I am lucky enough to live in this beautiful city. There is always something new to discover. If you have never been, you should make every effort to come and visit. You wont be disappointed.
You are very lucky to live there. So jealous! Wonderful place to visit.
What's your favorite restaurant?
Only had one meal out in York would suggest you check Google or trip advisor for reviews. There are tons of places to eat.
@@elizabethw.454 I've just done a post on mine.
I agree I only live 18 miles from York and visit often.
I live here and would recommend to not come on a weekend, but come during the week.
The shops will be far less stressed, you will find tables at restaurants and old pubs and you'll just generally have a more pleasant time.
Weekends are beyond ridiculous with how busy it is now.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
York is my favourite place in the world! I was at the University of Leeds for a study year abroad from Ontario, and it was the first time I ever saw a cathedral, Roman ruins and Medieval buildings. An instant love affair was born. I go back any chance I get-- and I've been on so many Ghost Tours, I could probably lead one myself! I hope to visit later this year. Thank you-- this is wonderful. x
Oh so nice to hear you might get to go back later this year! Enjoy.
@@MemorySeekers Fingers crossed!
Which ghost tour you recommend?
I can only recommend the one in the video as that is the only one we have been on. www.thebloodytourofyork.co.uk/
Visiting York from U.S. in September. Thank you for the information!
Have fun!
Absolutely loved York. Bought yarn on Shambles to knit gifts for our children for Christmas that year. Had dinner at Guy Fawkes and was given the recipe for the Guy Fawkes Steak Pie. Such a delight for a Canadian who loves to cook.
How lovely I hope you haven’t spoilt the surprise on their gifts ☺️
London is cool but York is the best city in England imo. Hit the night for a pub crawl, great stuff
I think I would prefer it to a night out in London too.
I was born in York and spent my youth running around the snickets and alley ways. My mother is in the Terrys Chocolate Works Care Village. A lovely place indeed
I didn't know they had a care home, how lovely. What did she do in the factory?
I used to work in York in the later 1960s and it was such a relief to see how little it has changed since then. Thank you.
The production behind this video is fantastic. This is something I would expect to watch on the BBC or PBS. How you transport the audience to your filming location is very impressive. You've made me start searching for houses in the area now, haha.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We try and make them as professional as we can with our low budget kit 😊
Many generations of my family are from York .I live about 12 miles outside of the city, but visit regularly. Wonderful city with a great history,
How lovely to be able to visit often. I wish we could!
Best video I've seen on York
So kind
I'm an American who particularly loves your videos exploring the UK. I wish you would visit Wales. I would enjoy learning about historic sites of that region. Thanks for the calm, beautiful, and educational content!
Hello and thank you for watching. Yes we have not really spent any time in Wales and does have a lot to share. I am sure we will get there at some point. Thanks for watching.
Agreed Wales is a fascinating country with lots to see. Please remember Wales is a country and nation in its own right within the United Kingdom, not a region.
@@ds1868 Region: "an area, especially part of a country or the world having definable characteristics but not always fixed boundaries." Seems like calling it a region is fine.
Hi ,
Regarding your comments on Wales , being Welsh I have to honestly agree.
Actually there are more castles in Wales then in any of the four regions of the British isles..
Thanks to Edward I and his descendants, the Norman's had to try and keep control of this trouble some nation.
But no, please take a visit to this beautiful part of the United Kingdom , you will not regret it....
Used to live in Knaresborough. York was a fave place to go. 👌👍The Happy Valley Chinese restaurant at 5m58sec is outstanding.
A truly incredible tour tonight. My grandparents left all this magnificence behind in 1923 to come to Western Australia
to promised farmlands that turned out to be sandy coastal plains. Many English returned to England. My grandmother wanted
to go home but they stayed and found other work and made a success of things.
Perth western Australia is a great city with a lovely sunny climate!
@@ds1868 My family are in Perth also I love it there.
The Cat Gallery is now the sole organiser of the cat trail
Thinking of relocating from Glasgow to York. This video seals the deal!
