I didn't expect MSFS to even be able to handle these speeds and altitudes. Great explanation on how to do it too, thanks. And you were clearly having fun along the way!
That’s what’s great about X plane in some aspects they got super sonic simulation as well as helicopters and gliders!
@@pricelessppp isn’t this Microsoft flight simulator 2020?
@@ssnoww it is but some could argue that X-Plane is a better more relistic flight sim, idk i havnt tried MFS but i love X-Plane
@@willfogarty2974 "I havent tried MFS" but let me judge it any way without comparison.
thanks for the clear and simple video. I hit mach 10 and FL150 in a few minutes on my first try.
youre very welcome
Only 15,000 feet?!…
This seems like a good way to get the frequent flyer achievement
Thank you for this mate. I was losing my mind earlier trying to figure this out.
Tried this for hours last night on my Xbox and couldn't figure out why the scrams weren't activating. Managed to get to 3.64 mach every time without them turning on until you showed 4 lil squares to the right of the control stick and I finally just had the thing at max altitude at mach 10 and flew the length of Tasmania like it was nothing. Awesome vid cheers mate
Turn on your fuel cell on the bottom right of the yoke and your scramjet button then it'll work but you have to turn on both not just scramjet
@@edwardohara4045 I ended up getting it when I posted this comment, such a fun plane to fly
I still can’t get them to turn on, I’ve followed so many videos about pitching down 20 degrees until Mach 1.5 then pitching up till 10 degrees. The plane just loses airspeed as soon as I start to pitch up. And when I’m at Mach 3 I press fuel cell and scramjet but they won’t turn on, i just get a beeping noise
I figured out that it's not necessary to go inverted and pull down like that, it can be done in upright position too, but very gently. The goal is to push the plane to a descent so it can gain enough speed. Maybe it's easier when being inverted, I'm not sure. It worked for me both ways.
Its whats on the check list the invert part is to wash of G force and gain speed. But yes it can be done any way but it takes longer and uses lot more fuel
Inverted you can pull Positive G which is better for the plane and pilot. Pushing down you don't have a lot of give for negative G's so you have to go slower thus eating up fuel and time.
I've done the same thing with out the invert. Get a nice level flight with afterburners on. As soon as I hit mach 3.5ish, turn of the scramjet.
It’s easier inverted for most planes, you get more movement when pull back (this is why you’re inverted) vs pushing down to dive. Try it with the f18 you’ll see the difference
The real reason for inverting is to ensure the pilot doesn't blackout/redout throughout any of the maneuvers.
best tutorial, after downloading the plane i got to mach 6 by accident at 40k-30k range just fucking around and thought it was bugged lol now i know wat to do
did Mach 10,05 at 275000 feet, which is max Altitude in MSFS - amazing view, amazing effects
Wow! That was almost sent into orbit like in Starflight One movie.
Best video about this plane yet.
This is very high quality, a great tutorial!
Thanks
@@JetSimmer101 Tutoiral ?... ro wsa ti a msitake? 🤣
Edwards Airforce Base is another good long runway. However, I've taken off at international airports as well and they were plenty long enough.
You wouldn't have got as far as take off IRL, Switch generators on immediately after engine start. You'd be amazed how quickly you lose electrical power. Worse in an FBW aircraft. This is why we have and use checklists religiously. Personally, I'm looking forwards to Heli's on the console. Great video.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I spoent so much time wondering what the fuck i was doing wrong to get this place up to speed! This was a blast to play along with the tutorial!
I would love to watch the climb procedure with some fly-bys!
Funny years ago in Nevada people were saying they seen a jet shaped like this flying out of Area 51
thank man!!! your video is great i did fail it yesterday i try screamjet to arrive landing but it damaged it so video hopefully helpful! thank and keep it up bro
Sup bro its me GlimpsinGamer27
I appreciate all that you put into this, so please take this as constructive criticism. Please try to avoid the fast, jerky camera movements. It makes it hard to follow. Thanks
Just because it was in a movie does not make it real. But is you remember, the F-177 flew for 8 years of missions before anyone knew it existed!
