Been meaning to ask you what you thought of FJ’S? Bought a 2014 with 50k miles back in October, not a very common vehicle in the Pittsburgh area. My mechanic of 20 years said he’d never had one in his shop.
Scotty Kilmer Rev up your marketing ploys. Every foreign car rebadged their cars for sale in this country. I recall the Renault R5 in other countries was the LeCar in this country for example.
@@ej732 , my 2013 Toyota Sienna Limited AWD, with 210,000 miles, has the same 3.5 liter V-6 engine and, most likely, the identical transmission as the FJ cruiser that you just purchased and I'm extremely happy with my Toyota and will, probably, never purchase another make again. Just make sure that you follow the routine maintenance schedule and your Toyota will give you many thousands of happy miles. Make to change the oil, oil filter, transmission fluid/filter, transfer case/front & rear differential fluids, ect... . I use only Toyota/Amsoil oils, lubricants, filters, brake pads, ect... . I do all the aforementioned routine maintenance myself to make sure it's done and done correctly. If you do employ the services of a mechanic, watch him perform the work. Most mechanics are rip offs. Acura 💯 Acura and Lexus both are phenomenal vehicles. Acura are built to perform and last. Lexus are built to comfort and last. Both are very reliable and last forever.
@@F94-n3b are you dumb those stupid French-made cars are worse quality than German cars. The only good cars they made lasted from 2005 to 2013 and only because they were nice cars, not because they lasted
@@F94-n3b If you want to compare luxurious qualities, I would not pride the equivalent G35 interior (2003-2006) at all. It is a really out-dated, laughable "luxurious" interior designs. G37? Nice car. But I probably might cop an IS-F over one lol... 300ZX-TT and IS-F in same spot hmm
If you want luxury and comfort go Lexus, if you want performance and sporty feeling go Acura. They are both great cars but have different philosophy. It really up to what the drivers want
Didnt like the interior of the acura. Lexus holds value, but that means we're paying a premium when buying used. Now my partner is looking at mazda x5.
I’ve never had an Acura. But I have a Lexus. I’ve Had it for 7 years. 185,000 miles on it currently and it still rides the same from when I drove it off the lot. No problems. (Knocks on wood). I keep my oil changed every 5k miles no exceptions, I check my hoses weekly. It rides like a champ. Best car I’ve ever had hands down
I never had Lexus but currently on my 10 year old MDX got 252000 and still running good. My preference was always Acura because I like the interior better. Lexus is good car too.
front wheel drive sports car eh??? Guess you dont kno about weight distribution. Theres a reason why no good sports car company make cars in front wheel drive it handles terribly just good for picking up grocery. Do ur self a favor an never drive fast.
Lexus has Luxury Sports Cars (LFA, LC500, LCF, RCF, ISF, IS350, GSF, GS350 LS500 Fsport) Acura has the NSX but other than that I wouldn't call any of their FWD and FWD based AWD cars "Sports" cars. Sedan or otherwise. In most "Sports" segments, they aren't even in the conversation.
You are right. I have test drove both Lexus RX and MDX and ended up buying MDX and I am happy that I made this choice. MDX gives me 18-25 mpg gas mileage. It runs and feel like luxurious sedan with punchy Engine.

Honda / Acura transmission problems were up to 2007 only. And don't forget that Lexus LS 400 in 1992-94 had some transmission failures. The cabin material of Honda/Acura is a little better than the Lexus. Honda/Acura feels grippy ride while Lexus gives a float type of ride. Owned both Acura and Lexus.
I work at a shop and get to drive both brands on a regular basis. Acura isn't all that much better than Honda, but Lexus is a huge step up from Toyota. In terms of luxury and comfort, Lexus wipes the floor with Acura. Lexus is also built better and more reliable from what I've seen. Acura may be sportier but Lexus can be pretty quick too.
