    1 thing I keep struggeling with is that the atc is keeping me sometime's way to high for approaches. Sometimes it guides me perfect but other time it keeps me at 7000ft when 6 NM out... even had it clear me for ILS landing but said maintain 38.000 feet...? what (note that I set my flight plan in the menu)

I actually left KLAX some 5 hours ago on my first "Cross the Pacific" on my Boeing 747 because I only got the Delux MSFS 2020 with all it's errors or bugs, but finally I got some update tonight before I took of from LAX. And so far everything has FINALLY gone all right. Anyway guess where I was actually heading? Yeah yeah I really picked the right UTube demonstraton on how to use the good ol' VOR settings in that old "Pelican" (aka the Jumbo of the Sky's) and yes my destination was RPLL and when I saw where you were also going I fell relieved man ;) Anyway Happy X-mas were ever you will be in the skies!

  • @thecorporatepilotdad
    @thecorporatepilotdad 4 года назад +1

    Select approach on the flight director control panel when: CLEARED FOR THE APPROACH if being radar vectored (in real life). In this case for FS2020 and sometimes in real life, as soon as you are at the glide slope intercept altitude outside the FAF, that's a great time in the sim to switch to APPR mode. If you do it when you hit the glide slope and you're a second or two late, the AP will not capture the GS because AP's capture the glide slope when the airplane is below the glide slope flying into it, not from above. (Pro-Pilot Tip). Hope that helps.

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad 4 года назад

      @@hansluft779 Nav mode follows a localizer or VOR. The flight director will look for left or right guidance. APPR mode will follow the localizer and glide slope or glide path in a GPS approach. In real life it is possible to get a localizer only approach but the GS is out of service on the runway being used, but might appear to be working. You wouldn't want to follow it in that case so only NAV would be selected.

But in the video the cockpit is too dark to make out anything. Is there any way make it appear brighter? For example, in the 4:48 to 5:30 segment you are talking about the pink diamond and the white line, but the instrument panel you are talking about is too small and too dark to make out. Thanks!

      Hi there, I know it’s a little late but I just bought the game and trying to learn a few things. So I might have a solution here, in this aircraft your map information mode has to be set to either map or approach mode for the ILS system to show up on your screen. After you get the purple diamonds on your screen hit loc when the horizontal Diamond reaches the middle and hit apr when the vertical diamond reaches the middle. I don’t know if that helps but it’s worth the shot!

      Thank you for the feedback! Actually I did not turn off autopilot on purpose as I have no flight stick and its really hard to control the aircraft with my keyboard. Once I get a flight stick you should notice smoother landings :)

    When do you normally disengage the autopilot?

      when im established on final approach I disengage autopilot but, its up to you when you want to hand fly the aircraft.

    Can you do also a video for instructions when you abort the approach? I use the AP but sometimes it happens because ATC tell me to late to go down in altitude (don't know if a bug or real), so sometimes I'm too high and have to abort the landing via ATC also, after that I cannot find a way to reach again the approch via LNAV, they tell me the HDG when I request etc, but I don't know how to try again the same approach and landing via AP. LOC or APPR doens't work then. Thank you :)
    For example, I was doing the same, abort the approach, that tried to fly around the airport but LOC wasn't effective like here in your video, nothing happens.

      @@Decivye thank you, exactly a simulation when you miss the landing or the altitude, you pass it and what to do next to land again. Via AP if possible 🙂 thanks!

    Finally got my hands on FS2020 his past weekend. Really had to research how the systems work compared to FSX and this video is much help.
    New sub here, what are your thoughts on the ATC interactions. Kinda thrown off by the vectoring or the request vectors in real life.

      Glad this helped you out! Not much thoughts on ATC but I think its simple enough for newer players!
