My es300 is 21 years old--I've taken good care of it and it's still beautiful and luxurious to drive. People have left notes on the windshield asking to buy it.
With my 99 solara with the same 3.0 engine I've had multiple mechanics ask to buy it cause they know how long these things last build quality is so amazing on early 2000s late 90s toyotas/lexus
@@MrTD714 the Es300 is known to last well over 300,000 miles .same engine and tranny.. I plan on getting either an es300 from 99-03 or a camry..both are BULLETPROOF😎😎
Interiors are the easiest thing to maintain. I have a 1991 Peugeot, car's been in more wrecks than I have fingers to count and yet the interior is on-par with this Lexus.
It’s particularly easy to maintain leather interiors. I use Connolly Hide Care, (aka Bentley and Rolls-Royce’s Hide Food) every three months. It must be stored inside because it’s natural and needs to be in a tempered environment. This product gives the scent that British cars are known for and it’s amazing.
And I bet she said she’s gonna keep it forever. And I don’t blame her. Those old LS and SC were solid. Good friend of mine had a 94 SC400 that we used to ride to high school in. That car was so sweet. And for a 16 yr old kid, it was like having a Bentley
I bought a 2007 Lexus ES350 13 months ago on Scotty's recommendations... best darn car I've ever bought. 13 year old car and not 1 single problem with it. Changed the oil, transmission ATF, power steering fluid, and coolant. The thing truly does run like a clock! THANK YOU SCOTTY!!
The legend says that 5 billion years from now, when our Sun has begun to cool down and turn into a White Dwarf, the Lexus, that Scotty got for his wife way back in the 21st Century will still be running smoothly...🤔
It's a white dwarf! when our Sun runs out of hydrogen fuel, it will expand to becomea red giant, puff off its outer layers, and then settle down as a compact white dwarf star, then slowly cooling down for trillions of years.
Thanks for another update, Scotty!! I just bought myself a 2005 Lexus ES 330 after watching your videos, and I love this car!! I'm never gonna listen to car journalists' recommendations any more because all they care about how "fun" it is to drive and the 0-60 times. They don't know/care about maintenance costs and reliability.
I just discovered you! Love your posts! I have a 2004 Lexus RX 330. Just passed 200,000 miles. I had the timing belt changed , new water pump, new radiator, condenser all changed within the last 6 months. I’ll drive it another200,000 miles! All equipment still works! Best car I’ve ever had!!
My 1995 Lexus SC400 with 135,000 miles still runs like brand new. I get compliments on it all the time, and it looks damn sexy in red. I will never sell that car, and its built better than 95% of the cars that they sell today.
@@ha_ha-ha_ha The Lexus SC400 is a must own. I suggest getting a 1995-1996 model year. The previous owners had cared for the car extremely well, and it came with a stack of maintenance records done at the Lexus Dealership, and had the exhaust upgraded.. IMO, red is the best color and I looked all over the country to find the perfect red SC400. I love that car so much.

I've had to drop around $2k in repairs in just 3 years on my 1998 V8 Lexus GS400. I bought it for $3k with 200k miles on it. AC doesn't work, heated seats don't work, but at least there is little rust (was well maintained), and the motor and trannie are going strong. Can't see dropping $1,500 for a new AC compressor/repair though. Not sure what the heated seat repair would cost me. Just can't afford any more repairs. Hoping nothing else breaks anytime soon and hoping to get 400k+ miles out of it.
Preach it, Brother Scotty. As an owner of BMWs for several years prior to buying my '13 GS 350 (yes, it has the ugly grille, but not so glaringly bad as later models), I can say without a doubt that the GS is equal or better in most significant ways to a non-M Bimmer with WAY less anxiety-inducing dashboard lights coming on ... none have ever come on in the GS, in fact. Lexus truly makes outstanding cars.
260K on my 03 ES300. Best car I’ve ever owned. Never had any major issues to this day. My only gripe is the slow acceleration, but like Scotty said it’s not a race car.
My old 97 Es300 would shoot out the gate . Front wheel drive and took me no time to get to 30 from a dig. I would check my O2 sensors and spark plugs if i was you 🤝🏾
Me too...almost 200000 miles. Just had to replace radiator and a bunch of seals and belts. 3000 dollars at Toyota dealer. Well worth the expense for a 15yr old car.
It’s just one of those things that you know it’s worth to keep it,because other than just regular maintenance, I’m sure you could get 500,000 miles without any problem
That's because you SHOULD buy a Lexus! I bought a new one 3 yrs ago and, due to his advice and my experience, will always buy a used Lexus from now on.
@Todd m I'd never bought a Japanese car before now - only American & German. German cars are fabulous to drive, but they're bottomless pits when it comes to maintenance. My previous car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I loved it, but it has since become 6a "luxury SUV". For what it would've cost me to replace it, I could get a fully loaded Lexus RX 450h... so I did. I'm spoiled now! I'll probably never buy a new one again (per Scotty's advice), but I'm sold on Lexus. When I go to a Lexus dealership for service, I'm treated like royalty. In my 45 yrs of car ownership, no other dealership has ever treated me so amazingly well. I'm a Lexus owner for life!
@@ryanmalin It had all the automatic and power options and functions that any other modern luxury car would have today. 4L. V8, RWD, sexy boxy/curvy sedan not too big not too small, what's not to love? Sure they had some problems, but those 90's LS400's will always hold true if taken care of.