I have a 2013 ES350 and my wife uses a 2014 TL and they're both awesome luxury cars without issues. Granted, the Lexus is more comfortable, but as my dealer says "If you like the ride, get a Lexus, and if you like the drive, get an Acura. Lexus also has a more reliable transmission but if you change your acura transmission fluid as required, it's just as reliable.
@@geo5106 Lexus > Tesla > Acura. If the Model 3 was as reliable, and had the build quality of a Lexus, then maybe Tesla would come out ahead. Ironically, Tesla's are better "drivers cars" than Lexus's though...
@@geo5106 Teslas are horrible, not reliable at all for the average consumer even with the model 3, even with the "35,000" base model, it is still considered a luxury brand meaning expensive parts and expensive insurance and they still have alot of issues in company regarding used parts, self repair, and etc. They have great technology id give them that but, everyone knows when Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura makes a fully electric car Tesla sales are going to drop.
Hyundai genesis and kia is better than toyota and honda dont get me wrong i still love honda and toyota but hondas have the most ugliest design and bad transmission cvt ! i would pick toyota and hyundai over honda any-day but look hyundai has better warrantee better design and better futures and better sound system better transmisson! Geoffrey Wan these are initial cost and cost to repair will be significantly more Once the warranty is over but again with the comestic issues, you had said you don’t care but if I or anyone was else was purchasing a new vehicle from a luxury brand I’d expect my car to have no imperfections. Tesla is known to have quality control issues and I don’t blame them their a new fairly new company. Consumer reports even removed the model 3 off the recommended vehicles due to the consistent issues and we have seen that Tesla is among the least reliable brands according to consumer reports. Tesla is known for its technology but, the more electronics = the more chance of failure, just look at bmw as an example. You’re car may be working properly but you’re just a small sample compared to the population data we had observed.
I just wanted to comment on this that my first car EVER was a 95 Acura Legend and this car made me fall in love with all things Acura and Honda. I'll never forget my first baby and even thought I'm able now able to buy more expensive cars, I'll never cheat on Acura. It was with me through tough times after all
My first car was a Mitsubishi Diamante, then I went to the 89 Honda Prelude, but it wasn't until I owned a 89 Legend that I realized how much I liked sporty luxury. Then I had a 2005 Civic but never felt satisfied. It was a good car, but I knew it wasn't reliable. Now I have a 2003 Acura CL Type S with aftermarket headers, and I'm in love. To the point that I now want to get a daily driver, so that I can enjoy this beauty for decades to come. It is bulletproof, and when it hits that V-Tech, my heart always races in the best way. I've driven a couple Lexus models before, and they simply never gave me that rush, though I will admit they have a better ride, and are about as dependable.
Agreed! @mplsridah My 1st car was a used 92 Acura Legend Coupe! It had heated seats, motors on the door, that pulled the door shut, and the tiny back windows rolled down! I used to fantasize what it would have been like to afford a New Legend...lol It was 1 of my Favorite cars to this day! Acura was always ahead of the game, with Technology! I just bought the New 2023 Integra! Feels Good to join the Acura Family again, and New! 🙌🏼😁
I had Acura Legend, Lexus ES & the RX! No Car Can Beat LEXUS! But I have to say from my personal experience, the smooth sports ride speed of the old Legend LS was a beast!
@KingRANC30 My friend and I both had Legends LS and used to race on freeways on our way to school every day! (Luckily never got a speed ticket!) When I switched to Lexus, I felt like an old man who can't challenge anyone anymore lol!
Yeah, I had '92 Legend LS Coupe and an '02 IS 300. FWD vs RWD, but similar HP, etc. Lexus was well balanced, as that model was designed to mimic the BMW 330i. But the Legend was a better ride; fantastic engine, suspension, etc.