Hope it works out.
Your tours are so very enjoyable and in my opinion superior to most others coming out of Britain; your voice is nice, not pretentious, your music is varied and well- designed to enhance your videos nicely! Music can make or break a video and yours see right on! You don’t try to talk above/over the music, and your history-sense is right on--not snobby, not affected, and we’re allowed to enjoy the walks with you. Thank you for bringing these amazing images into my home in Montana, as I am an avid “Anglophile” and have been to England twice. After watching your video on Winchester, I’ve decided I have a bucket list; top on that list would be to spend a year in Winchester. I have a particular love and admiration for Alfred the Great and would love to tread the land he walked, for more than just a few days’ vacation time. Thank you!
Thank you for the lovely comment Linda so pleased you enjoy the videos. So nice to hear your feedback, it keeps us going. I hope one day you make it to Winchester for that long stay! 😊
Fascinating! We have nothing like this in Canada as we are so young.
Nothing medieval, but still some interesting history. We really enjoyed finding out about the birth of the national parks in Banff last November.
This is the beautiful city i was born and still live in im blessed with life ❤
I’m blessed to call York my home
I watched your video before I came to York to study. I have now been here for 8 months and I love this city so much. I still have so much to explore because with uni I did not have a lot of free time. So, I am back to using your lovely video for references :)
Lovely to hear it is helpful. What a lovely city to study in!
My favourite English City 🏴 Our son spent 3 and a half years at York StJohn University, which is slap-bang in the City centre. How proud we were to see him graduate in the Minster, receiving his BA(Hons) in History from the Archbishop of York.
Fabulous place, genuine people. We loved to visit, just a beautiful experience. Peaceful, confident, unique in its' character with bags of fascinating history. Along with Newcastle, an absolute MUST.
This is such an entertaining, educational video. Really enjoyed it. Thank you.

I’ve finally found it, Old York.
How I adore York. This Programme was such a massive Nostalgia Blast. From Day Trips with my Family, through School Trips, Working in York, Army Leave, Dating... And all those Pubs, Wonderful. Although I have been visited by a lot of Spirits during my time in York, I have never encountered one of York's many Ghosts. A Day just isn't long enough, one needs to stay for as long as possible. Now then, what's the name of that Pub with the Roman excavations inside...
Thank you Tom, so pleased you enjoyed our tour around the city. Indeed whilst you can have a great day in York spending a few or more days is best to see everything without being rushed.
The pub with the Roman excavations is called, appropriately, 'The Roman Bath' 😀
I spent four of the happiest days of my life visiting my ancestral home of York. This video was a wonderful return to that magical city … and I will rewatch many times to relive my memories. York is a magical place … and you are a magical tour guide. Bravo!!!
Thank you Todd glad it brings back happy memories.
Dont Wory, ive lived in york my whole life and not seen the whole of it haha
@@kylewren7012 I believe you. There’s so much to see. What a wonderful city! I envy you.
I've been there a number of times, and worshipped in the church opposite the grave yard where Dick Turpin's grave. So many memories.
@15.22 a pic of "The Royal Oak" - my favourite vfm dining and drinking spot in all of York. Please speak if you meet me there . . .
I visited York many years ago. It was wonderful! I loved also walking along the ramparts. ❤
Thank you for an amazing video! I am so happy to have stumbled upon your channel. As a poor American Anglophile, I must live vicariously through travel videos, and yours are just simply wonderful! ❤
I absolutely loved this video - wasn't ready for it to be over! Incredible history and buildings certainly makes one feel like they have stepped into a fairy tale. Thank you for another fantastic trip into the past.💕
Glad you liked it Karen such a wonderful place.
York is also all about the present as well. It is a working city, not a theme park.
Great video, we were in York for Christmas 2018 and this refreshed our memories.
I’m living in New Zealand now ( 13 years) and this video brought back many memories as I lived the previous 73 years within 15-20 miles of York .Thank you for bringing to light some places and history of which I was not aware…
So pleased to stir the memories of York.
