Thank you so much for this! I've been away from MSFS for 2 months for summer vacation, so I needed a tutorial to show me around the new features as well as to refresh my memory on where everything is. Wonderful timing.
@@aibinc4417 It's true. I have changed manually the LOD to Terrain on usercfg file to 3.0 and protected the file to not be overwritten. Now the visuals in long distances are better.
Real a320 pilot here! The angle of Attack isn't directly related with rhe 3° descent angle. The Angle of Attack indicates how high you're pitching relatively to the relative airflow (in other words, the ground). The 3° descent angle is your true vertical course compared to the space. Most planes on final approach are pitching up (like in this video) but they're actually descending. The seatbelts are turned on at 10000 above airport altitude. So, if the airport already is at 8000 you turn on the seatbelts at 18000. But that's not the case here. It's not your fault, but the speed brakes don't deploy like that in the air, and you don't usually use them 'cause you're killing Kinetic Energy. In this case I wouldn't use. The nkse lights are turned on just when you lower the gear, obviously, 'cause they're doing nothing now. On the air the spoilers are called speed brakes. Sorry, why was the chrono timing 1h? You know you can arm the localiser before you reach it, right? The approach button controls both altitude and localiser.
Both auto pilots should be engaged on a CAT I approach. Even though you intend to land manually. This provides redundancy in case one AP fails on the approach and you’re still in IMC. The remaining AP will keep you locked onto the ILS until you become visual. When conducting an autoland make sure both FDs are on. Autolands should be conducted down to the appropriate minima. At Helsinki on 22L, the lowest minima you can use is actually CAT II. This requires 300m vis and a decision height of 112 ft. Not, the CAT I minima you used here although you are allowed to autoland in CAT I conditions. Just be aware the protected areas around the runway may not be clear. On autolands there is absolutely NO leeway in minimums! If you’re not visual at minima, you go around! It’s as simple as that. At minimums you need to see the required visual references to make a decision to continue below DH and land. If at any point you lose visual references after DH, you go around. In this case, on a CAT II approach you needed to see 3 consecutive lights of the approach lighting system, touchdown zone, runway centreline lights, edge lights or an combination of these, AND a lateral element. Approach lighting crossbar, landing threshold (green lights) or barrette of the approach lighting system. You had this easily so CAT II was not a problem here. 👍 The only time you don’t need to make a decision on whether to continue or not is on a CAT IIIB autoland with no DH. No decision is made to continue as it’s assumed the aircraft has enough redundancy to continue the autoland successfully below alert height (100ft) should a system fail. This is known as “Fail operational” which is indicated by CAT 3 DUAL on the FMA. If any failure occurs that lowers the redundancy of the aircraft, the red auto land light will flash and a go around must be initiated. The red autoland light will come on below 200 ft if something important fails. An RA, LOC or GS deviation etc. You can continue and land below DH if you believe a safe landing can be conducted manually using the visual references available to you. (this is very unlikely in reality!)

Thanks for the tutorial! Is it me or was your QNH wrong in the autoland? You were actually at 750ft AGL on minimums, no wonder you couldn't see the runway ;)
I'm a boeing fan really trying to understand airbus. Is there any way on the ND to show an estimated descend locator like on Boeings? It makes visual indication easier
That ultimately depends on what you want to get out of the aircraft. The difference between the default aircraft and newer FBW versions can definitely be felt, it's just not necessarily a focus point for someone who is flying to soak up the scenery for example. Flare law on landing has also been greatly improved on the FBW version too.
Great updated tutorial! I just have one question which is. How do you set it up properly so when you arrive at the gate you have ground crew available and someone to guide you in. Is there anywhere you can check to see your gate without atc telling you it?
