This plant was gifted to us at my younger sisters funeral service a few days ago. I’m feeling overwhelmed (never been into plants before) but I will do everything I can to keep it alive in memory of my sister. Thank you for the video.
My family was also gifted a peace lily when my grandfather died in 2001. My mom takes care of it still to this day. I think of him every time I see it. It needs to be re potted though, it's massive.
Sorry for your loss, my father law passed 15 years ago, and I can honestly say that I kept his Peace Lilly until last year, I would go and talk to it just as if it was him still alive.i kept it in my den with not much sunlight, would check it to make sure that it wasn't dry. Took it to my kitchen sink and water it if it were dry, finally I guess that he wanted to rest i Took it out in my backyard and buried it.
I was scrolling down the comments and came across yours, and I was overwhelmed. I just lost my youngest sister (family of 11) a week ago at the age of 51. She died in a car accident. I just received this plant which was gifted to me as well. I took don't know much about plant care but I would like to keep this plant healthy. RIP to your younger sister and mine.
Same this plant was given to me in honor of my father. My father had a green thumb when it came to his garden. I’m trying my best to keep it alive in honor of him. This is kindof a complicated plant.
@@staceycato5859 Hahaha the same thing happened to me when I got my peace lilly years ago! ... I was asking on forums thinking some weird disease had struck it and the answer was "it's dehydrated". I watered it and ... heck, that thing really was just dehydrated LOL.
In my opinion it is the easiest and hardy plant for indoor at all. Even if they dry out, the will return very fast. It is for me a non problem plant. Only spider plants are more easy.
Yeah/Right..... I'm a roughneck, construction guy who just happens to like plants at home, indoors and outdoors. My mother is the Peace Lily Queen and they bloom (potted or not) at her command. It took her 30 years to teach me these basic steps. LEAVE THEM ALONE! I currently have 4 Peace Lillies and they DO NOT care for you to read to them, bless them, stare at them, or touch them. Currently, my 4 share 27 blooms and I learned that they love red neck love. Indoors, between 69-71 degrees, SE window, 4 foot fluorescent light with grow light bulbs, one filter full of used coffee grinds every 6 weeks (Dunking Dark), and every 5-7 days water till it runs out of the bottom. Other than that, they don't want me to look at them on my way by. Of the 4, 3 of them are over 30 years old and 3 generations. The 4th is a Lowes plant that's 6-7 and a hybrid.
I was given 2 from my mom's funeral 2 weeks ago. The ones from my dad's funeral in 2015 died.🥺 It's sitting in a pot and then that's inside of a brown woven basket. Do I need to take it out the basket?
@@denisela3403 I definitely took my first one and my second one out of the basket one was in a hard plastic container I wanted those drainage holes open the pot and basket was so tight I had to have my husband help me pull it out of there if you don't mess with them they do better my first one I think I worried too much about misting and then I thought I should split it and everything died so I cut it to the dirt and set it outside one day my husband said your peace lily is sprouting so I brought it back in and repot it it it's doing fairly well some new Leaf grilling my second one I found at the grocery store it was only $18 and it is huge compared to what you will pay at a flower shop they start at $45 and go up to about 90 with my new one I use Miracle-Gro one tiny spoon per gallon then I set the whole plant into a wash basin which is square doesn't really matter just so you can see how much water is taken in then I put 3 to 4 in of Miracle-Gro water and set the pot down into it I leave it overnight drain it off the next day all my blooms are spent now but I'm hoping it will Bloom for me again my first one I was missing all the time for moisture the flower shop gentleman told me to stop messing with it and quit missing so far it's doing really good haven't lost any leaves I have it in a South window and it's probably five to six feet away from the center of those double doors good luck
October 2020 my neighbour threw out the plant I have, I picked it up and she's been doing very well. I moved it to water, it's in a bright not direct light space, and she's growing beautifully, and she just blossomed. I'm so happy!
I started with 1 Peace Lily 6 yrs ago. It was given to us from our baby granddaughters funeral. Ever since then I have been splitting the mother pot to make others. Then I left the mother pot alone and was splitting off of the other. If pots. I give the new pots away. Yes give away. I keep about 6 pots myself. 3 are large plants. I do this in honor of my granddaughter. I love ur video because it has told me things that I didn’t know. Thank you very much.
