Great tutorial! Something to keep in mind is that the flap limit is 20 if the landing gear is up. The gear is usually lowered at 2500' and flap 20 is set. Then once the gear is down (should say "down" in green text on the EICAS) set approach flap setting and reduce speed to VREF + 5. Also, once the glideslope is captured, the altitude should be set to the Missed Approach altitude. Keep it up!

Any idea of what could have happened on my first 747 landing approche? I told the plane to descend to FL20 and then past that it went really weird. Like putting in 100% trim up and going vertical stalling and then falling down going too fast. So shortly after I just disarmed everything and manually landed the plane on the runway which ended up in a really hard landing since it was the first one in an airliner in the first sim i play on the PC..

He said, I think, rule of thumb is that if you are at 250 KT and descending at 2000 ft/min you should expect to drop 30,000 feet in 80 miles. I find that starting a little further out from the final approach fix works better, perhaps 150 miles, as the 747 is usually (in real life) descended with a clean (i.e. no flaps) glide down with throttles near idle, and that takes me longer. I'm not a pilot just a trawler for this stuff through the internet. Happy to be corrected. Do real pilots use spoilers so much?
