Hey bud. I did everything this guy said in the pre flight planning but when I press the route legs. I doesn’t show the altitude and speed and heading the plane should be at at certain waypoints. How can I fix that
B747-8 captain here. You never turn on both power switches before you’re load complete. Doing so removes power from the main deck. Power number two goes on during the before start flows.
I'm just devouring what else you got since you made me do my first A to B with fms in the A320.. Your videos are so short and SO f#cking on point! Very good brother!
You didnt mention to switch the overhead panel to nav on start. Thats why a lot of us are getting confused with the pfd being blank. I figured it out though. Thanks for everything else. Lol
This tutorial is outdated. Can we get an updated one? I created the flight plan and followed every step, but when I get to the flight computer, the V1, VR, and V2 speeds don’t show up like yours. Seems like lots of other people are having the same problem. Thanks
Yes I’ve been learning from PC players but these are perfect. Learning A+B sets engines to idle is the best thing I’ve learnt, I was always overshooting the runway before he passed on this nugget of wisdom!
Awesome video thank you, I’m using an Xbox S which might be the issue but I’m having inconsistent cockpit control issues with the mouse and controller?? Sometimes I’m able to activate levers and switches and other times its a chore or not at all, very frustrating
Great work! You helped me, among many others. I don't say this very often, you deserve more than 3k subs. For this brilliant content. Keep up the great work!
Can I just say that the only time the beacon (anti col) is on is the the second it is ready to push back and then when it’s landed they turn it off when the engines have spoiled down and the aircraft is safe to approach and the pilots don’t request for ground equipment then have to be on the aircraft all time unless it not scheduled to go out hope this help for any interested in aviation:)
For the sake of this tutorial I was able to stabilize the 747 (Xbox / s) and follow the path from the fms without turning around by itself. the trick was first activate the autopilot and then press lnav vnav. Thengs alot.
I followed your previous video on setting up a flight plan. Copied what you did but I don't have any speed or altitudes when I go to the 'legs' page on the FMC. Do you need to enter them manually?
Just bought an X. box series S., I have it hooked up to a 55" 4k Qled TV I have lot to learn so looking forward to many more of your video's. Thank you.
Just a few questions: 1. How do you know what your takeoff flaps should be? 2. If i use a flight plan when in the world map, will the plane automatically be configured for that flightplan?
Anybody struggling with getting your map display to show vector waypoints. You need to set the L-C-R knobs to NAV (the top left of the overhead panel) Leave them for a couple of minutes to align (you can observe this yourself at the top left corner of the map) Then go to INIT REF - POS - press the side bar key for GPS POS (copy to clipboard) - then press the sidebar key next to SET IRS POS (paste info) This should have your map in the same mode as the a320 to easily follow the vector points and gauge when to descend or decrease speed etc.
Many thanks James as you stated I was fumbling around wondering what the ? Now I can get my own flight plan thanks to you Sir I appreciate it very much
Brilliant video, in fact the FS videos have all been really informative, thanks to you, I'm now moving from the smaller prop planes (the Baron & Diamond etc) onto the jets. Awesome job 🙂
I have buttons mapped to nws and I use it for all my planes but it doesn’t work for the 747. The only way I can cold and dark is if I then slew mode through taxi and turn off wind since I can’t turn. Help????
I have a question. so almost every time I do the exact things you do and the screens will never turn on or if they do turn on they turn off again later does anyone know what the problem is? And when I press the external power, it won’t do anything it just doesn’t turn on
The flight computer in this plane doesn't work like this anymore. Data doesn't load for the legs, the takeoff page is different, and when you enter a flap angle, it deletes the takeoff speeds. Totally broken for now....a shame. I can only fly it manually anywhere, which is not a simulation.
It's just so bizarre how I can follow every step and still see different things and get different results. For example, I turned on the APU just like he did, but I never got a push back. I entered my flight plan just the way he showed, but in the FMS the legs had no altitude or speed associated with each. So frustrating.
Not getting push back could be because you dont have AI co Pilot turned on. In such a case you can request pushback manually by contacting ATC, I'm not sure bout the FMS though, try following my flight plan guide first and see if that helps.
@@leojames7331 I've got the same. it looks like it's not carrying over all the information from the flight plan such as crz alt, cost index and some others... If I fill those in it then calculates the speeds and altitudes. Problem is, using the flight plan like built into MSFS I don't actually know the values required.
Some reason ext power lights dont say if its on or when available cant toggle flight director and no numbers when adjusting crz alt or take off speed come on 🤷
BTW, at 4:55 you activate the icon of the "flighttower"? I have been searching for that one for weeks now, but i cant get it up there in the bar? Can you help me out?
I saw the video on how to set up the FMS on the A320, but not the 747. They’re similar but I don’t think you set it up the exact same way. Can someone point me to the video he’s talking about?
I have a intercontinental flight to the Caribbean from Manchester but my flight plan speed and height just doesn’t seem to show up on the flight management computer ( the checkpoints do) And there is no line on the navigation screen so you maybe know what could be wrong? And at the init ref I don’t get the options
I have AI ATC communication on but pushback and taxi clearance don't automatically start, I have to request it myself. Is there another option I have to turn on somewhere?

Hi james, i know its been long since you posted, i just have a question about what to do if my A330 is suddenly pink with just patterns. mind posting what to do? would love it thanks.
Nice video, but just one thing, in real world aircraft speak, aircraft descend to a lower altitude, but climb to a higher altitude. The reason we don't use ascend is because it could be confused over the radio with an instruction by ATC to descend.
747 or A320, whats your favourite?
Whichever I crash land the least 🤣
Starting to really like the A320 tbf, was always a 747 fan to begin with
Gonna go 747...for now
I’m somewhat competent with the A320 but the bigger the better!
A320
You explained in 15 min what some people take around 30 min to teach, and such a better explanation it is. Thanks buddy

I made the same flight plan in the world map and my legs do not show speed and altitude. Same with my take off config. Should these auto config?
When I go into a game and have created a flight plan the fmc just forgets everything please someone help!