Thanks bro very easy once you get the process down. Only different thing I did was not go invert but pitch down to about 25 -1.3G and once I started gaining mach 1.5+ I slowly pitched up, gained altitude to about 60k ft (mach 3), turn on fuel cell and scrams and BOOM! Only issue is idk how to slow down or land the aircraft 😅
Check my challange vid skip to the end :D have a safe landing
this got my from RAF Scampton to Orlando international pretty quick...
thanks for this! didn't know how to enable the scramjet
Has the field of vision of a tail dragger
LOL yeah the lack of forward visibility reminds me a little of Lucky Lindy's amazing 1927 Atlantic crossing _Spirit of St. Louis_ that featured a freakin' periscope to see out the front!
Didn’t want to mention you flew to 160,000 feet eh? 10,000 over theoretical ceiling and you lived!
How hilarious would it be if this aircraft turned out to be real and Top gun was just making it seem fictional to prepare us for its out of this world design and capabilities.
Trust me, USG/US Military/ military contractors won’t admit anything about specifically this plane until it gets shot down. A “strategic unspecified advantage” over “near-peer adversaries” doesn’t usually go public.
@@MrBlack_761 it was just speculation, thanks for the input
It kind of is. The design is based on mockups of the Lockheed Martin SR72 that's under development at skunkworks. Basically a replacement for the SR71 as a hypersonic spy plane that is rumoured to also act as a strike platform with hypersonic weaponry
Hey, great tutorial. But umm, how do I get back to Earth now?
Watch my challange vid and skip to the decent part :D
Don’t push it maverick!!!!
Wonder why they want you to dive down to get to Mach 1....instead of just flying level at high altitude.
Thanks! This update is awesome, nice video.
Turned off the scram at mach 10 and 275k... That was fun 😉
What is the purpose of turning the nav lights on/ off or the beacon lights on? I was a bit confused why this was required during the maverick tutorial and here as well
To be dark when you fly over enemy territory.
Bravo six, going dark
Scramjets need a lot of air to work. But there is no air in Space. So in Space you can't scram!
Its only ment to go up into the stratosphere lol
Nice work Commander.
Does the earth look round or flat up there?? We need answers!!
Only getting up to 6.27 😢 guess is something I’ll have to keep trying at that speed the plane starts shaking violently
I had some problems the other day with it tbh I'll need to install msfs again as I got a new pc built and test it out
i went to 275k ft and realised this is the end in Flight Simulator 2020 :D
For all who wanna start the scramjet easy (in free flight). You just have to reach MACH 3. Get there without silly inverted rolls with my Checklist:
- Start (Full throttle, gear up)
- climb (full throttle + afterburners) with 15° pitch at around Mach 0.85-0.96
- for the afterburners bind a Hotkey in the settings or click the thrustlevers with rightclick while holding leftclick
- reach 40.000ft altitude
- nose down to -20° for accelerating to Mach 1.45
- With Mach 1.45 pull up slightly (max 2G) to +10° and just maintain it
- Scramjet-transition: while the plane is accelerating activate the fuellcell ((Green) Square right byside the yoke) and the Scramengine (open red cover left of the screen and activate)
- Keep on holding +10° pitch until the scramengine spools up once you reached Mach 3-3.1.
---Enjoy Hypersonicspeed in the stratosphere.
Approachtip for free flight: You can type the ILS frequency in the small upper display. Type it in, click NAV1 ON before enter. You can use the glideslope and locator manually for easy landing even with synthetic view.
The invert is for those who have crashes turned on and cant exceed neg G force the roll makes it so you can pull positive G force which is IRL flight tactic. So yes for youre information yer cool you can do it youre way but tge proper way and faster way is the way i did it in the video
@@JetSimmer101 Great video. Completed the challenge on my 2nd attempt but failed so far on my own. Thanks for the tutorial
@@BsCurious ty
@@JetSimmer101 I play with full realistic setup. I know what you meant, negative G-forces are worse for the plane. But done correctly your highest negative G-Force is 0.2-0.5G. And thats way better than a 2G positive. The plane expirienced a lot higher negative G while leveling out at Mach 8 or 9, even in your Video (-2.5G lol). Slowly pushing the nose down in mach 0.8 is absolutly no problem for this plane or any pilot.. Its also not the fastest way because in a point to point situation you have to align the plane manually after a roll, so mine is more efficient and faster.