Seriously though. Most major thing I've done to it is flush the fuel system and have the entire timing belt system replaced just recently. Mechanic said the belt was original. Even the rubber components are top quality. Besides that just a tune up when I bought it 4 years ago and rotors shortly after that. She's definitely a cheap date..

Hey Scotty, don't take this personally but one of the reasons why Lexus went to the new grills is because of people in your age category. The brand was getting the reputation as an old man car. Lexus did the new grills to attract younger buyers. Lexus DID NOT want to end up like Buick and Volvo. Two car brands now known as old people cars.
miamimcintosh couldn’t agree more, I personally love the new Lexus grills & as you said it’s to attract the younger buyers! I have a 2016 RC coupe & love the grill, really stands out from the crowd

This is the first episode of his I ever saw and it's my favorite. I saw it the day before I grabbed an 01 ES300 for a thousand bucks (didn't start, transmission was bad). Now it's running great and drives fine. This man is very experienced. Listen to what he's telling you.
I accidentally found Scotty & started watching his videos regularly. THEN, I started telling my friend, who helps me with minor vehicle needs, Scotty says this... Scotty says that. He told me to quit talking about Scotty. BUT, I sent him videos & now he's hooked. Today he wanted to work on the exterior of a car & he researched Scotty then headed to the store. Scotty, you should reconsider your thoughts on the LS 430. Mine is a 2004 model. Its in a different category than the 6 cylinder ones. Look at it from the perspective of biggest lifetime luxury bang for your buck. And 24 mpg mixed city and highway driving. And that incredible air suspension. And that torque and grunt of that V8 at 6500 rpm. Even with expensive repairs you get so much quality...

1:25 wow the interior looks immaculate for a 2002.
Yeah just WD40 that interior. Shine it right up

Lexus truly makes outstanding cars.

nacha laica I guess the caliper sticking and having to replace the rotors and pads AGAIN and replacing a charcoal canister is my fault too

I agree with scotty, I bought a 1998 lexus gs400 and with 220k miles it runs like it's still new and has amazing seats and I like the old look of the front grill more than the new lexus.
I got an 02 is300 with 2jz ge with 210k..... I fully restored( tune up, timing belt, bushing, tires, etc) runs like a clock
SrWardo93 I got an 05 is300 with a manual. No problems except for expensive light bulbs.
Well... I get smoke headlight, I keep the stock HID for low beams and EVERYTHING ELSE led........ so yeah, is expensive 😋

100% right! These cars were built to be bulletproof. I have an IS200 Luxury Sports manual, 2000 model, rare and sought after. Rear-wheel drive, beautiful transmission and handling, looks gorgeous and still modern. Mechanically perfect and every single thing works, down to the heated seats and original lights inside the windshield flaps. I had it repainted with the intention to sell and get a small Toyota SUV because I live in the country now with unsealed roads to get home. Having looked around at newer 2nd hand Toyotas and the state of them, I've decided to hold on to this beauty. In 18 months, her value has gone up by 50% of what I originally paid and will only keep going up.