Wife has 2013 Acura RDX. Absolutely love that thing. V6 no turbo to go out. 162k on it runs smooth as silk. Scotty’s right it’s zippy and fun, a bit rough on bumps. The transmission did start doing some weird jumpy stuff so I took it to my transmission guy. He changed the fluid using Honda fluid. Boom problem gone. They’re sensitive when the stuff gets dirty and warn. I suspect the dealer didn’t change it as they claimed they did during maintenance. Just me and my transmission guy will work in it now. No more dealer.
I had an old integra and changed the transmission fluid first with some I got from the local auto parts store and it drove like crap. Talked to my mechanic and he advised going with the OEM fluids for transmission. Changed it and it was fine afterwards. Bought used (6700) when it had 100K miles and put on another 120K. Sold it (2200). Got my money's worth.
I have a 2001 Acura MDX, am the 2nd owner, purchased it with 75K miles, and now have 230K+ miles, and I have never had any transmission issues. It is a daily driver, and appears to be running very well, knock on wood!
I remember living in Japan in 1993 and when I returned to the states, I was confused because the models that were branded Lexus here all had the Toyota emblem over there. Also nobody believed me when I stated this at the time.
Love both cars. Bought the 21 Acura TLX S type. Very pleased with my choice. Both are great, Scotty is spot on with Acura more performance and sport and Lexus being more soft and luxurious. Can’t go wrong with either maker. Last forever.
I know it's purely anecdotal, but I love my 03 Acura TL. Nearly 200K miles and still going strong with regular maintainence! If I had to replace it tomorrow, I'd probably look for another Acura.
Your 5 speed transmission is on borrowed time. Look up the recalls on that specific transmission. You might be lucky if the previous owner of the car had it replaced under warranty with a factory "upgraded" transmission. There is info out there to visually inspect and tell if its a replaced unit. I owned a 2002 TL, sold it with alomost 290k, but had a lower mileage 3.2 and a transmission from a TL which had it replaced at the dealer. Never again.
@@NVzla Trust me, I looked into the transmission issue before I bought the car. Currently, it's on the recalled transmission (previous owner sold it shortly after replacing it) and it has a little over 100K miles on it. I change the transmission fluid religiously on it and it runs A-OK. Still, it's always on the back of my mind. Then again, considering how cheap I got the car, I still have had my money's worth out of it.
@@dietpixel That's awesome! For some reason, everyone thinks that just because that generation of CL and TL had transmission issues, all of the cars must be affected. Granted, I wouldn't gamble on one being perfectly OK and not have a mechanic inspect it first.
@@tenhundredkills The word "recall" and "transmission" together, in a sentence by manufacturers, just no. My TL was awesome, just that issue would nag me too much.

Just got an '05 Acura MDX for $4k. It has all power and leather everything and handles very well for such a big, heavy vehicle. The S-AWD felt a little strange at first, but now I love it. I did a timing belt change along with the fluids and brake job to be on the safe side, and it runs like a clock. Only real downside is the gas mileage, but it's about the same as my old Ranger pickup, but is 5x the car, so I guess it's worth it. I think it looks better than its Lexus equivalent too. Scotty rules!!!
The MDX is the only luxury vehicle that Acura makes that isn't an embarrassment to the word "luxury". Lexus (Toyota) designs their top of the line vehicles first and the designs trickle down, Acura (Honda), for the most part does the opposite. The RL is based on an Accord for god's sake. Lexus is a household name, Acura is not. And the MDX looks like a Honda Pilot.
I drive an 03 Acura TL Type S and an 04 4.7-liter V8 Toyota 4Runner Sport. I love both vehicles, and they are still going strong with over 150,000 miles each.
@@kelvinfeliciano that happens to me. never going back to toyota. i def like much, much, much better how a honda drives and they've served me well. toyota of course will serve well, but they're so fucking boring and unless you get a lexus, you don't get extras. i bet toyota would still ship out cars with rolling windows if they could
Bought my 2011 ES350 in November of last year with 92,000 miles and some change. Only thing I've had to do is get the oil changed, brake maintenance, and new tires. I've gotten so many compliments on the car and it rides so smoothly. It's very spacious and has an awesome sound system. Lexus is made by Toyota, so for me, that's enough said 🤷🏾♀️
@@fearthenomad well the good thing is that it runs on 87. I always thought that Lexus cars required 93. Hmm...I'm not quite observant in the fuel efficiency area 😅 but I have to fill my tank up every 4 days. $30-$35 usually gets the job done. I travel back and forth on the interstate a lot though.
