I have been searching for videos and infographs on water propagation for peace lilies and it's been so long that my plant has actually been doing well in water for the past two months and has been showing better results than when it was in soil since I live in a colder climate - BUT yours is the first one to actually have vital information. so it's been a while and my plants have been doing well, however it's been raining non stop for a couple of weeks now. and I've noticed that one of my tinier peace lilies has kind of stopped putting out new leaves, is a little droopy and a portion of the stem/root that's in the water is yellowing. it had slowly gone from white to green however the yellowing, should i be concerned?

I transferred my peace lily to water about a month ago. It’s drooping and I just noticed the tips are turning brown. One of the flowers is also brown. Everything I’ve read says you must add fertilizer to the water. I use filtered rain water. This is the first time I’ve heard NOT to fertilize. I think that might be the problem. Even though I diluted the fertilizer it may be too much. I will change the water, no fertilizer and see what happens. Your video was very nice to watch. To the point, informative and not a lot of rambling on like too many people do in videos. Thank you!

I transferred many peace lilies and other plants to water. They do so well! I try to put nature rocks at the bottom. The roots tend to grasp the rocks for stability? Or is the plant tracing minerals from the rocks? I pick a bigger vase so theres a bit more room and water in the glass. The extra water increases the humidity. All of my vases are sitting inside white pots to give the roots the darkness they are used too. ❤ Great video. More people would have peace lilies if they knew how easy they are to care for in water.

I rescued my peace lily's from a Tractor Supply hardware store on sale. They were all dying and completely died even after I repotted them. I dug them out of the dirt and put them in water after completely cleaning them. Now they are thriving. Now I am transferring them into a cylinder vase because the leaves are growing so tall. I change my water often. I notice if the water is getting brown colored even after i change it that I have to look at the roots. Take off any toots that are brown and mushy. That helps it stay healthier I've found too.

I really appreciate and like your channel and your love for plants but few things I would like to add and its for everyone. I have peace lily in water as well and whatever you do, even if you change the water daily, keep the stems cleanest as possible there are still fungal and root rot issues will happen and to preserve these issue what you can do is atleast once a month, add fungicide (systemic and contact) in water or the soil wherever your plants are growing, these fungicide improves immunity in planta by blocking fungal growth areas within the plant cells and also outside body of the plants. The water level is fine even if it goes above the crown, till the time you keep changing the water frequently it will not kill the plant. Add a pinch of npk to the water for your plants to grow new roots and show signs of thriving. All the best!
You said add a fungicide to the water can you possible give me a name brand and what is npk ? I'm trying to keep this peace lily alive and I'm struggling. I've done soil which I got gnats then I went to water and it just didn't seem to grow very well plus the roots got mushy. So I went back to dirt and my leaves started turning black I believe I over fertilize it or not enough sunlight. Now I'm back to water. This plant was at my mother's funeral and I don't want it to die please help. Thanks
@@dannycolemire2652 Hi, if your plant is not in a good state, let it be in water first initially, roots develop much better in water than soil. But take one effort, change water everyday... Everyday until the plant perks up and stabilises itself. Peace lillies are not so easy as its shown on RUclips videos. Water has oxygen and roots require oxygen, everyday changing will help them rejuvenate. Also dont use a cramped up vase, use a big size one, the more water it holds the better. Also dont hesitate the water level, let you peace lilly sit inside it even if the water level crosses roots over the stem. Just keep changing water everyday ( very important ). Now, as your peace lily is struggling I will suggest not to use NPK (NITROGEN, PHOSPHORUS, POTTASIUM) its a chemical ingredient in a form of crystals which also looks like salt, it comes as 10-10-10, 19-19-19 or 20-20-20 in the quantity of each chemical and its a shortcut to give plant their required food, but it has to be used in a pinch of its quantity as its a chemical it has an ability to burn the roots. I take a glass of water. Add a pinch of npk 19-19-19 stir it to dissolve and put it in the vase where my peace lilly is. I dont give it everyday as I do change water everyday. Its once in 2 weeks. But when you give them npk, observe them. Any counter effect is observed, discard the water. But now you dont use it. Let your peace lillies Revive itself first. Now, I come from india and we have some well known fungicide here in the market also we have antibiotics in the market especially for plants. What you can do is. Google 'plantomycin' and 'SAAF fungicide' check for its chemical ingredient and try to check if their alternatives are available in the market. Plantomycin is an antibiotic which kills bacteria attacks in plants and SAAF is a fungicide which kills varieties of funguses not only on the plant surface but also WITHIN plant's cells. Google them and try to get their alternatives. Whatever is available in your region. They both are water soluble, mix 1 of the powder (they come as powdery format) to one litre of water ( the same water what you have put your peace lilly in) just mix these. They help plant to fight the disease. Long story short: focus changing water everyday!!!!! And see if you get these fungicide and antibiotic in your market. All the best! I wish your peace lily survives and makes you happy!!

