't had any issues. At one point i was putting around 200 hp to the wheels and was a heavy driver pre 2015. My only gripe with this system, is that i cannot find the replacement filter for this unit, as when i try and order it from AEM's site, the model doesn't show as active anymore.
@@nofrills00 it's branded as AEM, but im sure it's k&n. Part number in the states is out of stock for the most part. I think i found a site in Canada that has one, but it's quite pricey. I'm going to give them a call and see 8f they can cross reference one I can buy
@upandatom the intake is back near the firewall, in the same location as the filter in the video. The only items behind the grill are the aftercooler, radiator, and fan(s).
@@mattstilwell1491 You're mistaken about what he's talking about. There's a ram air flow plastic tube in the front of the grill near the driver side headlight that sends ambient air to the back of the intake at the firewall.

It's an amazing intake and definitely worth the money, power and MPG!
I love this intake but raining scare me to drive on the rain, probably good idea to use the kn cover to protect from the water

Very detailed review, IMHO dyno chart is the most important part. Didn't you consider bigger scoop to catch even more air?

K&n cleaning kit works fine worth the money
Its a good kit
What happens when it rains? Won’t that wet the intake? And get water into the engine?
Driven it all year around in blazing summers to rainy winters - Nothing has ever happened to it. No different to the front intake in the grill

I have it on my N14 JCW and pops didn't disappear and i brought the system for a friend with an N18 and his didn't go away either
Thank you!!

Never had any issues with mine after 5 years I have drive in flash down pours and snow - no hydro locking or anything
Hey, how do you identify the k and n filter to replace with the aem dry flow? i am on the n18
This one www.eurocarparts.com/search/909779061?gbraid=0AAAAAD1aCJg_xa488xkqzzU5C_Uy1iu-B or Aem official website tells you
Does it require a tune to get the power?
No tuned needed
And where did you get the clips?
Which clips?

Might be able to find a replacement from them?

So unless you really need to replace it , you might be able to clean it
You know 15hp is bullshit right? It already has a ram air system with the intake behind the front grill. You've been mugged out of your money
Mine was 208 bhp then went to 225 bhp after installing on my N14 JCW