I've owned a 92 lexus SC400 and a 2008 Aura RL-SHAWD. The Lexus had my heart but the MOST reliable was by far the Acura and it was the best handling car I've ever driven. Both brands are great imo. just according to what your looking for.
Idan K. I could agree, there's something weird about accurate that I was never able to get on board with them... Maybe if they made some RW day I would be more than thrilled
I have both a 06 LS430 and 02 Honda s2k. They both serve their purpose quite well. Both are styled perfectly and drive smooth with proper maintenance 🙂
Lexus is fantastic, however the failure of HONDA transmission is 99% owner fault, I have owned several Honda and Acura, still waiting for a transmission fail on me , 1-change the transmission fluid every 30k, 2- do not flush the transmission 3-use the F***** OEM transmission fluid DW-1, made by IDEMITSU 4- put the right amount of fluid , doing so your Acura/Honda transmission will last forever !!!
I agree 100%. People act like honda or acura transmission will always fail every time within 100000 or 200000 miles. I have an 08 Accord v6 bought it brand new. 132000 miles absolutely no problems. And yes I run on the interstates at high speeds. What I do on my acuras and my honda I change the transmission fluid once a year before the summer time.
arturo j guzman agreed! My family has gone through at least 8 Honda vehicles, all with auto trans, and we have never had one fail on us, even with the highest mileage one at about 265k before selling it. Just do the regular maintenance and they run forever.
mikey yes ! if you keep changing the fluid every 30k no need for a flush, check on line, HONDA do not recommend such thing! However if you change several times consecutive your fluid “technically” you are flushing your transmission without a MACHINE , that is safe .
Completely agree with Dennis Hopper's comments :) I own both a Lexus and an Acura. The Lexus has been more reliable but definitely has a softer ride. I enjoy driving the Acura more, but it does not feel as well built or refined as the Lexus.
I've always liked Lexus, especially because of how smooth they ride on the road. I'm thinking of picking up a used 2010 IS 350. I test drove one the other day and it had very decent power and still rode super smooth even at 80mph.
I used to drive prototypes for Toyota/Lexus and all I can say is the time and money they put into development and the attention to detail on the Lexus side of things... Can't imagine any other company goes to that extreme.
Scotty: Toyota builds awesome transmissions and have fantastic overall quality, and Honda builds outstanding engines!! Literally Nobody: Me: What if Honda and Toyota built a new line of cars together??