In my country we call them Wing Fowers and they're also in every house 😄 Edit: Woman's happiness, what a beautiful name! In my native language plants have usually really awful names
Dare I say it... I actually love this plant for the foliage more than the blooms. Lol The two I have, I bought because they had huge leaves even though they had no blooms.
Me too!! I bought this plant cause the leaves are so so so gorgeous I tell mine every single day how gorgeous he is And now he bloomed I now have 6 huge blooms plus another 4 babies I see coming out :) Mine is like 3 feet tall & 2 feet wide :)
Same here, I bought my spath when it was just foliage and it was because of the foliage. If it blooms its nice, of course but i don't let it keep blooms for too long because it eventually sheds tiny pollen bits that fall onto the leaves and my floor^^
My peace lily is my most forgiving of all of my plants. It has grown enormously I've had to repot it every year, and it is now a floor plant. Humidity is very low in my apartment (in the winter it can get below 20%) and I forget to water it all the time. It can go weeks without water. I've also kept it in a spot that literally doesn't get sunlight at all. Despite all of this, it blooms every year and look very healthy. I have now moved it to a spot where it gets more light, so I am very courious to see what happens. Maybe it doesn't like it? We'll see.
My favorite plant. I have two huge ones that I have had in my care for almost 10 years. I also have several small leafed ones. I recently acquired two variegated ones. All my peace lillies flower all the time. Easy care for me because they are pretty vocal.
My Peace Lily is doing great in my home. It's near the window and got 2 hours of sun light and the rest of the day still near the window. Now i have 6 flowers (in July) and flower almost all the year. I fertilize it with a balance fertilizer (10 10 10) 2 times a month (from March to September) and reported it every 2 years. Now it's really huge and so adorable. I'm living in Germany
You covered it quite well. I would add that since Spathiphyllums have vigorous root systems, (as shown herein), potting them in large pots encourages them to grow bigger, remain healthy and also reduces the likelihood of them drying out and wilting. If one wants to restrict the pot size you can periodically divide the plant, (as shown herein). Alternatively one can repot by pruning about 1/3 of the roots off the root ball and refreshing the soil mix with new soil. When keeping Spathiphyllums in smallish pots it’s a good idea to leech the soil every few months to flush out salts / mineral buildup that can damage plant tissues.
I wonder if you could tell me what I did wrong with my peace lily, which I owned for over 15 years. It was beautiful, but I thought it had overgrown the pot it was planted, as well as the soil was used up and old. So I bought a bag of container soil, and transferred the plant to its new pot. I was surprised to find out that there were about 8 plants, as I transferred them. Well, the next day, they were all droopy, and never recovered. Several months later, I finally pulled them out of the soil yesterday, cut all the brown leaves (no green left anyways), and stuck the root pieces in water. Still hoping for a miracle.
Indestructible plant in my case. I've had it for about 5 years now and it has grown huge leaves. Now I am working on the flowering part, hopefully this year I get it to flower.
I have somehow managed to keep a peace lily going for over 10 years, but right now it’s hanging on by a thread. I kept hearing that they are so easy to grow, but that hasn’t been the case for me. Mine rarely blooms, and I’ve gotten 2 flowers at a time at most. Right now, it looks awful, and I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve moved it to different locations, and it’s just not happy. BUT, I’m going to take a look at the roots, and possibly add fresh soil, and definitely do some trimming. Thank you so much. This is the most helpful info I’ve been able to find.
@@summerrayneoakes7338 the first one I killed I thought it was the common death of many house plants... over watering. The second two I believe its inconsistent watering. The one I have now is mostly dead, but has new growth.
Me too. I did move the location for saveral time in every place of my house but still not work out. It keeps grow new leaf but small and brown at the tip
@@FaviansWorld A good rule for these is when the leaves droop, water it until the water runs through. The plant tells you when it needs water. Overwatering causes root rot and brown tips along with high fertilizers. Watering it less won't damage it like most aroids
I've watched umpteen videos on the " Peace Lilly ", and you're the first one to ever explain what causes the black leaves to occur. Awesome!!!!!!!! 👌 I'm now a subscriber......