Airports will have a gate assigned to you by default with all ground services. That will be where default ATC will tell you to go. Either contact them for your stand, or do what I do which is hope for the best and extend your taxi until you find them. 😅
Drawyah how did you decreased the speed automatically all the way to landing without doing it manually like you did in the previous ILS tutorial? I had to manage it because I was approaching too fast. Thanks
Tired of waiting for the pmdg 737 for msfs so Im gonna give the airbus a go. Just a quick question, there is no auto TOD calculated in the FMS or is this not implemented yet? thanks for the great tutorials
Make sure your FMS speed (Cost Index) is set correctly and that you are either actively on VNAV or not descending too fast. Worst case use speed breaks to slow airspeed.
Why in the stable version of the A32NX do I get a warning of "To low - Terrain" when landing on an ILS approach, on the glide slope & the aircraft is spot on with the diamonds?
Stable FBW is not as up-to-date as the experimental, that's just an issue with an older version of the aircraft which has since been fixed in development.
Feels a bit weird that you are using reverse thrust to land because irl i learnt that they are recomended to not use reverse thrust and the same at copenhagen that applies unless it's needed because of the noise abaitment.
A lot of airports do ban the use of reverse thrust on landing, but this is generally during particular times at night for noise. www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=267275

If you have a STAR set which follows runway heading then you *can* do that, but without LS active you don't be connected to the runway localiser and therefore cannot let it control your heading and altitude.
Hello champion, Congratulations for all the job you have done in order to offer a fantastic tutorials. 🙏 Just I need a little advice and help from your experience and wisdom. Hi Drawyah. thank you for your tutorial! I was following along this route but I activated STAR, my aircraft took a u-turn and stopped following the flight plan. I am using the Development version as you. Would you happen to know why by any chance? Thank you!
Yes mate the same thing has been happening to me. Its a bug and FBW are aware of it. Its something to do with the sims flight plan manager. I'm not sure why it suddenly started happening because when Drawyah put this video out, I was able to copy his tutorial exactly. But now on configuring the STAR my aircraft does a uturn and heads back for my Destination airport. Very annoying!
Hey bud. Great videos. Sometimes when I go to enter my ILS frequency into the FMS thing.. it only let's me do the number (109.9 etc) not the marker before it (HK etc) Is this due to the game not recognising it? Because I tried just the number and then my aircraft never adjusted to the ILS.. never worked.
Ah just realised it might’ve been a aircraft glitch. When I clicked the ILS button next to the FD, my PFD never changed to magenta writing thus not activating ILS. Bugger.
Drawyah, at 38:49 with regards to arriving at the gate you say "presuming you have set it up correctly" what do you mean by this? Do you mean if you are using ATC and they direct you to a gate? I use this tutorial religiously. I even wrote the whole thing out on notepad. But everytime I turn up to my arrival airport there is no way of the sim knowing which gate I'm going to as I cannot stand ATC at the moment. Is there another way to do this?
Hey there Drawyah. Just a quick question: do you know if the addons such as IVAO, Vatsim, and the various different aircraft are available for the Xbox version? I note you’ve said that the A32NX isn’t “yet”, so does this imply that other addons are possible?
@@Drawyah I worried as much. I gave up on getting an appropriate graphics card as they’re rarer than rocking horse shit and thought an Xbox might be a reasonable alternative. I’ll just have to come to terms with the idea that I’ll never get to play this sim.
Are people still have the climb issue with the FBW n20x. Having large pressure and temperture changes still even after hot fix. My speed drops way low then I hit turbulance and then the speed jumps to overspeed.
Not yet. It follows constraints for climb and descent, but doesn't yet have native VNAV. Check the FMS, it doesn't properly calculate altitudes, so the aircraft has nothing to base it on other than the 3° down.
@@Drawyah ah ok but the actual aircraft does, that’s totally understandable gotcha, love this bird and appreciate your tutorials and content thank you.