@@HELERsx that is cause i made it technically i should not pass 1.4 or -0.3 if following the guide on the 3rd blue button lol
Thanks for the support guys means a lot
You need to turn your generators on. The switches are next to engine reset under guards naked generators. You flew the whole video under APU power. But otherwise good job on the instructions.👍
I know but i dout the aircraft cares when its in scramjet mode as the gens only work for the flight engines
Keep up the good work
124.85 selected on comms = EKVG on the Faroe Islands :-D
Got to 9,85…plane glow red…it was amazing 👍
This is like the Sr-72
Nice video. For some reason I do not get that little airplane symbol in the centre of my PFD as you have. I think it's called the Flight Path Vector Indicator. I have tried changing various settings in the game, but to no avail. 😪
Thank you!!
I’m not sure what happened but when I spawn in my jet starts shaking and rolling off, I’m not able to even take off in it, if you could, please help!
👍
This is literally the USA version of the Firefox from the Clint Eastwood movie of 1982.
Sweet video. What I dont understand is the Mach meter is showing 9 in my game. But the airspeed is in the 200s. Is that intended?
Yes airspeed is not used above FL180 you us either ground speed or mach speed
Thank you bro
I guess I'm in need of some help here; I've done the steps... .9 mach climb at 10° invert dive I've gotten up to 1.2 mach or so doing that but after the role upright and following climb I bleed off speed and do not continue to gain. It happens everytime both in free flight and the tutorial. Could someone help? Thanks
I think you need to go faster in your dive before you start the climb again. In the video it’s Mach 1.5 or so. I’ve found airspeed needs to be at least 600+ before you can climb
How are you getting to mach .90 so easily? Im at 10 degrees up and it doesn’t want to.
Hey, I can’t get the screens to turn on even when I turn the battery on. Am I doing something wrong?
🚨 If you want to get to Mach 10, go up to 200,000+ altitude. It maxes out at 275,000
Also a simple way to do it, is to stay in Mach 1-1.2 at 15 degrees until 100,000 then hit the scram jets.
Or follow the check list like I did and get there 10x faster
@@JetSimmer101 or do it his way and you will get their faster*🤡
has anyone figure out the fuel system? I ran out of fuel on my turbines but still had some tank lit green. I crashed a couple of times and on the 3rd time I started messing with the fuel transfer buttons and was able to get it started again and land but I don't understand what I did lol.
I got to mach 10.1 at 275000ft

@@JetSimmer101 oh that’s neat and also thanks for the video I just downloaded the top gun expansion I’m excited to play
why does my darkstar appear completely Pink for?
would be nice if my darkstar didnt struggle to stay upright like a drunk lol
5900X 3080Ti 32G usually most missions frame rate is about 30~70 ish. But only this Darkstar mission keeps show 7~9 Frame rate. Any idea why for my computer or settings ???
ill have to have a look i havent been able to get on much due to work. :(
This plane is fun as a meme and it's certainly neat that they ported this over into the sim; but straight up, this thing is a disaster otherwise lol. Near impossible to land, that wonky set of hoops you're jumping through to even activate 'quick boi mode', etc. At the end of the day though it's a (mostly fictional) experimental aircraft from a film...so yea it's gonna be a bit wonked. That said, though, did I go into space and fly from New York to London in like an hour? ...yes lol
I couldn’t even get the plane to take off. It kept wobbling and flipping over and was virtually unflyable.
Exactly and nobody is talking about it here I’m not even gonna bother asking for help from this guy because obviously he’s no help, he’s not gonna respond to anyone else’s messages because this video is a damn long time old.
When you hit the 1st switch that turns on the hud for some reason mine don't turn on and it's starting to break my heart
Make sure it's the left one
how did you make your camera move like that?

how do i know when ive got afterburner enabled, using an xbox controller on pc
heahh.
Can you do this while in flight?
is there a funktion to program for the scram?
Incredible, and such an attention grabber.