My peace Lilly seems to be happiest with super infrequent water no matter where I put it. It’s in terra cotta and I maybe water it twice a month. It’s almost always bone dry. No idea what cultivar it is, but it goes against any peace lilly advice I’ve ever heard. Now that I finally stopped keeping it moist I’ve grown to really love it!
my spath is living in water. recovering from when I gave it stem rot back in summer🙃. yes. even you can give a peace lily stem rot with too much humidity.
My Peace Lily was a gift to my Mom on her last Mother's Day in 2008. It's now barely hanging on and it's heartbreaking. I thought putting it under grow lights would help since I have a very low light home due to patios, porches, etc. keeping the sun out. It has only bloomed twice in 13 years despite trying everything. I will follow the guidelines you've set and see if I can keep "Lizzy" going and revive her. Thanks!
0:42 Ah yes, I see the Philippines highlighted in the map. My peace lily just sprouted new leaves and they bring me a lot of joy. 6:26 Yes, heat is not that big of an issue. When they were given to me, the leaves were narrow and had black spots on the sides. I thought the plant was going to die. I have been keeping it outdoors and just leave it there no matter the weather. It gets a lot of sun and rain. Now, it is sprouting new, healthy, wide, beautiful leaves.
I got this plant during my sons funeral he passed from Sids and it’s driving me crazy not knowing how to care for this plant so thank you for this video💙
Thank you for this video! My peace lily was the first plant I was gifted when I returned to my home country about a decade ago. It flowered beautifully the first year I had it and then for the last 6 years it has, and I'm sure it was out of spite, refused to respond to whatever care I gave it. Then two years ago it started to look terrible, it clearly was not happy and the leaves wilted and turned brown. I repotted with fresh soil, positioned it in what should have been the correct light and it just got worse and worse. Eventually when I was ready to throw it away my partner repotted it again and put it outside (what!?) with our clivia's (indigenous to my country South Africa and also shade loving) and it is now thriving and flowered for the first time again last month. Its only one lonely flower but somehow my indoor peace lily wants to be outside! Thankfully where I live in South Africa is considered a horticultural zone 1(coastal summer rainfall. Frost free, minimum temperature for coldest month: 5°C to 10°C) This video has given me a ton of extra information that I am looking forward to putting into practice so thank you :)
Just discovered this channel because I got my first spath plant. I love this content, you can tell Summer is oozing knowledge on the subject and everything is so well explained (with the most excellent diction). You have new fan and subscriber, I'm sure my plants will appreciate it!
I’ve had mine for years, it’s huge and gets north west sun all day. I Water it once a week maybe or I just wait until it starts to wilt. It blooms a lot.I love peace lilies. Had no idea they were related to philodendron, that’s probably why I love them. Easy and beautiful. In my area they have the negative of being the funeral plant.
I really love my plant bcause it was given 2 me by 1 of my husband's neice's 4 his funeral. But as of right now it's sick & I REALLLLLLLLLY don't want 2 loose it. A few of the leaves have a little bit of brown on them. Also. Some of the stems are really skinny. I'd like 2 b able 2 find a book that's not 2 expensive. But as far as the video is I REALLLLLLLLLY LOVED IT.😃😘💩🥰😃😘😍🥰😃😘😍
I have two of these: Domino and... I'm not sure the other variety, but it can get large. A neighbor gave them to my mom prior to moving away about 15 years ago. They had a near-death experience during a move 3 years ago, and I've been nursing them back to health ever since. One thing I've noticed is if you want big growth, you need light. I have a grow light on both of mine and they have started to bloom for the first time since their accident! They used to be in 5+ gallon pots, and now they're in a 10in and an 8in. These plants want to keep going! (Edit: the near-death experience was a family friend putting them in full sun in Georgia in June.)
I recently got my first peace lily, and it’s growing new leaves and all. However, it has shown dry tips, and the internet says it’s due to inconsistent watering, too much watering, too little watering, etc. i’m not going to change how i water it just yet, we’ll see how it goes. It’s my first house plant, so i’m really stocking up on all the info i can get
Mine has some brown in it. I took them out of the ground and loosened up the roots I did break up some of the brown but I didn't fully remove it. It did have a ton more white roots but way smaller or very thin and extra long. There was black roots and I removed those but it could of been the black mesh I used as a bed for mulch. I reported it in all purpose soil from Lowes. I put them in a much less direct sunlight. They seem to be doing much better now it's been over 2 days. They still look like they're having a bad hair day. I'm not giving up on them.