Guys I need help, whenever I land the A320 My rudder doesn’t seem to work properly and the plane will lock into a left or right turn, any tips would be great 👍🏼
I love the A32NX but the ILS is awful - every airport I want to land at tells you to follow a transition point and screws up the path for ILS landing, you don't see planes in real life fly over the airport before making its approach - is there any way to delete these as I can't seem to do it
Different countries and their aviation authorities will have different versions of a standardised chart style. It will look different depending on where in the world you are.
Oh trust me, I've been crashing constantly. I've had to put a lot of time cutting and creating convincing jump cuts between attempts. There are a few slightly noticeable jumps, especially around the x4 speeds. 🥲
Hey drawyah, whenever I want to takeoff, the plane tends to lean to one side and even with rudder, it seems so hard to control? ( I play with an Xbox controller on pc)
dont get me wrong, this is definitely a good guide that takes you through the landing, but there are some things that i wouldnt do. examples: should've pushed the APPR pb earlier. it just makes GS and LOC go blue. as soon as you're given the heading to intercept the ILS, activate the approach pb and it will run like clockwork there have been times where (in my earlier "career" of flying) i activated the APPR button as you did. but it didnt go to GS*, because it completely missed it. by pressing the APPR button you ARM the approach, hence the blue LOC and GS on the FMA, hence you can avoid the aforementioned circumstances you dont "activate" the approach mode, you arm it. - and also the "approach mode" is generally referring to the FMS switching to the approach phase in the MCDU, hence the name approach pushbutton (pb) is more appropriate here with the landing too, the RETARD callout is an advisory for any landing that is not automatic. you had less than 1000ft of touchdown zone left, which if you delayed your retardation of the thrust levers any later, would've caused a go around - which could easily happen with new pilots following this tutorial. the only time you take the RETARD callout as an order, is for an automatic landing - which you showcased here. these are key differences for new pilots to not miss the approach - which is recoverable, but may be trouble for a new pilot - or a go around - which can be very demanding and difficult of an inexperienced pilot. great video nonetheless.
It's all on the FlyPad! Worst case scenario you can calculate your top of descent by multiplying your flight level by three then dividing by ten. ToD = (FL*3)/10
Good afternoon, thanks for the video) Please tell me where you can buy or download a Boeing 777-300ER with realistic sounds, as in your previously published video??

Thanks for the tutorial! Is it me or was your QNH wrong in the autoland? You were actually at 750ft AGL on minimums, no wonder you couldn't see the runway ;)
This is great, thanks Draywah
I'm a boeing fan really trying to understand airbus. Is there any way on the ND to show an estimated descend locator like on Boeings? It makes visual indication easier
IRL the answer is yes, a green arc will show your estimated descent location. This has not yet been added to the A32NX.
Really good tutorial. But I don't know why those purple diamonds doesn't move.
As soon as you're on the glidepath, the diamonds aren't supposed to move! It means that you are bang-on with the approach path.
I loved the tutorial, but at 2:38 you said that 13 C is "quite warm"...
Try living in London, 13°c is a blessing!
Your the best. Btw where did u get this game from I’m trying to get it
This is Microsoft Flight Simulator, I have it on PC through Marketplace.
Is the improved flight model by the FBW A320NX even felt by a novice simmer or just an experienced simmer, who has flown A320 numerous times?
That ultimately depends on what you want to get out of the aircraft. The difference between the default aircraft and newer FBW versions can definitely be felt, it's just not necessarily a focus point for someone who is flying to soak up the scenery for example. Flare law on landing has also been greatly improved on the FBW version too.
Hey Drawyah how do you get such good performance with a GTX 1660?
Great updated tutorial! I just have one question which is. How do you set it up properly so when you arrive at the gate you have ground crew available and someone to guide you in. Is there anywhere you can check to see your gate without atc telling you it?
Airports will have a gate assigned to you by default with all ground services. That will be where default ATC will tell you to go. Either contact them for your stand, or do what I do which is hope for the best and extend your taxi until you find them. 😅
@@Drawyah😂thanks for the advice. Kindda sucks there isn't a system for picking a gate but oh well. Great video anyways!
