Great video! Couple of things: - You use the GPS position not the airport reference for aligning...(as you hardly ever park at the reference point of the airport) -Generally you build the route starting with a SID, for that you get the ATIS, once you have the SID in you can build the route from there (in real life you request the route most of the time but I am unsure if that's an option) -On the MCP you set V2 not rotate speed. - You start all fuel pumps together with the hydraulics once the ground crew gives clearance to pressurize hydraulics. -there is no need to see N1 to put the fuel control switch to run and you start both engine at the same time on the 787. -(In most boeing aircraft you start the inboard engine first so when the tug is turning you you want the minimum moment to push against) -if you are flying from the left seat normally the EICAS is on the right and you have a big ND screen. -We do not look at any system pages unless something is wrong or we are operating a specific system. -We leave taxi and turnoff lights on for take-off. - You programmed an sid, a route, also an altitude, so normally you would arm LNAV and VNAV on the stand ...and it would activate at 50' +400' I am flying the 787 so I did not mean to pick on you as what you do is generally correct but I thought you would wanna know some details :)
Thank you for this! It is so awesome that real world pilots are chiming in for this community. If you stream this game it would be SO cool to see a FULL real world cold and dark startup from an actual 787 pilot. The 787 is the prettiest plane ever conceived (in my opinion), I hope to fly it one day. Too bad I am at 1500hrs and SkyWest is not hiring :( Oh well, we have this to hold us CFIs over until hiring opens up again.
I still think I am part of the simulator community, in fact I started flying simulators way before the real things (in 1996 😁) I do not have a proper PC for this game...but if someone wants to do a real setup and demonstrate it online i could help to make that happen. Will dive into the Dreamliner for a flight tonight. Just finishing setting up my Graphics (Managing to squeeze out High End with FPS35 with cloud and rain, so hopefully this will be good enough to fly), then got to setup my controls and camera. When entering the runway you don't turn off the taxi lights. You take off with it on, land with it on. In fact all lights go on during takeoff and landing including the runway turn-offs except the wing and logo lights which depend on weather and time of day.
I’m playing on the series x. Msfs just came out and there seems to be a few bugs with autopilot and flight planning. Sometimes the waypoints do not connect while I use simbrief and when I use the fms to plug in my arrival runway etc, the autopilot disconnects. I hope they fix this! Great video

One thing I'm confused about is the flight plan. do you create one in the menu before starting the sim, or do you start without a flight plan and only use the waypoints from simbrief?
What are your thought on the new inbuilt flight planner? I feel it could really help someone who is new to flight sim. I've switched to it because of the ease of use, but i am missing details using it.
Are you starting with IFR (high altitude airways)? also are you leaving the arrival bar in the world map empty? Just wanna do it right when I go to program a flight plan.
@@Drawyah awesome thanks. Also if SimBrief gives me a runway to take off from but ATC tells me a different runway, what would be the procedure for inputting departure runway into MCDU?
There has been a cut to avoid a bug with APU generator. I don't see why you would avoid talking about it. In the entire video, you never touch the APU switch, and yet, between 0:57 and 8:21, it magically switches on. The 787 in MSFS has a bug. For a "tutorial" on how to start the plane up, it's sad.
hi, my autopilot doesnt work using the MSFS2020 787? Ive followed your vid, but once engaged it just flys straight and not follow the plan. Any suggestions? Thanks
Thanks for the great video! However, I have a question, my aircraft did not follow the planned routes, It went off course and seemed to be heading direct to the destination airport. I also got LNAV and VNAV on. Thank you in advance.
Hello! Quick question. Where are the seatbelt and no smoking sign buttons located in a 787? Just got the Premium Deluxe upgrade, and i really wanna know. Thanks!
Is there anyway to use „Direct to“ in the current state of the aircraft? I didnt really figure it out yet and this is essential for Vatsim. Thanks for any help!
Yes you can. There isn't a direct to button, but you can go direct to fixes and or airports. You would have to rebuild the route a little bit the same way he did it in the setup. The FMC looks at departure and destination. If you have waypoints in the legs/route it will go to those points first in order before the destination. You can add and delete waypoints to make the route you want. That would be the only way to go direct but you can do it. I've done it many times. The FMCs do not work like real boxes, but when they do, they will be much easier to use. The current state of the FMCs/FMSs is awful.
Like anson chain i am also looking for when you start the apu as via the checklist it says "when apu available" but how do i know WHEN it is available?