I'm really new to plants, but so far I've been able to keep mine alive for three months. I keep it in my room with an LED light that turns on an off everyday. Before this video I wouldn't think it's a hard plant to keep, honestly. You just have to remember to water it, and by water I mean dunk that plant in water every week. I don't water it more than that, but that's because it's passed it's blooming stage. When it starts to bloom I'll probably have to water it more. It's honestly a nice plant to have, and a bit of a drama queen when you're late on the watering.
I have a Beautiful Peace Lilly I had for years, given to me by a really good friend. And it is Absolutely Beautiful. Thank God Almighty I listen to you because I didn't know that it is toxic to dogs. That is so Scary. Because I had it in the bottom shelf of an end table that she really Loves .So now I removed it from there because I have pets. The Peace Lilly is also a Great healer of plants. I had a Prayer Plant that I almost killed trying to spray for bugs and the concentrate was to strong and I wanted to just die because it went from a Beautiful full plant to a couple of pale leaves. So I thought going it to the Peace Lilly to take care of and soon the Prayer Plant started to get better. Another story about my Peace Lilly, A friend give my this Peace Lilly from his plant he had with 3 little leaves on it and never seen to want to do much else. Well I started an interest in orchids , the small ones and I put the Orchids next to the Peace Lilly,. They fell in love with each other and the Peace Lilly started growing more leaves and it is so full now. And Yes she does droop and looks so sad when she needs water. Thank you for your informative video. I saved your video. Thank you for your time 🌾🌻🌹🥀🌹🌾🌱
Thanks for sharing your beautiful story of your peace lily. I should also note that some animals just don't bother plants at all, so if your pet has no history of nibbling your plants, you may very well be safe. But totally good to be safer than sorry. Have a wonderful day.
I love this plant!! I have four growing in my flat in Melbourne, Australia. The largest of them I have growing in a mix made of part orchid bark and peat. I was having big problems with gnats and I have found that this mix works for my large peace Lily I just have to water it more. I also give mine banana water which I make by soaking banana peels in water for a week.
I’m so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I love the way you explain important information about the plant and the do’s and don’ts when it comes to caring for your plant. Thank you so much for all your valuable information. I’m now a new subscriber!
I have two very large ones in a plastic decorative pot. Together they are 3 feet tall and almost 6 feet wide. They are 9 years old this year and came off my mothers original that was almost 16 years old when it died. Our house humidity is around 60% year round due to 6 large aquariums we have. They are in a south facing window with a growlight on a 12 hour timer. I keep the soil wet, a tray of constantly wet pebbles underneath and sphagnum moss covering the soil.
This video was beyond helpful. Im a new plant mom, and im on my second peace lily since Christmas Eve. This time around is better, but what lead me to this video was the fact that i realized my leaves are curling up. So now i know i have to spritz the leaves, or bring it in the bathroom when i shower to get more humidity.
mine drooped within a day so after trying to water them more and that didnt help much i put them in glass with water now they are much happier. so for those living in a dry environment or forgetting to water their peacelilly this really works well.
I am glad that you mentioned the diseases these plants - Anthurium and the Spathiphyllum get. Recently, two of my Anthurium plants died after their leaves turned yellow and dropped. At first, I tought that the tiny bugs I saw in the organic soil were the cause, but I learnt that they were beneficial bugs that help break down the organic matter in the soil.
Mine bloom non stop. You have to fertilize every time you water with 1/4 strength. I use Dyna Gro foliage pro. Mine are in a plant room with humidifiers at 65% and lights on for 12 hours led 6000K shop lights. Mine are pretty much non stop blooming from the sensation to my dominios. I have a ceiling fan and one in the doorway to give my plants plenty of circulation. Temps are from 78 to 82°
The blossoms on mine died. I prayed God Almighty,Creator of all, to please make more blooms. Then He gave me six blooms. My parents have six as well on one and blooms on others as well. God created them and can make them bloom whenever He wants. I praise God for all the plants I have. Use to be depressed in winter, but praise God because He has given me MANY plants indoor all winter and a mix in summer and spring
How sweet! I bought my first Spath (Domino) at around the same time. Aren’t they great? Mine keeps getting new leaves. What light exposure do you have yours in? Have you repotted yet? Edited for spelling
My mom has asthma and I read somewhere that a peace lily has things that can help with that, as well as a good night's sleep and such, do you think that you could make a video about that?