Great tutorial but where do you find the tecnical informations of the Airport, the trans altitudin ecc
Pls answer me
You will find your airport information on charts. I use Navigraph personally for this, but other options like Chart Fox are available.
@@Drawyah i have a problem Whit the autopilot wen i Activate It doesnt follow the Flight Plan do you now ho to fix It
THX for answering me
Drawyah how did you decreased the speed automatically all the way to landing without doing it manually like you did in the previous ILS tutorial? I had to manage it because I was approaching too fast. Thanks
Found it by activating the approach phase on the MCDU
Tired of waiting for the pmdg 737 for msfs so Im gonna give the airbus a go. Just a quick question, there is no auto TOD calculated in the FMS or is this not implemented yet? thanks for the great tutorials
Not something implemented yet, VNAV is still in the works, hence the descent calculator on the EFB.
Where do you get the baro minimums from? I can't find the minimum decision altitude at ENGM ( Oslo airport )
You can find these on your approach charts, this will be different based on your class of aircraft.
I’ve just flown in climb mode on the throttle following a flight plan but it oversped to 330knots. Any ideas please
@@Drawyah Thanks for the reply bjut I am using the latest stable version 7.3 and have issues?
Ah ok, I can now see that you have completely changed your original answer to my question !!
I haven't changed the answer, otherwise RUclips would show an (edit) tag alongside it?
@@Drawyah I also read your initial reply as use the current stable version?
How do you get your baro?
You can find that on your approach charts.
@@Drawyah On navigraph or just on the internet?
Feels a bit weird that you are using reverse thrust to land because irl i learnt that they are recomended to not use reverse thrust and the same at copenhagen that applies unless it's needed because of the noise abaitment.
A lot of airports do ban the use of reverse thrust on landing, but this is generally during particular times at night for noise.

great tutorial! :D
Thank you, I'm glad this helped!
The plane does not work with the new update, what is the reason, in your opinion, is the lighting in some of the buttons, what is the solution?
Use the Dev version from the launcher to get the aircraft working.
If I use live weather it reports the wrong altitude to atc!!! so Vatsim is a no go.
VATSIM is a no-go, stick to offline flying for now.
Such a nice tutorial video . But couldn't understand your British accent sometimes. But big fan

Hi Sir, just a question ..how can I solve this blurry from high altitude? Any particolar setting I might need to set?
Ground textures are down to your internet speed. The better the connection, the higher resolution textures you get.
Hi Drawyah, Thanks for your video's. At the moment i cannot put the SPD an HDG in the managed mode. Also have trouble putting the QNH in STD-mode. I have downloaded the latest version of FlyByWire. Do you have a solution? What am I doing wrong? kind regards and keep up the good work!
Try switching to classic mouse control, see if that works better for you.
most times I don't have a QNH code from the Metar printout. What do I enter in the QNH if I do not have a code that starts with a Q. ? Thanks
METAR should *always* include local pressure whether it's in hPa or in. It doesn't have to say q.
Does LS need to be activated even tho nav is on? Doesn’t nav follow the flight plan guiding horizontally to runway? Correct me if I’m wrong
If you have a STAR set which follows runway heading then you *can* do that, but without LS active you don't be connected to the runway localiser and therefore cannot let it control your heading and altitude.
Can you do a video on how to use vnav and lnav on the default a320 for xbox. Im new to flightsimming and dont know much
It should just be the same, push the heading and altitude knobs so the white dot appears.
Hello champion,
Congratulations for all the job you have done in order to offer a fantastic tutorials. 🙏
Just I need a little advice and help from your experience and wisdom. Since 3 o 4 updates of the A320 NX, using the installer, the tablet come with problems for me, you can't imagine all that I have made, since deleting the the simulator until deleted the installer and tested all versions, Stable, Develop , and experimental. But nothing and any good news.