My moms has the 2010 RX as well with 65K miles..and that's all she's ever done since she owned it back in 2010.. Kinda Eerily reliable...great vehicle..👍
Good...Your tires should be CLOSE to bald, If U get them replaced, replace all 4 and MAYBE change the struts as it makes tires ware more evenly...Then every 7,000 K, have them rotated, IF U want, again it makes your tires wear more evenly...I replaced my brake fluid at NEARLY EXACTLY 100 K...It's not a lexus, so maybe yours will go longer...MAYBE replace your power steering fluid...Quick oil change places won't replace your brake fluid, cuz they don't have the ability, and DEFINITELY NOT the LEGALITY to do so...A wheel alignment will yet again make your tires wear more evenly...It's VERY POSSIBLE, your belt, or belts are close to needing to be replaced...My Mazda protege did 83,000 miles before I replaced them...Many cars only have one belt...U OF COURSE, don't wanna be broke down on the side of the road, especially the expressway...It's VERY possible your battery won't last this next winter, IF U LIVE in a climate where it gets below 35 degrees often, especially less than 20 degrees often in the winter...Most batteries don't last more than 7 years, again especially w/ what I said about COLD WINTERS...IDK when it will need a transmission fluid change ?? The person who goes by, Take the red pill, is most likely correct about changing your coolant, transmission fluid, and spark plugs, at 100 K...Lexus, which is the OBVIOUSLY the most reliable car company ever made, WILL NEED to have more than tires and ONE battery replaced../ NO LEXUS EVER MADE, will go more than 135 K without doing proper maintenance at least ONCE...Like, Fluid changes, tires, batteries, belts, struts, oil changes...Your tires will be worn VERY unevenly w/ out EVER replacing the struts...Sure, people never replace their struts but are LIVING dangerously driving w/ ALMOST bald and unevenly worn tires...If they ever have to make a quick turn, the baldish unevenly worn tires, WILL NOT grip and they will wipe out, or flip over....I got this last bit from an ACTUAL TECHNICIAN...Don't mean to be all doom and gloom...I highly suggest U at least do what "Take the red pill" suggests and get you transmission fluid, coolant and spark plugs changed...I realize, U said U would be sure to do that...Don't be cocky and believe your Lexus will go for ever w/ out SOME maintenance....It SIMPLY WILL NEVER HAPPEN...Take it E-Z Jason !!

My Acura MDX has 134000 miles on a 2006 MDX has the original Transmission. It runs perfect without any problems. I take car of it by changing its fluids and driving it conservatively. Granted I don’t drive it all that much anymore due to me being handicap now maybe a mile or two a day the last two years but even then that’s only like 10,000+ miles a year. I take very good care of it. It is very comfortable to drive inside and on the road. I think a responsible driver to keep up maintenance and don’t beat the hell out of it it lasts. I love it and plan on having it around for as long as it keeps driving it. Couldn’t imagine me not having it around. My favorite car I have owed. Today I am cleaning the leather. Lexus is slightly more reliable, but they're both good, and Acura tends to be sportier. I bought an MDX over a highlander because the MDX is kinda sporty, and the Highlander drove like an old Buick. I'll just drain and fill the trans at every oil change to make it last.
Acuras cost less and a lot of Honda parts are available to use on Acura. I just bought a 2015 TLX Advanced ( every bell and whistle ) with 14K miles for 23k, sticker 43K. Love it. The front wheel drive is good in the snow as well as 34 mpg on the highway is nice. 0-60 is about 5.8 sec. All wheel steering, amazing value.

When comparing the two, I believe in the 90s they were very similar in overall quality but by today’s standards I feel Lexus has the edge. They’re the most reliable luxury brand across all their vehicles. While some are just luxury interiors wrapped in their respective Toyota platforms, their other vehicles are in a league of their own. For example, the RC and GX.

Just make sure that you follow the routine maintenance schedule and your Toyota will give you many thousands of happy miles.
Only real downside is the gas mileage, but it's about the same as my old Ranger pickup, but is 5x the car, so I guess it's worth it. I think it looks better than its Lexus equivalent too.

You have such good cars Mf give me them
Lexus is fantastic, however the failure of HONDA transmission is 99% owner fault, I have owned several Honda and Acura, still waiting for a transmission fail on me , 1-change the transmission fluid every 30k, 2- do not flush the transmission 3-use the F***** OEM transmission fluid DW-1, made by IDEMITSU 4- put the right amount of fluid , doing so your Acura/Honda transmission will last forever !!!
But I will say Lexus is really really good along with Toyota fantastic vehicles. The benchmark on reliability no denying that.
arturo j guzman agreed! My family has gone through at least 8 Honda vehicles, all with auto trans, and we have never had one fail on us, even with the highest mileage one at about 265k before selling it. Just do the regular maintenance and they run forever.
arturo j guzman So your saying just change the transmission fluid every 30K or so but never give it a flush?
mikey yes ! if you keep changing the fluid every 30k no need for a flush, check on line, HONDA do not recommend such thing!