I went through so many of these plants but never gave up! After trying so many places in my home I finally found the sweet spot. It is the window with high light with open window blinds and it's in the room with my very large aquarium {adds humidity}. Mine is now at least 4 ft. now. I found that putting ashes from my wood stove in it just B4 watering saves the day. I think that something in Boston MA. water henders it and the ashes help neutralizes the old problem.
Thanks for the video! I have 2 peace lillies and they are beautiful plants. I personally don’t care about the blooms, I’m more about the foliage. I’ve had them for less than a month and they are already producing new growth 🌱! I have one that is very full and with no blooms and I have another one that isn’t as full and has 1 flower and they are both in a low to medium light situation
I grew it from little baby. Its next to South facing door. Plenty of bright light and little bit of morning sun. And multiply to another pot that also has 2 flowers
Put my peace lily in an east facing window in the summer where it was getting 6hrs of direct light and it burned and died. Now my new peace lillies sits on the floor and it's thriving because it only gets indirect light. The thing I'm struggling with is yellowing leaves after watering. I'm using distilled water but I think I might just be letting it get too dry before watering (it's usually full droop limp when I do water) and the yellowing is due to stress.
My care is simple: right after I bought a Peace Lily pot with soil, I put half -> 3/4 pot into water inside another pot storing water & leave it like that. The plant loves much water without Clo2 so I use waste water from RO water. The plant is Super health this way with bright light+warm weather+humidity , however it sucks Water too fast so I need to add more water every 3 days (of course never put this plant under water completely). BTW my friends spiders help me take care of the plant by eating up fungus gnats, (no chemistry required).
I have a peace lily from my nephew funeral i want keep it for as long as i can so far so good ive never had good LUCK with them thank ufor the info about them❤
I don’t care if mine blooms but it has been looking paler and thinner recently. I just wanted to be luscious again. I think it’s gorgeous with or without blooms
I’m from Scotland 🏴 and I’ve got two spathes appear on my peace lily since November 🙌 It hasn’t bloomed since I bought mine in 2018 and it may not have done so until I placed mine next to my west facing window and grouped it amongst my other humidity loving plants!
What a great, informative video. I have 1 peace lily, my first plant. I moved it from soil to water in a glass. It's in a north-facing window with a humidifier. It's finally growing one white flower! I'm shocked. But it may also have a fungal issue on one leaf. Is it possible that the change from soil to water caused an infection? I kept most of the roots.
my leaves are turning brown on the edges! Also, big plant so going to take it apart and make three. it's in a 10" pot. Also, this past summer had it out in direct sunlight outside for about 10 minutes, it did not like this turn leaves black, and had to remove them later.
Yep my bathroom got to cold last year so i almost lost it but it came back tull the spring and summer rained to mych but i found one at lowes i am nursering back it had new grow starting to come out so i am slowly taking the burnt ones as it grows i get a few more leaves the lady couple will come out
Grabbed a Domino from the local grocery store...for the leaf appeal(LOVE!). She's flowering now. Lives in the Eastern facing bathroom -I feel confident about light value, temp may be an issue but the house stays around 65ish. I've been contemplating -should I cut the older leaves back in order to get more growth density...
Thank you! My spat has shot up 10 flowers this month of April. Love to peek into plant and try to locate the next flower. Planning on splitting it once the flowers fade.
Excellent video...finally someone who gives the whole story. I finally learned that I can give my plant fertilizer once a month, January through August. Thanks very much.
Such an easy plant to grow. It basically tells me what it wants. 😂 I have it located under a small window in my enclosed breezeway here in Burbank. During the fall and winter months (which are short here) the Santa Ana winds and cold make things super dry here. I set out my humidifier during the day and all my plants seem to thrive.
Had mine for over 20 years before it did a mega flop after repotting, (think due to breaking the root). But the small one I split off is now growing strongly.