12:45 - you mentioned turning off generators and stuff, yet you never turned them on to begin with. just a operational error i noticed FYI.
just FYI the gens are for the two main engines that are no longer in use. you would turn them back on when swaping from scram back to the engines this plane has 4 engines the gens are for the normal engines not the scram jet lol
@@JetSimmer101 you missed the point, you NEVER turned them ON. they were OFF the entire time of the video ;)
@@CapStar362 well there you go shows that they didnt code the plan properly
@@JetSimmer101 or you missed turning them on?
or its a GDI error, if they are on and it says they are off. either way, the EICAS or whatever it is there, it never indicated they were on.
no biggie, just thought id point out, based on the display, they were never on.
@@JetSimmer101 well, i found 5 other videos shortly after yours ( less than 48 hours ) and they showed Generators On and Off respectively.
so, evidence says, you never turned them on :)
can you get this DLC on steam ?
You can get it for free in the marketplace it's part of the maverick update
I cant wait to see a real sr72 Darkstar from skunkworks, it will be a crazy day and I'm sure all other countries will be wide-eyed in awe and fear.
It'll have to compete with the unmanned Boeing Valkyrie hypersonic drone.
@@VigilanteAgumon that also looks amazing...I didn't even know about it.
I cannot engage NWS on this craft. Any tips? It works fine on the rest of the planes with NWS including the F18. Some have said to switch to modern FM but i'm already on modern. :/
Im not sure it even has one check parking brake isnt on
@@JetSimmer101 Hehe, you did taxi it out to the runway, or did the plane turn that good by only rudder inputs at taxi speeds?! @04:51 Yeah i've already checked the p-brake.
@@JetSimmer101 Hehe i assume you wasn't using rudder inputs to taxi it out to the runway? Yep i've already checked the p-brake.
@@FN1980a i was using them
@@JetSimmer101 this is the core of my issue, when i try to turn using the rudders the nose wheel doesn't turn the plane on the ground. I don't understand how to set that up. Must be some kind of bug on my end.
i get to mach 1.6-1.8 and then it just hangs there, not getting any faster. not sure what im doing wrong. nevermind did it again and it worked.
probs pulling to mang G and slowing the aircraft down
For me the speed never goes over 670 knots even after multiple tries of this. Not even if I climb way over 3000 meters and fly nose straight down it won't go faster than that?
Youre not looking at the knots look at the mach number up on the dash
@@JetSimmer101 Yes thank you and I figured it out why I was so slow. I had not enabled after burners
I feel it's bit cubersome to do consistently because it takes quite a few minutes to get to scram jet part.
Also if you make even the slightest mistake during climb and subsequent dive down the game won't let you go faster than 1,45 match.
I tried climbing over 4000 meters and if you do straight down dive with the plane motor 100% you go slower than doing 20 degree dive from 3000 meters. Make no sense at all.
Mine doesn’t work it acts like there are bumps everywhere and I can’t take off. What should I do?
check youre parking brake is off

@@JetSimmer101 nope at 200 knots, when I try to take off it just throws me to the left and I dont have any trim or anything in.

I just downloaded your video
I play this on Xbox and when the Fuel gauge drops to 29% the engines shut off and it just drops no way to restart engines or anything it just crashes is there something I’m doing wrong?
You're gonna want to turn on unlimited fuel for this one otherwise it's pretty useless. Remember: experimental (and fictional) plane. It's kinda more of a meme.
The fuel amount in this aircraft is splitted like 45% for the turbine engines and 55% for scram engines, if you set it to 100% in weight & balance. So you can run out of scram fuel after 35-40 minutes in stratospheric flight and still have some jet fuel remaining, or viceversa if you try to just fly supersonic without scram/stratospheric stuff. In any case, you'll run out of fuel pretty quickly with this thing.
bro mine is completely broken and flips itself over on the ground
I have the same Problem hahaha
Need legacy controll mode
Its not broken you can stall the aircraft i experienced that few times too till i got it down
It's not that you need to have Legacy mode on, you just have to change it to the opissite of what you have. If you have Legacy mode (which was what I had) you have to change it to Modern, but if you have on Modern, you have to change it to Legacy. You can revert back to your preferred mode after you change it once.