@@dannycolemire2652 distilled water has nothing in it.... And tap water is fine if its under 300 tds (human suitable) plants will be okay with it. Use the same water that you drink. If you drink water directly from the tap, Go ahead use it. Tap water has minerals it is much better than distilled, here in India plant nurseries uses ground water, and just imagine Ground water is so hard but still their plants are always healthy!!

Sir my lily's roots r not as strong as I had in soil "well-drained" but still many roots smushed out and rotted. When I planted it in the new soil mix the lily was very droopy even if the soil was moist (not damp) but when I transferred it to water it was very happy and today I saw 1st flower bud so its happily thriving in water pls suggest how to make it survive in soil cause my lily roots are too small weak and are not growing (previously they were long but due to root rot I had to remove the rotted part) pls advice on root health of peace lily
Well i had peace lily pot plant with several plants. I put one fully submerged in a soil and sand substrate fish tank. It's been under water 6 weeks and surviving well. The rest of plant had roots only in water. Survived but not doing as well, look withered, unlike the bottom planted plant.
You said don't fertilize the peace lily if your growing it in water. I use distilled water instead of tap water so how will my plant get the minerals and whatever else it needs or does distilled water have those things? Thanks

My peace lily has been in water from 6 months now. Although its growing new leaves, I had this issue of leaves turning brown, which I have to obviously cut. So my plant hasn't grown much in size 😬😬.... Two mistakes I have been making - keeping the water till the crown and adding seaweed liquid fertilizer. I transferred my Peace Lily from soil to water because it had root rot AND because I didn’t want to have that problem again. Now, my big beautiful leaves are drooping. Should I have cut the roots? What about if the white roots start turning slightly green? Should I trim these or is that normal?

Yes please try that and you can give your plant a good spray with turmeric powder added in water 😊
What sort of soil do you use? I reset my plant in soil from the garden but would peat moss / compost be better?
I always use normal potting mix and mix a bit of cow manure or organic compost for nutrition. The soil should be well drained 😊

They make fertilizer specifically for water culture. All plants need fertilizer. Good video though 👍🏻

You said don't fertilize the peace lily if your growing it in water. I use distilled water instead of tap water so how will my plant get the minerals and whatever else it needs or does distilled water have those things? Thanks

Please clarify my doubt. Few, plants when i transfer from soil yo water even after cleaning all the soil the roots are red or brown in color and not white. Is it ok to then put those in water

Its been a month and a half since I brought this peace lily plant....its quite small and its not growing only....the size is same not even an inch difference....also the tips have started turning brown and damaged... My peace lily has been in water from 6 months now. Although its growing new leaves, I had this issue of leaves turning brown, which I have to obviously cut. So my plant hasn't grown much in size 😬😬.... Two mistakes I have been making - keeping the water till the crown and adding seaweed liquid fertilizer. I transferred my Peace Lily from soil to water because it had root rot AND because I didn’t want to have that problem again. Now, my big beautiful leaves are drooping. Should I have cut the roots? Some of them had brown spots on them, but I was afraid to cut the roots because I DO NOT know what I’m doing. I’m following videos like yours🤷🏽♀️

How about if your water is coming from the tap with chlorine in it ??
That is ok, if you see leaves turning yellow then you can change it to the water that you drink 😊