That just sounds like you’ve got house plants, so I’m guessing you haven’t just got a few plants in your room, you’ve actually filled half your room with soil 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve never seen an indoor garden so I’m trying to picture it. All I can imagine is you’ve filled half the room with soil and you’re slowly filling it up with plants 🤷🏻♀️ it looks good in my imagination anyway ☺️
Don't water too much. This plant can tolerate being too dry for a short time, but not being too wet. Water once a week, or whenever the soil feels dry.
Mine was gorgeous, and flowering. Moved apartment and it decided to start dying. But I think I've managed to get the growing conditions right again. It helps that spring is coming and it is getting more sunlight and warmth.
I have a really small one. Been looking for the variegated one. Been really tempted as well to get a bigger ones I have seen that are very lush as the one I have I don't know how big it will end up growing as it was tiny when I got it. And not the healthiest. It's not got a lot of leaves at the moment and a lot of them were crisped at the tips going yellow.
I have to admit I’ve subscribed cause on top of being super knowledgeable on top of that you’re gorgeous & your plants are gorgeous too (as a woman that appreciates beauty)
At night in winter I sleep with the heater on mostly all night is that bad for these plants because I used to measure house plant but I will water them outside and wait for the water to flow over and come out of the bottom of the container then put put them back on there there plate. How often do I change the soil and what is the best soil? I want to do the right thing by them.
My peace Lily 2 feet tall, large full very green leaves with many new leaves growing and plant is now flowering . I have had this plant for a month. I hope I can keep this plant healthy looking as it does now. I would like to know if I can mist the leaves or not ?
Have used peace lillies in larger planters as a moisture meter. Large expensive plant that need moisture dont always show lack of water till to late. A peace lilly in planter give quick indication of lack of water and bounce back quite readily. Saved expensive plant and still have attractive peace lilly . Even in another planter gives a good reminder to water in seasons where watering is less due to low light ie winter. Like you show. Finding alot of sites trying to explain the need for sponsers . I go with OK as long as you indicate they are sponsering you up front and up to viewer to use sound judgement. If I had sponsor unconcious bias could make me believe that a good product was a great product. Only a person with very low morels will promote a poor or bad product as great. In bad ole days actors would promote any product in front of them. But in the end they were actors doing a part. Gardening you tubers are presenting themselves as somewhat knowledgeable people in that field and not trying to be next oscar winner. I watch a number of sites and often see presenter show plant and say straight out they dont know why a particular plant they try and grow wont for them. I tend to trust people who say I dont know when they dont and when they do say this is what works for me. Not universally right but works for me here today now. Best of luck
I've killed two Peace Lilies in a row due to a very cautious watering schedule because I've heard they can also be sensitive to over-watering and need to fully dry out. The first one was drooping after only 5 days from the nursery so after doing some research I determined to water it, and I didn't even water it like crazy, and it died within the next 48 hours. The next one had the same issue, though I watered it sooner when seeing it drooping. I've experimented with both in light conditions ranging from semi-bright indirect light to even slightly dim away from the windows (indoors). I can't seem to figure out what causes my drooping though - it seems to be a sign it needs water but then it makes it worse after I water! I'm confused as the nursery and people online seem to say it's an "easy" plant but it's been a bit fussy to me...
I know this is an old comment but just wondering, did you check that they did actually need watering when they drooped? Could it be that each was overwatered in the nursery & you just happened to get them during their final throes? I'm pretty terrible with plants but so far my peace lily is thriving. (On neglect!) I water it no more than twice a month
Hi. Is it important to keep artificial light away from my Peacelily? I use a plant light over a grouping of plants. I'm now problem solving. I switched from tap water to Spring water and from Miracle Grow to Dr. Earth organic soil. I have had my Peacelily for many years without issues. Recently my plant is in a constant state of drooping. I enjoy your videos.🌿☘🍀 Thank You!
Ok, thanks! I’ll try your tips. I’m trying to keep my moms peace Lilly. It’s starting to brown again, it may not be humid enough and I had it on a windowsill, so I’ll move it
Hi, im brand new. My gma gave me a peace lily as a gift. When you say humid do you just mean like keep the dirt damp? My plants leaves are getting droopy and its been close to a week now. In that time, ive repotted it as well as do the finger thing and its damp. Im gonna try moving it to a part of my apt with an bit less light.

I bought one two weeks ago and it was fine- this morning, it was dropped! This is my first dramatic plant.