The table appears in white color the screen and don't operate , and when appears in normal shape, is very old version, even don't let me load the flight plan from Siembrief! What can I do! Please help me to give solution to this issue.
How very odd. One step that may work for you, delete the A32NX mod and download this batch file from the FlyByWire Discord support channel. It will clear out the simulator work folder which has a few cached files that may fix the EFB in your case.

@@Drawyah Good afternoon my dear friend! Thank you so much for the prompt reply! Really I appreciate it. I will follow your advice and let you know what happens. 👍
@@Drawyah You were right, now everything works great. Thank you very much for your advice.🙏👍👏👏
I am glad to hear it, I wish you many happy virtual hours!
@@Drawyah thanks buddy 🙏🙏
Hi Drawyah. thank you for your tutorial! I was following along this route but I activated STAR, my aircraft took a u-turn and stopped following the flight plan. I am using the Development version as you. Would you happen to know why by any chance? Thank you!
The aircraft should just continue. If not, just fly direct to the next waypoint and the aircraft will head back on track.
Awesome video!!! How do you switch the camera to passangersight?? Is it available on any other plane too?
You can use the showcase camera at the top to switch views, passenger views on all jet aircraft.
@@Drawyah There is the showcase camera, yes. But not the perspective as passenger :(
You need to change it, there are like 20 showcase cameras from all different views. Set it in the main camera menu.
@@HELERsx I think he sets up a key combination to activate that specific view.
So when I press APRH and LOC it will automatically descent when it time, right?
LOC then APPR. So long Approach Mode is active, you will descend down the glide path.
@@Drawyah Thanks!
Hey bud. Great videos.
Sometimes when I go to enter my ILS frequency into the FMS thing.. it only let's me do the number (109.9 etc) not the marker before it (HK etc)
Is this due to the game not recognising it? Because I tried just the number and then my aircraft never adjusted to the ILS.. never worked.
Ah just realised it might’ve been a aircraft glitch. When I clicked the ILS button next to the FD, my PFD never changed to magenta writing thus not activating ILS. Bugger.
Yeah, you may need to cycle through the MCDU before actually being able to confirm your approach.
Yes, you need to request your gate from ATC. The only other alternative is to perhaps use Drone Cam to scout ahead and find where the ground crew are.
@@Drawyah excellent suggestion mate thank you! Keep your content coming. Your videos absolutely DRAW me in to your channel, see what I did there 😉😂😂
39:30 idk why the parking guy looks funny for me
Hey there Drawyah. Just a quick question: do you know if the addons such as IVAO, Vatsim, and the various different aircraft are available for the Xbox version? I note you’ve said that the A32NX isn’t “yet”, so does this imply that other addons are possible?
IVAO and VATSIM will not be coming to console. They both require external software that cannot be implemented due to the locked-out nature of Xbox.
I feel your pain. Same issues with me, and I'm using the dev version. Still haven't been able to complete a flight since this nightmare update.
@@scottevans6765 okay Ill wait Patience is a vertue just making sure I am not missing out on something so ill wait. Thank you.
Kind of shocked to find the A32nx does not have an actual Vnav, unless i misunderstood something
Great Video! Why do you need the second autopilot. What does it do?
The second autopilot adds redundancy. It allows for more accuracy on final, plus minimises the chances of something going wrong if one were to fail.
@@Drawyah oh ok thank you! Ur tutorials are great 👍🏼
Where did you get 220/008 KTS wind? Shouldn't it be 270/008?
Yes. Yes it should. I'm just blind. 🥲
how do u make the engine volume inside the aircraft like yours
This is just default audio levels, nothing special!
Guys I need help, whenever I land the A320
My rudder doesn’t seem to work properly and the plane will lock into a left or right turn, any tips would be great 👍🏼
Check your keybindings, very odd for that to happen!
I use Xbox 😂 thank you for the reply tho
Hi Drawyah. This video is not in the last MSFS version after SU5 update, am I right?