Hi Drawyah ! I followed this tutorial step by step, everything went on well until it was time to switch on the fuel pumps, they won't just switch on hence the engines do not start. Please help !!!
I don't know if this is a new bug, but the autopilot screen (and only this) is completely black so I can't see what altitude or vertical speed I set ...
My ATC is greyed out and i cant actually select it to do anything at all. Even using the shortcut to bring up the interface doesnt work. I have all of this set to manual too. Any idea whats going on with that?
I'm learning to fly this plane in game, and I'm having problems with the FMS Config when it comes to routing. Is there a source material for inputs for the waypoints and airways? I'm trying to get it set to fly from Seattle (KSEA) to Cebu (RPVM) or even Narita (RJAA), but I don't know the waypoint/airway codes.
As I explain 30 seconds in, have a flightplan ready from simBrief which will include your entire routing and calculations for the FMS. ruclips.net/video/K7Y_OZH0J5g/видео.html
@@Drawyah I've noticed something odd while traveling at a high cruising altitude (39,000ft). The plane flies rather slow as going over 300 knots is considered overspeeding, despite the 787's cruising speed being 487.49 knots (561 mph), thereby making a nonstop flight from Seattle to Orlando much longer than it should (nearly over 8 hours compared to the usual 5hrs 30mins). Is there a way to remove the speed limiter, or is this feature built into the game and we can't do anything about it?
How do you switch to those different angles to look at those panels? Are there any special commands for this? And are there any tips to taxi with smooth turns?
Hey I was just hoping if you can help me I'm trying to fly the 787 in the aim but I use the main menu to file my flight plan but when I enter the sim I dont see it but when I check the vfr map I can see it
Great video tutorial! A minor gripe about the simulation: why does it feel like (as with other sims) that the airplane is floating on the runway and sliding around when taxiing (clearly noticable in external camera views when landing gear is visible). As if the tires aren't in contact with the ground and the whole airplane is just a huge hit box sliding around on the runway. Surely that can be improved, right?
may I ask why is the your boeing787 got more funtion then the one I have? I can’t even run the engine start button and there no light on when I press any of the light button ? Is this a bug for me or you are using a 787 mod ?
How do you get the auto throttle to work? I have the same settings but I have to manually keep moving the throttle to prevent overspeed / stall. I have select the AT & AP button, set the speed but it just ignores it. I think I've seen it working twice but can't seem to get it to work every time.
Great video!
Couple of things:
- You use the GPS position not the airport reference for aligning...(as you hardly ever park at the reference point of the airport)
-Generally you build the route starting with a SID, for that you get the ATIS, once you have the SID in you can build the route from there (in real life you request the route most of the time but I am unsure if that's an option)
-On the MCP you set V2 not rotate speed.
- You start all fuel pumps together with the hydraulics once the ground crew gives clearance to pressurize hydraulics.
-there is no need to see N1 to put the fuel control switch to run and you start both engine at the same time on the 787.
-(In most boeing aircraft you start the inboard engine first so when the tug is turning you you want the minimum moment to push against)
-if you are flying from the left seat normally the EICAS is on the right and you have a big ND screen.
-We do not look at any system pages unless something is wrong or we are operating a specific system.
-We leave taxi and turnoff lights on for take-off.
- You programmed an sid, a route, also an altitude, so normally you would arm LNAV and VNAV on the stand ...and it would activate at 50' +400'

I followed this tutorial step by step, everything went on well until it was time to switch on the fuel pumps, they won't just switch on hence the engines do not start. Please help !!!
I don't know if this is a new bug, but the autopilot screen (and only this) is completely black so I can't see what altitude or vertical speed I set ...
your voice reminds me of a english version of steven hawking
Steven Hawking...was English?