Most defiantly! Named one Lilian for that reason lol...and I had the nerve to get two! Lol sucking me dry.

👍✌
I was given 2 from my mom's funeral 2 weeks ago. The ones from my dad's funeral in 2015 died.🥺 It's sitting in a pot and then that's inside of a brown woven basket. Do I need to take it out the basket?
Damn, that's intense!
And here I thought mine just hated me lol! Thank you for this!
Just brought home my moms fifteen-year-old Peacy Lily, and I just repotted it for the first time. And now I pray. 😂
October 2020 my neighbour threw out the plant I have, I picked it up and she's been doing very well. I moved it to water, it's in a bright not direct light space, and she's growing beautifully, and she just blossomed. I'm so happy!
Just don't water it too much, that will kill it.
In Russia we call this plant "woman's happiness", and it grows in every home) 😍👍
In my country we call them Wing Fowers and they're also in every house 😄
Edit: Woman's happiness, what a beautiful name! In my native language plants have usually really awful names
Thats so interesting!
That is much prettier a name than our 'spoon flower' 😂
Toxic?
Woman,s happiness flower
Dare I say it... I actually love this plant for the foliage more than the blooms. Lol The two I have, I bought because they had huge leaves even though they had no blooms.
Yeah, some of the cultivars have really impressive leaf size.
Me too!! I bought this plant cause the leaves are so so so gorgeous
I tell mine every single day how gorgeous he is
And now he bloomed I now have 6 huge blooms plus another 4 babies I see coming out :)
Mine is like 3 feet tall & 2 feet wide :)
Same here, I bought my spath when it was just foliage and it was because of the foliage. If it blooms its nice, of course but i don't let it keep blooms for too long because it eventually sheds tiny pollen bits that fall onto the leaves and my floor^^
Agree, the leaves are attractive. My plant is 15 years old, and it still looks good.
Probably needs more light
My peace lily is my most forgiving of all of my plants. It has grown enormously I've had to repot it every year, and it is now a floor plant. Humidity is very low in my apartment (in the winter it can get below 20%) and I forget to water it all the time. It can go weeks without water. I've also kept it in a spot that literally doesn't get sunlight at all. Despite all of this, it blooms every year and look very healthy. I have now moved it to a spot where it gets more light, so I am very courious to see what happens. Maybe it doesn't like it? We'll see.
I am from the Philippines and my peace lily actually loves direct sunlight. 🙂

Update??
I've had my peace lily for 18 years love it.
3 months and its flowering
Mines have 2 big blooms and one small one that just came in I’m so proud of my baby
the fact you were very knowledgeable and have a berimbau hanging up has completely got me to subscribe.
I’m so
I have somehow managed to keep a peace lily going for over 10 years, but right now it’s hanging on by a thread.
This is literally the hardest plant for me to keep alive.
What's been the most difficult aspect do you think?
Try Semi hydroponics. Its the only way i was able to keep mine alive
I've watched umpteen videos on the " Peace Lilly ", and you're the first one to ever explain what causes the black leaves to occur. Awesome!!!!!!!! 👌
I'm now a subscriber......
I don’t really care for the bloom. I love the lush green vibe.
Completely agreed with this
My peace Lilly seems to be happiest with super infrequent water no matter where I put it.
Thank you for saying it is toxic to pets and kids!!
Frost free, minimum temperature for coldest month: 5°C to 10°C)
This video has given me a ton of extra information that I am looking forward to putting into practice so thank you :)
But as far as the video is I REALLLLLLLLLY LOVED IT.😃😘💩🥰😃😘😍🥰😃😘😍
I'M VERY SORRY ABOUT 1 OF THE PICTURES N MY TXT!! 😭😭😭😭.
Down here in the southern hemisphere the morning sun is also eastern.. 😄 the only difference in northern / southern exposure during winter
your so smart, i need to read more books
This plant it's a warrior 😄 perfect for beginners because she lets you know when it needs to be watered 🤩🤩🤩
When its leaves are droopy? Need advice, please.
@@joy9073 yes, it's correct
@@yodacari2783 thank you. I'll check it in the morning, to see if it has recovered.
Ms. Oakes I enjoyed your warm and friendly delivery of content. I look forward to learning from you.
I have purchased a fertilizer especially made for a peace lily plant. My peace lily plants are thriving. They are gorgeous.