Lexus for the win. Best off road vehicle (LX) best luxury sedan (LS) best super car (LFA)
I’ve worked for LEXUS as a service advisor this guy knows his stuff!
Ive owned 2 acura TL since 2009 no issues other than replaced motor mounts. 265k miles on it when i totaled it. 152k on current one
I'm still riding my 06TL with A-spec kit. Had to paint it cause the clear coat was coming off. Looks brand new now.
I have a 04 TL with 150K miles. Only issue I had was replacing the driver side CV axle. Other than that no problem.
My dads 04 tl just died at 225k miles
mike ganer awe man. What was the culprit man?
I’ve got a 09 TL great shape but tranny fluid never changed. You think it’s too late to change it successfully?
Lexus = luxury.
Acura = sport and some what luxury.
If you care about reliability and cost both are better than anything else on the road today. Someone please prove me wrong.
You got that right , bro.
What is there to prove wrong?
100% agreed
Acura isn't reliable. I would go with Lexus.
I think lexus =luxury and some sport, don't forget about their IS300 , IS350 ISF, gsf, rcf, lfa, etc
I love my 05 Acura TL 6-speed. It's fast, handles great and looks amazing. I bought it for $4500. One owner, never wrecked, no rust, lots of service records, tons of new parts.
I only buy Hondas
so I love Acuras Duh
I'm on my #5 Acura
My favorite are Chevy performance models so things like the corvette and the comaro because those are the only cars that they actually have quality control over
I actually bought a used es300 with 70k miles after watching Scott’s video. Thanks Scotty! I trust your decisions 😃

@@ReganMcKee actually he misses a lot of things. Like he said honda doesn't make a rear wheel drive car except the nsx. Well last time I check the s2k is also rear wheel drive.

I’ve owned 4 MDX’s. Never had a transmission issue.
Is the 3.7 from the 2nd Gen better that the newer 3.5? I have the 1st Gen.
Blaze Psi they’re about the same
I bought a used '11 MDX and I keep hearing online about all the transmission problems. Did you change the fluid often?
@@violinforever I wouldnt worry about the 2011 model(second gen). The bad once was form the first gen. It was a plague coz its used in MDX, ODYSSEY, TL, and SATURN VUE(Homda enegine and tranny).
I personally change my transmissio fluid till it looks reddish...
It will, just wait.

I got a 99 Lexus GS300 that just pass 317,000 miles on April 22,2019

From Texas tho lol
I have a 06 Camry v6 with 325,000mi
Basically Japanese Mercedes vs Japanese BMW
Deehaw pretty much, except better made.
Lexus had standard luxury that costs extra money on Mercedes since the beginning
I own an LS430 with 280K miles. I had to replace the transmission. Still keeping the car, best car I’ve ever owned.
Blake Olson i have the 430 too !
How much that tranny replacement cost
I love my 1999 Acura TL and it’s “zippy” and fun as Scotty said. But I’ve got to hand it to Lexus I think they make the better car 🤷♀️
Scotty I got the same Lexus 06 ES 330 155 thousand on it and still smooth as a marble table
Samuel Dumas. Got that right. I bought new my gs300 (2jzge)18 years ago, now has over 225,000 miles on it but this car refuse to retire and still going strong. No major problem or whatsoever just the driver side leather seat are deteriorating.
I just got an 2003 es 300 two days ago ,so I can do Uber with. It has 160,000 miles. it's phenomenal to me ,absolutely great vehicle. Anything I should look for as far as any major mechanical problems? Ik the timing chain should be replaced ?
My older brother owns one too the only problem with it is the alternator and the ignition note that the car is sitting in my parent’s driveway right now so that’s how the alternator went bad but the ignition the key got stuck in the key slot so yeah but I think the car has 75-100 thousand miles that’s really good for a 15 year old car
mindjump my wife’s Acura RDX got in a wreck. It was a cool suv but now I have convinced her to get the Lexus Rx350 😂 I am happy
mindjump 😂 Facts
Yesterday I washed and waxed it vacuumed the very little dirt I have in it. Cleaned the carpet of spots and ceiling of finger prints. It almost show room condition inside.
