Absolutely loved York. Bought yarn on Shambles to knit gifts for our children for Christmas that year. Had dinner at Guy Fawkes and was given the recipe for the Guy Fawkes Steak Pie. Such a delight for a Canadian who loves to cook.
York is my favourite place in the world! I was at the University of Leeds for a study year abroad from Ontario, and it was the first time I ever saw a cathedral, Roman ruins and Medieval buildings. An instant love affair was born. I go back any chance I get-- and I've been on so many Ghost Tours, I could probably lead one myself! I hope to visit later this year. Thank you-- this is wonderful. x
I was born in York and spent my youth running around the snickets and alley ways. My mother is in the Terrys Chocolate Works Care Village. A lovely place indeed

I spent four of the happiest days of my life visiting my ancestral home of York. This video was a wonderful return to that magical city … and I will rewatch many times to relive my memories. York is a magical place … and you are a magical tour guide. Bravo!!!
A truly incredible tour tonight. My grandparents left all this magnificence behind in 1923 to come to Western Australia to promised farmlands that turned out to be sandy coastal plains. Many English returned to England.My grandmother wanted to go home but they stayed and found other work and made a success of things.

My favourite English City 🏴 Our son spent 3 and a half years at York StJohn University, which is slap-bang in the City centre. How proud we were to see him graduate in the Minster, receiving his BA(Hons) in History from the Archbishop of York. Fabulous place, genuine people. We loved to visit, just a beautiful experience. Peaceful, confident, unique in its' character with bags of fascinating history. Along with Newcastle, an absolute MUST. This is such an entertaining, educational video. Really enjoyed it. Thank you. How I adore York. This Programme was such a massive Nostalgia Blast. From Day Trips with my Family, through School Trips, Working in York, Army Leave, Dating... And all those Pubs, Wonderful. Although I have been visited by a lot of Spirits during my time in York, I have never encountered one of York's many Ghosts. A Day just isn't long enough, one needs to stay for as long as possible. Now then, what's the name of that Pub with the Roman excavations inside...

My husband and I had the good fortune to live in England in the mid 1990’s. We booked a lovely B&B and had a very good time exploring ourselves. Your video and commentary does this unique City (because it has a cathedral) justice. The cathedral is a must.. I would go see for myself and he would check out the pubs 😉😊
@@1944JerriMellas I visited York myself in the late 90's what a wonderful place. The hotel I stayed in was allegedly the old house that Guy Fawkes was born in. I don't know how true that is or if it was just a gimmick to make it more popular. But each room was themed to Guy Fawkes and his plot

What an amazing video! RUclips is inundated with travel shows and I normally really struggle to find channels that get all of the best parts of a city. You nailed it with this, stunning visuals and information about the history and culture. Really enjoyed this from start to finish and made me want to go back to York as there was clearly alot I didn't see

Very good video. I visited for the first time earlier this year and loved it. Beautiful old town. My family heritage is in Newcastle and York and seeing places my ancestors would have seen was special.
Some of my ancestors came from just outside of York. Watching this video has definitely made me decide that I MUST go and visit York when the Covid situation is safer. As always many thanks for yet another informative video.

Hands down, my favourite York travel documentary. Beautiful and atmospheric photography (cue cinematography!) and on point, engaging narration. I keep coming back to this one in anticipation of my visit in a couple of months. Amazing work.
A lovely guide, so much to do and see, it seems like a destination suited to a short break to be able to take most of the sights in. My personal favourite was the National Railway Museum.

I've lived in the City of York since 1978, mostly in the villages to the north of the city. I worked there all my working life: not once have I ever wished to leave. And in those 40 years, there are several things mentioned on here that I've never got round to visiting. This fantastic video shows just what an incredible place York is. It also has amazing pubs (try the Blue Bell, tiny and unchanged for over 120 years; featured at 15.39) and some fabulous cafes and restaurants.
One more fascinating video with full of history, streets, buildings, statues, lakes... are so interesting & relaxing. I love the way u exhibit UK so elegantly & wonderfully that anyone would definitely fall in love.. thanks for sharing

Fascinating! We have nothing like this in Canada as we are so young.
Nothing medieval, but still some interesting history. We really enjoyed finding out about the birth of the national parks in Banff last November.

Hands down, my favourite York travel documentary. Beautiful and atmospheric photography (cue cinematography!) and on point, engaging narration. I keep coming back to this one in anticipation of my visit in a couple of months. Amazing work.

A lovely guide, so much to do and see, it seems like a destination suited to a short break to be able to take most of the sights in. My personal favourite was the National Railway Museum.
Yes the National railway museum is very well done and the fact it is free to visit makes it a great family day out!

I've lived in the City of York since 1978, mostly in the villages to the north of the city. I worked there all my working life: not once have I ever wished to leave. And in those 40 years, there are several things mentioned on here that I've never got round to visiting. This fantastic video shows just what an incredible place York is.
It also has amazing pubs (try the Blue Bell, tiny and unchanged for over 120 years; featured at 15.39) and some fabulous cafes and restaurants.
As always a beautiful film with good commentary!

There are so many fascinating, lovely places to visit, what a wonderful city York is.. the museums, and the Viking centre are absolutly fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed everything 💚💚

We lived in York for seven years, and I loved it! Didn't want to leave, and I missed it desperately when we had to move for my husband's work. Wish we still lived there!