My ATC is greyed out and i cant actually select it to do anything at all. Even using the shortcut to bring up the interface doesnt work. I have all of this set to manual too. Any idea whats going on with that?
Hi, do you feel the calculated V1 and VR are too high? My plane start to nose up around 140 knots
It's normal for the plane to try to rotate before VR, you just have to keep the nose down before reaching VR
Doesn’t 787 start both engines at the same time since they use electric starters not bleed air ?
I've heard there is Autopilots issues with the Boeing aircraft of MSFS. Is this still an issue?
How to assign reverse thrust and TOGA? Normal control settings don't work
I've assigned my reversers to 'Decrease Throttle', it seems to do the trick!
You were flying class B airspace under 10000, and got over 250knots while still climbing.

@@Drawyah Somehow missed that. Thanks!
Not a problem, I hope it helps!
Check your groundspeed, not your airspeed. Two very different values, the aircraft is correct.
Hi Drawyah on takeoff did you activate to/ga please 👍
No, but technically you should. Small black button on the throttle.
@@Drawyah Thankyou very much my friend stay safe take care 👍
doesn't this have payload fuel and simbrief integretion ?
Does the download for the 787 replace the 747 in the plane selection or does it keep the 747 and add a whole new 787 to choose from?
The 787 only comes with the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS. If you only have Standard or Gamepass, you don't get a 787.
hello do you have to program fmc everytime or create flightplan at beginning many thanks
You don't have to if you're not flying a route.
@@Drawyah Thankyou
How do you switch to those different angles to look at those panels? Are there any special commands for this? And are there any tips to taxi with smooth turns?
hold right ctrl+alt+any number to set it then use alt+any number to go to it.
Hey was the APU bit skipped? It magically turned on with a cut in the video.
Yep! Completely forgot to add that bit to the video. Left on the cutting room floor. 😅
Hey I was just hoping if you can help me
I'm trying to fly the 787 in the aim but I use the main menu to file my flight plan but when I enter the sim I dont see it but when I check the vfr map I can see it
for some reason when i load up the 787 i dont see any numbers on the MCP digit dials (heading, altitude, speed ect) :( help!
Where do you get the routing info from
Was wondering the same.
Simbrief.com
Could you pls do a mid flight and landing tutorial as well pls? Thx.
Landing tutorials on the way!
hm, I'm not seeing SET IRS POS in my FMS. In fact, my FMS is quite different. Has this process changed over the years?
The process has changed with updates to the default 787 in MSFS.
Can you fly a VOR to VOR route to test the VOR function please ? Thanks.
may I ask why is the your boeing787 got more funtion then the one I have? I can’t even run the engine start button and there no light on when I press any of the light button ? Is this a bug for me or you are using a 787 mod ?
No mods, this is vanilla!
Does the EICAS CHECKLIST work? Can you look at Normal and Non Normal checklist? Thanks
Nope!
Drawyah Thanks! That needs improvement!
Hi, how did you engage the autothrust on take off?
After rotate you can click on the A/T button to enable Autothrottle.
@@Drawyah neg, I meant for applying thrst take off power since zero speed once lined up
@@Drawyah I found it, there is alittle trigger point on the left side of throttle..very little!
hi, is possible to perform a DIRECT to pint in FP? HOW?
How do you get the auto throttle to work? I have the same settings but I have to manually keep moving the throttle to prevent overspeed / stall. I have select the AT & AP button, set the speed but it just ignores it. I think I've seen it working twice but can't seem to get it to work every time.
Check your FMS to see if it has a speed set, if not then use the speed selector in Mach mode.
What about windshield anti ice???