Cant say i dont like Acura, i had a tl with 250k and drove it to 350k and it was perfectly fine
V6 Honda's n acura are great but not 4 cylinder engine. My 07 acura tsx breaks down like a mtf. Luckily its cheap ti repair!
@@troytruong8246 Some arent bad. I got a buddy with an rsx pushing 11 psi on a 200k stock motor and its very reliable
Mine has 400k it’s crazy
Man, imagine if Honda and Toyota got together together to make a car. Like how Toyota/Subaru/BMW came together to make the GT86 and the new supra respectively.
Honda hate Toyota
Toyota and BMW got together for the new supra and Z4. They also made a new engine and transmission for their cars.
How about Toyota, Honda, and Nissan make a rwd sports coupe that's reliable good on gas that comes with in line 4, v6 or inline 6 and a v8 motor and it can swap any of the motor only change the ecu. so basically plug and play no modifications required.
Scotty is exactly right! I have three lexus cars and they have not ever gave me any major problem! I still have my 1995 acura legend Ls! That Legend was the last time i will ever by acura because they went from sporty looking with the legend to boring with the RL! I have had 2 transmission replaced, replaced a engine and coolant issues! Since it was my childhood favorite car i will probably keep the acura legend forever! After that legend its been Lexus for life! Scotty is spot on about everything he said!
Its hilarious how he basically ends the vid on "eh if ya want one for cheap all ya got to do is wait for an old person to die." 😂👌
i know
This is very true.
My Dad bought a great used Acura which was previously owned by an old lady who passed away (may God rest her soul).
This is very true..when my Grandma passed away a few years ago I inherited her 01 Nissan Altima only had 25k miles on it after 14 years.
And you don't mind the beige wooden trim interior
I've owned both. Acura TL and TLX sedans and Lexus RX 330&350 SUVs.
All 4 have lasted years without repairs/worries and I drive the hell out of the Acuras every chance I get.
I can’t decide between the two! They’re both incredibly comfortable, luxurious, and reliable. Lexus is more expensive, but it feels like it’s worth it!
yea Lexus is a solid luxury/reliable car where Acura is more handling/sports/reliable
@@good-tn9sr My parents have a 2013 RDX and a 2015 RX350. They’re gonna get rid of them and they say I can keep one of them as my first car, but I just can’t decide if I want sportier or more comfortable and luxurious because I’m getting an amazing car either way!
@@hstaff3336 Wow, you’re in an extremely lucky position! If I were you, I would go for the Lexus since it’s newer and also they are technically more reliable/solid. But to each their own and with the choices you have, you really can’t go wrong. So good tidings to you my friend!
I have a 2000 Acura TL and am still happy with it. You're right about weak transmissions, though.
vmvlkc Yeah that was the worst year for that TL and accord i'm about the 2003 GEN accord was atrocious with that transmission
I absolutely love AWD Acura's, fun to drive and reliable!
I had an accord from a few years later who’s year had faulty automatic transmissions. Thank god I got a manual.
Matt Frankman lucky bastard
Get an 08 TL, you'll thank yourself bro
I have a IS and a Accord. Happy & proud owner of both...🙌
I've owned many cars over my many years. Best two ever: Acura RL SE: Bought brand new, serviced regularly... regular wear and tear.... after 11 years and 120,000 Miles, sold. Toyota Celica; Bought used; regular maintenance; Sold. Key words here: Reliability... Resale Value.
Here in Southern California, I see way more NEW Lexus vehicles than Acura ones
I agree with you, hardly ever see Acura here in SoCal, they are somewhat of an afterthought to people here compared to how many Lexus there are in SoCal.
I think that’s the case everywhere. I’m more of a Honda fan regarding mainstream cars I own one but would choose Lexus for premium cars.