I have one and doing soo good with me. Its blooming non stop since last year.
Yes, mine too. I got mine off of Amazon. It has more blooms than I've ever seen. It's quite lovely, gives me joy. it's flourishing..
Please tell me how to encourage new blooms
Thank you for your time 🌾🌻🌹🥀🌹🌾🌱
Thank you for your comment 👍You are certainly a fast reader.😃😃😃
Use to be depressed in winter, but praise God because He has given me MANY plants indoor all winter and a mix in summer and spring
my friend just gifted me a peace lily yesterday! how timely!
Great beginner plants. Mine has produced 5 plantlets and I’ve had it since the beginning of summer.
My Domino has some half moon leaves on it, so stunning. Also have a Jessica and Picasso. I love the verigated ones more than solid green.
The Picasso is divine.
Was by far the hardest plant for me to find, living in rural North Dakota, took a year and a half.
Mine is flowering in a very dark area of the house, it seems to prefer low light. A very easy plant with a toxic immunity to bugs. Thanks Summer
Mine was efin drama queen. Right now shes under with big plants and thriving even direct sunlight
i love peace lily...phillippines my home counrty lots of peace lily in different kinds of variety.
Im new to plant parenting and choose the peace lilies so I'm paying attention to you and them so I can be the best nurturer
I bottom feed mine too and it is thriving, first plant I haven’t killed off though I would like to see blooms again
Thnk you! My peace lillies flower all year round! I have two of them, they won't stop making new flowers
I've been contemplating -should I cut the older leaves back in order to get more growth density...
ok.
Thank you! My spat has shot up 10 flowers this month of April. Love to peek into plant and try to locate the next flower. Planning on splitting it once the flowers fade.
Wow!! That is amazing!
Never had a garden but then I had the brilliant idea of starting an indoor garden. I have 3 peace lillies to start me off. This guide was very helpful
We have ours in an eastern facing window and it loves it. 5 blooms currently, and ready to re-pot to a larger 18"x24" pot.
Mine was gorgeous, and flowering. Moved apartment and it decided to start dying. But I think I've managed to get the growing conditions right again. It helps that spring is coming and it is getting more sunlight and warmth.
My peace Lily was doing so well for a long time. But. Now the leaves are turning black!! It was a gift don’t really want to get rid of it.
we need more vids like this
You never fail to inspire me, I'm into peace Lily again trying my luck, my previous plants got stunted growth, hope to improve my skills now
Wishing you the best!!
I was gifted one and had not bloomed. Hopefully it will after learning more for care
I just wamted to say, you're my favourite plant youtuber! I've learnt so much from you over the years thankyou. 💞🌱🌿
I have to admit
I’ve subscribed cause on top of being super knowledgeable on top of that you’re gorgeous & your plants are gorgeous too (as a woman that appreciates beauty)
At night in winter I sleep with the heater on mostly all night is that bad for these plants because I used to measure house plant but I will water them
outside and wait for the water to flow over and come out of the bottom
of the container then put
put them back on there
there plate. How often do I change the soil and what is the best soil? I want to do the right thing by them.
Is their native habitat near streams? Considering how much water they appear to require.
Thank you for your good info. I want my peace Lily to throw another flower so wanted to to know how far down to cut off the dead one ?
Great video thank you!❤️I’m now just getting into plants this stage in my life since I moved to Florida 🥰
My peace Lily 2 feet tall, large full very green leaves with many new leaves growing and plant is now flowering . I have had this plant for a month. I hope I can keep this plant healthy looking as it does now. I would like to know if I can mist the leaves or not ?
It had been awhile since I have had a peace Lily. Thanks for sharing the video mindful tips and cares.
I have some of peace lily and I separate some plants and repotting 2,3month back and now it's blooming in this January.
An excellent informative video about this popular house plant. Thanks!
When the blooms begin to drop a lot of white powder pollen, can you clip out the pollen center and leave the white bloom?
Mine are great however I don’t fertilize it enough so not enough flowers but propagation is great and it grows fast
I set mine on the patio and she does really good in the humidity and indoors I have problems 🤷♀️
You are so elegant to watch and hear.a very sophisticated green room 👍
I had 5 blooms on mine last summer, at one time, in humid, dappled, outside light...