Oh nice. One of the loveliest city in the world. Miss granny Norma Hustwick and her family who hosted me at York during my stay at York back in 2019.
Glad it brought back some nice memories
You guys are the BEST. We love your channel so much. This was one of our favorite videos. Thank you so much! ~Adam and Mary in New Hampshire, USA
Hello Adam and Mary, so pleased you enjoy our channel and this video. We really had fun making it. Such a brilliant place to visit. All the best!
Proud to live here and have it on my birth certificate ❤️
😊👍
What a fantastic video. Beautiful area. I don't just want to visit there from the US, I want to move there....ah, I wish.
It is an amazing city, I agree we could live there as well! Thanks for watching.
York England is amazing,
We agree 😊
What an amazing tour around York. Thank you for showing us, who will never get to the UK, the fabulous sites. Looking forward to your next video.❤️
Thank you
My husband and I had the good fortune to live in England in the mid 1990’s. We booked a lovely B&B and had a very good time exploring ourselves. Your video and commentary does this unique City (because it has a cathedral) justice. The cathedral is a must.. I would go see for myself and he would check out the pubs 😉😊
@@1944JerriMellas I visited York myself in the late 90's what a wonderful place. The hotel I stayed in was allegedly the old house that Guy Fawkes was born in. I don't know how true that is or if it was just a gimmick to make it more popular. But each room was themed to Guy Fawkes and his plot
If you like normal lunches well cooked might I suggest the Teddy Bear tearooms. Quirky interior but nice normal food.
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks so much for an excellent tour! I’ll be there in October 2022 and can’t wait to find all those cats! 😸
Hope you have a super fun time! Enjoy 😊
'Snickleways' have been snickets in Lancashire for donkey's years!
Beautiful x
Thank you for watching
Fantastic tour. Slow walking and just the right ammount of talking and info. Very well done.
Thank you so much glad you enjoyed it.
Many visits to York many years ago nothing has changed its my favorite place. Thank you the video has brought back many wonderful memories. Auckland New Zealand
So pleased that we stirred the memories for you! Thanks for watching.
At 20:18, the beautiful irreplaceable historic lamp post being knocked down completely by a HGV in March 2022, so lovely to see it in your video, such a shame that is gone now, and the driver did a hit and run.
Oh no what a shame!
Highly professional 10/10
Thank you
I always love visiting York.
It’s an hours bus ride for me and I love the history and walking the walls with my friend
It is great fun walking the walls. Not many places you can do the same!
I was in York when the G8 clashes broke out in Genoa, I'm Genoese, I've been there 3 times, I could live in York too, great place to travel around Yorkshire
That was so fantastic. I was glued to the screen all the way through. I so loved it thanks so much. Thanks so much for taking me along. P,ease stay safe and take care

Proud to live here!
Lovely to hear!
Ein wunderbarer Spaziergang durch York. Dankeschön dafür. ❤️✨️
Thankyou for sharing enjoyed every moment watching this
My family visited York many years ago. Loved it. The Viking exhibit was excellent.
Edit: It’s great that videos of this type exist. They build places up, as opposed to those that want to show what dumps cities are becoming. I’d rather feel happy and exited than depressed.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Love it! England so beautiful! Please take care of yourself heritage!
What an amazing video! RUclips is inundated with travel shows and I normally really struggle to find channels that get all of the best parts of a city. You nailed it with this, stunning visuals and information about the history and culture. Really enjoyed this from start to finish and made me want to go back to York as there was clearly alot I didn't see
Thank you so much for the lovely comment, it was hard video to make and even though we covered a lot there is still more to see in York. Hope you make back. I think it is one of those places you can go again and again and always find something new and interesting to see and do.
Took my girlfriend here and she loved York and cant wait to go back again. Thank you for the tour ❤
Get it booked! It is a lovely place to spend some time.
Thank you so much! Helps me remember my hometown so vividly when I’m away. Haven’t lived there since 1991 but visit my my Mum often and miss it lots!
So glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Wow, the museum is incredible, almost like a time capsule into which you may walk.
como siempre maravilloso video!!!!gracias
York, my favourite city. Love it! I love your channel, so much to learn.

We did the walk in June. So many places to see in York...Thank you for the amazing video 😃
Always a joy to watch your guides. I like the way that they are to the point and not over bearing. Thank you.
Many thanks Gary
What a fabulous and informative video about the wonderful city of York. I am so very proud that I was born and still live here. Thank you.
Piekne sa te zabytki angielskie. Warto zobaczyc. Dziekuje serdecznie za interesujący film. Goraco pozdrawiam z Polski🥰❤️
The best travel video I have seen in a while!
Bought back some memories. Beautiful place and so much to see. My visit was marred by the dreadful narcissist I was seeing at the time. Loved The Minster and The Shambles though. Enjoying your uploads.
That ending was definitely worth the wait
I was very surprised when visiting that the York tourism board had a list of the the top 10 Roman walled cities in the country, which failed to mention Chester.
Hello from Naples, Florida. An awesome walk around a very beautiful city, York. We enjoyed the walk and history. Thank you so much for sharing this part of the world with us.
Hello there, thank you for the lovely comment so pleased you enjoyed it.
It's so wonderful - wish I could live there ...
Thank you for bringing yorkshire to the light.
Oh I love this part of the country, apart from York that I had visited many times in the past, the rest of Yorkshire was only introduced to me last year and now cannot get enough of it! Lots still to see.
I (Ian) have read, and re-read, so much about York and dreamt so often of visiting. So thank you so much for making this wonderfully interesting video; this will be the closest Igetto walk the streets. What history and architecture! Ian and Sue, Australia
Hello Ian and Sue, thank you for sharing your thoughts on York, so pleased we could bring it to you in Australia. 😊
Amazing! Thanks, can’t wait to visit!
Have fun!
Wonderful journey through history. Thank you.

Have a visit to beautiful KNARESBOROUGH sometime another yorkshire town but some stunning views, gorgeous river, mother shiptons cave etc etc have a nosey online is worth a visit for sure mate
Yes we have this on the list to visit, as we live down south of country it’s hard to find the time to make the longer trips up to Yorkshire but really want to explore more. Such beauty there. Thank you for the suggestions.
This is simply so well done, I cannot elaborate further. Thank you!!
Well thank you so much, 😊
I love that city. Spent a week there back in '13. In 2014, I stayed in Knaresborough, and did a couple of day trips there. I highly recommend a guided tour.
Another absolutely amazing video from you! Thank you 🥂💕🙏‼️
Thank you Tiffany 😀
Some of my ancestors came from just outside of York. Watching this video has definitely made me decide that I MUST go and visit York when the Covid situation is safer. As always many thanks for yet another informative video.
So pleased we helped you make that decision. Do hope you are able to visit soon. Wonderful city.
Covid has been and gone people need to move on with there life’s as none of us know how long we have left in our life’s don’t let covid spoil your life !!

Ah you are welcome, so glad you liked it.
Another professionally made travelogue. Thank you very much.
Thank you for watching!
A lovely guide, so much to do and see, it seems like a destination suited to a short break to be able to take most of the sights in. My personal favourite was the National Railway Museum.
Yes the National railway museum is very well done and the fact it is free to visit makes it a great family day out!
A thousand likes are much less than you deserve guys for showing us this beautiful city. Thanks a million. 😘😘😘
Thank you 😊
We both read the book Catherine several times. I hope you will someday do a tour in Lincoln. The love story center around Catherine and the Duke was so interesting. It would be great to see how much has change in that area since I was there.
I loved this fantastic tour so much, I watched it twice back to back. Off to watch another of your tours. Cheers 🥂
So pleased you enjoyed it Mary. Lots more to see Canterbury would be a recommendation from us! 😀
Thank you for such a wonderful video! I love York and all your videos!