That's because Acura sucks, it's a horrible value for a "luxury" vehicle. Seriously, the ILX?? It's an embarrassment, get a Civic. Or better yet, just buy a Toyota.
Lexus more popular in SoCal? That's an argument for Acura (or anything for that matter).
@@SK-lt1so Its more popular everywhere.
"Acura's new offering for the (insert category) segment falls well short of its competitors." - every publication about cars ever.

You are going to break RUclips if you keep mentioning Jaguar. Don't say it a third time.
Bahaha 😂 I remember those being good yard ornaments!
Jaguar Land Rover reliability has improved a bit these last couple of years.
You mean a Jaaaaaag?
The jaguars are in the zoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My 2004 Acura RL is still running on the original engine and transmission. It has over 250K miles on it. To call it reliable is an understatement. I also have a Lexus RX 350. They are two of the best cars I have ever had.
I have a 2004 Acura RL aswell with 188,000 miles and I've only changed oil,Trans fluid, alternator and fuel pump still running strong
Lexus is slightly more reliable, but they're both good, and Acura tends to be sportier. I bought an MDX over a highlander because the MDX is kinda sporty, and the Highlander drove like an old Buick. I'll just drain and fill the trans at every oil change to make it last.
LOL
Acuras cost less and a lot of Honda parts are available to use on Acura. I just bought a 2015 TLX Advanced ( every bell and whistle ) with 14K miles for 23k, sticker 43K. Love it.
The front wheel drive is good in the snow as well as 34 mpg on the highway is nice. 0-60 is about 5.8 sec. All wheel steering, amazing value.
I am really considering a 2015 tlx. Thanks for the info
I had a 1987 Acura Legend with a 5 speed and cloth velour seats. I still miss that car. I had it for 10 years and over 200k miles. Plus, the factory Pioneer sound system sounded great and looked great with that built in equalizer.
Awesome.
I’ve learned more about cars in 2 weeks from Scotty than I learned in 25 years of life.
IMO, Lexus is better than Acura.
Lexus = best cars on the planet period
When comparing the two, I believe in the 90s they were very similar in overall quality but by today’s standards I feel Lexus has the edge. They’re the most reliable luxury brand across all their vehicles. While some are just luxury interiors wrapped in their respective Toyota platforms, their other vehicles are in a league of their own. For example, the RC and GX.
Acura for me. Have a 03 Tl, an 08 RDX and a 13 MDX all run beautifully.
Wilson Kshove I hear the MDX rides nice, I have never been inside accurate in my life except once And I was Just meeting up with someone talking to them, so we never really moved
I have 05 TL. Best car I've ever owned.
Persiancat I remember seeing it in car&driver, and they had a R type or S type, and the 0-60 was 5.2 with a list of top speed of 152mph
Persiancat Same 2005 TL it has been my best car out of 26...it’s got 161k on it and I won’t sell it because it runs fine
Agree I have a 2004 Acura TL with 272k miles all original still drives like a new car and no rattles, this Acura is like a tank, I plan to drive it pass 500k if it makes it.

Thanks Scotty for the great video. My wife likes her Acura TSX and I just bought a Lexus RX350. I know you hate the new Lexus grills but it drives like a dream. I’m hoping to keep it for a long time!
I have a friend , who buys 10 year old GS 350s , 430s with 90+ K , and drives them foranother 5-6 years , and still sells them for 3-4 K !!! Well , only 2 so far , but no problems until almost 170-80K !!! The GS series , until around 2011 , was a car , if maintained properlysince new , 300,000 miles no problem . Same goes for Acura Legends , and Integras.

Absolutely agree with you. I used to have Acura TSX 2005 with 318000 miles. I purchased new Acura RDX one month ago.
acura is ultimately killing its line up . you get more features on the pilot than on the mdx. they need to learn how to differentiate the affordable brand and the luxury brand .
