- Hi guys,
I unfortunately had surgery on my foot 2 weeks ago and can hardly walk. That the ceiling does not fall on my head I have treated for the MS flight simulator. So I can at least continue to enjoy the world a little.
The quality is stunning as I find.
In the video you can see Frankfurt, New York, Tokyo and Darkstar hypersonic jet from Top Gun Maverick.
You can simulate all the way to the midnight sun in Greenland. Add real weather maps or current air traffic.
But the quality has its price. Meanwhile 360 GB are on the SSD and online during a flight more GB are loaded into the cache. The power consumption is almost 1000 watts (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, Intel Core i9-13900 with two certified HDR monitors, 32" and 48").
The videos were created in the Ultra setting, HDR 4K and enabled ray tracing.
But the emotions while flying compensate for everything and makes you almost forget the operation :-)

Technology explanation:
HDR corresponds to 1000 nits brightness, SDR have only 100 nits. Bright lights can be displayed up to 10x brighter and thus look very realistic.
HDR is usually activated automatically with suitable hardware.
Many newer smartphones can often already play HDR automatically. Please set smartphone to maximum brightness for HDR!
On Windows PCs, you can activate/deactivate HDR with "Win + Alt + B" if you have an HDR10-capable monitor connected.
You can check RUclips via the gear icon in the video window at the bottom right. If everything is compatible, 2160p60 HDR 4K is displayed.
For RUclips I had to scale down to 60fps, sorry for this, so there is a FPS counter in the top right corner of the video :-)
Future movies of mine will probably all be in HDR. I'm really looking forward to it.

How do you can use the HDR and it keeps the normal colours you see in you screen? Mine is super bright upon recording on Nvidia ALT+F9 shortcut. But it`s not like this looking on my monitor
Do you have an example? I would like to have a look at it.
But on a side note, the firmware from Nvidia has an HDR bug in Shadow Play with HDR brightness. There is because of this an update came out 2 days ago. Therefore, be sure to install the latest drivers. Maybe it solves your problem?
But I would like to see an example from you to be able to evaluate it better.

@@Stefan.Zimmermann now i see. sorry for hijacking the post, guys. so this is shadowplay save in hdr? i save all time in gamebar and think all time, why it's saved in sdr... i never use nv experience before so was so confusing... i looked for answer in google how to save games in hdr, but nothing was found by my sorry ass. hm. i will try. thank you for this example video, and you GilbertoNovaes3 for the post. have a nice time, guys.

Be sure to activate Frame Generation for DLSS 3. Every second frame is generated by the AI and the frame rate doubles.
To use this feature you have to switch to DX12 (Beta).

well, i did... actually didn't what did you said not to do:) i mean i didn't delete video after found youtube make sdr from that:) do you made something special with saved video, for prevent youtube recoding it to sdr? i use high shadow play settings in-game resolution 50mbyt/s@3440x1440 4k ask 85 so i guess 50(that was set by default in shadow play) for 3440x1440 is ok. any way it's playing hdr in windows, but youtube shitting it ... i have only 1.35mbyte/s upload speed so that 6gb uploaded 1.22h and same time recoded in youtube:) and result as you said sdr... that's sad:)

Your monitor must support HDR10.
Ideally from 1000 nits, otherwise HDR is not worthwhile.
Windows 11 can be switched to HDR mode with Win + Alt + B if a compatible monitor is connected.
With Nvidia Shadow Play, HDR is automatically recorded in HDR. The best way to do this is to install Nvidia GeForce Experience and configure Shadow Play.
@@Stefan.Zimmermann i saved just couple a hours ago:) even download gf experience for that:) btw i don't use 1000 i don't like that and use 400 true black in my monitor is better for me, because 1000 to bright and don't take all that 1000 when light area go wider so not so natural as with 400 true black... so now i can see normal hdr in jriver media player:) next step is upload that stuff to youtube:)

RUclips often takes 1-2 days to display the HDR version. So don't immediately despair if nothing is there at the beginning. I've also had cases where it took as long as 7 days.
@@Stefan.Zimmermann thank you for info... that's horrible. i actually upload second time. video 17 minute+ and account wasn't verify, i didn't know that i need verify by phone for upload above 15 minutes:) so after the verify second time, without your attention i'd will delete it immediately, now i'll look the week or more:) i hope shadow play good enough format for youtube... because if need after save video decoding... i think i'll out, and just delete that gf shadowplay... before i save video by game bar. and that save sdr... i don't understand, why windows can not save just as is and youtube take it as is... with compatible unified codecs...

Yes
The simulation is very realistic. But you can also fly more arcade if you want to, there is something for everything and it can be configured accordingly. You can fly many types of aircraft, right up to full instrument flight. There are also human flight controllers, flight preparations lasting several hours etc., many things here via mods if you want them.
The cockpits are also fully equipped with all electrical devices.
There are also people who recreate the cockpit at home for 50,000 to 70,000 dollars and connect it to the simulator. They have real instruments in their cockpit, which also function fully in the simulator.
I myself have used maybe 2% of the possibilities. Sometimes I just use it as a better Google Maps.
There are an incredible number of mods to extend the functionality.
But war, missiles, aerial combat are not included. Every now and then Microsoft releases a spin-off for this. But in the current Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 there is nothing. In the next upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, there will probably be a spin-off like you imagined, at least that's what you hear here and there. But it hasn't been officially confirmed. So wait and see and check the latest version again in a year, maybe there will be another spin-off for a Combat Flight Simulator.
@@Stefan.Zimmermann I checked Flight simulator 2024 and it will have aerian fighting amongst various other nee modes so thats great news . Just flying around is not bad but gets boring soon
The game doesn't have Ray Tracing
You can turn on raytracing in the usercfg.opt file
@@Stefan.Zimmermann That doesn't actually do anything yet. The closest you might get to actual ray tracing right now is by using marty mcfly's RTGI shaders.