Yes it is, I recorded it at 2am this morning! 🥲
Ok, thanks by your feedback.
I love the A32NX but the ILS is awful - every airport I want to land at tells you to follow a transition point and screws up the path for ILS landing, you don't see planes in real life fly over the airport before making its approach - is there any way to delete these as I can't seem to do it
The latest experimental version of A32NX has a new FMS with custom navigation inputs. Give that a go, see if that sorts your issue out.
@@Drawyah Are you using the experimental version? I am cautious due to it the potential of crashes
Yes, I fly with experimental at the moment. Currently the most up to date version.
The altitude button I always pull it instead of push it. Is there a difference. Also which airport is this ?
Pull is to set manually, push is to set automatic. Pull to control your own air and vertical speed, push to let VNAV control it for you.
@@Drawyah OKay thanks.
My charts look different so what do I put for minimums for baro
Different countries and their aviation authorities will have different versions of a standardised chart style. It will look different depending on where in the world you are.
Why you no have CTDs whereas whenever I use the FBW mod (dev) it crashes harder than a crash test dummy.
Oh trust me, I've been crashing constantly. I've had to put a lot of time cutting and creating convincing jump cuts between attempts. There are a few slightly noticeable jumps, especially around the x4 speeds. 🥲
Ah ok, well that’s kinda reassuring I guess then!
Hi after I shut down engines I get the log flight book come up how do I turn it off thanks?
The only way to disable the logbook pop-up is to activate the simulator Developer Mode in settings.
@@Drawyah Ok Ill have a go thanks.
You forgot about the contraints.
Hey drawyah, whenever I want to takeoff, the plane tends to lean to one side and even with rudder, it seems so hard to control? ( I play with an Xbox controller on pc)
That's likely prop drift, something that happens in real life. Apply some forward pressure on the takeoff run.
@@Drawyah idk when I increase throttle, the plane just goes to one side specifically to the left.
Yes. That's exactly what prop drift is. As propellers spin to the left, so does your plane. Applying downward pressure and use rudder to stabilise.
dont get me wrong, this is definitely a good guide that takes you through the landing, but there are some things that i wouldnt do. examples:
should've pushed the APPR pb earlier. it just makes GS and LOC go blue. as soon as you're given the heading to intercept the ILS, activate the approach pb and it will run like clockwork
there have been times where (in my earlier "career" of flying) i activated the APPR button as you did. but it didnt go to GS*, because it completely missed it.
by pressing the APPR button you ARM the approach, hence the blue LOC and GS on the FMA, hence you can avoid the aforementioned circumstances
you dont "activate" the approach mode, you arm it. - and also the "approach mode" is generally referring to the FMS switching to the approach phase in the MCDU, hence the name approach pushbutton (pb) is more appropriate here
with the landing too, the RETARD callout is an advisory for any landing that is not automatic.
you had less than 1000ft of touchdown zone left, which if you delayed your retardation of the thrust levers any later, would've caused a go around - which could easily happen with new pilots following this tutorial.
the only time you take the RETARD callout as an order, is for an automatic landing - which you showcased here.
these are key differences for new pilots to not miss the approach - which is recoverable, but may be trouble for a new pilot - or a go around - which can be very demanding and difficult of an inexperienced pilot.
great video nonetheless.
there are multiple more technicalities i could pick on, but this comment was purely made for the sake of newer pilots
I needed the descent calculation so bad lol
It's all on the FlyPad! Worst case scenario you can calculate your top of descent by multiplying your flight level by three then dividing by ten.
ToD = (FL*3)/10
Good afternoon, thanks for the video) Please tell me where you can buy or download a Boeing 777-300ER with realistic sounds, as in your previously published video??
Where did you get the charts for the Trans Alt and the other one at?

@@Drawyah Thanks. Also when ever I enable auto pilot the heading and altitude won’t go into managed mode. is there a reason for this?
Make sure you are on an intercept for the route, push on the knobs.
